Frankly, I always thought the "Yeah they have 11 million subs, but half of those are Gold Farmers!" jokes were just those: jokes. Any proof that at least half of WoW's subs come from China?

Try google searching it's just about on every site..Thats proof enough for anyone..Whats very funny about it is another MMO didn't bring WOW to their knees, it was Blizzard who brought themselves to their knees..That is some very funny stuff..Here is just 1 of many sites

http://tobolds.blogspot.com/2009/07/wow-subscriptions-down-to-5-million.html

A quote from my very good friend Jon Bon Jovi

"Shot down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth
`Cause I`m going down in a blaze of glory" hahahahahahhahahahahahhaaha

Synthetick sorry gonna have to disagree with you on something.

"You closed your reply out by saying that they haven't been changing the right things, adding new regions and classes. Have you managed to read the patch notes from the last few months? They've been doing everything they can to optimize the game, add new content (which is a major draw for new and returning players, especially when the main drawback from WAR was their lack of end-game, not shiny armors)."

I have read the patch notes and I follow WARs progress even though I cancelled a few weeks ago..

I strongly disagree that end game is the main drawback here . The real problem here is that  the server population balance is horrible. Adding new content will not fix that issue. People have quit because they are tired of being outnumbered 3-1, getting overran by 4 order or 4 destro warbands every time they try to flip a Keep or BO.

Most people will tell you that T1 - T3 is ghost for orvr, they will tell you that scenario pops are few and far between. Sucks when you have to lvl by doing pve quests and here you sit at lvl 40 with a renown rank of 25 going up against people that are lvl 40 and renown rank of 50 or 60+. Stuck on a server because Mythic won't allow transfers. Yes people can reroll on another server, that doesn't fix the problem and it sucks to invest time in a character to have to resort to rerolling.

How can you have a game focused on massive scale PvP when you don't have the player base to support it? You wanna show your subs that you care, then fix the exisiting issue 1st!!  Why not fix the existing issues before adding new content? Adding new content doesn't fix anything, to me it's a way of covering up problems in hopes that people will forget . 3 or 4 months ago when I logged in a good majority of the servers were high/high if not med/med, now they are mostly low/low..

Awesome thanks :) I'll look into those servers.

He was thinking of being a choppa and I was going to be a shaman or squig herder. Probably the shaman just so we have heals.

Would you say there are new players still coming to the game, or while we start fresh are we going to be traveling through ghost lands?

Sorry if I go a bit off the subject here!!!

I stopped playing a few weeks ago. Not that the game itself is horrible. T1-T3 were ghost for orvr and scenarios were few and far between. Maybe not on DC because its a pvp server.  Im sure people will argue that it isn't true, don't just take my word for it. You should form your own opinion!!

The real problem with this game has more to do with population balance and class balance. To many servers to start off with and don't expect to see any high/high servers, don't expect to see any med/med. Maybe med/low, mainly low/low. My opinion is that Mythic is blowing it with a game that has so much potential. I honestly don't understand why they don't fix the existing issues before adding new content that will more than likely add to the unfixed problems. (server pops are unbalanced, classes are unbalanced, CSRs take forever to respond and end up telling you they can't help you) Mythic thinks they can make you forget about those things by adding new content.

This game is suppose to be a pvp focused game, but it doesn't have the population it needs to have to support that type of focus and many people are finding themselves having to level by doing pve quests and meanwhile they are falling too far behind in renown rank. Example level 40 with a renown rank of maybe 25 - 30 and they have no chance against someone who is level 40 with a renown rank of 50+.

Again sorry if I went off track in my response.

To answer your question though, people come and people go, whatever that means to you!!!

It may seem dull and boring, but if you spend some time reading the mechanics behind it all you will realize that eventually the simple you describe will need to be re-looked at if there is such a word..I looked at the chains tab and realized that I was doing it all wrong with my setup. 1 ability needs to be followed or started by another specific ability to have a successful chain of events during a fight. I give it 4/5 it may change remember the key word here is "beta"

Wait, you needed to look at the chains tab just to figure out chains? No wonder you're giving combat a 4/5. I was insulted by the mindless simplicity of the chains.

Well you get a golf clap because your just smarter than the rest of us!!! I guess everyone is expected to know everything you know! no need to read anymore because its all mindless simplicity..If your gonna reply to a post come with something better than that!!

Didn't you already predict several times on these forums that wow was experiencing rapid decline and would be closed by now?   So if you were obviously wrong about its decline then you must have special insight as to why it is popular and how people are playing, because your opinions have such a great track record of accuracy in the past.  *fart*

Keep hammering away at the keyboard friend.  It is always good for a chuckle.

The thing to me is I don't know why people spend so much time on this for MMO's.  There are obviously around the industry some "inflated" numbers...  Yet if you aren't a share holder why would you care?  (and if you think they are lying, buy the least amount of stock you can and file a complaint with the SEC instead of posting on a forum about).  That's not directed at the person I quoted (should be obvious) its about "motivation" for trolling or the word anyone else chooses to apply.

At the end of the day Blizzard of Vivendi or now Activision/Blizzard have reported record profits every time financials were released.  The 2009 report actually came out AHEAD of expected earnings.  How many companies came out ahead of expected earnings in that same time period?

Which to me is the problem...   they can fairly well back up their claims based on earnings...

Yet on this site for years there have been constant threads about how Blizzard is lying... or counting inactive/promo accounts... I've yet to see an explination into the record profits... from those same NON paying accounts.

At least wait until their earnings slip or come in under "forecast" then make the doom post about how their losing their player base. (this would sound logical whether it would be accurate or not... as opposed to the current trend.)

After reading through all the yadda yadda yadda I think you wanted to quote me. No need to hide that you love to chat online and pay monthly to do so. There are the fighters and there are the pacifists and I think I know which 1 im dealing with.

Anyhow it isn't a difficult thing to show and tell people what you want them to know and see..Look at Bernie Madeoff he did it for years, made billions from fabricating numbers, many banks, and many car dealerships as well meanwhile people bought into the company because they received that warm and fuzzy picture that they all wanted people to see.

There are close to 500 North American/European servers alone.  Pick anyone of them and log in to see if people are playing on them just in case you think they are not real.

Think about how servers other games with 300k players have.

Squabble about press release numbers all you want, just look at the servers that are filled with people playing.  You can't make that up.

LoL People playing huh? More like people standing around and chatting for endless hours. WOW went from Hardcore/Casual (WOW)<---everyone loved it, to Casual (Burning Crusade)<---rinse and repeat, to Online Blogging (Wrath of the Lion King)<---hanging it out to dry and now it is nothing more than a Virtual Facebook, Twitter, MySpace world..

Speaking for the entire world again aren't you woody?

lol You keep telling yourself how wonderful and fantastic WOW is. You do know that there are free chat services that you don't have to pay a monthly fee for! right? of course you do.

Intresting find here: Did you know that China is believed to have more Warcraft players than any other nation, at almost six million registered accounts and as many as 660,000 playing simultaneously..So pat yourself on the back for putting some food on the tables of all those farmers er...I mean entreprenuers.. If you wanna believe that 11.5 million people are actively doing quests, pvping, raiding then I have some cheap cheap land to sell you.

Hmmm Im not gonna Fanbois this, wait yes I am. Just gonna touch on some of your comments.

Overall:  Mediocre.

Yes, I know, before you fanbois jump into post how what I've said is blasphemy at least 'try' to listen to the points.

1.  Graphics 3/5 - Aion is a great looking game, don't get me wrong.  However, I don't think it's as revolutionary as I had thought it was going to be, despite running the game on max resolution, full graphics, and trying all three different types of bloom I couldn't seem to find that greatness that I saw in the Aion videos.  I'm not sure what the issue is, but hopefully, it's because it was beta?  Maybe all the shaders and textures aren't in yet, if that's the case well then I can't wait until I can see the final product. Could be time to upgrade the ole graphics card. can't keeping using that voodoo 3dfx with these newer games. Before you run and give me specs on your vid card. My graphics xperience was totally different. I found them to be pretty sweet compared to the gummy bear look of WOW. I give it 4/5

2.  Gameplay 3/5 - Aion plays like almost every other MMO that I've played, you click on enemy...  You run towards enemy, you start to hit enemy, you press hot-keys to use fancy looking skills that deal more damage to add the finishing touches.  It's simple, it looks fairly pretty, but it's nothing ground breaking.  Flight combat is great, but the fact that you're flying doesn't truly change up the combat a whole lot.  It's still that "generic" concept of using all your hot-keys, and following through with combinations.

3.  Character Customization 4/5 - Character customization in graphical options alone give it a 4/5, however, when it comes to being able to customzing your character through other options other then gear, it's some what lacking.  I'd like to see something like talent trees, or even stat distriubition for our characters.  Until then, we'll have to deal with only upgrading our characters through gear, and the orb things. Right off the bat I can tell your a WOW fanbois because you use the words "Talent Tree" so when compared to WOW char customization I give it a 10/5 "sarcasm" /off

4.  PvP ?/? - I can't comment on PvP, beta didn't allow the testing of PvP.  I did duel a few times, it was fun?  I can't say it was better then any other game I've ever dueled on however.

Over all the game is decent, other then flight combat, and a few minor graphic enhancments over other games, I'm not sure that I could give many reasons as to why somebody should play Aion over WoW, that is...  Unless you've played for FOUR.  FREAKING.  YEARS. LOL I can give hundreds of reasons to play this over WOW, but I will only list a few.

1. WOW is rinse and repeat with its expansions. Grind to lvl cap and complain that your bored till next expansion.

2. Graphics: Where? Turbo Graphics 16 games have better graphics.

3. PvP: Zerg Zerg Zerg. No forget the objectives in Alterac Valley just Zerg to the Keep.

4. It's Nerf or nothing on them Raid Bosses..

yadda yadda yadda.

/Wrist -  I'm done.

I'll go over my impressions really fast. I'm not here to write a review, I'm not qualified to do that and I won't pretend to be, I'm just going to point out issues which bother me a lot and eventually disappointed me.

I didn't expect the game to be great, but it I didn't expect it to be bad either, I was wrong, it's really not a very impressive game.

positive:

*game runs very well

*interface is nice to use

*music is quite good

*graphics are ok, much less good than Aion trailers, but still not bad

negative

*Very standard MMO....... kills 10 of X, collect 4 of Y

*No goal or reason to be there......, you feel like you're dropped into a world where you don't belong

* text is mediocre at best.........., it's definitely translated by people not used to MMO, the language and terminology used isn't impressive

*Combat is very boring........... for the first 10 levels, you get very few abilities

*Game is a grind............, maybe I've played too many MMO, but <target mob> <kill mob> <target mob> <kill mob>..is what you'll be doing for about 4 hours non-stop to get to level 10

*NPC's did not speak to me (sound)................, maybe they will fix this, I don't know

*Players are mostly just soloing,........... no real incentive to group, maybe this will change in later levels, I don't know

*Places you start in are way too small,......... too many players all dumped into starting places, you feel like a person trapped in a box

*No real story..........., almost no lore, I felt lost? and it felt a bit pointless to be there

*There's something wrong with the game's horizontal vision,..... imagine looking through a camera and missing a good part of the side view of the world, that's what it's like when playing Aion, they restrict vision to the left and right

If I had to give it a score? Shrug, I guess 4/10. Anyway, I hope this helps, yes it's a very negative review, but that's how I felt about the game.

"I'll go over my impressions really fast. I'm not here to write a review, I'm not qualified to do that and I won't pretend to be, I'm just going to point out issues which bother me a lot and eventually disappointed me."  and the last line of your post goes like this.....

"If I had to give it a score? Shrug, I guess 4/10. Anyway, I hope this helps, yes it's a very negative review, but that's how I felt about the game.<------Sure looks and reads like a REVIEW to me..Are you sure your not here to write a review lol.

The game is still in beta jeeez give them time to work out the bugs...Write a pos/neg post after it's been launched..

I have mixed feelings about 1.2. These are soley my opinions and it doesn't mean im right or wrong.

The map changes was a very nice added touch. Adding a new scenario was a great ideal, but for some reason it reminds me of a refurbished Khaines Embrace. I was ok with the whole new change to the locking of zones when I read it in the patch notes. I now think it is a horrible concept because the servers are very unbalanced with Order or Destruction outnumbering the otherside 3 -1 depending on the server and now you don't have to break a sweat to lock zones and lock people out of IC or Altdorph.

Not much you can do to defend or attack when your on the side with the least players. I understand this player unbalance occured when they opened up the server transfers, but it seemed like it was one sided depending on the sever. On the server I play on in 1 day 7 guilds ( around 300 ) new players from the order side transfered onto the server and none for the destruction side. I found that to be strange.

I do not like nerfing of the classes that took place in 1.2. I think most of the classes were solid in their previous stages. Everytime dev's start nerfing classes it doesn't stop their and before you know it the whole game eventually goes downhill.

1.2 isn't 100% crap. There were some nice added changes to the maps, to the UI, and few other forgotten things.

I don't understand why there can't be a 2 week transfer service for all the servers with no level restriction. Im stuck on a server that I hate. Can I go to another and start all over again? sure I can, but it is tough to do when you have invested so much time on a character.

Keep in mind that this is just my opinion!!!!
