Oh come off it people.. There is no "real" originality in art (pardon me, entertainment) nor there ever was. It's all the same done in a different manner. Shakespeare's Hamlet was a "ripoff" from a dozen Hamlets before and so was Goethe's Faust.

Get real people. This "cloning" thing is getting ridiculous and the OP is pointing this out. If the thing works no one is going to care if it borrowed features, gfx, UI or whatnot from games before. These things evolve and true revolutions in art (pardon me, entertainment) are very rare if they exist at all.

People like you are the dullest ever. Sure there is originallity in art. The artists personal touch? You can't say that everything is made before someone. Because, how do you know? Does your intellect and reasoning tell you this? Because i smell bullshit. Everything a person does, atleast in litterature and art that has meant something for the world. Wasn't just the paint and pages. It was the persons touch and thoughts.

So you honestly believe there was another Davinci, Goethe, michellangelo, gogh etc? That's just sad you know..

Agreed. Since when does Xp run games better? I have noticed no difference (except wonderful graphics from dx10) that would make xp a better performance runner. Because it takes less Ram on your computer? Well yeah. If that is the reason. Get more ram >>; it takes 500mb of ram and 8gb of space. Is that so bad?

And for those who complain about those Bsod. Ive never ever gotten a single one of them.

Then again, it was the same fuss about xp when it came out so meh. I just like progress and new tech. :p

I noticed i have a x64 dualcore. I should change to a  64-bit version. And get an additional 2gig of ram while im at it.

Warhammer came out about.. 25years ago.

Warcraft came out in the late 90's (what i recall atleast. Could be wrong)

Blizzard have obviously gotten inspiration from games workshop's warhammer world for their characters. Even though they seem somewhat more ugglier and etc.

Bash and troll and like both games as you desire. I do not care. Warhammer is warhammer and wow is still wow. Even though they are "the same"

The game would have been released if there was nothing to fix and polish out.

Plus the devs have said a million times in both beta and normal forums that the general beta client is not the client that will be used at launch.

The beta client also runs the debugger at the background  which causes a lot of stalls while loading something.

I agree that its frustrating to not being able to play AoC, but , you have to give those ppl credits for trying until the last second to give ppl like YOU and great game to play.

I cannot of course tell you what to do, or what game you should play and not. Its all up to you.

However, i'd like to point this out.

My pc died a couple days ago and i am using my gf;s atm while she;s getting a new one.

My point is that AoC was all laggy and unplayable on my old pc which had these specs :

P4 @ 3 Ghz / 2 gigs RAM @ 800 MHz / ATI HD 2900 XT / MSI P945 mobo(not really sure of the model)

As u can see that was a mid end computer with a couple good stuff in it and some that were 4 years old.

My g's pc on the other hand has these in it : E6750 @ 2.66 GHz / 1 gig RAM @ 667 MHz / ATI HD 2900 XT / Asus Digital home P5W DH Deluxe mobo.

It cannot run at high settings cause of low ram but at medium im getting average 35-40 FPS and on lowest 64-70 FPS.

The verdict? AoC beta client is weird. It works for some ppl and for others it just doesnt.

Solution1; The beta client doesn't support either multiple cores nor dx10. Explains alot huh? :p

That's why im lagging like mad. (even though after a few fixes and tweaks im gettign decent fps)

And about those looong pesky loading screens. I used to have 10mins, i have 10seconds now.

People that just pops into the game. notice how it lags and is unplayable then uninstalls it and comes here to bash it should not call themselves gamers at all.

This will probably shut a few mouths of the haters.

but yeah. I will steal your thread for a second to review my spec.

Okay, so i got a key for the open beta. Install was a drag but the patching went smooth and fast.

Character creation; Major lag. Took me over 5mins to actually load the toons and pick a class.

first load was long and annoying and when i got the beach i was lagging like a monster. Getting to the town made it worse. I constantly crashed and was hella annoyed.

Then i read some things about the client and how to decrease the amount of lag.

I took away all the shader files in my Aoc folder. Took window mode at 1024*768, im still running the game at medium/high with a decent 40+ fps with a few downfalls to 10-15 when loading new areas and such. My loading times are now 10-20seconds instead of 10minutes.

Huge improvement. Then i installed 3guru's 169.44 and huzzah! Now i can run the game. Almost instant respawn loadings. The "instance" spots. (like the one you get into after you hit level 6 with level ~10+ pirates takes 5seconds.

Sure, i get some lags now and then and freezes. But i decreased my crashes to almost null.

And this is even though the debugger is running in the background. A somewhat old client version patch. And such, im looking forward for the real deal. And i hope with the upcomming pvp event at the 10th. They will change the client version to a newer one.

Just my two cents really for those with issues.

I downloaded from the torrent @ thepiratebay. Got like 1mb+ speed and a friend of mine had 6mb/second.

then again, both are swedes so meh. Could be that issue aswell.

wow. Im not gonna get that speed because im living in sweden. But hey, seems i can get it down atleast xD

2mins left and i got enough space~ I'll post pictures tomorrow and scream of pain and agony about the lags~!

Do it like many others do. Get level10 get a pet (doesn't matter which one nor stats) go to that kashyyk spot instance thingy channel3 and go down until you see a huge pile of afk/non afk people letting their pets beat feral wookies. Takes yuo to 90 in two/three days. It's what i did with my chars :p

Ah well, atleast you gave an honest view of the game. I still want to play Aoc to see it with my own eyes.

too bad i lost the beta event this session >.< Ah well, worst case scenario. I'll buy the game and regret it afterwards (if it's bad) xD

1; not at all really..

2: It's pride and progress. They won't turn back and  let everyone (which we all already know) that they made faults. Taking a step back is not an option for them, nor many other companies..

3: Even if people say that they would play on it. I still doubt they'd drive in enough money due to the letdowns they have given. Then again, 250k sub's could suddenly come back aswell :p

talk about bashing a game. He played for two hours and decided the game sucks.

I'll give you my view of what i did see on my 30day time before i uninstalled it and stacked it with other mmo's i didn't like..

First of all. high req specs and you barely get anything juicy for it..?

Highly demanding game that doesn't give ALL that much graphics and eye-candy.

I saw a few people but not enough to be impressed. Yet there are people playing it.

It's rather "smooth" to some parts. But much is still needing some work.

I'd say, get a trial and try the game. if you don't like it. meh, atleast you didn't buy it then :p
