I generally have about 5 accounts in each game I play. I like to multi-box... but also like making alts. Some games drive you to alts, though. They have 'flavor of the month' cycles where if you really want to be successful (highest level of success), you need to play 'class x' with 'build x/specx'. So, I have alts. And, yeah, I also like having a few 'secret' alts that I can play when I simply don't want to be bothered. |

If you've been debating playing FFXI.
The Airship (General) « Final Fantasy XI 2/19/11 2:26:25 PM
Yeah, played the game at launch. Tried to go back, but was told they couldn't recover my account. No worries. I purchased the game again. New account. Logged in 2 days in a row for about 30 minutes each time. 3rd day, tried to log in... account suspended while under investigation. Emailed support... no response. Screw 'em. Don't need the headache. I just wanted another game to act as a diversion, that's all. "Throw it in the gutter, and go buy another" |

No worries at all. And thanks for the very prompt reply. Enjoying Rift BETA thus far. I'll be sure to read over the clan site more. |

@ the OP - Is SAGA an adult/18+ only guild? I looked over the clan site and noticed 'there are families in our clan' but then noticed 'must be 18+' to join. Is this to say that there are son's/daughter's of guild-members in SAGA as well? I'm not trying to split hairs here, but I've been looking for a 'mature' (adults only) guild for quite some time. |

I'm enjoying the game. I guess I've reached a point where I'm a bit more realistic about my expectations from MMO's. I expect to see 85% of the posts and things stated in public chat to be negative. This thread hasn't failed to live up to the mark. |

How 'I" would 'fix' WoW:
1. Stop watering down character classes. It seems like the things that really helped make classes stand apart from one another have been distributed to several different classes. It's just bastardization and blurring of the lines. Each class continues to lose it's flavor, the unique qualities that it had... blah. 2. More races. 4 new races in 6+ years... wtb more, please. 3. More classes? Maybe... 4. Make character classes 'deeper'. Reinforce the things that really make them 'different' from one another. Celebrate those things, don't water them down, hide them, and... well, see item 1. 5. Change the character model artwork. K, druids got new cat/bear/tree models... um, what about everyone else? 6. More character customization options. During both character creation AND character development. Sliders for height, weight, features, etc.,.. 7. Item customization - dye kits, etc.,.. Tired of looking like the other 11,999,999 people when I hit 85. 8. Give me the option to roll a character on a 'mature' server. Yes, I'll pay to do so. 9. Better travel between expansion zones. Now that portals are gone, going back to the old zones is a pain in the arse. I hate it. (yes, hate) I'd start with those 9 and go from there.

Kinda like your post, OP. Nothing new to read or see in your post, but you went ahead and created it anyway. Didn't you? You wanted YOUR voice to stand out and your opinion to be known. Kinda like the creators of RIFT wanted their MMO out there.... their flavor. |

All of this, and people still think I'm silly for saying that I would pay extra $$ per month to play on a 'mature' server. I would. I understand that MMORPG's are 'games' and 'games are for kids'. That's the usual response that I get whenever I discuss the idea of 'adults only' servers. It's not that I want to kill all of the fun or that I want an environment that is serious 100% of the time. But the type of trash that's running through our games these days, we shouldnt' have to tolerate or accept it. Unleash the banhammer already. If I were a CSR, I would watch the chat channels for a while, locate the offenders, then start silencing them. I would take away their ability to speak in public channels for 'x' length of time, based on the content of their spam they may be silenced for hours/days. 2nd and 3rd times they did it, I would make sure they knew they were warned and that I intended to ban their accounts permanently if they didn't stop. 3rd time... banned for life. I would add another twist... I would be sure to capture chat logs and email them to the player. And depending on the age of the player, those logs should go to the parents of the player. And I hear the statement: 'it's a game...it's supposed to be fun'. The statement is correct. It is supposed to be fun.... for EVERYONE, not just the immature. |

The grass is always greener, eh? I could easily leave WoW for RIFT. And if/when I get bored with RIFT, then I always have the option to return to WoW. As Mark Twain (and Loke) said: "Quitting smoking is easy, I've done it a thousand times." If/when I return to a game after leaving, I do the same thing anyone else would... I check to see if the things that I previously considered 'broken' have been fixed. If not, I usually sink into the game and enjoy the sense of familiarity for a while, but then I realize why I quit the game in the first place. I do this a few times with a game usually, then I finally quit entirely. I did this with SWG, WAR, and EQ2, to name a few. I've taken 'breaks' from WoW. But since Cataclysm launched, I find myself not missing the game... at all. I'm not saying I 'hate WoW', I'm saying that I don't have any craving or drive to play the game the way that I did previously. I found myself logging in for about 10-15 minutes a day, being bored and logging out. I was logging in out of 'routine', nothing more. Will RIFT be different? I don't really know. Sure, I've played the BETA (and am playing the BETA), but RIFT hasn't even officially launched yet. What I do know is this: I don't miss WoW. I plan to play RIFT. I was 'done' with WoW before I played the RIFT beta. The grass may very well be greener on the other side... but remember, somebody is gonna have to mow that sh*t, too. |

I wanted to check this game out, so made an account, downloaded the game... and then ran around for 30-40 minutes and didnt see a single person. I think I managed to find 3-4 mobs to kill. Um.... zzz. I've played sandbox games before. I wasn't expecting 10 NPC's around me with some type of 'glow' about them, telling me they had quests., BUT I wasn't expecting the world to appear 'dead'. I honestly thought I would log in and be dead within a few seconds. I was completely prepared for that cold reality. But... nothing.
Not sure what to make of that, really. Nobody? To not run into at least 1 other player in over half an hour just seemed... I dunno, just didn't leave me with a good impression. |

What genre would you like to see an MMORPG based on?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/14/11 2:31:13 PM
HIstory... with some twists? Chances to go back and re-write some key points in history? See what the world might have been like if 'the other guys' would've won this war or that war? Could be interesting. |

Manners. Respect. Gone. Maybe I'm just old? Maybe it's the way I was raised? Or maybe it's my generation? But 1/2 of the 'young one's' that play games today apparently haven't ever been taught any type of manners. Add in the fact that they are anonymous/hidden by the veil of the internet, that only helps promote the amount of trash/garbage that is spewed. Again, I'd pay extra $$$$ per month to play on servers with more 'mature' players. And over the last 5-10 years, it's gotten worse... much worse. |

I play 'the bad guy' in most games, because in my line of work, I'm forced to be 'the good guy'.

I see both sides in this matter. Yes, it's a FFA/Full loot game. I get it. And, yeah, I also see that it's pointless to kill a brand new player. If the community in the game does nothing but eat/kill the wounded. I'm not saying the ganker should be penalized, but they should realize they aren't making any fans of the game by doing what they are doing. And no, I'm not saying that new players need to be handled with white velvet gloves either. Sure, they need to realize that the game is harsh. But ganking lowbies/newbies is honorless. |

Sandbox doesn't have to mean the game needs to look like it was crafted back in the 98-2000 era. I really want to like this game, but this resembles a F2P game more than something I would pay for. When I see this game, it makes me think that I'm going to be starring in some lost episode of "Little House on the Prairie" while "Duelling Banjo's" plays in the background and scenes from "Grizzly Adams", "F-Troop", and maybe some odd lumberjack-reality-TV show mixed in. The way this game 'looks' is enough of a negative. I dig sandbox games. But this just doesn't have any real 'hook' and without the 'fit/finish', where is the attraction? |

If I could just have my preCU or even just preNGE SWG back, I'd be happy. Dead horse revived and beaten to death again and again, I know.... ... For PVP... I've been logging out of the MMO's and playing FPS games again. To just escape and mess around - DC Online. For some odd reason, super speed with leaping abilities = odd sense of enjoyment from hauling arse around town, running up the sides of buildings, jumping from building to building, and wrecklessly falling/flying through the air. Not sure why that's so fun... but it is. It makes travel in nearly every other game 'boring'! **** it also makes me miss my old ForceRun ability from SWG. (before sparkle To quest and such... RIFT will be the way I go. (My personal expectations have this game set between WAR and WoW, but I'm praying that it's a huge hit.) Crafting -- meh. I don't need a job to do while I'm in the game. Players -- hard to look anywhere other than WoW for player population. That doesn't speak to 'quality', just 'quantity'. ... Anyway, I'm kinda in the same boat. No single title really fills off the needs/wants from a game. Frustrating. With this many titles, not 1 game is 'complete', imho. |
