On some fronts, it might be an improvement, that's true. NASA is legendary for the quality of its software, they have fewer errors per 1000 lines of code than any other developer of similar complexity. But that comes at a price, of course. An MMO developed by NASA would be virtually bug-free on launch day ('scuse the pun), but it would have only one class and would take 10 years to develop...

And the servers would spontaneously explode every 6 years...

I think they each game should release different servers with the game...f2p servers and p2p servers...then you can have the game AND the community you want. Might work :D

Actually he makes the criteria very clear, he based his list off of the MMO's currently giving the most to their respective player bases. You can hear this right upfront at the beginning of the video. The disconnect is our presumption that the title The best MMOs of 2013 represents 'The Best' overall.

My disagreement comes with the comments about how much said game adds content/updates/fixes, just because they add quantity that doesn't mean its quality.

But based off his own stated criteria his list makes sense. Not my picks but I understand why he put each at their respective spots.

As for Rift since Storm Legion they have not kept the pace of additional content they did leading up to Storm Legion. Again this omission makes sense.

I dont mind people praising good games and companys...but you offer opion without any supporting examples or facts.

If you are familiar to the genre, then I don't need to reprint here what is out there for everyone to see about Trion Worlds. I said it was a shameless post not gonna argue there.  But I am the guy who buys every new MMO out just to give it a try to maybe find something fun and enjoyable, even just for the 'free' month, RIFT however just keeps me coming back it is polished and enough to do even if you are hardcore or casual.

Facts are out there not saying anything profound here just talking amongst fellow gamers :D

I agree to some degree. But no, im not playing Rift and im definitely not wrong. Everyone plays or stop playing a game for different reasons.

My reason for not playing is that Rift dont cater to players that prefer to role alts rather than focus on 1-2 characters for end game. I dont care about end games in mmos. I care about building my character in PvE and exploring the vast worlds from lvl 1 to cap and learning the lore  through enjoyable (not boring grindy) quest lines. And learning the lore behind each race while having different experiences with each race. That is something Rift is missing. And thats why the game dont cater to players like me. The rest of the game is fun, but this is my problem and i find the solution in other games where i dont have to go through the exact same things with every character i create.

In every mmo i play i have at least, at least 5 characters from different races and classes, expecting to do what i just described above. If i cant do it then the game is not for me.

I can't disagree with you there, I wish they (Trion), would have done more in that area as well. Seems companies gloss over areas like this and haven't been able to wed the two extremes. Thanks for the response!

The arguements that Rift at end game promotes cookie-cutter builds is flat out inaccurate. 1.6 patch alone allows 3-4 viable end game raid tank builds and that is just in the warrior class.

This is just the arguement of those on the outside looking in.

Now if you are the player that completely ignores being an asset in a group,would rather build your toon based off of your own interpretation of an effective build and choses to be oblivious to the ton of work and info others have done then ya the end game of Rift forces you into a cookie cutter build.

I play a warrior, each toon can have 5 different builds/specs utilizing 9 different souls. I have 3 tank builds and 2 dps builds all of which are unique and equally viable for end game grouping or raiding.

Perhaps your comment was not intended for me, but if you read my last post on your thread, I admitted that spamming on General chat was not the ideal solution. Likewise, I stated I believed LFD was not the best method to tackle this issue. I mentioned that the way DDO did it is one I felt achieved the perfect balance between convenience and sociality.

With these inputs made by the developers, it is evident that we still know very little regarding this system's future. It could very much resemble the way DDO implemented their LFG system or it could approximate the LFD system from WoW. concerning that, we must wait and see, but making this tool useful for finding groups to play Heroic content I believe to be a positive sign.

in all honesty I wasn't really trying to point out anyone in particular was more stating fact how player complaints almost always = hater on this forum yet bioware admits its an issue and will implement same thing and all of a sudden no hate.. oh the irony...

100% agree with you Sanosukex, I read through your other thread (without posting) and it was a big majority of them screaming to high heaven that this will destroy the community and wanted it nowhere near 'their game'.

They actually have Solo/Duo dungeons at lvl 50, only 3 atm, however. Also, they have a very nice acievement system, dailies, epic story quest lines and the ever popular artifact collecting :). Not to mention the new zone via patch 1.6

That is fairly odd and something that should be looked into further.  The new promotion may have brought in a few more players, but  would it change it that drastically....hmmm.

 

It is because of SWTOR on both counts the recent population drop and then you will see a steady increase (not saying it will be alot) starting about now.

The 'free' month is over and just like with every other mmo launch post WoW a number of players will not sub past the free month and go back to what they were playing beforre.

Can we just be real? The subscriptions have dropped so they have to bring servers together instead of spending money to keep extra machinery running for servers that were designed to hold many more players. The game is not going to shut down anytime soon, but it is a sign of it's popularity declining.

Or a SWTOR just came out and Rift took a big hit (for a while). The server I play on is still very populated. I think this is a great thing, if riftjunkies.com is correct on the number of servers closing, that is not very many for how many they have up.

They have free server transfers anyway so people are hopping all over the place anyway so pop. change weekly.
