Star Trek: Infinite Space: In-Game Battle Footage Trailers Released
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/18/11 9:10:23 AM
That combat is uninspiring. If I want to play a Star Trek game, I want to be inside the bridge of a ship during combat. Not outside like that. I want to have my avatar sitting in the captain's chair and I press different keyboard commands. My avatar should call out commands to the crew of the ship. This kind of space battle is boring. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: For Better or Worse
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/05/11 3:05:08 PM
I know some of you will knock what I'm about to say, but I don't care. Star Wars: The Old Republic is the MMORPG that I have always wanted to play. Back in 2004 I started to play my very first MMO (Which was a sandbox game) called Star Wars Galaxies. When I heard you could play as a Wookiee and live in the Star Wars Galaxy. I jumped in head first, but when played then and up until I left the game in early 2008. I always had ideas of what I thought would make SWG better. The CU was it and nor was the NGE, to tell the truth I didn't even care for the pre-cu. Alas I played on because it was Star Wars and it was an MMO filled with people to play with. Well with all that said, here comes the kicker. All the ideas I had playing SWG. All the I wonder if and I wish this, questions I was asking in my head about making SWG beter. Seem to be what Bioware is developing TOR in to. Its like they were in my mind while I was playing SWG and now they are making a game I thought SWG was going to be and what I hoped it would become, but didn't. So in short, no. TOR will not be for everyone, its going to be a game for the Star Wars fan, that wants to live out those childhoood movie fantasies. Its been a long time since I first saw the first Star Wars movie in 1985 (I was 7 years old.) on an old VHS cassette that I borrowed from my local library, but this 33 year old man still gets those fantasies at times. Just like that 7 year old so very long ago. That boys and girls is who TOR is being made for. Not just gamers, not just MMORPG fans, but for the Star Wars fan. Which a Star Wars fan can be a gamer and a MMORPG fan as well. |

Its runs on the Kalydo Player. Which is a web app that runs everything server side, even the graphics. Kalydo's next venture is bringing Runes of Magic to Facebook using the same technology. |

I think The Agency will have its place for the target audience. I for one will be playing Star Wars: The Old Republic. Oh and to all the people that say that people go back to WOW. I tried WOW twice now, two 14 day trials and didn't care for it at all. Second time I was hoping it had gotten better, but it didn't. Although WOW is great for its target audience. I think thats what devs and publishers need to get in their head. Don't be or beat WOW, just be your own thing for a certain target audience. If you fail, you fail. At least at the end of the day, you can say you didn't try to copy another game. |

PVP in your face? That camera is a thousand miles away from the action. Can't stand games with this kinda camera angle. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Warzones & Crafting Information
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/05/10 8:59:05 AM

What does this quiz prove..........RPGs pen & paper, table-top, or other wise don't make good MMORPG IPs. Well I guess that only goes for Champions Online, Dungeons and Drangons Online , and Warhammer Online. Lol. Only game in this quiz I like is The Lord of Rings Online. Only because it has an amazing IP and the other games can't complete with a literary master like JRR Tolkien. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Things SWTOR Isn't
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/24/10 10:19:26 PM
I totally agree with the author. With that said though, this game seem to be going in a good direction for me at least. A lot of the ideas going into this game are ideas that I've had in the past. Ideas I had while playing Star Wars Galaxies that just would have never worked in SWG. Things that would make for a great Star Wars MMO in my opinion. Of course I am only going by what has been said by Boware themselves. Which I highly respect the company. I hated most RPGs until I played KotOR 1, which was the first RPG I ever liked completely. I just didn't care for the combat system, but the storyline mechanics is what kept me play and lead me to play KotOR 2 and try other Bioware RPGs. Such as Mass Effect 1 and 2. Which are my favorite RPGs of all-time. I know its early to call SW: TOR, but its the first MMO since SWG to get me excited to play an MMO again. And not just because its Star Wars, but honestly an IP always helps for me. As for it revolutionizing the industry and the genre. I think it has a very good chance at doing both, but again it might not.Yet as I said I think it has a good chance, which is my own opinion based on the track record of Bioware. We will all see when either open beta starts or at game launch whats, what. Say anything for sure now doesn't matter, but everyone is free to have their own opinions. At least here in the United States. :) |

Fallen Earth: Combat Revamp Arrives on PTS

You's think people would learn from others mistakes. Star Wars Galaxies did the very same thing years ago. Which they still haven't recovered from the fallout. |

Star Wars Galaxies: October Producer's Letter
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/05/10 6:43:03 PM
I'm waiting to hear the words Free to Play. That should have been announced in this letter. EQ2 is already F2P and Pirates of the Burning Sea is on its way to being F2P. Why not SWG? |

Originally posted by liberalguy NGE=Not Good Enough? If it wasn't for the CU or the NGE, I wouldn't have played SWG as long as I did. Which I played the game between June 2004 through May 2008. I only stopped because evevn their new content always felt like.........been there, done that. Just new story and new NPC boss. But I would go back SWG, if it was free to play. SWG is the reason I started playing MMOs. I didn't even know what a MMO was before SWG and I've been playing PC and console video games since 1983, when I was 5 years old. I had an Atari 2600 and a Commodore 64. So I've been gaming awhile, but I just didn't take notice of the MMO genre til SWG was announced. |

Never like many fantasy settings. I never like WOW, DDO or Everquest 1 or 2, but I do like LotRO and only because I like the books and the movies. I'm big on IPs, I normally only try the MMOs that are based on IPs. |
