Asda Story was pretty damn fun filler for a couple of months for me.

Sounds like this could be one of those games just to play for the hilarity.

I know the feeling, i havn't sat in one place so to speak for a long time, i'm in and out of games after a few months at most it seems, trying to find that game that can keep me. I just ordered Amnesia: The Dark Descent, so i'll play that, but as for MMORPG's I don't really know what to look forward to, perhaps RIFT. :/

But if you want something fun to play for a few months there's plenty out there, problem is your looking for another game to hold you like WoW.

This thead definitely needs a bump. So far it's the only one I've looked through worth reading. Thanks for the information everyone.

This is going to be a mmoRPG ? Yeah, right. I believe it when I see it. 90% of all these self-proclaimed RPGs here don't even have an RP Realm/Server much less give a crap about a roleplaying comunity. Mee... all these silly ppl who want to roleplay in an RPG.

And you know this how? Do you really believe people would talk about rp, and defend rp if they had no interest in it? And do you believe there actually doesn't exist a bunch of people who would find this welcomed ? The rp crowd might not be large, not even close to - ok lets generalize a bit, the pve and pvp crowd. But there is still more than enough people to justify a game being based on that crowd. Hopefully this is it, and hopefully its has decent gameplay.

Moreover, why rant about something that won't be in the game because 'others haven't done it' when you have no idea whether it will or not? Wait until the fragging thing comes out then mumble a response if something isn't there. Or even better, politely ask to see if they would add in a server specifically for RP if one wasn't there.

So far the devs 'energy' reminds me a bit of Rubies of Eventide, one of the first MMOs I play once high-speed came to the local area. They were active, talkative and very much driven to making their game fun to play for people. Brooked no horse manure from the idjits out there. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Amen to that. I used to play Rubies and this game brings back those memories. It has been a long time since I've been able to say an mmorpg community isn't overflowing with immaturity, and the team are very involved.

Currently it's in closed beta.  THIS closed beta is actually for TESTING by testers.

Unless they're paying a professional testing company for testers, then no it's not. It's just another beta test by regular players, mos of whom will be more interested in playing than testing. See the post above mine for an example.

Because some people don't go along with the plan it doesn't change the purpose of the plan. Every event has it's dissidents. They tend to fall out pretty quick.

This game seems to be a bit of a throwback. Very low key and old school.

That's why I'm interested. Looks like an early 2000's game with modern features. Low key, and good community on there website.

All i can say is if you enjoy playing GTA you will enjoy this.

Agreed!

Is there really a comparison? I kinda doubt that, but it does make it sound more appealing.

I really like the Eastern art style most of the time, but i agree with the following statement.

What makes or breaks a game in the art department, for me, is how unique and individual I can make my character(s).

Everyone will be playing WoW. :¬(

I do kind of agree with some of the points the OP is getting at, and i do still have my strongest MMO memories from games like AC, in particular The Myth Of Soma which was doing similar things, even earlier.

I don't necessarily require some developer to dig up that same old style of play, but in the past few years i havn't played a game where i have felt like i was stepping into the unknown, experiencing nwe things etc.

Maybe that's a personal thing though more than something to do with MMO's, maybe i'm just burned out.

If FFXIV fails it's highly likely i'll be taking a long break from the MMORPG market, possibly i'll nip back to give Guild Wars 2 a go because i neve did get into the original early on. Other than that though i'm not interested at the moment.

All that talk about 70's arcade games makes me feel insignificant again, having only been born in '91. :(

Strange, very strange indeed. MMORPG and The Mummy would never have made a connection in my mind anyways, but i'm at elast interested to see what it ends up coming out like.

I don't mind cash shops IF they aren't so heavily implemented that you end up having to spend more than you would on your normal subscription based game in order to be competitive.

The videos coll n all, but i think people are kidding themselves if they expect a finished article on release, or even anything remotely close. This one looks doomed to fail.

Thanks for the great article, very well written.

I've been a lifelong fan of the Final Fantasy games, played ever single one of them, from number 1 thourgh to number 13, the only one i missed out was numer XI! So this is going to be my first FF MMORPG, despite the fact that i have been playing MMO's for over 10 years now. The reason i didn't play XI was simply because i did not have the money at the time.

That said, i did play a little, just not enough, and i know other who played XI. I hope XIV changes enough in the lore to warrant another release, and I hope first and foremost that it is DIFFICULT. If this game does flop however, i think now would be the perfect chance to jump on number XI, so we'll see.

I know Bioware are a highly capable team, but in the end this is a pretty different venture for them, so i hope all goes well, they will get a hell of a lot of subs, but it's mere speculation at the moment at how many they'll be able to keep.

This thread just further proves that it is now impossible to mkae a thread about Darkfall without bitching matches ensuing.

Hell i could make a post titled "Dakrfall is like a banana." and it'd turn into a bitching match. -_-

I wonder what they'll do when they get hordes of people complaining and asking for there money back? Seems to me like they are in denial, this game is not even close to completion, and they should not be asking for money for it yet. Simple as.

That said, i hope a miracle happens, and the game sorts itself out.

FF XIII was worse than meh. It was horrible. But i don't really think it should be a sig of what were going to get here.
