The devs on this game should have waited longer before allowing the public to test the game. I downloaded and installed it the other day. The patcher took forever to update the game and once I got in the game. There was nothing to test, no quests and no creature or NPCs to attack. Plus when I walked into a body of water. I started walking on top of the water, like I was Jesus of Nazareth. I know they are in very very early testing, but no one outside of their office should have ever seen the game this way.

APB announced game will be F2P

Got a link for that?  Not saying you're wrong, but the latest interview I read with Dave Jones indicated they're still mulling various payment models and the final decision will likely not be made anytime soon.

Last I heard APB was going to be B2P (Buy to Play), just like Guild Wars.

Found this bit of info at the APB website:

http://www.apb.com/faq/

How much will APB cost?

The actual price for the game itself is still under discussion but we’ll keep you up to date. We can confirm that APB will not require a monthly subscription.

Its not a bad game (I played it in the Acclaim closed beta.), but I did see this coming from a mile away. I even said that Spellborn would go F2P within a year on the Acclaim forums back in January of this year  and got my thread deleted by a Mod, lol.

Meh Aion is good but I don't see it holding that very long... SWTOR and FFXIV will bury it when they are out.

I totally agree. I know I'll be playing SWTOR, when it comes out. Its the only game, I'm really excited about.

Eh, that really isn't saying much in my opinion. In regards to the triple A mmo's out there the subscription numbers in comparison to WoW is rather pedistrian so gaining the #2 foothold is not a difficult feat to accomplish. I believe Aion will be able to capture this at the present time but still a distant #2 at this point. In 2010 who knows what will happen since there are a number of heavily awaited MMO's that should be released then. I'm just hoping this gaming genre picks up and we get more selection of good polished games to play.

Which is why I also asked the question -- does #2 only mean a distant second, or do you think Aion can approach WoW-like numbers?

Free Realms has 3 or 4 million and Battlefield Heroes a while back hit 1 millions. So really anything is possible. Of course the two I mentioned are free to play games, but players are players. Regardless if they pay tor a sub for a game or not.

Plus Aion looks like it should be a F2P game anyway. I'd say it would go F2P like Spellborn is, but NCSOFT would ratherl kill a game before it would even go F2P(For example: Tabula Rasa.).

I didn't start this thread to create an argument. I started it to see who uses PCs, who uses consoles, and who uses both. Not to say one is better than the other. Maybe putting "vs." in the thread title was a bad idea. Maybe I should have just put  something like"Do you use a PC or a Console for Gaming?".  I don't know, sometime I wonder why I even bother visiting any forums anymore. Seems like hardly anyone can have a mature conversation anymore. So please lets keep it civil, or I'll ask a mod to delete the thread. Thank you in advance.

I played EVE once for a hour, but fell asleep after 5 minutes. You figure that one out. :D

Oh man you shouldn't have done that. Now one of the Eve fanboys will insult your mental capacity and put you on ignore!

I don't care, the game is boring. Doesn't take a high mental capacity to figure that out. Plus I was sorta joking anyway, well more being sarcastic. Even Casey Schreiner from G4TV.com's The MMO Report, yawns a lot by just taking about the game on his webcast and he has to talk about it. Lol.

G4 got to talk to none other than Kevin Conroy (The voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne from Batman: The Animated Series) at the San Diego Comic Con. About him once again playing the voice of Batman, in upcoming video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. If your a fan of Batman:TAS or just a Batman fan in general? This is quite a fun interview to watch with this legendary voice over actor. Sorry I geeked out there a little, lol.

Although I loathe to admit it, my first computer was a  Heathkit H-8.  I built it myself in '77.

Sigh, excuse me while I go count my wrinkles again, lol.

WOW, that was a year before I was born. I was born in Feb. of '78.

I'd love to see Pirates of the Caribbean Online taken out of Disney's hands and remade. I love the movies, great stories, great characters, but that MMO seriously sucks noodles (Among other things.).

How about a "The Princess Bride" MMORPG? For those who may not know its a book and it was made in to a movie back in the 80's. There was a pirate in the movie and mentioned other pirates as well. I'd say more, but I would want to ruin the book or movie. For someone who hasn't seen it before. It would be a nice balance between action, adventure, fantasy, and comedy.

So which platform do you use most for gaming? Are you hardcore PC? Hardcore console? Or are you a little bit of both?

Personally I'm sorta a little bit of both. When it comes to MMOs and most online games, I go for the PC. Although when it comes to most offline games and some online mulitplayer modes, I go for my XBOX 360. I try to balance it as much as I can.

Nothing except MMOs. For me offline games are for my XBOX 360 and my PC is for online gaming.

Yeah, she's hot.  Who's Chun-Li?

Oh my! Don't tell me you have never heard of a little video game franchise called Street Fighter from Capcom. LOL, if you haven't. The franchise has been around since 1987. Chun-Li has been a playable character since Street Fighter 2.

Commodore VIC 20. Had to type the games in manually out of a book, and then spend another hour debugging them.

No, I'm not kidding.

I was stoked to upgrade to a C64 eventually....with a tape drive (Press "Play" On Tape 1). From there, I upgraded the C64 with a 5 1/4" disk drive, a mouse, multiple controllers of course, PC Geos (early pre-DOS OS), a 300bps modem, and a tiny hard disk drive.

And played the fuck out of Wasteland, and a bunch of good old-school games. I also began my internet trolling career, on the local college BBS.

From there, an IBM PS2 (Mean Streets, Space Quest, etc)....and the rest is history.

PC gamer for LIFE!

I typed a few games out of 3-2-1 Contact the kid's science magazine, for my C64.  Most fo them weren't that great. I remember once, one was a simple bowling game. Its was fun to do though, cause for a time I wanted to grow up to be a computer programmer.

Mass Effect 2 all the way. Mass Effect brought together my  favorite genres, third-person shooters and RPGs.  I can't stand-turn based games, so I stay away from most RPGs. Although I did play KOTOR 1 and 2, but only for the storylines and what you could do with the stories. Also can't wait for Star Wars: the Old Republic. Dragon Age looks alright, but I think I'd just rent it first.

My first PC was 8086, it looked pretty much like the computer above, but was a clone, not IBM. My father's first PC, that I also used was even older and was Wyse brand.

I never owned Vic 20 or Commodore 64, but I did have:

I had that very same Atari 2600. You should check out my "What was your very first console ever?" thread.

Commodore 64? That's high-tech man! I started with a "Timex Sinclair"...heh assuming you don't count the one my brother built with parts from radio shack...but that really didn't do much either.

Punchcards forever!

I've heard of the Timex Sinclair. My Dad had one, before I was born. I was born in 1978, so it was sometime before then. Lol.

My C64 wasn't to high tech at first. We were using data cassettes, that looked like audio cassettes. Then we stepped up a floppy drive. That took the big old 5 inch floppy, but compared to the Sinclair. I guess it was high tech.

My first PC, which I was technically the family PC. Not just my own, but it was a Commodore 64. Which was quite a good gaming PC, back in the 80's.  I remimer I used to play B.C.: Quest for Tires,  Back to the Future movie game, Batman: The Caped Crusader, and Fleet Feet, Zaxxon, Karateka , Underwurlde and others. How about you guys, what was your first PC?
