well it's not going to be just instanced zones, it's an entire instanced adventure. You won't be JUST in a dungeon. so far they have mentioned plenty of info on their website. There will be a wide variety of scenery and such in each adventure. Plus it will have a bunch of puzzles and such. Which is something i think many MMOs lately have missed. Even Turbine's own AC2, unlike it's predisessor AC1. But the cool aspect i've read so far from the E3 demo is that you will have various options to complete each adventure. As in the case of the cleric in the room of skeletons, he could take on each of them individually but there is a much easier option, simply by casting a dispell on the alter nearby it distroyed all the skeletons in one blow. And the XP isn't distributed per kill as in most other mmorpgs.. it's, dare i say more PnP like where you only gain XP after the completion of the adventure. And so far from what i've read they will be scalable in diffeculty based on the amount of people in the group, up to a max of 6 people thus far. But to each is their own, and for this aged pnp player, i plan to put this game through it's paces. And as for trade skills.. show me the page it discribes tradeskills in the DM guide or the Player's Handbook? that's right there isn't any.. tradeskills is a age old time sink passed down since EQ 1 was made. The actually crafting of special magic weapons has always been done by NPCs that are played by DMs. So.. as far as being true to D&D, i think turbine is doing a very good job. Plus the fact that Wizards of the coast is overseeing the developement personally this should be a good product. |

yeah no kidding lol.. that is one thing that was nawing at the back of my mind. But then again i've come to realize this isn't any sort of "realistic" Star Wars game. As it's just giant Theme park rather than some sort of real experience. There are way to many Jedi running around. I can see a fair amount being force sensative but being full Jedi means they have to be trained by a Jedi. Yet you are trained by a bunch of strange village people. This game isn't to be taken serious that's for sure. |

Nevertheless, I didn't really like the CU myself. You have 6 or 7 attack types on your list that you can do per fight, yet when you press 1 of those 7 all of them get put on a recycle timer. I'm just thinking it should be set so that each attack has it's own attack timer for recycle effect. I mean this whole CU seems like it's a try at coping the attack style in City of Heroes. because that's how it's combat is done. Except the big difference is each attack has it's own recharge timer. and that is a fun and good system to me. but also in city of heroes we can take on 3 or 4 even or slightly higher mobs at a given fight. Which is not the case in SWG's CU. were we should be able to. because any given mission you will have to fight 3 to 6, depending on how close the mission is to another critter mound. you end up having to fight a lot more than usual. Thus if you happen to be doing it solo you will die very easly. So in conclusion if i have to wait around for whatever amount of time to get a group to go do some boring missions that mearly require you to distroy the lair each and every mission.. that just sounds to much like a lame and very boring situation. and it is... Oh well, that's just my opinion and of course i'm no longer a subscriber as well. |

When the great library burnt down we lost the most of any historical information. The laws that bind the church are what most logical thinking people call "common sense". the church is still biased in what it wishes to record as history. They also Thou shalt not steal as well. But of course no matter how minor or major everyone has had to steal something in their lifetime. And when the time came for you to do it, you justify it to be good in your own perspective. Depending on the cause. Good is in the eye of the beholder. |

I'm not good with naming names, but i will try to purpose some historical events and you can place the religion with the event. Salem witch trials? Spanish Inquisition? Various mass suicides? Iran and Iraq wars? There was a time shortly after King James made Christianity their main religion not sure what it is called. But if you didn't conform you were either killed or ostracized. The miens sacrificing for what? Sacrificing was the age old way of many religions and even in todays society there are a couple different religions that still do sacrifices. either it being human or animal. The ones that sacrifice other humans of course which are generalized as satanism, but not all of them have vowed Satan to be their reason. So many things that have transpired in time that makes religions in general to be considered Evil in one way or another. But that is of course only a perspective. There are even my own experiences with the various forms of christianity and various other religions within the great old US of A. In various small towns especially through the bible belt how people are ostracized because they don't believe the way the local folk believe. |

Which religion is this? Any religion that makes strict Good and Evil dictations on people. All of them have been in history books and in the news. They are the ones that make the "noise" when it comes to voicing their opinions. All the ones you see in mainstream media are generally the ones i speak of. But of course it is what has transpired in the past. Things are much different now and people are not outright killed over small things. But now we wage wars because of religious differences. But people are still chastised or ostracized because they are not willing to conform. But of course most of this is done by zealots of their perspective religions. But the stem of all zealots is the religion itself. |

Exactly, when people have a Religion that guides their daily lives or things they do, they see things from a perspective of what the Religion tells them. as in good vs. evil. Religion has played a role in many people being murdered, hang, drowned and even mass suicides based on a Religion. All that to me personally is evil, you could even say i have my own religion, and that is that all things are governed by space itself. And i also believe in helping people out when they need it most, as in helping the old lady across the street or doing what is necessary to help someone in a dire need, that to me would be a good thing. But i always remain scheptical because there are always conartists about. Or helping someone out that was being harrased by a group of people that were trying to force their ideals on them, but in some circles this would make me to be considered evil. I try to see things for the truth based on logic and facts. Thus most mainstream religions are based off of mostly myth. And losely based on facts. Their ideals of good are somewhat twisted in nature or even considered hypocritical. |

i've seen it to where some people would mix whitemage/fighter which makes them a bit tougher as a whitemage but also makes them gain more agro in the process. to each is their own i guess. The really down side to FFXI is that once you cancel your account they don't normally allow you to restart that same account later on. They are currently doing a special deal to allow old players to reaquire their old accounts. but that is only until July 13th. Normally you would have to rebuy everything and start all over. Plus the fact you can't solo after level 15 much at all. The need to group after that point is more-so than any other game i have ever played. Thus you will need to either know or learn a bit of japanese to function well. if not then getting a group will be a real pain at times. I knew some friends that knew japanese well and if they were on i got a group no problem, but by myself i knew very little japanese and it was a hit and miss. I have spent 2 or 3 hours waiting on a group at times. which of course after awhile that got to my nerves and made me quit. |

Well, first off, Turbine has always had full control of the development of AC. the only thing MS did was provide the place to host the game. Once Turbine got the money to do so, they bought all rights so that it can now be solely kept by Turbine. As in they both develope and host the game now. As for the templates and such, I played AC from March of 2000 until June of 2004. And i recently went back to play from February until April of this year to check out what has changed. There are a lot more than just 4 templates running around. There isn't a major design that outweighs the other as far as PvE goes much anymore. Of course there are some peoples favorites and such. I for one have always enjoyed the UA/Life/melee specialized type. But what is certain is that Item and Life magic are a mainstay for anyone wishing to solo. But they have small quests in place to untrain, specialize after character creation. The only weapon style i've seen treated with little attention has been the spear. And of course after the debacle with the bandit dagger stuff, the dagger is in a period of not-so-great. But other than that anything is probable. Everything has been revamped in both quests, quested loot and the loot gen. There are still many bots around, but it is a thing to make the game less tedious. With so much that has transpired over the past few years it has become so dependant on characters always being buffed to the max in order to function well at high levels. Thus there is no limit on the lower levels using the same buffs. And it makes low level stuff really easy. But all of the high level content has become quite fun. The concept of hollow tusker will make you squirm, which of course makes high level buffs other than regen buffs useless. The high AL armor is a must have at that point. It is the reason for such high AL. and most armors that are questable ie. the Olthoi armor base al of 500+ and the new Noble armor AL 440+ are some of the best questable sets in the game. Plus taking the enormous amounts of time to tinker your own personal set of nice armor is a must. Plus the Burun quests are really nice and fun to do, the dungeons involved remind me of the old days in many ways. Many puzzled levels that require multiple people involved to accomplish. these quests are for the level 75 to 126. This game has so much content in it, it's unreal. if you are ever curious about what is currently going on with AC, always check http://ac.warcry.com/ that is the most indepth site around for AC. just by looking around at the quests section you will see some nice new stuff, all of the level 60+ quests are the main ones to look at. Plus this isn't the most updated stuff though. Keep in mind that some quests are still not listed that are in-game. Not to mention the tons of quests that are not level restricted but do need to be high level to finish and use the reward. |

hm.. don't know why i'm posting this on a gaming site, but... I for one have seen and read many subjects on ghosts and apparitions. and scientifically it would seem as though there is a very high build up of Ions when ghosts are nearby. Thereby making it some what viable. considering ghosts seem to be made up of pure Ions. Simply this is an image of ourselves we leave behind. And certain gifted people are able to tap into this interact with this image. I'm not talking about your average so called psychic, if you do enough study you can tell some differences. But in my own opinion Ghosts are simply people who have not excepted their death and have a urgent feeling to stay around until what ever it was they deemed necessary to do is complete. But what it would seem to me is that we lose our ability to "think" and store information once we die. without the brain for a tapable info storage you are simply a walking chunk of energy. So their ghost form would just simply reside here until it just simply gives up and leaves. It's more of a self motivated or driven objective that only has actions without thought. But as for the religious aspect, if you consider the aspects above, as in our own soul being made up of Ions. You have to remember, everything around you is made up of matter, this of which was born of the substances in space. We are all made up of particles and matter that evolves space itself. I believe that we could be an experiment by some alien life form. And they have left behind information and have caused the evolution of man. And the one aspect that could be true. is that when we die we go back to the source. The center of the universe or galaxy. Not sure which.. but both seem pretty awful bright and full of pure energy. We always gravitate to the point of least resistance. It would only make sense to go back to were we all originated. but of course this has been my own personal theory in progress that once i pass on i will know the truth. just as everyone else. it's one of those aspects we all must understand that we may never know the "truth" until the time comes. People wish to use religion as a crutch to that aspect and that is their choice. I don't believe in the fact that there is one overriding factor of the entire universe or multiverse (god). that is a theory that came about back when kings and queens ruled the kingdom. the theory of an overall "god" has been around for the longest time because a "Monarchy" has ruled much of the world in it's respected kingdoms for probably 15000 or more years. The idea of one rules all is engrained so deep that it's not even funny. if people come into a collective there is always someone has to be the overall "controlling" factor. it's a given. And i guess most believe that the whole space continuum has to be done the same way. yet i find the whole aspect of space much more radical in nature. We have no control over what space does. Just like we have no control over volcanoes erupting or earthquakes. It's the nature of evolution... you have no control over it. we all just continue to adapt as humans. it's in our nature to do so. And there is many other species i'm sure out in space. that do the same thing. that's what makes us intelligent life forms. Yet when we die, we return to what is our essence. That would be a pure energy source of Ions possibly and we would most likely want to return to the source of this energy. which probably is the center of the universe or galaxy. There is no telling. But i'm sure before the human race is completely eradicated, we will find out the truth. |

the cpus in a console are like apples and oranges compared to a PC. But of course if you were to manufacture your own motherboard to handle said processors.. then you could do it. And it's not 3 processors the Xbox has... it's 2 with 3 processing cores. just like the Power-PC from mac that has 2 cpus. but each CPU has 3 cores, so it's like having 6 processors in one computer. Plus i think the retail price of the Xbox is going to be around $500. just like the PS3. That is their initial offerings. But for the cheaper version it will probably be on a 52nm process vise the original 90nm process. which will allow for the $300 model. |

yeah i was editing my post i had ran across some info on better specs of the PS3.. And that is all true it will all boil down to the game companies making the games in the end. They will want to port their games over to as many systems as possible. to reach the most people for most sales. it's a given... But i'm also a Nvidia fan in the PC domain.. so i'd definately go for the PS3 because they realized and went with Nvidia for their gpu :) But of course the Xbox sports a full out Media Suite built off their Media PC edition. As well as the Xbox Live for online play. And what i've seen for the PS2, it wouldn't suprise me to see a Linux variant for the PS3 for a media suite. But overall it's pretty crazy, especially how the PC community is watching this fairly closely i think, because some of that technology could be ported over to the PC. All i know is we are going through a major technology jump. and in the next 2 years we are going to see some seriously realistic games come out. I didn't think i'd ever want things to get "too" realistic.. lol but it seems to be moving in that direction. |

(PC Fanboi) how do you figure? the Xbox has 512 megs of ram and it has 2 different 3 core cpus running at 3.2 GHZ and is running an isolated water cooled system. As with the PS3 being 1 CPU and 8 APUs cell processors, running at 3.2 ~ 4 Ghz. but the Xbox stats are out for anyone to see in many places. The cool thing about the Xbox's graphics setup is it's running a ATI 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically-scheduled shader pipelines. To just give you a hint, the best for the PC graphics card only uses 16-pixel pipelines and 6-vertex pipelines. But the funniest factor is that Sony has contacted and had Nvidia exects helping with the developement of the PS3 GPU. Which has it's own multi parallel dynamic pipelines. The Xbox will stand on it's own i'm sure. Most of the stuff you are seeing in those videos are only Cinematics. Not real in-game video. if it was.. where is the GUI? how does he know when he's out of bullets? Plus as for the release date, Xbox plans for a Christmas release .. and the PS3 is slated for a Spring release, which puts it only 6 months later. Personally either will be great to have i guess. But ATI is taking that same technology and working on it's next major Graphics card for the PC. So, this time next year will be one hell of a ride :) |

i would highly dought that you have grounds for sueing LA or SOE, because they have many things in the game that represent Starwars. Plus there is no Hard governed guideline that they have to follow when making games. if that were the case, then many games in the past would fall under the same evelope of possibility. But as for the BBB reporting i'd definately do that. they do practice poor community relations and seem to not adhere to the community much. But just like in all buisnesses, if it isn't truly a worthwhile thing they will receive their just reward when not many people have accounts to the game. but if plenty of others like it.. that's their porrogative. and if the game continues on, so be it. but you can try to sue them all you want, but i'm willing to bet you will lose the case. |

well, SWG hasn't been level based... there has been a hidden diffaculty level modifier that you are able to observe through the mission consoles some-what. because certain missions consoles only give out missions up to a certain diffeculty. But everyone has discribed is the level based or biased system that is prevelent in many Level strict games such as EQ and EQ2. where the damage restricted by your level. not by in part on your weapon that you use or the amount of skills you may have. It's sad in many ways, because when this game was in beta the devs at the time said they never wanted a player to ever be able to one-hit another player. but in effect with the level biased system.. it's bound to happen. But the worst part is that now everyone will need to be double elite specialized or fighting in the GCW will be a pain if you are someone who likes to mix it up more. because of how they have the current Level gauging method. ie. someone that is master TKA and master Pikeman is considered a combat level 80. But someone that has mastered say Pikeman and has some TKA and some of other combat related skills will equate to a much lower number.. depending on how high you go in the other skills. mostly you will be between 65 to 70th combat level. which if you add in the system of level damage modifier the level 80 will outdamage the more mixed level 65 or 70. basically because of level difference. Not because of some actual skill value. Which is why most people are against the whole idea of level based. So in other words you take a game that was unique and allowed players to be unique and still function within the GCW and PvP side. But make it level based and now you have thrown all that uniqueness aside. and people will have to be more cookie cutter from now on with their "templates" than never before. in order to be competeable. But i'm just sayin'.. i can careless what they do with the game now.. i've done quit.. Hope the rest of you enjoy the change lol.. |
