If its not a WOW clone, its a Guild Wars clone. If its not that its an Everquest II clone...

I hear this about every new game... Play a different record people. WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WHAT THIS GAME WILL REALLY BE LIKE!

The game was never meant to be revolutionary.

But It turned out 2 be a solid game that is lots of fun to play with a few nice features that will certainly be copied by the up and coming "Revolutionary" MMO's.

Nice review, balanced and pretty accurate.

I think you will find it has been mentioned plenty of times.

Weve known for about a week so dont moan coz u havent been vigilant, just wait like the rest ov us.

As regarding a password, if you know it is one of a possible few, wait till you have access to login to the patcher and just try entering all the possible passwords. No other way atm coz GOA's website is b****cks.

But atleast we get 7 days extra free now.

Come on dam you! only a few hours of play left!

Need more gametime!

1. Lack of toon customization. Every class at a certain level, say level 11 rune priests look more or less the same. In WoW you can customize your toon with hundreds of different pieces of equipment.

Itemization is not complete.  Whispers even have mentioned that itemization is not fully in beta to keep the armor designs secret until launch.

2. Simple PvE. Vast majority of WAR quests are fedex or kill 4 vampiritic llama type quests. PQ quests are pretty much the same too, kill 3 waves and then kill the boss, loot.

PQs are exactly like raiding in every game out there.  The difference being, you can do them from level one to level 40.  What do you expect from a quest?  Stand and do a little jig and receive exp?  Quests will not changed, EVER, get used to it.

3. WAR has a simple PvP combat system. There's no charge, blink, distract, fear, flare, stealth, etc in WAR. EQ1, a game made in 1990's has as many combat features as WAR. Solid toons are a noticeable WAR innovation.

You listed WoW abilities, of course they are not in WAR.  WAR has stealth (Witch Elf and Witch Hunter), WAR has roots, WAR has stuns.  Are you just mad that you wont be able to stun-lock everything in sight?  Yeah that takes mad skill.

4. No special things. There are no Warglaives in WAR. Nothing to strive for. In WAR, you are a cog in a machine.

Nothing to strive for eh?  What is there to strive for in every MMO out there?  Get to end game, get gear, raid keeps.  Thats WARs end game, if you don't like it, don't play it.

5. Unimaginative combat. You'll mostly spam your damage spell or spam your healing spell, nothing else to do.

What do you do in WoW?  You click the same bloody button as fast as you can to queue it asap after the GCD is up.

The only thing going for WAR is the large scale combat. I'm waiting to see if the large scale combat is worth a subscrition to WAR. If large scale combat turns out to be a zerg fest with no strategy, just a bunch of people swarming around and the side with the most people wins, there won't be a reason to play WAR other than it's not WoW.

The Zerg will be detroyed by any organized guild.  Zerging will work against a smaller zerg, it will not work against an organized Warband.

Sweet post man.

Darkfall? There is no Darkfall here. Move along, move along.

HINT*

Well I hope that people in beta are going on the beta forums and nagging about the current class imbalance so that I can be rectified before release

HINT*

errrrr, QUESTION!

Has anyone on this thread, (which is in the WoW forum), acctually supported or agreed with the OP?

If your blown away by this video then you truely must be very easy to impress

Oooooo look! A shiney new smiley!  OMG!

Oh wait, its really just a poor remake made with little imagination of what they already had in a desperate bid to keep things fresh.

In no way will this be ground breaking, or imaginative.

Paul is a genius!

I was beginning to take an interest into tis game and after doing some research, which is suprisingly very hard for this game considering that it is supposed to be release late this year.

I then found out that there are only going to be seven classes! Archaeologist, Asgard, Goa'uld, Jaffa, Scientist, Soldier and Commando. Four of them are for the human race as well, all the others have just a single class.

I feel that for a verging on next generation game there should at least be more imagination in some classes and a little more variety. I hope that this is changed and more classes are added, as this game to me was looking very promising.

runescape isnt a sandbox mmo, it has servers.....

Define 'Sandbox mmo' then. Seriously, im a little confused. Every1 always goes on about a sandbox mmo, but what exactly does that entail. And does it have 2 be server free?

I was recently reading one of the Q&As on this game. From what I've collected its going to be a story driven MMO with limited PvP and almost no economy. I even read that they were concidering not even adding a monitary system to the game.

I really need to find a Sandbox MMO with a player driven economy and good pvp.

Guess SGW wont be it.

Great! then i won't see you in the game.

Story driven MMO with limited PvP is exactly what I am looking for.

If yur loking for a story driven mmo with limited PvP, have you tried LOTRO? Fits that description completely. Give it a trail, if u havent already.

What do you think to having a character leveling system like in Final Fantasy 10 with its sphere grid system. As you defeat monsters/fiends you obtain the ability to move further along an intricate grid system activating parts of it as you go along it which upgrades your stats and skills. Each character has a set path, but you may choose to ignore this suggested path and vear off the path and head for skills and upgrades meant for other characters/classes. Each path gives upgrades heavily in stats to the class which the path is suited for, allowing any character to pursue any given career path.

This allows you to customise your character to your desire whilst still retaining an optimum path as an option. Of course your charcter will start with stats which favour a certain path, to still give rangers advantages at range and warriors advantage in melee, if they choose to follow their suggested path.

Has this been done in an MMO before?

You just made my day! This should keep me busy until WAR.

Just found these on the games workshop website. Good for a laugh. Post your names here!

Check out Greasus tribestealer drakecrush Hoardemaster Goldtooth the Shockingly Obese on the orge page!

My names are Skitture the Deadly, Ankhali of the Jungles of Despair and Turghark Gobsmasher.

Remember, you have to pick 2. One for order and one for destruction.

Lizardmen and skaven have a bitter relationship so i pick those 2.

Lizardmen for order, skaven for destruction.

Like they sucked the life out of DAoC? Simple question. I haven't followed the game so much, accept to say that it looks and sounds like WoW 2.0. (though yes, I know, Warcraft is basicly a strait rip of warhammer and almost always has been.)

Seriously.. Mythic spent the last 5ish years sucking the life out of it's players by changing the game so much, so often, half the time I didn't know if I was comming or going. I played DAoC off and on for about 3 years.. usually in 2 month spans. It'd take that long for me to go 'yea I'll give it another shot' to 'Mythic I hate your guts I'm never playing one of your games another day in my life.' Then I'd hear of a change, sometimes that didn't completely rewrite a class or nerf the crap out of it.. years after release.. for the 10th time.. to the point where at it now plays SO differently from when it first came out, that you might as well call it something else.

Yes.. Mythic jaded me. No other company has EVER done that (save one.) I've been MMOG gaming for 7 years now and I'm really just laid back and enjoy myself. I'm not a troll, often I'm a boarderline fanboi lol. I like change, even when change isn't so good (my /regen scrapper in CoH has been nerfed at least 3 times now, but I still enjoy it, even if it's no longer as uber :p).

But man it took me just a few months to really get jaded by Mythic. I'd give them another chance and they'd throw it in my face. Seemed like every 6 months they'd take a class archetype (3 very similar classes in each realm) and change it so drasticly that you almost had to relearn your class and it's roll. On top of that.. I am Irish and I played Hibernia (Ireland).. and it so drasticly did NOT even come close to a mythological ireland.. and was so CLEARLY the last realm done.. that it turned me off almost instantly.

Anyway, I'm carying on here. Who says Mythic will or has changed? What can anyone say to me that will encourage me to give this game the time of day when right now I'm so jaded by Mythic I almost feel like blocking the word in my browser so that I can never go to any website with their name on it :p (ok maybe not that bad.. but you get the point.)

Right now the only MMOG I'm really looking forward to is Age of Conan and as far as I've seen, it's gonna kick serious arse and I have no need what so ever to look at this game. Yet it seems to have more hype, but a small margin. I keep hearing this game is mostly supported by former WoW players.. and we all know how great THAT games community is :p

Anyway, I dont mean to flame. This is an honest post and question. Why should I give Mythic my money.. let alone the time of day.

Fion, how many flame bait, trolling posts do you have to make exactly. Everyones getting tired of yur act. Wait until the game is released and you have tried it before you voice inaccurate and asuming posts, because we dont no what the game is like yet so stop stirring up trouble.

Well, I dont like.. rather, I detest the style of graphics in WoW! (I know its a good game) because I hate the way it turns my favorite past time (AD&D style fantasy) into a cartoon.. a joke.. I feel blizzard have just ripped off an idea and made into a cartoon to appeal to all the kids out there.  They do a very good job of this.  I would love to be involved in a game which is as succesfull as WoW so long as it didnt have cartoony graphics!

WAR Looks like it will have exactly the same style of graphics!

just to clarify for you. WAR will have the cartoon style graphics. The reason is because of the tabletop game. Have you even seen the tabletop paint and play models. The graphics and based around the models art style which has a cartoonish look. The tabletop game has been around for over 20 years. WoW saw the art style and used it for their game as they took many things from other sources.

just thought id clear that up for you. For this reason, that they are staying true to the warhammer tabletop game and its creator 'Games Workshop', the graphics are justified.

I have read those novels btw. i'm quite sure that any other mmo doesn't have that good complexed lore. Wow has the best lore i've ever seen.

You should see how big and complex the warhammer and warhammer 40000 lore is. Far superior to any mmo. Its been developed for over 20 years.
