I do believe it has about 20 subscribers....Not that the game is awful I just see it having a LOT of potential and it needs much more content for me to remain a subscriber.

Well first of all I have to determine what the mobs are like in this game.
In EQ1 mobs were really tough so you'd need a Tank / Healer In WoW mobs were really easy so best duo would be two DPS In EQ2 mobs were fairly difficult so a DPS scout and a DPS healer would be good What are the mobs like in vanguard? I realize the 2 dot mobs are intended for solo play am I right? However, will any duo combination even be able to take on 4 and 5 dot encounters? If not whats the point of even having your standard Tank / Healer duo? If they can't take on tough stuff you might as well just duo whatever classes you see fit. It's a hard decision here. I was thinking Dreadknight / Bloodmage (yawn) or Necromancer / Bloodmage (rawr!!!) can healers heal necros tank pets? or Pyscionist / Bloodmage (woot!) Just might be crazy enough to work. What do you think? |

I am a bit surprised by the rankings on this site. Ive played pretty much every major release mmorpg, and EQ2, (yes even in its current form) is the worst mmorpg i've played. It just doesn't feel anything like a world, and the graphics / art style is very inconsistant. What is this expansion going to add other then some gay race and more raid content?

Dang I wonder what went wrong...Another skill system based mmorpg doomed :( Wonder what will happen to Africa too, made by same company. |

Just take some of the great concepts of AC1 and make a completely seperate fantasy game. The title asheron's call would hurt the game no matter how good it was.

The original AC1 devs, where have they gone?

Of course I do, AC1 was my favorite game for a few years. And in my opinion an awesome mmorpg because of all the unique ideas. I loved the game so much I would actually sit down and read through the entire manual every now and then. Good times. Just wish they hadn't turned it into a grind fest and I wish lower levels weren't so dang easy.
I even saved the old style PC box, you know the ones that were really big hehe. I also have the beta disc from a computer gaming magazine lol... |

After digging up my old AC1 manual I found that Toby Ragaini was the lead designer for AC1...Turns out hes not with Turbine anymore because hes now with Monolith working on The Matrix Online...
What a shame lol |

These guys were clearly geniouses, it's a shame the live team kinda pissed all over the game. But I suppose that happens to every mmorpg. Where are these guys and are they working on anything?

It's a shame they closed AC2, because as crappy as the mmorpg market has been the past couple years I would have been willing to try it again.
I wish turbine would have never gotten these damn liscense deals. You know they are just going to be more WoW clones. Turbine you need to make more games like your original AC1...SKILL BASED SYSTEM WITH AMAZING RANDOMIZED LOOOOOOOT!!!!!! I have been waiting for another skill based mmorpg since........2001 I'm getting SICK of waiting. |

There was one innovation that WoW has and was big enough for me to really enjoy the game...I leveled up from 1 to 50 soley from doing quests...I never once grinded on enemies killing only for xp, because doing quests you would have alot of fun and see the world AND get xp.
However other than that yes, it's nothing new really. But it goes to show that a game that is bug-free and very playable from the start will be very popular. I only played for 2 months, but it was a ton of fun during then. This game won't be the ultimate mmorpg, but a fun game to play until the big one comes out (who knows when that will be) I agree it's very simple, but it's bringing a lot of people into this genre that wouldn't normally...that might be a bad thing though, because everyone see the success of WoW and they'll copy it :( look at SWG with the NGE :( |

I didn't like it either. It actually had TOO much action for me. I would actually get fatigued from so much intense driving. It felt like I was playing an arcade game, and that doesn't do much for immersiveness. I also don't care for the graphics style..they should have gone for something like mad maxx with huge open randomly generated worlds and not SOOO much combat.
Oh and skill system instead of classes :) |

You're right pre-cu was pretty broken too, but they could have easily made the game great if they had put the time into fixing the game rather than revamping it. If pre-cu was bug free and had the buff and armor issues worked out and if they added more content this game would have been huge. That is if they had pulled it off at the launch. Maybe delay it a year or so. Releasing games early is very, very bad.
I just hate that they combined all the classes. I loved SWG pre-cu because you could truely make your character unique, grabbing skill trees from up to 3 or 4 classes...and being able to play with your friends no matter what their level. The old SWG was truely awesome and unique in that sense, and I will miss it :( |

I agree with the original poster. The game just does not have any imerssive qualities. Clicking on mounds of dirts and bells to travel from zone to zone eeek. The loading in oblivion is fine because its really fast, in this game loading takes up to a minute or even two...
Qeynos has what 8 zones for how tiny that is? AWFUL when you have to travel to the other end... I think eq2 is one of the worst mmorpg's i've ever played actually. |
|

Wow the original poster summed up everything I would say...I had to double check to make sure it wasn't one of my posts it was so close to what I would say heh.
I think i'm gonna be done with the whole mmorpg thing because you're right, there is very little innovation, and i'm so sick of WoW clones. |

I didn't read this whole post but there really isn't ANY mmorpg i'd recommend for anyone. They all seem to be crappy.
SWG would have been great for the girls before the upgrade. I also look for a game that is more into socialization than combat, I can't find anything... :( |
