I had it a few times in Beta 3; however, the usual problem is that the Login Server is down.

My guess is that it's getting hammered from all the Beta Testers trying to log in and it can't handle the load.

It's really long, but ok:

First of all, thank you Trion for letting me into your CB 3. So here is my contribution.

I only played Beta 3 and I only played the Defiant side, as well as, only the mage archtype from 1-20.

INTERFACE: 10/10

Essentially the standard benchmark of what the interface/gui is for MMOs, although really nothing out of the ordinary here. However, I did like the layout editor, all the windows were movable, and that almost all the ("WoW") addons were already part of the default interface with quest tracking, etc.

I tried to change the keybindings of my action bar numerous times, and kept facing a roadblock. It took me a while to figure out that I had to mouseOnOver the action keys and then click the key I wanted. I kept just trying to find it in the list of keybindings. I think a tooltip should pop up to inform the player to "mouseOnOver" the action bar key to rebind it. Perhaps it's already there, and I just turned off the tutorial part by then. Regardless, that has to be more apparent. I kept seeing people asking how to rebind action bar keys in General Chat many times throughout Beta.

GRAPHICS: 9/10

I like the graphics in the game. They do remind me of WaR/Aion, but in a good way. I thought the world looks great, the rifts when they come out of the sky are amazingly good, good mob skins, and clothing textures.

However, there are some graphic glitches throughout the game and I kept seeing "breaks" while zoomed out and moving around in the world. It was annoying, since it happened way too often, but it wasn't "game breaking." It's Beta so I am hoping they are addressing this.

COMBAT: 6-7/10

It's the WoW/WaR/Aion-ish combat system. I really can't comment too much on it; however, it does seem a bit slow/sluggish. The targeting system itself is great with focus, target of target, etc in place; however, occasionally I find that when I hit an action bar ability it doesn't go off. I am not sure if it's due to the GCD or if it just didn't register; however, sometimes things do register even if I do it during the GCD. So, either some abilities are more forgiving during the GCD or perhaps I activated them closer to the end of the GCD or...not sure. I think the interface should have an option for "button queue" just like in EQ2, which can be turned off or on. I am guessing it's on (?) right now, but that it is really short like 0.2s so that sometimes abilities are "queued" and sometimes they are not. I am really not sure, but it's frustrating.

Another issue is the whole GCD thing. Ofc GCDs are necessary, however, I think the devs need to really sit down and think how to implement it to ability specific spells/combos rather than a blanket across the board implementation. I mean I played a lock/necro combo soul build and it was really slow/frustrating to put up all my DoTs, because it took so bloody long. By the time I put them up, the first ones were like already needing to be refreshed. I want to play a lock/necro not micro manage DoTs as 100% of my gameplay (ofc managing DoTs is what my class does, but not to this extent).

Overall, I thought the combat vs mobs was pretty freaking easy. I mean when I first started playing I was literally yawning from boredom. I know it was levels 1-5, but it was so easy, so I was like "ok, maybe it will get better." Yes, it did, but really not that much. The world mobs are way too easy. Ofc if you pull a few at a time it sucks, but 1v1 I could have been reading a newspaper and playing the game. Rift mobs same...I'll talk about rifts next.

RIFTS: 8/10

Ok, Rifts are a cool idea and well what this game is called. Ok, so I can see the marketing team and perhaps the production manager going, "Hey, we need lots of Rifts!" Well...yes, and no. I think Rifts should be what this game is about, but not to the point where they feel like spilled milk in the aisle of the supermarket and we are the cleaners. I know there is going to be a range of opinions of what rifts should be and how they should be implemented into Rift, but currently I think they are not succeeding to the level that they could be.

Currently, rifts are many and stupidly easy. During beta, I think they were everywhere, probably two every 5-10 minutes? You go there, if more then 3-4 people show up it's going to be closed and then you move on. There were just soooo many, I felt like a janitor cleaning up messes in the world. Then there were the drops where you collect things to "purchase" gear. I saw that, and I was "oh no." I mean, I don't see a better way to do it, so that is ok, it was just the fact that it was "Hello, you will need to grind this" just slapped me in the face. But it isn't that bad, and not really a concern. It's the rifts themselves that need work.

They are just too damn many and easy. I mean real easy. I can see there being some easy rifts, because hey we want the noobies to feel like they just did something, but really what did they do. The rift was a joke to begin with. So my suggestion is to have fewer, but tougher rifts. I mean rifts (and the idea of this game???) was so a rift would appear and potentially change the world if left unattended. It was to make the game world dynamic and different. A changing world! How great! Except, that rarely happens, because they get closed way too fast, because there are so damn easy. Also, they show up on your map, which I feel is a bad thing. Have them appear but not on the map so players don't know where they are, so they can grow, make them tougher, and send out raiding parties (not always elites) to try to conquer nearby things or try to place territory holders; however, the actual rift should be tough and will take a party of high levels to kill, or just a bloody lot of noobies. I mean seriously these mobs open a rift go into another world, what do they do give a roll call out to the most wimpiest of monsters..."Let's see here, is that you Henry? Yeah, ok, well you suck as a water elemental so let's send you. I mean we made all this effort to open a rift into another world, but our goal is not to conquer it. It's to send our most pathetic fellow monsters...and...well we don't know why. I guess we just enjoy getting our *** kicked."

Basically rifts need like a 200% boost, while having like 60% of them a 50% boost, but will still fall into the category of easy (because of right now, they are house of cards), but still doable and somewhat of a challange. Perhaps, this is just me. Perhaps, I don't want them to just be "dynamic PQs" reminiscentof WaR, but something that will actually change the game world, and perhaps even be a part of the world because they are just so damn hard to kill.

DUNGEON - IRON TOMB: 9/10

Ok, I guess I had my doubts when I first went into my first dungeon. I am not sure why, but I just felt that I would be disappointed to some degree; however, to my surprised it was really well done. I mean I was impressed! The dungeon looks great graphics wise, and the mobs are interesting. My only suggestion again, is to make the mobs 10-20% harder and the boss mobs harder as well. I mean sure my parties still wiped while doing the dungeons, but it was usually due to a bad pull or something, we never died on a boss. I think a challenge is what makes it fun. It almost...almost reminded me of vanilla WoW and BFD and SFK. I am not sure how many readers actually played vanilla WoW and did those instances, but they were hard back then and damn fun.

I am looking forward to seeing more dungeons.

CRAFTING: 3-4/10

Honestly, perhaps I would give a lower score, higher score? It's hard to say, since I didn't really get that far into crafting. I think I have crafted in all MMOs I have played, so I have seen and crafted a lot of shizznizzle in my day. The crafting system itself reminds me a lot of Aion rather than WoW, but essentially the same. It's slow, it's boring, it's uncreative, but it is what it is. It works. You can queue a bunch of stuff, go get a coffee and move on to the next item. Ok, so it doesn't have the amazing EQ2/Vanguard crafting system, but eh it works.

That isn't really what bothers me. It's the fact that the stuff I made just suck. Ok, I never got past cotton (the tailor type crafter...whatever it's called...not important, it's just semantics). However, I would craft something and then a quest reward was on par or better. I was like what! I just spent all that material and time (!!) leveling up this stupid profession to have it worthless. Ok, so I can make bags, but really...make it worth while.

I mean, I was a max tailor in WoW on my mage, and man did tailoring suck. I mean it sucked bad. I spent hours and tons of gold leveling it up...for essentially bags. Make crafting useful, Trion!! Make it better than any other item (and on par with raid gear). I mean look at EQ2. Whoever thought of their crafting system was the man. I mean the system was amazing, but not only that, but the best of gear of that gear was crafted (ok, not best, but it was very, very viable).

I know there is the augment thing...which I failed a few times, but really it isn't enough. But then again, I didn't craft that much so perhaps I am missing something huge. I would suggest a "crit" to crafting that gives you a chance to "crit" it to make the next tier up (green->blue, etc a la Aion). I am not sure. And perhaps it was just for the "tailoring" profession, but really it's utterly useless (at least in lower tiers). Or perhaps there was rare recipe drops that I just missed...regardless the greens for that level (first and second tier) just suck. Normal quest rewards should be at the bottom, not crafted gear...*sigh*

QUESTING: 7/10

It's the same o' s.... as always. Nothing can really be said. It's run of the mill so it gets a 7. However, I never thought I was doing too much running around back and forth to the same 2 people who want this and that done. So I give Trion props for that. Nor did a see a lot of "send x to y" unless it was to lead you to the next quest hub, so that is good too. I mean I remember in AoC where I think I had to go to the same place and then back to another place again about 6 times in a row. Rift doesn't have that, so they are well done in that respect.

I have heard that Rift quest system seems linear, and perhaps it is, but it isn't too terrible. Also, it's only 1-20 so not sure. Regardless, to me it's not too big of a deal if it is or not. There were plenty of rifts that give pretty decent xp to do if you want to stray from the norm.

Personally, I think the questing system is fine the way it is, and would have no qualms if it was this way throughout the game.

PvP: N/A-8/10

Hard to rate this, since I only did a bit. And the bit I did was me being exposed to the opposing faction raiding our area. Regardless, I love open world PvP and that is what I live for. Essentially, that is why I play MMOs and the only reason, so I am biased.

I liked that there was open world PvP and that people were going to each others area. I saw, but never used the port-thingy that you can use to port to the opposing factions area. Like I said, I never used it so I can't comment, but I hope it's fun. I always had tons of fun doing it in Aion and using rifts.

The whole PvP flag system works like the PvP servers in WoW, which I think is a good design.

I guess the whole thing I will say is I really hope that Warfronts (or whatever they are called) never enter into the game. I have seen it before...and I swear I will see it again, the whole BG style kills open world PvP. We all saw it in vanilla WoW...when will devs learn. Arg, it's frustrating...so frustrating, but it will continue to survive, because it draws subscribers...initially, but overall it ruins the game and kills it. But whatever, I said my peace.

GAMEPLAY: 8/10

The game was very stable, and as everyone has said before it was very polished. There were a few graphical bugs throughout my beta testing; as well as, a few times that the mobs got bugged in Iron Tomb. However, I think WoW had that mob bug all the way into TBC, so I really can't put too much stress on it other than I hope it gets fixed.

The game world is immersive enough; however, a bit linear. Although, I am only guessing it's due to the 1-20 thing and essentially "tunneling" everyone to end up at the main city. I am hoping the rest of the world is rather quite open. I can understand guiding new players into the game, but once 20+ let them go where they please and if they get lost...that's half the fun! I guess I am optimist, but if the rest of the game is that linear I don't think I could continue. I am hoping open world means open world.

Another thing I would like to address is hp/mana regen. I think it's way too fast. I understand the need to lessen downtime, but I never had to drink once as a mage in all 20 levels (including instancing 3 times). I mean, I practically heal full in a few seconds. This will be very, very, very bad in PvP when people "break" combat and then regen. Or I just hope PvP combat lasts 30s after last attack otherwise people will just cc, wait till they are out of combat, regen (currently like super regen) and then be ok.

OVERALL: 7-8/10

Hard to really give a fair assessment, since I didn't see a lot of the game. I only got to level 20 because of the extended 4 hours of Beta so I experienced a little bit of 20, and riding a mount and perhaps actually making a difference in PvP.

It was unfortunate that I didn't hit 20 sooner, since I would have loved to raid Silverwood, so I can't comment on that.

It's funny I guess because I went through a few different phases while playing this game. Overall, I am kind of sick and tired of "these" types of games, let's call them Theme Park. I played WoW for years, EQ2, and preordered AoC, WaR, and Aion, but I wanted to keep an open mind and give this game a chance.

Initially, ofc I was bored. My hp/mana regen was ridiculously fast, as were the mobs ridiculously easy. I figured since it's early levels it was the devs way of keeping noobs in the game. OK, I grinding out the quest system and did rifts along the way. By the time I got to around level 15, I was sure I was done with the game. I got to a point where I really couldn't be bothered to log into the game world, there just wasn't any depth for me to continue playing.

Regardless, I logged back on grinded out a few more quests and got to level 17 and went on my first instance into Iron Tomb. That is when the game got interesting/fun. I was also at a point where I could help out in PvP here and there.

1-5: snorefest
6-11: meh, quest/rift grind. Was indifferent to the game and just chugging along doing the things I had to do
12-16: bored with the game
17-20: had fun, and now might consider continuing with it post-launch (it all depends on how PvP is done!!! seriously).

It wasn't Iron Tomb specifically that started my interest, but I guess it was the fact that finally this "MMO" gave an "MMO" experience. I mean, I actually "had" to party with someone to play the game. I can understand solo game play, but to the point where the mobs practically kill themselves? So I guess, I became interested because the game got semi-challenging (Iron Tomb) and that I had to party with some people.

I was also a part of PvP and could contribute and possibly raid the opposing faction's area (though I ran out of time). Also, since I was a higher level I could put more points into my souls and contribute and earn more in rift "PQs." The game seem to open up around 20, so that is what interests me...the possibility of hope, hope that the game continues to get better 20+.

Parting thoughts:

Essentially what perked my interest towards the end of my play and what bored me to tears during the middle area of my gameplay was the gameplay it self. The world as it is currently does not pose or brings any sort of challenge, though when it did it finally got interesting.

And even though rifts are a major part of this game, the game world doesn't draw me into it enough for me to care about defending it from these meaningless rifts that keep popping up like weeds. What I am saying is if the rifts were more difficult and actually posing a threat then yes, let me help destroy, but currently it's "oh another rift big deal...by the time I get there 3 people will have showed up and closed it already." They never posed a threat, a serious threat besides DM events.

Specific thoughts:

Mage class: necro/lock/dom build.

As I was playing this class combo, I saw myself going more and more necro. I found DoTs in general were lackluster and again with the GCDs it made it really annoying. I mean if I have 1000+ hp with crap gear and as a mage at level 20, and my DoTs do like 15 damage per tick, and some fighter in pvp has like 2000+ hp what am I really doing? Furthermore, I have to deal with the stupid GCD with each DoT cast...it so reminds me of the Magus class in WaR and the weaksauce of their DoTs.

I temporarily switched to a pyro/ele build and I had an insta cast that did like 78 fire damage, which is what one of my DoT casts do in 16s...

Regardless, I switched back to my original build, because well I like necro/lock class (every MMO I have played a mage/pet class all the way back in UO times...I was a mage/tamer).

DoTs need to scale better with spell power, need a boost in power, and some need to negate GCD. Also, DoTs being able to crit individually and not on cast would be a bonus, but that isn't a biggie at all.

Also, pet aggro needs to be fixed. When my pet was on follow it would keep getting aggro from mobs that I was going around. This is a problem, and would be a serious one in instances. Do you really want pet classes to have to dismiss and resummon their pets? It's just really annoying. I suggest making the pet non-aggro while on follow unless carrying out a command (i.e. attacking), or at the very least lessening pet aggro in general

Peace.

I posted this in the Beta feedback thread on the Rift forums. I am not sure if it's accessible by everyone, so I will re-post it here for people who are interested in Rift that didn't have the opportunity to try out Beta 3.

I will also pay 120 million if you use my buddy key and subscribe to Eve. Just PM me here in MMORPG with your email.

You can also PM me or Evemail me in game to get info about how to play the game and I will help you.

Nice that Terror From the Deep made the list. X-COM what a great series, but damn that game was hard.

#1 Funcom (AoC hype and lies...and continued lying)

#2 Obsidian (NWN2 - it makes AoC bugs look like a polished game)

#3 Sony (They just don't seem to be a company that cares)

Great and interesting read. It's these little things that really stand out for me. It also shows the care and passion that is put in, and it all adds up in the end. I hope the people at NCSOFT NA continue their great work.

Why is this in the news section? Big clans/alliances/guilds get Disbanded all the time

You don't get much bigger then BoB.

this is one of those historic gaming moments.

Hardly, it's a game with about 250k subscribers or so its far from a "hisoric gaming moment". Guilds backstab each other all the time, the only reason this gets posted here is because part of the EVE community is known for being a bunch of drama queens.

You sound like a complete idiot. And it's obvious you don't or haven't played Eve very long (active 1 year or more). Yes, 250k subscribers....oh yeah all on ONE server.

There is no mmo game that even comes close. WoW is like maybe 20k per server, and maybe 5k concurrent connetions. Eve has sometimes up to 30-40k people playing at the same time.

Furthermore, add to the sandbox of Eve and how the players shape the world and is Eve...there is no comparison in MMO history. You thinking it's not that big deal shows me how little knowledge you actually have of Eve and MMOs in general...

ah a '04 login...great another WoW player who thinks he "knows" MMOs.

Edit: Shadowbane had such things, but not on such a global scale. They were server specific guilds and they didn't rule the server since almost the game conception till now (around 5 years). BoB directly and indirectly influenced how Eve was played by thousands if not 10s of thousands of players.

Had this been any other MMO, Id have agreed that it was epic, but since were talking about Eve, not so much...

I guess you are puting your opinion about Eve over the fact and impact of the situation. If you claim it isn't epic, then please state other things in other MMOs (in game) that can compare?

Basically, an alliance (i.e. guild of guilds) that has dictated the world of a sandbox MMO for like 5 years has now finally been put to rest (at least for now). Please, give me another example of such a guild/alliance in any other MMO with as much impact and influence as BoB held over a game world.

There are a few incidents in MMOs that I will personally remember. One is Lord British getting PK-ed in UO, and this. And I have played MMOs for a long ass time.

Wow, epic.

Thanks for the heads up, I haven't played Eve in a while so I haven't been keeping track of all the drama. This will go down in the MMO history books. It's literally an end of an era in Eve.

Well with regards to DFO, I think it will be a much better game, regardless if they deliver everything they are promising. The devs seem to be gamers first, and marketers second. They want to create a game that they themselves want to play, which seems to be much closer to home for a lot of the old UO fans...about openness to the player.

Furthermore, they are creating this game around PvP, not as an after thought like so many MMOs, which eventually butcher classes and spells in the name of "balance."

Their ideology of what an MMO should be and their idea of PvP is just so right that even if it is subpar, I feel it will be much better than things like AoC (and really, I had such high hopes for this game).

I gave the game 5/10, which is not enough for me to continue to play. So I have unsubscribed even though I preordered and was part of Early Access.

The game had great potential, but really lack of understanding some of the fundamentals of MMO messed up this game.

- chat, friends, and party system, general UI is horrible. It is clunky, annoying, and I feel I am constantly fighting with it (this is a fundamental flaw, this is an MMO chatting, partys, and friends and guilds, etc should be one of the easiest things to be able to do!)

- bugs (ok, it's a new game, but it shouldn't be out yet. I feel it's still in beta. The bugs in the interface and video are horrible and just annoying

- PvP on the PvP servers are ok, but the devs have no real clue about PvP. They initially had zones and rez spawns with no immunity timer so people would insta die upon rez (hehe). Other on going changes to classes, feats, and spells and "balance" to PvP shows that this was barely tested. They are making some horrible changes, and show they have no clue what they are doing

- graphics = great->amazing? (I wouldn't know I play on lowest-lowest settings with 5-10 fps)

- quests: repeative. For example the Ruins quest, i think you have to run to the Ruins, to the very far end and back to town about 5 times to actually finish some of the quests

- quest UI: I think it's great, here they did a good job

- Terrain: beautiful looking but some what linear...as someone has said I don't feel the "openess" of the MMO world. This is just my opinion.

Currently, I recommend save your money.

How is your account over three years old?  I mean the game will be out three full years once November 9th 2007 hits?

I hate to defend sony but i also hate people who dont think about something before they post it, its ok though your mad and mad people dont think clearly.

Thing about the warping, its not easy to prosecute.  When i first bought this dual core pc and put all the goodies on the comp, my toon would have moments of normal play, super slow play, and times i could run across commonlands in a snap literally.  This went on for a couple weeks and i thought it was just sonys servers since new expansion came and it was just lag spikes.  Well it kept happening and i did some research on the forums to find sony's prefered way to patch it.  It works fine now but this can happen to many others who may not even read the forums to find out what is going on.

Your first screw up was posting information bout the toon, ie name, guild, server.  When you add a supposed violation with that name its now considered an attempt to black list that player.

Ok so you back up your blacklisting with a fraps video, good for you but not on soe forums.  A video can be altered, and we all know there are alot of mmo players with alot of free time on thier hands that doing something, like editing a picture or fraps video to ban someone, is not far past them.  Also what you percieve as warping may be your own bad video lag or connection lag.

To sum it all up, use your /petition and let the cs/gm team investigate it ......................... trust me they do ban people they find guilty of said accusation.  When say a 100 people actually use the petition system on one person then they really know something is up ............ or maybe some guy just black listed this guys name in the forums cuase he stole his node ?

You will see this kinda crap in every mmo you play sadly so ill look for the copy paste job of this post in age of conan forums soon lol.

PS sony make your petition system more user friendly.

{ Mod Edit }

First of all you say you "hate people who post before  they think" that is a bit harsh, but then again you hate yourself by your own definition. Let me clarify.

1) How can I have played this game for 3 years, if you claim that the game will be 3 years in Nov 2007, then why does my account have a veternan 3 year reward? And even if it hasn't been exactly 3 years, my point was I have been playing this game a long time. Let's not get too picky, ok. Perhaps it's been 2.5 years, is that good for you? You are really pulling at straws.

2) yes, it could have been video lag or connection lag, but again in my last post I specifically said that I talked to the rest of my party the first time we saw him and they all saw it too. Furthermore he was a _known_ warper, meaning they have seen him before and did the same thing in the past. Again, I know warping between lag, I thought I made that crystal clear, but I guess not for the slow witted.

3) and yes, I put his character info on the forum, because I wanted the GMs to investigate and furthermore for other people to see it and if they also saw it or saw him doing it before would also post "yes I saw him do it too." You said they might do something after 100 people petition. That is a joke. If that is the kind of response you think is worthy then I can see why you might defend Sony.

Look at their petition system is sucks, all one can do is really do /petition <name> no description or much of it. Do you really think this is a system designed to give feedback from the players or a system designed to be as easily ignorable as possible? Your expectations are quite low, thus I can see why Sony does what they do. The bottom feeders just accept things the way they are.

4) it's true there are people to do have a lot of time and distort videos and such for some kind of lame revenge thing (I guess). Thus, again, and I will state it again for the third time, I did not expect the ban of this person or black list, I wanted the GMs to investigate. I posted the thread with his info so that other posters could have a chance to also say "yes, I have seen it too" to confirm what I say..and perhaps make up that magic 100 people number that you think is required for any action at all on Sony's part.

If a video fraps and all the information about the character and the situation should not be given, how do you suggest one should then go about it? I guess it must look like a post stating  'some guy which I can't state the name, guild or server was doing something, which I can't show any video of, but hey take my word for it." I did the exact opposite and used evidence and specific information to help the investigation.

5) so you expect to see this copy and paste on the AoC forums? I hope so, if people care about a game and want to help the company find holes in their game. Though I really don't blame anyone but Sony. They are the ones that have not patched this exploit, and the game has been out for a long time. They are the ones that seem to not really take direct or active action against said exploit, since people still do it and openly do it. From my experience, nothing really will happen. Frapping the cheater obviously does nothing. One can't give the information (as per what you state and against the Forum rules), and one has to wait till many people report just for an investigate (100 petitions?).

You see, the problem with such a high number of petitions is as people petition and see nothing gets done, and evidence doesn't seem to matter (ie video) less people will report. For example, I won't bother reporting warpers anymore, because...what's the point.

Many people feel the same way as me that I have talked to. In fact, no one I have talked to about this has had a positive thing to say and all have gone to "don't bother Sony does nothing." You are in fact the first person that has said different, which makes me wonder...Sony employee? j/k.

So you did something any other company would react the same to, that makes SOE bad.

You don't accuse people on Public Forums, try it on any other Game Forum and see how long the thread lasts.

There are official channels for this /petition /report which actually get to the people who are in charge.

Also yes a Video is an accusation and yes its a one sided story. You know there is this thing called lag.

Newsflash Age of Conan will have hackers, it will have hackers from the time it launches to the time the plug is pulled.

Like every other game on the internet, infested with scumbag hackers.

Interesting responses, and I agree with most from what was written. I am only going to respond to this poster, since he really doesn't make any real point. This isn't lag. I have played enough to know what lag is. It was warping. Why?

I have probably killed about over 3000 people in Nag with my characters, so I have pvped enough to know what lag is. But when you and your party look fine as well as everything else and you see a guy jumping all over your screen that is warping. Again, that was just one video, but we saw him before doing the exact same thing, which is why I was ready for him for fraps. Also, I was discussing what I saw with my group members and some knew this guy to be a warper and all saw the same thing I did.

Furthermore, warping is a very real issue in EQ2, and if you played it enough and saw the video you would know it wasn't a case of lag.

Anyways, yes I have talked to a few people about the issue and the concensus is about the same. Just don't bother since Sony does nothing. This evidence stands because people still do it. I saw another 70 champion FP warping today. People do it because they know the reprecussions are minimal if any. Any other respectable game would hunt down hackers and ban their account, not care about doing nothing so those cheaters keep paying subscription fees.

You mention AoC that they will have cheaters, etc. The real issue isn't that these problems exist (nothing is perfect), it's how the company response to these issues. From what I have heard from many other players (and unfortunately a positive response story can be counted on 1 hand and perhaps 1 finger) is that Sony does nothing.

Anyways, this post was more of a heads up to players thinking about playing EQ2 and other or future Sony games (fyi, this is my first and last Sony game)

Again, I didn't state that action should be made by my video (like banning) only that they should take note of this player and keep an eye on him. The fact that they completely rejected it and dismissed it is another thing.

And if a video of a person cheating isn't evidence...then what is?

Well this game is pretty old. I mean my account is over 3 years old, yet hacking and cheating still exist in this game and everyone knows about it. So the question is, how is this possible? Is Sony to lazy to fix it, care?

A common way to cheat is by warping. So a group of us are pvping as usual on the Nagafen server and we come across a warper. He obviously gets away by warping off our screen in a matter of seconds, even though we all have 45% sow. We report him (not sure what that will do really), so I get my fraps ready for the next time we see him. Sure enough to come across him and I turn it on.

I then make this post on the forums, hoping some sort of action will be taken and that more action would be taken on cheaters by Sony (which doesn't seem to be the case from everyone that I have heard...hence the open cheating).

I post the name, guild, server, and faction of the cheater and just suggest that the GMs keep an eye on him, since he is an known cheater. Here is the vid I made.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvqMOF2qV3s

So then I get the respose:

I removed your "warper frapped" thread.

If you believe another player is behaving inappropriately in-game, please use /petition to report this.  Making accusations such as this on the forums is inappropriate as it is only a single side of the story.  Please do not make accusations regarding other players misconduct on the official forums as it amounts to blacklisting.

So yes, Sony believes a video recording of a cheater is an "accusation" and only "one side of the story" (bahahaha) yet they know that warping exists, and that people do it. Furthermore, my account is over 3 years old, and I have made about 2 posts total on the forums, so it's not like I have ever made such a post before.

It's a good game, but my last Sony game...waiting till Age of Conan and then be rid of Sony forever. The lack of caring really is a downer. Too bad really.

Dont bother,

I got the game, installed, played for about 10 minutes, got bored so fast, quit, uninstalled. End of story.

That's not even considered a try. A try would be, to at least go through the tutorial.

Honestly, just going through a tutorial isn't even a trial. A trial is using the trial account which is about 10-14 days and giving it a "try" for a few hours and a few days of that time.

Sorry to say but Moobkrad you have no idea what you are talking about if you think 10 minutes is enough to give Eve a "try." It's such a complex game that it would take a few days really to just understand the game.

Rather it sounds like you wanted an action flying simulation game and Eve wasn't it. In that case it's understandable but it doesnt make Eve boring, it just means it wasn't what you expected.
First and foremost, I will say WoW was a great game in the start. It still has it's interesting aspects and the game design is great. Actually the player mobility and game play mechanics is probably one of the best I have played. These are the pluses for this game.

For the casual player...it's hard really to comment on this. The author of the article obviously is concerned with solo play, so in that it's ok if you are a casual player while all your friends zoom past you and you can't party with them anymore (but that is a problem with all MMO that involve levels), so that aspect doesn't seem to be a factor to the author.

I have played WoW since Feb of 2005, and after playing on and off, I have officially shut it down yesterday. I was bored with the game for months, but just had my account to play with friends I had. The problem with warcraft is that it is really farmcraft. Farm for items, farm for honor, farm for mats...there isn't any real point to the game except to get better gear. Sure, it's fun to explore a new zone when it comes out, but after it's done...it goes on "farm mode" as big guilds call it, to get honor in that faction or for items.

This comment on BG for pvp is a joke, I BGed tons, and it is a real poor excuse for pvp, but the only outlet there is. World PvP died when cross server BG started, because instead of waiting for 30 mins->1h+ to BG you have instant pvp access...though in a controlled and set rule world. Thus, world pvp died because the only ones out in the world are on their way to instances or farming for honor (talking about 60 here). Sure a few skirmishes arise, but these far and inbetween fights doesn't count as a PvP oriented server (thus PvP server is almost moot).

I find it odd that you claim to have played UO for 3 days...why bother even mentioning that, since it shows you really didn't play it. UO is everything WoW isn't, and I and many like me are waiting for a game to come that will be like it again (DF don't let me down!!).

In Wow sure there are raids, so you take over an ally/horde town...hold it for a while, then so what? The npcs spawn, after a while people leave and nothing has changed.

The expansion will just bring more of the same. It will be interesting to see how it will hold up with other new games coming out that actually give purpose to being top level. Taking over towns (and owning them), etc...

Not knocking the people that still play WoW, just saying there is a cap on the playability on the game, one which I and many others have had enough of.

As a casual player, not sure what you can do at 60 besides BG, and perhaps get invited to some PUG instances where you probably wont have an equal chance to roll on items...oh well. In the mean time I am waiting for other games to come...and hope they are what they claim to be.

Well been a long time reader, but never created an account because never really had anything to say, but this NWN2 article really made me speak up.

As others have said, why is Obsidian getting praise? Everything that is in NWN2 (game wise) was in NWN1, furthermore, as another poster said, they totally butchered this game.

I bought this game hoping with the long wait for a new and better NWN, but what I found is the exact same thing, with just a new rule set. More than that, it's worse than the original in terms of on-line play. It's like the devs never even tested the multi-player aspect of the game! If they did, have the QA people fired, because how can you miss the retarded element of when one player zones in a party the WHOLE party zones, this is in any world created game.

If playing in the single campaign in mmo-style, well the whole game pauses as someone talks to an npc. How annoying is that? The lag issue is still around and worse, the mobility of character movement hasn't improved, nothing has. It's just been added with newer graphics and a new campaign.

There are too many bugs in this game as well...I want my money back. And I am really choked about all the great reviews about this game. It shows me the people writing the articles really don't "test" the game, nor have they played the first one much, to give NWN2 the praise that it is getting (I played nwn1 for over 2 years).

All in all, I have this game a 2/10. Honestly, a waste of money. The single player mode is good though, but that isn't worth the $60 you will be paying for this game. The question really is being asked, what did Obsidian do? Nothing, just a new face...with the same old problems (well with a lot more problems, as it is almost unplayable in multipler).
