First, let me get this out of the way. Yes, I know the game is all about PvP combat, ganking, takin' ur lewtz, etc. I'm hoping the community doesn't turn this into Darkfall Round 2. Nevertheless, RPers also have purchase price + sub rate to spend, and we are gladly willing to do so if the game addresses the kinds of things we go for. So, for all you hardcore PKing, "U will b ganked til u quit LAWLZ QQ more nub" types, with all due respect, this ain't for you. QQ in someone else's thread. kthxbai.

Now, for the RPers. If you've been able to get a copy, please, please keep the rest of us in mind as you test out the world and report your findings. Even the little, seemingly insignificant things like sitting in chairs, having common interior locations to gather in, like taverns and inns (both of which seem to be absent in the other fantasy-themed PvP MMO out there that I'll only name once in this post.) Please let Star Vault know that these little details are a seasoning to the overall flavor of a game and is the kind of thing that keeps our interest when we're not out doing combat. Also, please let the rest of us know how it looks from a RPers' standpoint.

It would be greatly appreciated.

Beta starts the 20th for me (if all goos well)

As soon the NDA is lifted (wil be a while) I shall make a nice RP review.
As for sitting and other flavor and mechanic enchancements I will request them, depending on if there in or not ofcource. but seeing you can build houses and town I suspect it be in
as will the other roleplayers. and yes there plenty of roleplayers in MO, We Carebears have claws you know..

Dint read everyting..or anyting realy, just the tread name..

No it does not cost that..

when the game is gold / live it will cost you 50 euro and the normal 14,95- a month ( subject to chance ofcource)
everyone in europe pays 25% VAT , thats the VAT you pay when buying any product from sweden.

US and asia pay there own local VAT.

any prize you see in the shop is the prize inc VAT.  subs are incl VAT.

German, dutch, spain, any euro country pay product orgin VAT. any prize add in europe for worldwide sale Must be incl vat. and local shop that does ship out worldwide must incl vat % bevore charge.

The game itself is no more expencive then any other game.  its early acces and pre-sale is more expencive, and why not..

Up to you if you wana pay the prize or wait for the lower prize and get the risk of not getting in for a good while as most they do is open one or two servers (depending on server stress)  untill afther going live.

Well tought I take a little risk here and just get it. ( no idea if i will like it tho :P )

good thing about europe is that some of us got IDEAL, direct bank payment system.  order made, payment done.
now to wait for the box or download.

Not realy, all pc games new in store cost E50,-  ..

I know how it feels to be disapointed about a game direction, sofar all newer games kinda done that.
Well you could run away now  or just wait and see how it turns out.

We only know rtm as they use it in asian games, the type of game Richard Aihoshi always defends.
I never seen a western based rtm system, could actualy work out fine.  its the mom does not wana pay for game kids and the anime loving type of players that play asian rtm games, the "core " gamer STO en CO are "made for"  would never pay for the same system.
They are well aware of it.

Me, Im not getting any hopes up anymore about anygame untill I see the final product live. I like live whitout disapointments, those are always so emotional..  I wana be spock when i grow up you know.. :)

Well we do have little brains you know.. and we use even less of it.. not a insult, just a fact..
Try not to take insult from anyting you read, its just numbers.. zero's and a lot of one's

if you feel insulted then I say sorry, not intended.

hot subject, over reacted reactions

sure insult my intelligence, that will truly convince me you are right.  It is a hot subject and I did provide the link saying cryptic bucks can be used to buy anything in game - from Mr Roper.

Were do I insult you ?  at worst I insult us all including me..

as for anyting Ingame... well we just have to see, could be items, Could be any other thing you can make up.

fact stays we dont know snitz , so we just gota wait bevore shouting out load on forums. we can ofcource discuse it , thats good, thats productive and gives them a warning how a player might think about it. but saying I wont play!!!! or anyting like that kinda does not work you know..

read my post OP bevore you put to mutch heat in tha little brain we all got.

hot subject, over reacted reactions, do like me,  save the heat and build a atomic bomb just in case..

Ten Ton Hammer: What the hell is a Cryptic Buck? (RawGutts)

Roper: As I mentioned earlier, Cryptic has a set of core technology that we build upon, and being able to have digital distribution for things that are both inside and outside the game was very important to us. We wanted to have a system in place that allowed people to get stuff that way.

So we came up with these Cryptic Bucks, and you can use those to get anything inside or outside of the game. We basically wanted to allow players to have a denomination that can be used across everything that Cryptic does. It’s definitely something we’ve fleshed out as we look towards the future as well. We’ll have players that are bouncing between CO and Star Trek Online, so they can use those for either game. Or maybe they just want to get a hat.

As opposed to having to do billing for three different or four different solutions, we just made Cryptic bucks and are allowing players to use them wherever they want. It’s actually a model that gets used quite a bit in Asia, for those developers or publishers that have several different online games. You see that concept a little bit with US game cards, but traditionally that’s just used to pay off a subscription fee.

We’re trying to expand that out, so that if players get something with Cryptic bucks on it, they can go “Oh! I want pay for my subscriptions on these two games and buy this product from their store.

http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/71001 ( first offical mention but not saying how those bucks will be used, to me micro+hat+asia says kinda enoug for now ;)  )

http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?p=561001 (complain tread)

now to translate from bill to player language :)
Its a universal cryptic payment system, it will be used to pay your subs whit and to get services.

These services are things like buying a Hat and likely to include character  trasver and rename services.

the interview in no way says anyting about ingame items and excusives,  if its for there services its all fine, if its for Ingame items .. well I just wont say what i think, childern might be reading...

Ony thing I got to say is that I will never read any of yours anymore D.
MMORPG.COM lives on popularity, Its seen in manny featured articles on this site. the more responce it will draw the faster it gets feature status.

This leads to poor and bad articles like this "made for reaction /discusion ?"
No..its made for popularity but the writer obvius has fallen to the level were truth and researts, knowlidge of the subject writen on aint no longer needed.

Might aswell start wring that the holocaust never happened.. we know it hapend but

As for the PVP discussion, Nope ,never, ever will it work the way its now. (anyways its just a tought.)
Im waiting for the game that says..ok..so some like pvp..some dont.. hmm wait a minute!....

*a dev is working hard*

There a New innovative super cool , super epic mechanic.

1:   We will make a mechanic that alouws players to enable there own character FFAPvP
When they have activated the FFAPvP switch they can attack or be attackt  by other FFAPvP players.

2: If someone does not like Full FFAPvP but would like to engage in PvP they can Sent a PvP invite to a other player, do not cunfuze this   whit Duel, you read below why.

3: We will also enable a player to FFAPvP whit a single guild, the guild master or apointed guild player have to accept this invite.
Guild vs guild FFAPvP will get the same mechanic were both guild master must accept the invite, this can not be done by apointed  players.

4:   Each time you enter in to a FFAPvP agrement whit someone or a group this will last a minium of one week, we will add a slider that lets  the parties add a longer period of time to a maxium of 30 days.

In effect this will enable the entire server to play out there conflics in the way they wish it to happen.
The full FFAPvP (read 1: ) will have its own ranking and PvP reward system to promote PvP.

From my experience.

No, How big a game is does not affect quality of roleplay at all.
you need to have about 10 active players for selfsustaining roleplay, you need about 25 to create long term conflict.
The more there are the easyer it gets.

The hard part in a populair game is "ignoring" all ooc and finding the type of players you want. (hardcore, medium fried or a light beer.)
You always need to look out of those new players, new blood revives a rolepay comunity. just like the game it self, the roleplay game needs new people.

Rolepay does not depent on the game or its mechanics, the more mechanics and flavor the easyer it gets.
Hence why Lotro is fairly populair amoung roleplayers,
SWG. now a small game is strong in roleplay deu to mechanics, we could already drop out lore..but whit the deathtroopers its a total joke ;)  ( thats a personal view)
Lotro is strong deu lore and visuals whit less mechanics then swg.
WoW  has no visuals (its getting old..)   , no mechanics worth to mention but its strong numbers makes that roleplay community strong.
The lore of WoW is also simple enoug to do just about anyting you like.

Quality of RP is kinda a personal thing, I like extreme immersive and lots of rules type of rp (la hardcore) others  are totaly freeform and drop a cat and vampire into the game.. quality of roleplay cant be messured then by our own standards.

Go to the beta forums, problaly already be a post about it, beta bin going on for a bit already.
in the global comunity no toughts are uniqe

weres swg? master of all sandbox games ..even dumb down nowadays..

Yea..shureeee

Realy guys..im shure you all know how and have build fine machines... but 90% (even more)  do not have the feeling, knowlidge to build a good system.

I see it so ofthen..  I work in a shop..I am the tech dude that analyses problems whit systems, shopbuild and homebuild.

90% of the shop build problems are deu hardware fabricator error or mismatch components.

90% of the homebuild systems problems are deu customer errors and exploding parts ;)

a 500,- system.. fine go save some bucks cheapcakes.. but you want to be 100% shure that your new 2000,- system is fine and whitin full coverage warranty.

I reject that advice.

if you have the knowhow..fine..

but a 1k-2k system you let the guy in the shop build...warranty is way more important the talking to friends how you build it and blew up the memory cource you put it in the wrong way...already wonderd why it fitted so hard...

No.. buy a Rig thats made by a RL shop company themself, best to be a bigger computer specialist shop, has a service system and can make rigs on command .
You need to be able to bring it in and talk to someone about the problem.

Homebuild systems have no warranty at all.
oh you build it yourself..cool. err i mean... sorry but you probaly connected it worg..no warranty sir..

hu? you say you connected it correctly..fine..prove it..

Now every one wana be a captian, you dont wana boring comunication officer

its like the Jedi in swg, everyone wanted to be a jedi, 90% of swg is jedi.

you roleplay a captain and manage your own crew, next to that you play in fleets and rp the missions both in space and on thr ground whit other players. those players and you fill in the roles of the crew as you have your jobs .. your not only captian, but also a xxxxx officer.  guild leader highest rank? then he is the away team boss.,  your the medic and joe is the science officer. now go find and cure that wierd virus thats killing the planet...

theres always someting to nitpick about for anny mmo, but on this subject i beleve cryptic as put a lot of good tought in it..

Eladi we were talking about players (specifically a dedicated guild group manning a guild ship) while the ship was IN SPACE.  Yes your comment is perfectly correct in regards to a Away Team ON THE GROUND, but has nothing to do with the ship while in space.

According to the OP the game will currently support, we'll call it face to face RP, grouping while on the ground, but while in space the groupings will really be the ships.

There are some that would like to be able to do face to face RP in a group while all are on the same ship, even if that means someone plays the boring comunication officer.

From a non-RP stand point, I have 2 son's (14 & 10) and if all 3 of us played I know the youngest would rather be on the same ship as his brother or me than flying on his own.  Not everybody want's to be the Captain.  I know in SWG that if given the chance I would rather be a ships gunner than fly my own ship.  It was just something I was better at and could contribute more to the mission or Pvp by shooting than flying.

But unlike in SWG there will be no 3d moving around asfar I know.
and no guns to get in,.

designing a mini game for each crew job would be verry expencive.   its resorces vs amound of players wanting someting.
And in this case, most wana be captain ;)

me,..I would love to have a big ship chatroom that acts as a RP comunity home , have internal plots and stuff on..but..well.. for 90%of tha gamers thats boring, silly and not needed.

We can dream, but a 100% rp friendly . RP build mechanics mmo you will not see for the next 10 years .

I think that for the release the feature list is fine and gooed enoug for both RP'ers and Others.
In time when enoug people ask for it they may bring out maybe guild stations ?   guild mining ships ala the new movie :P
but it needs to make money, and money it will not get fromt he 10% roleplayers.. (20% in a big IP like this I guess)

Hm.. half true.

I personaly would upgrade Now. 2180 is not the best cpu, its uposed to be a fine 2.0ghz Duocore but its a bugget model. it does not preform aswell as the older series.

The entire Duocore colection is slowly starving out. the near 3.0 ghz procs are hard to order/get from he supliers .

we are now going into the Qcore/Icore age.  the next year you will see that the Dcores will disapear and that the Qcore is the last alternative for a 32bit system.
We have had the chance ifrom xp to the new "vista engine " so now its realy going to be bye bye old programs. but we have not yet seent he 32to64bit chance.
the new generaion gaming rigs will be the Icore 64bit system, the new Win7 is designt to be be the last switch between the old 32bit and new 64bit software.

anyways.  yes you can wait and hope for a better prize and be shure you realy need it.
or you can just do it and play about anny mmo for the next 3 years.  (single play games you wont be able to play in about a year max two on high settings)
