Bethesda to Announce Elder Scrolls MMO in May
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/17/12 6:32:36 AM
Its obviously a long way off. Im down for letting them start to develop it and hear what they have to say about gameplay much more than I am about hearing Bioware's blah blah blah. I think they would be totally open to player comments of what they want and dont want and are capable of delivering a good game. Just give them a chance to get the announcemnt out 6 weeks from now, how can it hurt. Although I would rather see a Fallout MMO if they are going to invest the money on a MMO.
Not a fanboy(well maybe a tad) or anything but at least let them get the tip wet...

Wasted too many years with MMORPGS. [mod edit]
General Gaming « General Discussion 3/01/12 12:52:24 AM
While I agree the communtiy is bad in a lot of games, joining a good guild, clan, kin, or corp and just running dungeons, instances and PVP with them only makes things much more bearable. Also, turn off all world, trade, LFG channels and life is good again. Try it, it works... |

Originally posted by Charas In a way I can agree with ya, but what has the game done for the fantasy mmo rpg genre? Has it made it worse or better? What was the total player base say in '03 vs '11. While it has squashed some games that could have been it has also raised the bar for the games that will be. That is a good thing IMO... |

I am not a fan of the game anymore but it is a well polished game, with lots of content, lots of players, lots of patch upgrades and until now lots to do for a new player on budget that doesnt want to spend money on a dead game with no players or risk spending money on a new game that dies in 3 months. Is it a game for a player that has spent countless hours playing over 7 years? Not really but to some folks yes. Is it a solid fantasy MMORPG with very few bugs for a new player and until just now cheap to buy, YES. The whole $35 deal is pointless for players that have paid for the expansions one by one. It is aimed at the new younger or older players that have never had a go at it. It is for that that it is a good deal.
*The Imp that sits by my side cussing at me for spending a couple thousand hours in this game years ago, whispers me and says he is glad to see the King of MMORPGS show some humility and admit that the 800 pound gorilla is running from the pack of wolves chasing it down...*
That is something we have never seen before.

$35 buys you Classic-Cata right now.

I have a 15 year old son and was thinking of getting it for him for xmas. He would give anything to have his own account of WOW, regardless of all the hating. |

Its a lot of content for $35, love it or hate it that was my point. WoW is the only game a new player would have to drop 100 bucks to have it all. Blizzard has always been greedy in that regard.

Cant beat that includes 30 days game time. Add RAF for extra goodness.
Blizz knows Star Wars is gonna sting them a bit so why not try to grab some fresh players.

You have fanboys and haters for every game. Dont let them tell you what to play or not play. You are the one paying for the game and sub so if you did your homework and the game fits your playstyle buy it and play it. Simple as that.

MMORPGs in 2012 - anybody else overwhelmed?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/06/11 2:22:50 AM
Originally posted by Dynamic1325 I will prolly try out GW2, and D3 will def hold me throughout 2012 so not sweating it out here. Star Wars is a no go for me even if it was free to play its Bioware. If I start losing sleep I would head back to Eve.

Hanging out at the WSG portal all night fighting alliance(killing as many outside as inside WSG) back when BG's was server only and you could actually have a reputation. Getting High Warlord was a major achievment. 7+ hour AV's FTW no zerging. 5 capping alliance in AB and then reque right back up and get in since they had wait times and horde didnt. Crossroads and Tarren Mill PVP...Epic Horde only Shamans. No blood elves. The list can just go on and on, I am glad I had a chance to play it back then. :)
Definintaly good times.
Blizzard would make a killing if they opened some Classic only ruleset servers. |

Who wants Bethesda to make Forgotten Realms game

I would like to see them do Fallout the MMORPG once the lawsuit is over. (it may even be over I have not kept up with it) |

Just means you dont like a sandbox game. You want a game to hold your hand and tell you what to do. STAY far away from Fallout as well cuz you will hate it . Both are great games and once you beat them the mod commuity is outstanding and you replay it again and again with all the different mods that are available. |

(The Problem of Sandbox Design) THE LACK OF SERIOUS EPIC PVE! (PvP focused MMO are a Niche group!)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/08/11 2:51:39 AM
Originally posted by Grahor My point was, say it takes 30 days to get into a BS. If you play 100 hrs a week or 1 hr a week it still takes 30 days. If it takes 200 days to fit it with all top mods if you play 1hr a month or 400 hrs it still takes 200 days. It caters to both the casaul and hardcore player. Leveling is taken out of the equation and your free to do whatever else you want to.
Even if everybody 2-3 boxed in the game which is unlikely, I dont. It is still 5-10 times the pop of any other single server in any other mmo. |

Not really. Eve Online doesnt require time played to be decent. It also is a very sucessfull game with 20-50k players on at any givein time and has 2 xpacs year. Eve simply supplies the tools and the players make what they want of it. Now Eve is the exception to the norm in the last few years. Yes sandbox games need to be more creative. Its all about choices and freedom for players to do whatever it is they want. |

To me sandbox MMO's are more focused on player created content. For myself and others this is the part we enjoy. We dont log in and say ok what does the game want me to do next some quests, dungeons, dailys. I log in and see what the clan, guild is doing, maybe its harvesting mats, crafting, farming npcs, or PVP its all on the table, but epic loot isnt the daily goal. |

Everything owned and operated by Turbine is down. You can follow the updates here http://twitter.com/LOTRO I know its lotro but when its up your stuff will be up. |

Vanguard was tops for about 2 weeks.
Not saying the game is bad or anything, but you gotta let the dust settle down for a bit to get a more accurate rating... |

Its obvious that SE dedicated their resources to appeal to the FFXI crowd. Their goal was to either get them to pay for 2 accts or get them to covert to FFIV. Nothing new here if you like XI you play XIV or stick with XI plain and simple. If you was looking for anything more search somewhere else. They never had any intentions of appealing to anyone else. They are in no way trying to get players from any other game. If you play XI you play XIV. This is a brave move and you have to commend them for sticking to their roots, which no other MMORPG company will do. |
