<QR> Per a PM from Lighthouse, it was "part of the deal" to leave the Cryptic logo. Also, NCSoft did not buy the engine technology(just the IP) but are licensing it so they may continue development of CoX with the NC^2 team. Nothing about honoring, hidden goodies or fun and interesting things for a player to find just "part of deal". Simply a business deal. In case anyone cares. |

Even though it's not a choice....Tabula Rasa(I'm playing the beta now and loving it). |

Marvel+Cryptic+Microsoft Vs. DC Comics+Sony+Warner Bros.

Like I said Zylus, I will let the reviews speak for themselves. It does not matter at this point. Everyone has something against every company. Just reading this forum and official CoX forums, there is no love for Blizzard. You could spend your time on more useful pursuits instead of making horrible analogies.

Who cares. When the games are released(Marvel or DC) the reviews will speak for themselves. I'm not about to judge or spread hate on a game due to past releases or the company's history.

Oh I have so strong faith in Richard Gariott

Oh, I know he is on TR full time. I just remember when he left CoV, it was kept to one post and they did not want to speak about it again. I wonder if this is why he left or as some have speculated it was about creative differences. Personally, I don't think his leaving helped CoV but then again after watching the videos for TR, I don't care anymore. It's nice to feel excited about an upcoming MMO again. This past year was weak for releases.

I did a little research and Richard Garriot did in fact work on CoV. He has been with CoX at least since 2004 as Executive Producer and Executive Management. I also found a video on Gamespot where he talked about the design of CoV.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he the one that helped design CoV? If so, yes. I wish he would have stayed but I'm thinking he left because he couldn't design the gameplay of that game due to having to keep it in line with CoH. I think the game suffered because he left but having him on this one since day one(correct me if i'm wrong on this one too) gives me more hope. From what I've seen and heard, this is shaping up to be a solid MMO.

World of Warcraft: Editorial: Customization
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/01/06 10:04:33 PM
Yep, as much as I like WoW, I find the quest for gear a little overwhelming and am more than a little turned off by it. At first it was really fun but then I realized how very rare I would get the drop I wanted and the time invested didn't feel very rewarding. My friend on the other hand, will not rest until he completes his set of raid gear. I would consider neither of us casual players either. |

How about you both go outside, read a book, something, anything.....just get away from the computer! Yeeesh!
Talk about a useless thread... |

I'm still awaiting the day to see more interaction with the environment but I'm begginning to think it is too much to ask for the current generation of hardware/software and maybe even the one after that. I was really hoping Ageia would do more than it has in CoX but from reading what it has done for other games too, it's future does not look so bright. But it sure is nice to see a developer take a chance on new technology in hopes of enhancing gameplay.

City of Heroes: Issue 8: Veteran Rewards Preview
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/30/06 9:22:41 AM
Faultline - meh. must be because the after 30 grind gets to everyone so they keep putting off level 50 content Police Band - nice short missions and good way to earn Prestige quicker for your SG Safeguard missions - they are ok Costume additions - more fluff and making the character generation and changing costumer more important than it needs to be. doesn't add to gameplay imo. Vet Rewards - tried them and unimpressed I would rate this Issue only slightly more exciting than Issue 4. Some people will spin it as a 45 more levels of content because of the Police Band missions and a new zone but when it comes down to having played this game for a few months you will not really notice any change to the gameplay. Going from contact to contact for missions there is just not anything different/nothing you could not do before. |

Interesting. Makes me wish I could have tried the original version. Wondering if it was a jumbled mess or just a type of gameplay that people or technology may not be ready for yet.

Wow, was this pushed back? It seems like the two games I was interested in(G&H is the other) were scheduled for the end of this year and then boom, now next year.

I don't understand why they just can't say $15 a month. Are there other P2P that cost differently? And considering the current landscape, would they want to chase off potential subscribers by making it higher? I don't mind $15 because I am used to that price but I would have to take a hard second look if it was more.
