you're paying $35 for the game and $15 for the first month....

I was just in this past weekend stress test... It's worth the D/L time to test this game; one of the best testing experiences I've been in.

And what games do they have now that are total garbage? Have you even played AoC? AO? And was it before or after they fixed the launch issues? Both are solid games the had rough starts. No one remember the rough starts Ultima Online and Everquest had, or the hiccups that even WoE had.

Plus you're not taking into account it's a completely different dev team than either of those games. Funcom self-publishes, but they don't have everyone working on every game.

I have made myself look 'silly' in the eyes of many people over the past few years prior to the release of several MMOs.

PotBS?  Champions Online?  WAR?  STO?  just to name a few.

In the case of TSW I am seeing not much substance.  It started well.

Edit:  The Kingsmouth teaser!  Yes - that showed promise.

 

But then there were all the teaser trailers that don't show a lot - but probably instanced boss fights.

This teaser shows that maybe they have a good reseach department who have dug up a lot of old myths, superstitions, bogeymen.  Great.  But can they turn that into a game?  More importantly can they turn that into a game that has more substance to it than just 'select weapon, load up, move out, boss fight!'?

I would like to say 'yes' but I am a realist.  You can hang all your hopes on one guy (Ragnar Tornquist) if you like - but what I am seeing does not suggest any devine intervention here.

 

Bad choice in BETAs. Sorry they left a terrible, chalky taste in your oral oriface. Perhaps take a stroll to the TSW forums. Even if you never play the game, the community behind it is in and of itself a game, and a blast to commune with. Yup.

WAR and AOC managed to lie and cheat millions of ppl out of a real game.... APB didn't .... and lost right out of the track....

 

Uhm, no, APB did what you accuse the other two of doing, except much worse. I've gotten every penny's worth out of my subscription to AOC.

Instead of being what you accuse Mac users of being , you know, fanboys, you should just congratulate  them on finally waiting out the drought and getting more entertainment software.

It shouldn't matter what platform a person has, it's their CHOICE to go with whatever system they have, whether is be an open hardware system like Windows, or a closed system like Apple's. Telling someone their opinion and choice is stupid or lame just makes you seem like an oppressive dictator who thinks opinions not like their own are null and void.

As I run both platforms, I now game on both. No difference so far, except for what's available at the moment. But that's improving. 

Get over this PC vs Mac attitude and just play the games, no matter what platform you have.

OFC someone has to make a jab instead of noticing that gaming is starting to have more of a presence on Apple hardware.

Don't understand the animosity. We don't feel a need to have to have the bleeding edge of hardware, nor the need to upgrade [parts of] our computers every 3-6 months. I have Apple and custom build systems, for different things. Only thing I still have a PC for is games.

This game has the potential to kick some serious butt.

If people can get over the Funcom part of things, I think the game will do very well.

Is there a way to see a list of the keys I have received from MMORPG? I am trying to compile a list, and my emails only go back so far. FilePlanet has a list I can access via my account screen, and I was sure that MMORPG has(had) the same thing.

Hey are you talking about a Mac as well (subliminally)? hahahahahha
I mean a mac is becoming a PC, but with the monopolistic attitude of a Mac, and its underling nature to attack the PC becuase its inferior.. Macs are now the same hardware at 4 times the cost, run 5% of the software, and you have few choices on the hardware you wish to use.. Whats the point when it all ads up to 5x the cost?

5x the cost? don't know where you've done your research. And 5% of the software? another magical number that's incorrect. And people who own a Mac don't think PCs are inferior, we just know our operating system is easier to use. Plus I value the rock solid support i get from Apple, and it's nice to only have to deal with one company. Build your own PC, and if you have an issue, you can have 5 or more different companies to contact to resolve the issue, especially if you don't know what the issue is.

I run OS X and XP on my MacBook Pro, and do so with no issues. I can run every game out there, and no, I didn't spend 5x the cost. It's not about Mac vs PC, it's about preference of the user and quality of the equipment.

I'm sure their No Elves video had something to do with it as well.

For one, it's Disney. Family-friendly is their middle name. Of course they do not want any form of "bad language" used in their game.

Secondly, it's their game. I'm sure if you read the EULA, you'd see provisions for language use, and what not to use. They pretty much have every right to tell you what you can and can not do in their game. If you don't like it, don't play.

A language filter is a nice feature, but not one they have to add. Especialy if they want to discourage bad language all together.

One thing to keep in mind is, POTC is one  of Disney's few franchises that is of a more mature level. They will be cautious in the who's and what's of their game. If Disney had been doing PG-13 / T movies and games all along, I'm sure we'd have a Conan like POTC... Well maybe not, but that would be cool.

Either a World of Darkness of MMO or an Exaulted MMO would rock my socks!
