Just for the record I am not a fanboy and I am not even sure I am purchasing this game yet, however;

When in the closed beta I found performance to be a lot better. Warband v Warband in tier 4 was very smoothe for me. I had a very constant FPS above 30 with no freezes. I also did not have the same "Mit mapping?" I get now. <That thing where textures only load when your right up close>

In the open beta however I seem to get stutters and little freezes all the time, even though there doesn't seem to be as many people on screen as before. And the loading of textures has become REALLY noticeable for me, becomming quite irritating.

I don't know why this has happened, it doesn't really make sense. Unless having more people in a zone, regardless of being near you or not has an effect on your FPS? o.O

IM PATCHING

204mb file i think it was originally.
Note: I was in the closed beta, so I did not have to deal with registering.

gl guys!

what speeds do you get?

Hardly anything. Need to keep restarting client after a while because it freezes.
I think i have done about 5% so far. After 20-30mins maybe =/
Right now its just sitting there trying to connect I think.

Oh. Sorry to quote myself but. Its now patching at about 55kbps I think.
It doesn't actually have a speed shown, just a progress bar =/
Only 160mb to go >.<

New account pages will be available at www.war-europe.com tomorrow morning from 08.30. To gain Open Beta access, create a fresh account using these pages, log in with it and enter the code you have been given. This only applies to new testers; all previous testers have automatic Open Beta access

A minor patch will be available before the servers are brought online early afternoon tomorrow. The suspense will soon be over; WAR is dawning and we all have a very exciting time ahead of us.

This is posted on war-europe. Not sure if its been posted already but I thought you people would like to know. Thanks

Wow.... Amazing rant. You'll probably make the OP teary eyed next time he eagerly checks how his shitty lil poll is doing >.<

Not sure if this has been posted already. When i logged on Steam just now, I got a news update informing me that Age of Conan was now available to be purchased through them. Also with 10% off till Sep. 11th ($53.99)

(I do not love or hate Funcom)

On the official Ryzom website, on the left theres the option to download client. From here your also given a link to create an account.

Dunno how long this has been like this but it worked for me earlier today. Hope I helped

Hmmmm. Im a bit concerned about populations. This game was dropped by the developers in the past because of low subscriptions? I would hate to play a sandbox style game with empty servers, no matter how good the game is. Other than that I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

Now this is absolutely wrong - the game was not "dropped by" previous owners because of lack of subscribtions. The previous owners HAVE DROPPED all the potential players because of total lack of proper marketing on their part. And we sincerely hope that new owners have learned from previous owners totally moronic mistakes...

Atm servers are blooming with life. There are tons of players on the starter island as well as on the continents - Come and see for yourself ;)

Sorry I think you misunderstood. I was asking if they dropped it, as I know no history of this game :)
Anyway right now I am downloading the client and I will give it a try. However low populations made me quit before finishing the trial last time I tried this game and there is no telling what populations will be like once it becomes subscription based again

Buddy keys were always intended to be implemented. It is not their fault you don't like their game or that you could not wait. However, the keys are being setup within the next week or two, according to the latest dev report.

Because this means one of several things:
1. You really, truly, do not like the game for some reason only you are privileged to. To me this is odd because there are so many other games out there - mmo, pc or console based - that suck even worse than AoC. You feel a need to let the world know why this game is bad, and you do just that by flaming everyone related to it.
2. AoC is surprisingly good and is a real threat to your favorite game - may it be WoW, LoTRO, Everquest, GW or what ever - so you feel forced to try and push it down into the ground. You need for people not to like AoC so they can continue playing your favorite instead.
3. You simply do not care about the game one way or another but you love to indulge yourself in the spirit of forum posting. You love hacking down on games just to create a reaction.
Maybe there are more, sure there are, but i might be close to one of which that you represent am i not? Ladies and gentlemen, start you flaming!!

4. You're such a fanboi that Funcom grants you +1 fanboism which is a "trait" that lets you oversee all the major problem pitfalls. Rock On!

Hmm. I think the OP was aiming at people like you guessing by the way you just used some LOTRO term to badly make a point. Anyway you just helped prove him right so nicely done.

If you really need to ask then wow.... just wow.....

The level of stupidity on these forums still amazes me..... The OP is 44 years old.... wow... just wow.....

Wow, sounds like someone is from a boring family

Its ran amazingly well for me compared to open beta. Although I have noticed some of the textures can take a bit long to load the first/2nd time you see them. But that may be a fault with my settings. Other than that, all is going well for me.

This link has been posted before in its own topic but check this. I hope it is correct

Haha yeah I think everyone in same situation as you. I been playing a bit of DOD Source and TF2, give mmorpg's a break in anticipation... Kinda like fasting :)

Anyway, having tourn all my ligaments in my ancle, looks like i got a week of work a head of me. Bummer huh?

As I have found with other MMOs, most recently and inparticular; LOTRO, the vast majority of the players on RP servers did not RP. Or at least they spent little time doing so. However, I did find that the average age and mental age (most importantly) was higher than that of the normal servers.

Cheers

Getting pretty confused by all of this. Can someone tell me if the following is still or ever was possible, and if so, how?

For a UK resident, Early Access with enough time to download the client, with Rhino as a preorder bonus.
Thanks
