Returning to RO, need some help
Prontera Town Square (General) « Ragnarok Online 7/18/11 6:54:42 AM
They scrapped that first version of Ro2 and is going to re-release a new version much closer to the original but that won't come out til later.
Also, check out ragial for the latest prices and such. www.ragial.com I would recommend starting playing on valkyrie instead as there are so many more players on it and that it will be a much more convenient and better experience for you. |

Originally posted by Cherpie I can understand where you are comming from with that. But you have also have to think about us SWG Vets that was around before CU and NGE arrived. We saw how the game became something entirely different. I accepted CU as it was still SWG for me but I couldn't undersatnd NGE which changed the game, made it easier on all aspects and dumbed it down so much I started to question SOE. Now, I have played NGE from time to time just to see if friends are still playing (some still do) But overall you can tell what NGE did. It's not the SWG I knew that's dying, it's something else.

Sony's Compensation Details - Is it enough?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/05/11 4:39:50 PM
So we that got our info stolen that doesn't currently have a subscription gets screwed around? Great. I was thinking about going back to either Eq2 for nostalgia or to play at the extended. But i guess they just like to favor one part =p |

I actually forfeited my Ps3 for a Wii. I never used it anyways =p But so far i find a wii to be a good console if you have friends to play with ^^
Other than that, since sony managed to compromize the information for PSN users i dont feel to keen about ever owning a machine of theirs again. That has to be one of the biggest blunders i have yet to see. |

They are remaking Ro2 though. It will be more towards the classic Ro :p |

As my fundings are low at the moment i wont be joining you guys til after the official release :/ I hope you guys will post alot of screenies and videos though! |

SWG gets voted into the top 5 for MMO of the year
General Discussion « Star Wars Galaxies 1/17/11 1:17:00 PM
Good for those that still play SWG. Personally i found it a personal insult that SoE decided to mule the game i loved and redo it into a shitty game that it is now.
Well, last year was rather on the dry spot when it comes to mmo's i'd say. |

In beta3 i managed to tackle a Rift solo with my marksman/ranger/saboteur. I didn't get as big reward as when there are several people in it but i still managed to do it. I managed to beat it when most people were offline (due to the fact that im european and it was an odd time for both americans and europeans) So it scales depending on how many people are in the same zone :) |

My beta experience (not reading squat about the game nor finding out any kind of information and just playing the game with my own knowledge and experience) is that the game is very polished and i was amazed how well done it is. For those that doesn't like it because they aren't pushing anything new and is a "wow" clone i only have to say one thing really. They aren't trying to do anything new innovative thing. It's just a polished version of mechanics already known to people. It's like what Blizzard did with wow. Took many good ideas, polished them and are trying to optimize them for a good gameplay.
So you will see alot of familiar things. I have seen all stuff in this game already. But usually in bugged down, and broken mechanics. WAR failed to deliver in my opinion promising alot of stuff and gave out almost null.
Combat is interesting. It's familiar but feels more fluent, especially the higher level you get and you have tons of fun abilities to use when you are approaching different circumstances. I didn't touch crafting that much but according to people it's similiar to Aion in some way. And i got that feeling when i poked around in late beta with a newly made tank when i picked up mining. User interface is rather okay. You can bind but you have to go into the interface to actually add more bars and rebind to use the new ones unlike in others (Lotro) where they use alt+keys or ctrl+keys. Animations are great. It feels good to see smooth okay animations, stances, mounts etc. I hope it will go the same way further into progress.
Let's talk about the soul system. You get a total of three souls to use at the same time at any given point. You can get more through quests and do alternative builds which you can change to with a click. You buy extra spots for new three soul builds for a fee. You chose one main which you will put the majority of your points into. A secondary for some and a third which you will just have for the 0 point benefits. Sure, you could spend them evenly but what i've read and experienced that makes your build rather messy.
The visual. I ran the game on medium only as i wanted to experience the game and not stare at how pretty it could be. But it looks great non the less. I love how the characters are made. How easy you can alter them and the fact that the females doesnt run aronud in thongs and high heels all the time! Sure, i played a ranger and they had somewhat well dressed characters whilst my tank had a platebra.
The rifts. If you have played warhammer online you will recognize them alot (and probably older games but i cant recall where i have seen em) They are public battlegrounds where you work with your fellow players to bring down them. A rift can randomly spawn in your area and they are pointed out on the map as a whirlwind which also tells which level they are and if they are a less or major rift along with element. You get loot depending on how well you damage/heal/whatever in the rift and you get loot. There is also NPC's from opposing factions that randomly spawn and tries to make standings in each zone. There could be bosses spawning and huge commander groups trying to take a hold of villages/points of interest. That's one of the things i really liked as they walk around as well! I know it's hard to review a beta. But i will review it after i've gotten it and played it some more. But for a beta i'm amazed that the majority is already done and the upcomming betas will just test things and do tweaks. For people that are looking for something "new" they shouldn't play this as it's the "same old". Basically a mix between WHO and Aion in some way along with some touches of EQ. I personally was amazed with the lore and questlines as i dislike linear quests.
I wont rate the game yet as i have to play it more but as of now it could be a game for me as a casual player.
I didn't experience any pvp as those warfronts were not active when i played and i only saw three of the opposite faction which died fairly fast.
These are my opinions not having read squat about the game. I did not get influenced by fanboys nor flamers. If you have anything negative to say about my post do post it as constructive critisism is great and i like hearing other peoples experience :) But if you havent played or just played the game for an hour or two your experience of the game is almost null and you cant pass a judgement about the game.
Cheers

I was in a guild called spartan league or something similar, can't really recall.. Other than that my character was named Melo, pre-cu he was a crafter/scout Cu he became a bountyhunter. |

I'd also suggest Haven & Hearth.

Fallout: New Vegas (who is gonna get it?)
General Gaming « General Discussion 9/24/10 5:38:06 PM
An area that survived the nuclear war? Really? God. (yes, that's what i read about it that that area survived the nuclear holocaust) And that basically killed the entire Fallout feeling for me. I guess people will enjoy it but i didn't get the Fallout feeling from F3 either as it's just Oblivion with guns :p |

Well, i'd say you should look into Lord of the rings online, Everquest2 or Atlantica then. Warhammer online isn't that great of a deal considering the population is rather low.
Lotro, Eq2 and Warhammer do have trials so you could check them all out. But i recommend the two first for lore, quests and immersion. And for the rest of the forum guys, be specific what you wanna do. Pvp, pve crafting etc.. It'll be much easier for them :p

As said previously, just ignore those people that acts that way, they're only there to get their satisfaction with people responding to their idiocy. Heck, i didn't really see many of those as a mahirim the first month, i guess i were lucky? And yeah.. As Agricola said, AoC have such an awful community which makes the barrens in wow look like a bunch of mature men talking about quantumphysics.
Sidenote: Agricola! Where did your links go? ! |

How old school of an online gamer are you?

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but.. This is mmorpg.com. What did you expect? I've had a good read though. I feel that im somewhat too young for some of those games everyone is reffering to, i haven't played Zork as an example.. And i've never heard the term "grue" before though Mundane i've had! Which surprises me.. But i guess hanging around Nwn did it for me.
Kudos for starting this one, but it would have been better if you knew that the people here usually flame for no particular reason and wave around their EP's (Funny how experience points became E-peen over the years huh?) I won't say that i'm a "old-school" player. There is no such thing.. People just started their gaming at different stages in their life, and i see no honor in being a Pen & papter dungeons and dragons player for years, yet that's who i am and i won't flame people who haven't tried out the little older games. Heck.. Generation changes sadly, but people can't stay stuck in the past.. No wonder the games are so awful nowadays :p Enough ranting from my side though. This post probably makes little to no sense. But i wont edit nor fix it.

But yeah, when i used to play i got pk'ed several times though none of those were gloating about it and rubbing it in my face. Only when i pk'ed o.o Except for when i went to copperfield as a Mahirim and ravaged some newbies there, it ended up in a 3 vs 20 match! It was so awesome to see new players co-op against me and two other mahirims. |
