Very interesting they can confirm a date to launch the game, but still say they don't have the bugs worked out enough to support all of the people who purchased COs lifetime/6mo subs. Nor can they give an estimated date on when they might be able to. The game may not fail, but right now its not looking good. |

For those that are interested, it clearly says in this interview they are targeting Open Beta for January, and a release sometime in March. Link here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CpaTO_G2fQ
Although they can't say it, they have a deadline and are simply rushing to meet it.

Champions Online: Lifetime Subs Sell Out, Cryptic Explains
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/26/09 3:00:50 AM
I was one of the lucky ones that got a Lifetime Sub. I'm not interested in CO really, got it for the guaranteed STO Beta. I will play it until STO comes out though. So I really have no reason to complain other than the fact that this shows just how shady Cryptic is. They never announced anywhere that supplies were limited until they posted that message on the front page (during a play session of Open Beta) and in the middle of the night (for the US) . Personally I'm thinking it has more to do with available Beta Slots for STO than it does with CO. They are promising people beta slots with these promotions and know that it will be another HUGE PR blunder to let whoever just "signed up" in over someone that purchased their exclusive deal. They also promised people who complained about this "Exclusive Offer" and didn't want to pay for their way into STO beta that they will still have a chance to get in just by "signing up" . Although I'm just speculating....I wonder if this means anyone that didn't get a lifetime/6mo offer or hasn't won a contest for a beta key from Cryptic pretty much out of luck with ever getting into STO beta. |

No need for me to preorder then. My play times are to restricted at the moment. Will just have to watch what everyone is saying about the game. |

Why World of Warcraft dungeons are better than Everquest's
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 1/17/09 5:55:54 AM
Amazingly you didn't mention any of the raid dungeons, or dragons, or gods. I'm guessing you never seen The Temple of Veeshan, Veeshan's Peak, or Ssra Temple or any of the Alternate Planes that required keys/flags to get into at first. For the Dungeons you did mention... I like camping..I hate having to run around everywhere to find stuff to kill. I enjoyed sitting in an area just chatting with people while we killed stuff. I still to this day have met more people in real life that I played EQ with than I ever have in any other game. I haven't played EQ in almost 5 years now. Not because it got boring, but because I had to grow up and didn't have the time to raid 24/7 like I used to for a while. I also introduced EQ to well over 60 people some of which still play EQ to this day...some of them curse me and some of them absolutely love me for it. Either way they were and some are still addicted to it. Granted 90% of MMO players today are sissies and can't handle an EQ type game with harsh penalties and forced grouping. As for me, until they make one that great again (with better graphics) I won't be happy with the crap they put out these days. I finish all the content for them in 3-6 months and move on to the next one. Also SoE cannot have anything to do with it. I don't buy Sony products of any kind since the SWG:NGE incident.

Star Trek vs The Old Republic (cmon you knew this thread was coming)
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 1/16/09 6:13:04 AM
Its really simple for me. I love both franchises. Both games look interesting but TOR is thinking about doing the 1 thing I cannot support. Micro Tranactions for in game items for real money. So I have dropped ToR from my list completely. I am focusing completely on STO at the moment. If they fail I'm out of the MMO gaming scene for a long while. I wouldn't even be considering STO if it wasn't Star Trek. I'm sick of the MMO dev's giving us the shaft making us pay for products that are unfinished. |

mmorpg.com, can you please look into DF to protect your community ?

They owe it to us to properly list legitimate games that arent just a scam to steal money from us. It reflects badly on the industry but mmorpg.com as well. mmorpg.com lists Darkfall as an MMO soon to launch. The least they can (especially considering all of the ripoffs lately) is to ask for proof the game exists and works as promised. Its not unreasonable or unethical to ask for a beta key to review the game. And since Adventurine has offered little proof the game actually exists why should mmorpg.com continue to help promote a possible fraud ? Listing them here legitimizes them. Dark and Light, I hate to bring them up again but they had released far more info than Tasos has. They had videos, tons of screenshots, but like Darkfall they were missing a legit review. We know why they didnt allow a review today dont we. McQuaid was just like Tasos with Vanguard. He took on a semi-god status with the fanbois. Whatever he said was considered the holy scripture and couldnt possibly be false. He was attacked and criticised by many but the fanbois defended him with vicious ferver. The critics just wanted proof the game was as advertised but were attacked by McQuad's defenders. McQuaid was a total fraud. He made his cash and then sold the game to the devil (SOE) which was ironic considering the game was marketed to the fanbois as the anti-SOE true sequel to EQ. Since history hasnt been kind, we should ignore that and allow another developer to rob us ? Its a simple request, show us the goods.
God that is so f***ing true..... |

Since I wasn't invited to the beta for this I won't be ordering PRE or Regular lol. |

Don't care what their selling, if its in game items I'm out. Doesn't matter how good the game is. |

Wow, that is pretty much BS Linna. I played this game for a while when it first came out had 2 accounts (both pirates) for the express reason to own national noobs easier...it worked...like a charm with my hand eye coordination I easily owned 3-4 real players at a time and could do 6-8 npc convoy's with ease...Reading this made me glad I had to quit anything to do with SoE long ago and save me from any hassels from FLS I may have had. In fact I haven't played a MMO yet that I didn't own mulitple accounts (the most being 4 in EQ). I am one of those people that play at odd times when the servers aren't bustling with activity. As long as your paying for the accounts you should be able to do what ever the hell you want to with them. If I want to work harder and make it easier for me to get better gear/items for me to kill you easier in game the company shouldn't care. |

I'm very close to being in the same boat as the OP, I am giving 2 more games a shot then I'm done. Those are Star Trek Online and Star Wars The Old Republic. If I wasn't such a big ST and SW fan I would be done with them completely already. That being said, I am against Micro Transactions and with the rumors I will not be even trying SWTOR if it ends up using them. Same goes with STO if they at some point in the future announce micro transactions and purchassing of any in-game items of any kind for money I'll be done with the game. On the other hand I would love to be able to buy merchandise of the game...which I think a lot of company's don't even think to exploit. Single player games to me are boring, so if I may just have to find a new way to spend the free time if I end up having to quit. Not much looks interesting anymore other than the 2 games I just mentioned.

Many people don't like WoW and i just like to ask why?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 12/27/08 8:59:14 AM
I personally love Blizzard but don't care much for WoW. Because it sucks? No, not at all. Simply because coming from the Original EQ and PRE CU SWG I enjoy something that is a bit more of a challenge than the average player does. WoW was way to simple. Yes I did play it and I got to level 32...in under 23 hours of play time....without powerleveling... To me that is just way too simple. I enjoy putting time in a game and being at the top. Most people that play WoW are the opposite. They enjoy that they can play for 2-3 hours a day and get just as good of gear as someone who puts in 40+ hours. (Have like 10 friends who play WoW and this statement is their #1 thing they love about WoW). I find that distasteful . If I'm going to put in 60+ hours a week on a game there is no way in hell anyone that puts in lets say maybe 10 hours should have as good of stuff as me or have all of the best gear. I will be buying both StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3. Like I said I love Blizzard, just not WoW.
When a company makes a game like Original EQ, or SWG PRE CU again I will play it. I could care less how many other people play it. At least I will be with people who enjoy those types of games. |

EverQuest II: New Items in Station Market Place
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/18/08 6:30:03 AM
Most likely yes, just not right now. Wait about 2-3 months til they for some stupid reason think we have forgotten they had said that they wouldn't sell highend gear. It will pop up on their completely unannounced. |

Lol now Eq2 Gets the NGE pulled on them. Classic!!! Thank God I will never own, or even look at another SoE game again. I don't even buy Sony products anymore because of the F***tard Smedley. |

On another note...I would never play a game that SOE has anything to do with anyway. Thank god this doesn't effect me. I feel sorry for the people it does. |

The Future of this Industry is Creatively Ugly: Innovation in Payment Systems and Not Content/Gameplay

People want to play MMORPGs. I know I do. But the industry does not want our money; they want to force us to play as they want us to, and now suck more money of us to do it!
Not for me. Not for many of us.
I agree, I am not going to play a game that leads me in a direction, or forces me to quest just to advance at a decent pace. Some (maybe not many) like me love the grind and killing NPCS. Especially NPCS way above my level and surviving. But what is the point of doing that if your going to fall behind just because you don't want to quest. I hate quests unless it gives some kind of epic/rare gear. As for the payment schemes they are trying. I refuse to pay real money for certain items in a game. I like to earn or find them. The only way I will play is if it is a monthly basis and I can eventually attain access to all the content from that 1 monthly fee. The endless theme park games have to stop, or a lot of people that enjoyed the freedom in games like UO, EQ, and SWG (Pre-CU/NGE) will stop playing the games. |

I solo a lot but am usally duo or trio boxing my own characters. 1. Because a lot of people don't take the time to learn their character and screw things up... 2. Because its faster. 3. Because its more efficent if Im healing my own tank....i know exactly how much he can take before i need to trigger than heal. 4. and yes this may be greedy. But I get to keep all the loot/rare drops etc
I also play during non peak hours...unless the game is just crammed full of people like Eq was back in the old days, its very hard for me to find a group anyway. It wastes time I don't have. |

What will you do if Micro-Transactions catch on?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/10/08 1:44:05 AM
I would quit MMO's and probly gaming all together. At the moment i only play MMO's and only subscription based ones. Single player games leave a lot to be desired...one of them NO other real people. Another one, most single player games are only good for 8-16 hours of game play...for someone like me with a lot of time on their hands that is about 2-3 days. |

Darkfall: Interview with Tasos Flambouras
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/05/08 4:25:10 AM
Well personally I'm not interested in this game, not that it doesn't look good, its just not my cup of tea. Having said that, just reading this interview made me want to be interested in the game. I remember first hearing about this game back when I played EQ almost 10 years ago and now its getting close to release. I may have to check it out wether I think I may like it or not. The care with which this game is being made is something every MMO Company should be looking at. It shows that they actually care about what they put out there on the market. I think this game will be more popular than anyone realizes. |
