The main reason I'm even thinking about getting this game is that there's no sub costs, and it seems like the pvp might be good. If it had a sub cost I probably wouldn't bother.

The hype really is bad though.

Highly doubt it. Diablo has a solid following, even if it does seem like there are lots of haters but that's the case with pretty much every game.

Most of the haters will most likely be playing D3 regardless of their complaints.

Will be too busy playing Diablo to even remember this game by the time it comes out.

Forums seem to be a majority of complainers and seems they always will be. Things change, get used to it.

Lol @ people who run past white items. Like guy above said, White items can double your armor/damage. Also I pick them up to sell them too. Though when I start maxxing out my armor with blues, Im less picky about picking up white items. Still, every piece is extra gold. Why wouldnt you pick it up? Too lazy to click a button? You can teleport for free, lol.

After I got blacksmith, I wasnt selling any of my blues. I was salvaging them all. And upping your crafting takes money. So... whites make the money. Blues make the items.

People don't pay attention to white's when they know for a fact that they already have better equipment, and most of the time you're gonna be dropping those whites to pickup blues anyway. Simple waste of time to bother with whites on a max level character.

I'll pickup whites if there's a chance they can be used, but really, an inventory full of whites for 50 gold is hardly worth the time, especially when monsters drop more than 50 gold.

Ohhh kayyyy, the gold farmers are somehow gonna make more money selling whites for like 3g each while every other player will be instead at the least be converting the blue to crafting mats that will sell for 100+ g each?

And by the way, with magic find gear, whites may be upgraded to magic gear.

I really don't know where you come up with this stuff.

1. Don't know, but the replay value is high if going through higher difficulties.

2. There are elite and mini boss type monsters that drop blues frequently, anything that drops loot is capable of dropping them though. Rares can be dropped anything that drops loot too but these actually are rare, so don't plan on seeing many besides the AH or something. Rares can also be crafted with rare mats.

3. AFAIK, crafting is totally random. Can't choose any of the stats.

4. I think graphics are final and it really isn't bad.

I think people argueing about the ease of the game have something coming... on D3's forums the devs are actually saying people won't be able to handle Inferno difficulty for awhile without exploiting, or playing ways that are unintentional.

Looks fine IMO, but people will find anything to QQ about.

I'm sorry guys, but I have to strongly disagree with most of the people on this thread, and agree w/ only a few.

First, I strongly disagree that Diablo 3 is anything but a masterpiece. Now, before d/l'ing and playing the beta yesterday, I really wasn't excited at all for this game. Why? B/c it's an ARPG, I've played hundreds of them and had gotten really bored with the whole genre. I didn't think anything could be done to bring me back to it. But I was wrong. Now, to be honest, I haven't seen anything in the game that is groundbreaking, or moves the genre forward by leaps and bounds. But, and this is a BIG BUT (excuse the pun), it is alot of FUN. And when we get right down to it, what else does a game need to be? It's fun, and that's enough for me.

Now, for the things I do agree with in this thread (and I know I'm going to be flamed for this, but oh well, I have to call a duck a duck....).

It's been obvious for a long while now, but never more so then today, that nothing, NOTHING, is ever going to satisfy the people that troll these forums. There are a lot of very intelligent people here, that express their thoughts and desires very well, but a lot of these people also seem to have gotten very bitter and I don't think anything will ever satisfy this lot. I understand opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one, and is entitled to their own, and express their thoughts and feelings however they like. But I have also come to the conclusion that many people here seem to have become frustrated w/ games as a whole.

My thoughts on the bitterness that lurks in these forums are that this was caused by the disapointment that the MMO market has become after all the promise it held early on. I mean, I still dream about recapturing the wonder and excitment of those first few months of logging into EQ back in the day, but, I've come to the conclusion it's just not going to happen. I haven't held a sub to an MMO for about 2 years now, since I left EQ2. And I miss it, terribly. But I haven't let that turn me bitter on all games. Not every game needs to be as immersive, or groundbreaking, as those early MMO's felt, and if you expect that out of every game you play, you're always going to be disapointed.

I don't know, I could be way off the mark here, and I'm sure people will say that I am. But that's how it seems to me, and again, everyone has an opinion, and everyone likes what they like. All I'm saying is that maybe people need to take a step back.

Very good post. And yeah, theres probably a bunch of jaded, dissapointed vets around on this site.

What you said about D3 though is probably spot on and likely to be the root of the "conflict" over this game: there seems to be nothing clearly new, special or "move-the-genre-forward-ish" about this game.

But some people who play it/look at it/read about it end up being bitten by the intangible Fun-Bug, thus its FUN for those people. For the people who doesnt catch the Fun-Bug though, it looks/plays kinda standardish and doesnt really seem special in any way.

Really, the "its just fun" argument is not at all a useful argument on a forum because it really says nothing, unless you know the persons taste in games and it happens to match your own 4 times of 5 (or doesnt match 4 of 5 times, which would be useful too for making a decision ).

I'll tell ya what's fun, using the barbarian ability that blasts stuff to the moon when you kill it, lol.

I find it funny Blizzard ushered in a new era for MMOs, and they'll do it again with Hack n Slash games.

There's a few disgruntled "vets" here that will pretty much shit on anything they can, but the proof is in the pudding that Diablo 3 will be a success when they're having troubles with their servers from so many people trying to play on the stress test.

Ushering in a new area of Hack n Slash games huh?

So this isn't a game for the vets? It's for the new gamers?

An Isometric view, point and click hack n' slash game with low end graphics is meant for new gamers? lol....

The Vets are pretty much the bulk of those interested in that type of game, though the new gamers will probably enjoy the WoW aspect of Diablo 3 and the easier game play.

Oh, it's a game for the vets... just not the disgruntled ones who have rose tinted goggles fused to their heads.

People like good free stuff which is why I want to play more D3 and not TERA.

No, developers haven't lost their touch... gamers have turned into spoiled little brats.

Still contemplating... I find the game fun and I know when it is releasing but I'm on a budget and I think I'll like GW2 more. not sure which I want to get at this point, gonna see if I can get into a GW2 weekend before deciding.

Depends on your preference.

Diablo 3 you devote bits of your life at a tiome if you so desire while GW2 you usually have to devote a chunk at a time. They are different genres.

Diablo 3 will have a starter edition(free), i believe it limits you to level 20 and is a bit more extensive than the beta is. Also Diablo3 will never drop in price unless a retailer is purging stock.

GW2 as far as i know won't have a trial at launch and the price will eventually drop at the very least much sooner than D3.

I say wait for the D3 launch and play the starter version if you're getting antsy.

Diablo Battle Chest = $19.99

GW Trilogy = $29.99

Both prices are from Gamestop, figured I'd be fair considering most other places are selling the Diablo battle chest for $7-$10.

GW2's Dynamic events allow you to pop in and out at will so requires just bits of your life at a time is you desire.

I'd say wait on GW2 all around a better game and you get a hell of a lot more for the money. But by all means play the starter version of D3 since it's free.

D3 will drop in price in no time, reasons I say this? They are already trying their best to give away as many copies as they can to inflate the "Units Sold" number. They are already anticipating the low interests and making the first 20 levels free.

We know and they know that D3's chances at being a success are low hence the type of promotions they are doing.

Safe bet = GW2

I wouldn't be so sure about your predictions on Diablo's success, currently they're having server issues from so many people trying to play. Blizzard is known worldwide. Diablo 3 could probably do half as good as WoW and still be considered a great success.

Doesn't matter though, Blizzard games don't go down in flames(not that GW2 will) and are supported for years, so I think buying it would be a good choice. I don't think Blizzard is desperate for money, so I don't think D3 will drop in price very soon.

But GW2 is pretty much new territory, it's not certain how that will work out yet, and just how their cash shop will turn out. GW2 looks fun from the videos I've seen, but I think I'd rather play diablo3 right now, partly because it's a different game style, and I've been doing the MMO thing for about a decade now. I think it's time for some hackin', slashin', and loot whorin'.

I didn't know there was gonna be a starter edition.  I hope it releases with the game at launch, then I can at least level some characters and keep them if I want to buy it.

I know GW2 and Diablo3 are different genres, but those are the 2 games I'm interested in right now and can't buy them both, so I have to decide between em. I might just wait 'til GW2 drops in price, and go with Diablo 3.

Hmmm, not too interested in spacecraft combat. If it has ground based play, I'll be more interested. Never played Elite, but I played EvE, and don't really like it, mainly because of the ship only play.

Um, don't use translators too much, and can't seem to get google's or yahoo's translators to work... So is it gonna be a cube game like minecraft?

Would be interesting if he made a sci-fi sandbox MMO.

I seriously wonder what people are thinking when they complain the game is easy on it's easiest setting... It's not called easy but the difficulties only go up.. so ya, it's the "very easy" setting, if compared to some other games.

I bet these are the same people that will be crying for nerfs when they play the harder difficulties.

I love the art style personally. Having fun playing the Beta.. it does seem pretty easy but they also don't let you play the other modes in the beta which are probably a lot tougher.

Wasn't planning on buying but I might change my mind.
