I just thought it was funny when zevran tried to hit on my male character and then i had to reject him and then he betrayed me later.  Only in bioware rpgs.

Dragon Hype...errr...Age. Two words. Memory leak. It will leak out of my memory hopefully faster than it leaked into my PC's memory. Another Lie-o-ware commercial milk run. RIP the real Bioware. Why is this console crap of an offline crpg even brought up here ffs??? Please.

What do u mean console crap, the gameplay is more like old school PC rpg like baldurs gate which I like.

Has anyone else gave it any thought that Dragon Age may eventually become a mmo hence part of the undisclosed reason why Bioware wanted this game advertised on this site ? Bioware even said themselves that The Old Republic may not be the only mmo they work on.

The way DA:O is atm, it could never work as a mmo.

But warcraft did and it was a real time strategy game.

I'll go first.

1.) Is there any good way to avoid traps? My guys kind of have a mind of their own and aren't smart enough to avoid them (well so far at least).

2.) I heard that most of the decisions you make in this game lead to neutral or bad results. So far my noble human has been trying to get along nice with every other character of importance. However, when I see a way to make a quick buck/item I sometimes choose the least diplomatic route regarding npcs that seem relatively unimportant (kennel master and quarter master for instance). In the case of these 2 characters does being a jackass have the better pay off or should I have gone more diplomatic? Does your choices with these seemingly unimportant npcs effect how your partner's think of you? (every single decision you made in mass effect contributed to Paragon or Renegade points for instance). I was wondering if the choices you make in Origins, even to relatively unimportant npcs, add up like in the whole good or evil, paragon or renegade sort of thing like Mass Effect.

buggy? I think its just your PC cuz im having a blast in the game, no bugs here.

Old Republic, Final Fantasy 14 and Guild Wars 2

idiot, that instant revive was a developer command, players wouldnt be able to do that.

The games story is designed for people like you, thats why they set it 300 years after kotor and thousands years before the movies.  Plus you can watch those timeline videos for backstory.

There are indeed many people in the west who lack any sense of imagination. If it doesn't have the generic typical fantasy features they won't touch it. To me, that's not what fantasy is about. I like fantasy because it lets me experience new worlds and settings and yet for some reason many people only want to experience what they are already familar with.
Just look at the huge amount of western mmorpgs that have an already existing IP.

Where did you get this strange idea I hate everything western developers do and I have a love for generic f2p korean games? Unfortunately, you're not the first to say that and probably won't be the last.

I don't hate the creations of western developers, I dislike many of them because of their lack of imagination as far as world settings are concerned. I'm dissapointed that many treat fantasy not as something that is only limited by imagination, but as something that should stick to the things invented by Tolkien and Dungeons and Dragons.

Take The Saga of Ryzom as an example, just look at the setting. Look at how different and unique it looks. Unfortuantely, games like that are the exception, not the rule.

I don't have a love for generic f2p korean games. I don't play those very often. What I am doing is defending them from incorrect claims and stereotypes.

To be perfectly honest, I think you're a bloody fool. Making a good fantasy setting or world isn't about making it magical or unique or even interesting, it's about holding up a mirror to the world, and showing you a face of it you haven't seen before. Eastern games don't do that, or at least don't do that for the Western world, I mean, take a look at Aion.

There's nothing special about Korean games, they're boring, colourful and crappy. Get over it.

Bioware, despite EA making a dog's arse of the publishing and marketing, appear to have created a brilliant setting and a very well designed and polished game. Show me an Eastern game that does that. ( And if you say Aion, I will lol. )

Ofcourse Fantasy setting is about making it magical, unique or interesting. Here, this is the very first definition of Fantasy:

imagination, esp. when extravagant and unrestrained.

Creating the same generic fantasy realm over and over again is not imaginative, especially when the games aren't even set in the same realm. They are not unrestrained either as they are all chained to already existing fantasy cliches.

To compare DE to games like Aion is silly. Aion is an mmorpg, Dragon Age is an offline roleplaying game. Ofcourse there is a bigger focus on world and storytelling in an offline mmorpg. You can say what you want about Aion, at least NCsoft didn't rely on the old orcs and elves or on an already existing IP.

To show you eastern games with much more unique world? For that you need to look no further than Squaresoft games before they merged with Enix.

Take a look at Chrono Cross, Legend of Mana or Final Fantasy X.

Look at the Architecture, the character design and storytelling, look at how different and unique it looks. Final Fantasy X may not be the best Final Fantasy from a gameplay perspective, but in my opinion it is the best one in terms of world and character design. It was a new place with its own look, people and traditions.

We will see when diablo 3 comes out.

I would play tabula rasa if someone brings it back free to play.

I played CB, OB, and head start.

I did not notice many problems at all till OB , and that was just with lag but that was fixed fairly quick.

Over all it was a good polished release I would say but the problem lies in what you are comparing the release to AOC,WAR,darkfall, champions, these where just epic fail releases and the games are just dead, dieing, or starting to fade fast.

Their is something missing from Aion tho you will see other threads and topic's and people post about it.

Best way I can describe it is you go out to dinner and try a new dish you take that first bite and something is just not right it is not bad and it is not good and you can not realy put your finger on what is missing or wrong with it but you do not care for it over all personaly this is the feeling alot of people had with Aion its not that they loved or hated it but they felt something was just not hitting the spot this is how I felt playing and I tried the game 3 diffrent times and all 3 times got my money back.

The problem from me and others was once something is just not sitting or clicking right for you in a game the little things that you would most likely ignore that annoy you start to look bigger then they realy are and go from annoing you to frustrating you to just getting you mad and full of hate over till you run into the straw that broke the camels back syndrome and all these little things now get stacked up into a I hate such and such /rage /rant.

Even if the items you are bringing up are valid and have merit the reason you are really brining them up is for the first reason something just does not feel right and you need to some how put a finger on it, the irony of it all is you realy do not have to have a reason for this some things are just not for you if you do not feel that this is for you hey just move on its not like the next big thing or flavor of the week that everyone is hypeing or has a opinion on is not comming out in X amount of time for you to try just wait and see if that feels more like what you want then this.

I will say this for all I eventualy disliked about Aion I am sorry to hear of the overwhelming number of gold spamers and botters the Aion comunity has to deal with it detracts from a persons abitlity to paly, enjoy, or find out if they like or dislike a game because they have to deal with a out side of real game play or experiance source from the jump hope thet fix it quick and have it removed perminatly.

Using your food analogy i would describe Aion as eating a lobster, while a game like wow is eating Mcdonalds. Aion has risk, is content rich full of great lore, has meaningful strategic Open World PvP, your not hand free epics in this game!. To put it simply im having a blast in Aion and many others are like me since my server is always full.

WoW has more lore than Aion, Aions story and lore is so lame.  Characters are bland too.  What you mean strategic? everyone just fights when they see the other faction just like in WoW. The fortress fights are just a slideshow.  The dungeon designs doesnt look like there was any thought put into it.  Annoying combat animations make combat very unresponsive.  Everyone goes through the exact same quests cuz theres not many content and majority of the quests are just repeatables to make you grind, at least in WoW i can go to a different area and find different quests for the same lvls, same with lotro.  Aion is even more theme park than WoW and lotro imo.

In lotro you have to read otherwise you will end up looking for info online and that takes more time.

not anymore, theres a quest tracker now in the game heh

I dont want them to end up making them look like Aions shit where they are always posing like they are super models or something.  I realy hated the way the asmo males run.

I want to be a Jenova Project race.

I quit the game at lvl 36 cuz of the boring ass grind

its not that exciting.

it will bring 10 times more grinding
