Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes: Amenadresh Returns!
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/25/12 11:49:53 AM
Wrath of Heros has serious issues regardless if you are upset they are not making warhammer online better. It has issues as an arena game. They only have 12 heros you can play if you own them all or rent them which is a far cry from League of Legends. The biggest issue is that the pricing is too high for people who want to pay with real money. Elite tactics bought from Ornate chests seperate the best teams from the good teams. When playing a game in which more than one team is using good team work, the team with certain elite tactics will win. Having to spend 200 gems on a random 1/15 chance of getting 1 of the 4 amazing elite tactics is beyond fusterating. I dont want to spend 60 dollars just to get 5 chances at randomly geting a good elitre tactic and thats 60 dollars before you buy any heros. They bascially made the game cost way too much time or way too much money. You can rent heroes but they are weaker versions of owned heroes because you cant equip masteries or tactics. They should have operated the game where they would make less money on each person but make it up with total sales becasue the current pricing scheme is turning away new players. The game population has been on a solid decline for weeks. |

I am not a grief driven player personally but these people talking about dominating their server and griefing other clans seems pretty silly when you can so easlily avoid pvp. Even when you die teleporting back to a certain location is not hard. I am guessing in the end game things get much smaller. I am sure each server will have their unapologetic zerg which holds the end game content if you are able to do such. Territory control would be so great. |

Project Copernicus due later this year

I also noticed he said he has been very successful taking something very poplular already and slightly tweaking it in a new way it seemed like that may also be a theme for the mmo as well. That mentality in game developement is kinda of a big studio controlled game evolution point of veiw. I am pretty sure people who feel like there is a lot of wow clones out there would be turned off by a comment like his. |

Blacklight Retribution: First Impressions with Ripper X
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/16/12 8:15:38 PM
I think its pretty obvious mmorpg.com ownership has decided to whore itself out to advertisers ( feature stories about Dragon Age and Skryim and cross promo to unbound gamer and RpgGuru etc) . Asian made mmo's pay websites like these a good deal of money for ads. As most commenters said how much different is this game to BF 3, and Call of Duty in terms of MMOness. I think Ripper has a good personality and voice to do video reviews but the review could have been done better in terms of what got mention/reviewed as another poster said. |

Dungeon Keeper was awsome.

Like another poster said the problem is when devs make mmo content that is so solo friendly you can't find groups or a reason to even group. |

Should developers listen to us players?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/09/12 6:47:54 PM
Devs should consider players thoughts and consider other factors as well.
If players dont like a feature and want it removed, you could consider changing the feature to make it better. Therefore listening to the fans but not being a victim of the vocal players only. |

Fallout Online: Court Rules That Rights Belong to Bethesda

If they also have the right to assign their right to make a Fallout MMO they could just sell it and profit as well.

Do we even need CGI trailers? I mean what do they really add? Kurt started off wanting to make an mmo. I wonder how the single player verson came about. Also I recall last week 38 studios was looking for a loan for 75 mil to move to RI instead of MA. Like RI developement council was going to maybe grant them 75mil loan. They got 100 employees now and want to have as many as 500. |

The company that made Hero Engine was working on their game Hero's Journey but put so much work into the engine and decided to sell it as middleware refocused their efforts on the engine instead of Hero's Journey. SBG got the engine at the early stages of its commercial release and now it has matured some. Herocloud comes with Source code I believe and Hero's Journey as a reference example. I think they still may release Hero's Journey at some point but not sure. |

Originally posted by zeowyrm Personally speakin, I find MMOs appealing because they require more thinking then watching television and MMOs have a more dynamic and unpredictable feel to them due to high multiplayer interaction. That being said I have not played an MMO for over 10 months. Although, I tend to play MMO's far more then any other PC game. My brother who has ADD as well plays a lot of XBOX. With my type of ADD it seems although I can only play a mmo in one mode which is very intense and with the same result of burning out quickly. So maybe some of those guys who rush to max lvl then quit are ADD suffers. I am not really into getting max lvl ultra fast but I do get there before the majority. Thing with ADD is like you can't always tell when someone has it. I think all the devices like cell phones, twitter, texting etc are making a lot people become ADD like at least in the underfocus way. |

I have ADD/ADHD there are a lot of common misconceptions. I know a lot of people with ADD/ADHD and it effects us differently. My friend has to use ear plugs when he takes an exam so that he does not get distracted. I do not at all. In fact, I could take an exam in a crowed bar. (under focus /over focus) Still we both have ADD/ADHD. There is something about being able to pay attention to interesting things much better then most other things. I know a lot of people would be like doh everyone is like that but you have to think of it to an extreme degree. Zoned out, absent minded, lost in thought those are words/phrases someone with ADD often has attributed to them. Being ADD/ADHD is not all bad there are some very nice benefits to the "disorder". |

Customization through cool crafting system
MMORPG Game Concepts « Developers Corner 4/12/10 3:45:23 PM
The detail at the connection sites would have to be less unique so as to make sure all the combinations match up. I don't think thats a huge con considering the entermainment value of the customization. I don't see why you cant just take some weapon models and slice them up and place hard points/node on the different areas they could connect. Then have a list of node 1 or hard point 1 items ( handle) that match to hard point 2 items (cross guard) and so forth. But like I mentioned before in order for all the points to match up decently the items will have to be less unique at least at their connection hookups. I mean why not add some functionalities of a 3d modeling tool in the game if you got a big enough budget. Add some limitations and throw in some basic stuff and you got the start of the best crafting system to date.
Another idea I was thinking about is uniforms. You never see uniforms in mmo's much. In games like darkfall or shadowbane you could make it so crafting or npc aided gear production was significantly faster for uniforms over unique gear. So you could have all custom gear but if you want to gear up fast and quickly you're going to wear a uniform. I think it works well to a point with other talk of no tags and guild tags. |

Problem is with mmo industry if you don't have 5 mil or more you're going to have a very hard time doing it. It could be done with an indie company but man it would be hard to pull off. I looking into doing that now with the bigworld engine but I don't have enough money to pay employees and getting volunteer/unpaid help for such a large and coordinated project is really really challenging. I am not saying it can't be done just extremely hard. The mmo scene with the world economy has made it harder for the 1-10 mil projects to get funding, all you see now is mostly old projects in that range finishing up. So its either get a group to do it for free until it is published or convince a large studio to do it. I think Xylon or something was made with a small budget in Russia and they have those game play elements but it is still in beta. |
