General: Dragon Age Sex Controversy Examined
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/10/09 10:22:06 PM
I will say it, and not really care what people think. But the game was great! Well done, well written, and well acted! As for the homosexuality, I never went down that road. I do not agree with that choice in life style but because its in a game doesn't mean you have to play it, didn't bother me any.
The fact that this writer tried to make people that disagree with this life style seem like a bunch of whack jobs is a bit off key, but honestly who cares. I don't agree with it, so the gay community can sue me. I loved the game, so the Christian community can sue me to :)

Final Fantasy XIV: A Talk With Robert Peeler
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/18/09 9:56:16 PM
Until I see that nasty group of words "turn based" out I won't even give the game a second look. Honestly the FF community needs to tell these developers to look past the 90s and into Real-Time or at least more action oriented combat systems. Of course I won't lie NWN had a semi-turned based system and it was still awesome, and in truth all push-button MMO's are at least somewhat turn-based. But still its a old system that needs to die, or at the very least not be labeled as 'turn-based.'

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Comic Con Interview
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/27/09 12:07:51 PM
I agree, at the very earliest we're looking at a late 2010 release. Either way though I agree, you can't really expect huge hunks of information when a game is so early in its development. This is why I am not very excited about this game yet, there really isn't any point in getting all hyped up when the launch is so far away...

I remember now why I never come here anymore...you guys simply don't look up the facts and read. Find me one thing that would delay the game from the testers quotes given this morning. There isn't one, every problem they listed can be fixed with a weeks worth of work, if not less. Anyone that has taken some programming should know that.

Find me a quote that says that...cause there isn't one. They have never given a launch date. So in answer to your question, no.

Well lets looks at facts, and not just opinions and someones few on logic. Given the amount of time left in the year it can be launched. They have stated things like this: "It's because there's no way we'll miss a release date and we're not going to just set a date as a goal, and either postpone or be forced to release something unfinished. We resolve to stick with our release date because we know how people tend to plan around this as far as organization, time and hardware goes when they're looking to make a commitment to an MMORPG, especially a competitive one like Darkfall." And they have stated Darkfall will launch this year. There is no reason to doubt it NOT launching this year.
Xzyax, unless you are a beta tester you have no real idea whats going on. From the quotes given today, I would assume the game is pretty much finished.

I can relate in some ways to what you’re saying. But let me bring you a little hope that might just get you more interested in the game. |

Age of Conan: Director Speaks on Fileplanet Open Beta
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/30/08 12:35:55 PM
Am I the only one that thought that was nothing but pure SPIN throughout that interview? The fact remains that you must pay someone to do someone else's work for them, that makes no sense at all to me as a beta tester. AoC has lost my business because of this, and I would go to say I'm certainly not the only one that feels this way. In fact I would go as far to say their player base has been cut in half because of this move...only one little word would have made a big difference.

Has anyone ever heard of the KOTF expansion mod? Kind'a reminds me of Darkfall
General Discussion « Darkfall 1/05/08 11:08:31 PM
Thats not really true...it would be 5 years if you counted 2008, that would be when aventurine took over the project and started anew. And if your not smart enough to at least do that much research then I would recommend not posting, lol. Really though it's like posting about how one person is so bad at what he does and never really meeting the man. Do research, don't just go by what forums tell you its never 100% true info.

Look many of us know that Darkfall has a huge chance of not being released. But it is not that fact that draws us all to this amazing game. What keeps people interested and keeps them coming to Darkfall is that it is the ONLY MMO coming out that is offering even close to everything we all want in a great MMO! AoC isn't offering all of what MMO gamers want, TCoS isn't offering it, PotBS surely isn't offering it, and to hell with Warhammer (unless your a big time PVP person which I know many of us are but its still not covering all the fields like Darkfall is). Darkfall is going to have that awesome PVP expreince all PVP'ers want. Darkfall is going to have a world larger than Oblivions so players will be able to PVE to their hearts content. Darkfall is going to have player made everything. Darkfall is the only one I've seen that you (meaning you the single player you are) can build your own major city. Darkfall is going to have shops that YOU own, and you can hire NPC's to run it for you while your offline or away on business else where. Darkfall is going to give people the chance to explore, create, design, distroy, make a living hell or perfect world all on their own. NO other MMO is promising so much. Again lets be real, their chance are really really really really bad at making this work. But hell yes I'm willing to give them a shot if it's worth all this! And you should be as well, otherwise your not a true gamer and just a random 12 year old spamming forums.

To be honest Darkfall has really only been in development for 4 years. If you remember it was scrapped by the first company that had it, and then this Greek company picked up and started all over. So this version of Darkfall we are all hyped up about today is brand new from the first idea/version. Amazing post btw! I'm really quite interested in testing all three, Darkfall has me more interested than the other two (AoC and TCoS). Mainly because it has most everything in it that I need to be a good MMO. Now note I do remain somewhat skeptical about the game, I've just come from the Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising forums, and beta tested the game for a year. Then drop! But Darkfall has a larger fallowing, and has a larger chance of making it due to the fact the Greek developers making Darkfall are all known to put out good games (before they started working for Aventurine). And every one knowns the Greeks are always slow and making software. But like I said I want to play all three, AoC doesn't seem to be as much as an interest to me but still I'll keep an eye out for it...just doesn't seem as easy as Darkfall. Darkfall's main idea is making a huge world, and give players the ability to do whatever. AoC seems more like, yeah you can do whatever you want (sorta) but not with out a huge guild, tons of hours of play time, and to much grinding. I'm a casual gamer, but I've been known to spend more than 4 hours playing a game, but that doesn't seem like it would be enough in AoC, where as in Darkfall you could go around bush whacking elite players off their mounts and ride off with them. This can be done the community admin emailed me back stating just this: ("mounts are easy to get, you can buy them (sometimes cheap pending on how the market is, mounts are player made you know?) or one of the better way's is to bush whack a veteran player and take his mount. Now you alone might have a harder time doing this, but you and some buddy's with low based skills should be able to knock him right off the steed with ease. But remember its first one that gets on the mount and rides off that get the reward. As for your friends that got left behind...well they will have to scram before the elite player gets back up from being knocked off or their going to be dead in a flash of an eye...they me be dead anyway you look at it sadly, lol.") -Ethnine--Phorsoth-

Forgive me for saying this, it is just my opinion. But if you really do have a rig like this then you honestly have more money than brains. I just bought a new rig: AMD 4600 X2, SLI 8500GTX 512mb each, 2gigs of DDR RAM, and a 210gig HD. All together this cost me around $850, and I would bet that my rig will be able to run almost every game out there for over 2 years (btw if your interested I can play Crysis on very high as well with no problems at all and I seem to get anywhere from 60-70 fps) Sorry but your rig is great, and a waist of money, you could have saved yourself about 2K and been fine for any games coming out in the next 2-3 years. Now you have a system that will be fine for gaming for 5-6 years but has a higher chance of having tech problems in that larger amount of time due to its age. Just unwise in my opinion, sorry but I tend to speak my mind way to often :)

How will these video cards play Conan, any clues please.
General Discussion « Age of Conan 10/12/07 12:28:36 PM
I hate to be a butt in all this. But I just got a new computer with two Nvida 8500GT 512MB cards in it. And if a system this large, can't run this game then I'm sad to say AoC will fail all the way! I'm not a huge fan of great looking games anyhow, I'm more of a "how well does it play" kind of gamer, as is a majority of gamers I would gather. So if AoC is going to be so system demanding, and only people with top of the line rigs can play it, then it will never make it in this MMO world. I know there are many WoW haters on these forums, but look at their game and you can see just what it is I'm talking about. WoW has made millions on top of millions of dollers just cause their game could run on a system you picked up at Wal-Mart! Thus they had a huge player base, that grew by the day, and still grows. AoC just isn't going to have this kind of chance, from the comments you guys are making a gamer with a128MB graphics card would be laughed at by this game. When in truth if they could get this game to run on a 128MB card the game would be opened, not only to the small amount with top rigs, but the majority that have mid/small rigs. This game looks great, but if this is how it going to be (all high end graphics, no true game) then count me out. Along with a few other million players that won't be able to play the game due to its high performance demands! -Phorsoth--Ethnine- |

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning: Pre Alpha Video

Ok I'm playing a galdiator now This is very cool, GnH is going to be an amazing game! I just can't wait for open beta which, by the sounds of things, is close by.

I very much agree. I'm not a huge fan of WAR or AoC, but I've been looking into others like Spellborn, and Aion. So far neither one of those has impressed me with their awesome PVE like GnH has...and the great content that the game is based on. The other games coming out later on this year/next year, are more of your fun to try games imo. Where GnH is one of those games I look at and think "I could be involved with that game for some time." It's shaping up, and I can't wait! -Phorsoth- |

Well I'll be honest here. I want the game to succeed. So I, of course, will state that no game is ever done at launch. Really though, some one name me a game that was fully done at launch and that made it to the major leagues of MMOs...there just isn't one...WoW had to patch in Sword-smithing, Armor-smithing, something other smithing...They also had to patch in tons of talents. Also they had to patch in flight points to locations. They also had to patch in combat arenas, and PVP maps. They also had to patch many items for crafting, things that just didn't work for the player crafting the items...did any one really like WoW's crafting at launch? Cause I sure didn't. Just now has it got some what interesting. And that is just WoW. I could name many other MMO's that had crafting/pvp/gear/talents/classes problems that they had to patch in, it just happens that way. I would rather them wait to make crafting something awesome, other than what WoW did...make something up quick, and hope it works. Then come to find out it doesn't, and never will. Then you have to patch in something new, and better to fix it. GnH PVP will be great...who doesn't want to fight in the arena with all their minions ready to take on some other player? And crafting will be awesome as well. Come on who wouldn't want to make a wep that comes for legends and myths?...things you read about in high school history classes. I understand that some people, must have it now! But for me, it can wait for them to do a good job...better than a half %$# job imo -Phorsoth- |

Theres a video up now on the community web site about this, check it out. Take note that he says their target low end goal is a X800 card. The first time I heard this I was like "What my 9600-pro wont run it! NOOO!" But come to find out that is at the level they say you should be able to have every thing on high-mid. My 9600-pro 128MB card, I am told, should be able to handle the game quite well on almost all mid, maybe some low, graphic settings.

I've been apart of GnH for almost a year now. Dude you have no idea! I can't really say any more than that, but really my friend if I were you I would go over to AoC or Warhammer. If you dislike the game so be it, I really don't give a damn what YOU think is best. I can just tell you this, if there is one game that is going to make it this year this one is it. And you don't need to be a gamer to know that, just look at how many people are already hyped about this game...can you say 100k easy?
I'm sorry to be a ass hole here, but I really hope you don't play this game. You kind of remind me of one of those oversexed teeny's in WoW, and I've had enough Barrnes chat to last me a life time, I don't need any more. So go to some other game, it's really not a big deal what you think...I sure don't care

BAHAHA Roma Victor! You have got to be kidding me dude. Come take note that I said "Good MMORPG." And I am sure we all canagree Roma Victor was as far away from being "good" as it gets. In my statement "good MMORPG" I mean games that have good graphics, nice game play, not FTP, lots of content, a good MMORPG...come on we all know what makes good games here, at least I hope we do.
Ok I'm going to be just plain honest with you all. If you don't like the game that is fine, so be it....it's nothing off me. Shit I really don't like the way AoC is looking, or Warhammer, and both of those games seem to be higher up on the pop scale than this one. Really it all come's down to whether or not you like the style of the game. Many players like the watered down MMO (like WoW, DAoC, D&D, LOTRO, GW,) these are easy, fun, they can be hard core, their almost all the same in the fast way to get XP, all the lore is the same (lots of boring nothing imo), and the scale of the game is about the same. GnH is not even close to this type of game, and that just scares people...and I can't really blame them for that, but I'm giving them a chance to blow my mind...and if they do, then BAM! I'm in on the best MMO of the year! Imo GnH is your more, RTS, interesting story(s), lots of history based lore, makes you think, you can grind or quest for XP, and has any one looked at the size of Rome? Just take a look at it, can you say "The largest city ever to be put into a MMO?" So yeah, if you don't like the game then your never going to. Just like I will never like AoC or Warhammer. The only thing I could tell you to do is give each game that is coming out this year a chance. Their all doing something a little bit different, some more than others, at least lets give them all a chance at being worth it. And here are 3 things we know for a fact: 2. GnH is doing something new, and it seems to be working. Come on, do you think they would be able to keep 400+ beta testers in the game if it wasn't any fun? And have 4k more beta invites begging to be sent out? What ever it is their doing, it seems to be working. 3. GnH is not your typical FF game. No elves, no orcs, no half anything people. Just really mad guys wanting to take over Rome, and some cool looking beats that want to kill you...oh a god that happens to be your daddy or momma So either like it or not, this game is going to make a wave...and so far it's shaping up to be a big one whether you like it or not

Was a good interview, takes my hype up another few clicks. As for the rezzing go to the community forums and you will find out that was a typo, or for some of you younger MMO player a "mt". So no worry's there will be tons of grouping...did you hear they have to many quests at the moment, so there will be lots of grouping, don't worry about that at all. Also as for the comments made about minions, I know many people are thinking "Guild Wars" at the thought of minions. But if there was ever an interview to prove that wrong it is this one. Come on who wouldn't want to treat at least one of their minions really badly just to see how PO'ed he would get, and see what he would do...would kinda be cool to see him go into a mad rage and start ripping your camp to bits :) Quite plainly this game is looking amazing. I know some people think that it is not doing all that well with a player base. Well look at it this way, there are 400 beta testers right now, and 400 beta keys being given to them to give to some one else. Also the next phase of beta is supposed to be in the 1k range. The community is well over 3k strong. It is 7.0 on MMORPG.com, and has been for the past 6-7 months, with out falling. Also BioWare is looking at PE's technologies. And we all love BioWare, and also all know how big/popular it is. My point is that the player base is huge for this game. All you have to do is go to the community web-site to see that for yourself. I'm looking forward to playing it, and can't wait to get into beta soon...
Oh! And I almost forgot to add this. To those that think this is another fantasy, hack and slash game, think again. I don't know how to say it, but some one try and name me another good MMORPG that has tons real history in it...any one? This is not your elf meets dwarf kills orc, kind of game. This your Hero kills Gaul’s, saves cities, makes friends, runs around Rome, kind of game. Yes there are myths to it, and odd creatures running around, and you are a child of a god. But come on has any other game even had a little bit of actual history in it? (And for any one that might want to know, there is talk about meeting up with famous people from that time in Roman history!) -Phorsoth- |
