Originally posted by snapfusion Wow, I sure wish I saw this thread back in early April! Today I decided to check in this GnH forum to see the current state of the game as I was a beta tester they kept from the original testing team. I have to say anyone who thinks the devs were hard at work on this game sure sipped too much of their kool-aid! You mention some of their time may have been "donated", and they sure worked like that was the case.
I finally quit the testing about 6 months prior to the game going live, and I've tested many, many games with Heatwave being the only company I've quit on. Why? Because I posted numerous bugs on a daily basis and months and months past without 1 patch or update to the game! How can you announce your going to release the game when you're not making any efforts to fix any of the bugs???
And you think these guys worked their tails off? Doing what?
Heatwave basically acquired GnH from Perpetual Entertainment and released the game almost exactly how they acquired it! Anthony ought to be ashamed of himself for taking people's money for a game most would consider still in it's alpha stage. They didn't even correct the lighting in some areas to distinguish between day and night. At the time of release, I did my best to warn people to stay far far away so my conscience is clear. Darby or whatever her name was did an awesome job with PR and is probably the reason why people threw their money at this game. She worked harder than the entire Dev team combined, and that's a shame. |

Bold Prediction - The Secret World Will Be Game of The Year.

Originally posted by AdamTM I don't know if TSW was played a little too safe. As of right now, I only saw 1 time where someone gave another the answer to one of the puzzles and the community chewed that person out big time. If this holds, there won't be a lot of info on the web to get easy answers for these puzzles which I'm sure will cause a lot of people to quit out of frustration. A lot of people voice how much they hate the current Themepark games that hold your hand all the way to the level cap, but do they really? This game does not hold anyone's hands which is why I disagree the gameplay was played too safe. |

Bold Prediction - The Secret World Will Be Game of The Year.
General Discussion « The Secret World 5/15/12 1:02:13 PM
I have explored every inch of kingsmouth and have finished every quest except for the group quest which hopefully I'll knock out tonight. The game has me hooked and i'm pretty certain I'll pay the $200 for lifer. There are so many different kinds of quests in this game that the couple of kill y, z amount of times is hardly noticeable. And more on that point... I remember having to kill 4 of a certain mob, but the way they did it was totally unique! Each mob looked the same but had a diffent name and had a different fighting style (think of Tera where u learn how the mob wants to attack and you beat them to the punch by moving out of place at a certain time). It's like having to kill 4 wolves but each wolf has a different way of attacking, therefore each encounter is slightly different.
I can't wait to go in more detail once the NDA is lifted. Also I want to bring up the point that there really isn't a reason to form a team until you get to the group quest because only 10% at most is instanced. When 90% or more of the game is open world and everyone gets credit for their quest if they participated, even though they didn't get the first shot off on a mob, there's really no need to form a group. This may not fit for a fantasy game, but it works extremely well for a game in the Real Life category. If there were really an outbreak in my town or city, if I see someone being attacked by a zombie, I'm going to help them. If I see someone being chased by a 10 foot monster and I have a shot gun in my hand, I'm gonna shot that s.o.b. We don't need to be teammates in order for me to lend that guy or gal a hand. That's real life, and that's the Secret World.
Many times I've helped people while on my way to solve a puzzle or mystery and many times people have helped me while on their way. A couple of times I was at the same boss location as someone else and we tag teamed the boss, and we both got credit for the kill. In a sense, everyone in the open world is on the same team. You just don't have to wait around for a half an hour to form one. I love this way of game play and have been waiting for quite some time for it to be done in this way.
I'm not sure if TSW will out sell GW2 or Tera because the puzzles and mysteries will only grab hold of a certain group of role players, but TSW certainly will have my vote for GOTY. |

Originally posted by JohnnyMotrin Ah nevermind, got some clarification. You need a facebook account to play The Secret War, not World!
I don't have a facebook account and never plan to. It would have been unfortunate to have to pass on TSW over a facebook account. |

Wait... So you have to have a facebook account to play The Secret World?

ZAM TSW Preview - The first themepark MMO with a complete amusement park!

Originally posted by rpgalon That article was fantastic! I love how they had to use their environment such as the statue shooting fire and the ride with the arms to help dispatch the enemy. Ever since I learned of the various quests in this game, it seemed to me this would be a "thinking man's" game!
The more I read about this game, the more I'm stoked! I don't think I've been this excited to play a MMO since waiting for Lotro. |

Originally posted by Keyh That's exactly what I was going to say. Funcom didn't decline the purchase, your CC company did! In general, vendors don't accept or decline cc charges, the cc company do. It does sound like they were protecting themselves against potential fraud, but if you have any beef with how things were handled, it should be with your cc not funcom. |

$200 for lifetime is not bad at all. I think those who went that way with LOTRO got a guy buy. I actually wish I had taken advantage of the lifer way back when. |

Originally posted by EvilestTwin From what I read, Chronoscrolls are placed in your character's inventory so you would have to already have access to the game. Furthermore, I read that Chronoscrolls are a way to "extend" game time. You must already have game time in order to extend it I would think, so I think the answer to your question is NO at least for the time being. Maybe they'll change it. |

I just preordered yesterday. The fighting system has me hooked! As others have said, this game kind of just snuck up on me. I wasn't planning on liking the game, rather testing it on my new rig and low and behold I was treated to a system that I find way too addictive (in a good way!). |

Just to give an update as to my login issue just incase anyone else has the same problem, after trying everything known to man, I set my comp's clock to pacific standard time (I'm on the east coast) and viola! That fixed my login probs! |

Just thinking about the point rojo has brought up, I do think it would be neat if all 3 factions had different weapons for example: Dragons had swords more along the lines of katanas and tantos, and Templars swords more reflected the western european medieval theme. However in saying this, I don't fault Funcom for such segregation because it could get kind of difficult trying to seperate magic. I wouldn't want that task, and furthermore, like said before just because you're aligned with the Illuminati, it doesn't mean you've lived your whole life in New York. |

Originally posted by LadyNoh I'm hoping for the same. The crowd you described should make for an awesome player base to play with. Hopefully the kids stay far far away! |

Joel: You might remember those core stats in the beginning of the game: the DPS stat, the Health stat and the Healing stat. As you progress in the game, however, those stats will become less important to you. Early in the game, yes, they're important, because you're skills just aren't focused enough and you need broad stats to succeed. But they'll become less important because you'll be chasing that one stat that makes your build perfect.
I admit I'm one of the people who love to perfect their main toon. However I do not like running the same dungeon 100x to achieve perfection. The above quote is one of the main reasons why I am anticipating this game so much. Perfecting your toon seems to be based more on thoughtful and creative ways than the amount of hours you put into the game.
Even though this is a themepark game, it seems to echo the Mindscrambler more than the Rails!

So far what I've read about the game mechanics (minus crafting) has me totally amped as it really fits the way I like my games. The info I'm waiting on is about customizations from character creation to gear. Character creation like CoH and custom gear like a single player game would be a dream come true however I'm not foolish enough to set my bar that high. |

I will definitely be a Templar, however I would have preferred to start in New York. |
