Do you read quest text or just click accept?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/15/13 2:17:25 PM
I don't even read threads. I just click reply.

OP, thanks for your brief, expletive opinion on the game. I think the whole purpose of this forum is to opine on games like this. What is not welcome is telling people not to buy it because you didn't like it. If your argument is persuasive you don't need to tell others what to do, it would be the only natural response. Once again, thanks for sharing.

I back A LOT of KS projects but I just can't bring myself to devote any serious money to a game with beta ESTIMATED to be in almost 2 years. Too much can and will change in that time. Did you preorder GTA6 yet? It should also be out in late 2015 or early 2016. How about WoW 2? My point is that there is too large a window for any and everything to change as well as the project to run out of all funding sources long before then. Look how many games with big studios that get abandoned a year or two into development. I do hope they make the game and I will line up to pre-order 6 months out happily. |

IGN are well known for useless reviews and poor editorial. When rating a MMO at launch most professional reviewers don't include bugs or connection issues into account for scoring. They should still be reported on certainly, but factoring them into the score is poor form. If I am being completely objective I would give the game a 6.7-7. However, because of my personal preference for games that deviate from the traditional MMO formula and my love for Tabula Rasa it's more like an 8.5 for me. |

Biggest fix I am hoping for is an easier way to exit the game. I love it but play it casually when I have 30-90 mins but quitting the game is a pain unless I crash it.

Remember that first Hind or Deer you tried to kill in UO?

ahhh yes, that bleating noise they made ranks up there with the sound effects from Doom in my teen memories. Thanks for bringing them back around!

I think the game is great and I look forward to participating in this new concept in gaming. People constantly cry out for something new to break the mold while keeping their favorite features and here we are. It's a shooter/rpg-lite/mmo/dynamic content/TV tie in. And people complain that it has bugs at launch? Or that it's not enough like other games? I do agree it's not worth $60 at this point, which is why I paid $38 through a legit cd key store. |

So for those who have been playing since launch...
General Discussion « Defiance 4/09/13 12:50:42 AM
I bought it from one of those cd key stores that starts with "CJ" for $38usd and couldn't be happier. It's like a more functional Tabula Rasa with a great dev.

Rift had a relatively smooth launch but it was not perfect. Also bear in mind that it launched for a single platform and didn't have to have it's release coincide with a TV show. That being said, the PC UI will likely always be terrible. I hope they resolve that 120 refresh bug for those of you using it, but I don't know how high on the priority list it is based on how many people have those monitors. The rest of those issues are typical first day launch BS unfortunately. Let's give TRION a couple of weeks to sort it out before declaring success or failure. Personally I think they have earned it. |

Defiance is coming out in a few days. General consensus on it?
General Discussion « Defiance 3/31/13 5:27:17 PM
I don't love it on PC but I will be playing on Xbox 360 since that seems like the primary platform they designed for.

Glad it worked out for you! I hope you enjoy the game after all you went through.

We are starting to get this narrowed down a bit more. Can you please update your graphics drivers to the most recent then reboot and retry the game? http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
edit: The game get's stuck on "checking for resources" for a long time for many of us. Sometimes it take 3 minutes and I have a quad core running at 4.5Ghz. It's just poorly optimized

Originally posted by Moghidin Thanks for posting this. Two more quick questions. Are you connecting with wireless(silly I know, but they are reporting problems for some people doing this) and second what graphics card(GPU) are you using. Thanks!
EDIT: To answer your question, anti-virus programs often interfere with game client/server connections and Norton is a big offender. Many anti-virus clients have what is known as a "game mode" to attempt to address this well known issue. |

I agree with the poster above me, but not quite the same level of annoyance. I understand the OP is frustrated, but from the information we have, you have tried little to resolve it and have ignored the advice of others including myself. The problem IS on your end to some degree. The client is working on the vast majority of systems. Almost everyone can connect and play just fine. Either there is a compatability issue with your particular hardware(which would help if you posted) or it is some sort of user error. If your system is in line with their posted specs and you are not using anti-virus and/or wireless then you need to report it to their support so they can address it. Can you help us help you and help others? |

Also, just to check everything out I ran the client , connected and played for 5 mins while downloading another file in the background at 5.5MB/s. I realize that this doesn't help you much, but it does make it clear that the problem is not with their servers or the nodes between NYC and their server. Just trying to help you narrow it down, OP. |

reposting this since the OP probably won't read it on support forums:
TLDR? Use a wired connection. Don't use anti-virus. |

Why did people support a Kickstarter project for a multimillionaire?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/23/13 5:42:09 PM
He used kickstarter to essentially partially fund the game with pre-sales. It's a smart way to gauge the potential market before sinking more of his own money. I had pledged money originally but pulled my funding after his arrogant and dismissive comments about current dev talents. I have been a lifelong fan of his and his story of programming in his closet as a teen, but his recent comments show that he is out of touch and I have little faith in the end product as a result. I hope that it ends up being fun for those who did back it. |

Bite-size gaming .. the future of MMO?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/22/13 3:58:33 PM
No it's lazy. It dilutes the work being done on the SP part or the MP part. I would much prefer to have a strong experience with either than to always have one element being so much weaker. However, that is just my opinion and if you don't feel like one is always weaker than the other then that is fine and more power to you!

Bite-size gaming .. the future of MMO?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/22/13 3:43:23 PM
Originally posted by trash656 I completely agree with you. Things look bleak for MMOs which hopefully increase demand for strong single player games again, instead of the SP mode tacked on to MP games. Sadly that seems to be the trend amongst lazy game devs. |

OP, I wish this site would also ban you. The internet is full of people who feel that they can say whatever they want to anyone at any time, with no consequences. Please, I encourage you to make just as frequent use of that language in your daily person to person interactions. I feel confident that this problem will resolve itself.
They enforced their EULA and TOS(which you agreed to) and I feel that they were VERY generous and lenient in their punishment. A 3 day ban seems like they do appreciate your business and would like you to continue to pay AND curb your behavior to meet the generally accepted societal norms. |
