Guild Wars did just fine testing their hardware during preview events -- intensive testing with a core group of people and then high pressure testing during events. Plus it's not like NCSoft is a new company. Just because most games these days suck doesn't mean they all will suck forever. |

Awesome
perhaps they did learn something from all the people playing on private servers with increased XP gains. It really is a fun game when you get into the PvP, I might have to give it another try soon. Odd they would do this so close to the release of Aion, which promised not to be a grinder. |

Yeah, "ganking the gankers" is one of my favorite activities. It just seems they will have to be of a different race in a specific area. Can't wait for this game... |

I voted Templar, but Glad and Chanter seem really cool as well. Those templars look so helpless in PvP (so far), poor little fellas. That and I'm not totally excited about the ranger and his seemingly ability to jump/cast, jump/shoot....otherwise it would be ranger all the way.... that's my 3 cents. |

Guild Wars, yeah. Relatively low grind, good story arc, decent graphics, healers are very important, gear only matters so much... pretty much what you are looking for. Would be expensive to jump into at this point (one negative to expansions rather than monthly) Was a great game when I played it years ago... Dark Age o Camelot is older but it has some decent healing class type stuff going on, graphics aren't the best. Lineage 2 has powerful healers...but you said no grind so pbbtt on that. AC2 had fun healers...oh wait...
Luck! |

Not THE next great game, but it will be A great game to play. It really doesn't offer to much in the way of ground breaking game play (neither did WoW really--it was a game that millions were already playing in non-MMO form) Although flying is cool, it isn't enough to be the next great game. The skills and classes are nothing new and the idea behind the game is really nothing new. They even said that themselves when they referred to creating a game that players will fit into relatively easily. I have no doubt this game will be lots of fun and provide some great PvP experiences. Wonderful graphics, smooth game play .. yes. It's the only game I am looking forward to, but I don't see it as being one of the best of all time. Maybe they will prove me wrong, but not from what I have seen. |

It is theft. Theft of the original game code and theft of potential players. They have every right to go after these other servers. It does show you a few things. One, that there are a lot of people that like to play L2, just not the specific way (mostly grind and difficulty of obtaining items). It is a good game, runs smooth, fun classes, great graphics for a 4 year old game. Another, is that people don't care much for the botters, they would much rather play on a server where everything is easier to buy and adena (in game money) is easier to earn. 15 bucks a month for a game that takes years ( or at least a poo-load of hours) to get a high level? Perhaps NCsoft should attack the botters and cheaters as hard as they are attacking these private servers. |

Switch to hot coffee and porn? i dunno... Um.... There are some decent single player games out there now that don't require much time (in one sitting) at all. There is a decent world outside to explore and adventure in, you could give that a shot... |

I don't think that we expect to much from an MMO, when we become apathetic and take what ever is given to us then it is at that point that companies take advantage of the consumer. The consumer should never settle for "whatever". We should always demand more and better. We should only give our money to that which we really feel is worth while. Rewarding those that have worked for us and punishing those that release crap just for the hopes of snagging a lot of "pre-order" dollars. Of course playing with your friends is fun, that's what friends are for. If you hated hanging out with them then they probably wouldn't be your friends.

Heh, AC2 was a disaster (although a fun one) right from the get-go. Better just let that one sleep. "Removing Barriers for the User – Turbine wants to make their games as user-friendly as possible, and point toward a desire to keep the game clients as streamlined as possible as something that they have been working hard to accomplish." I think maybe AC doesn't fit into this belief, therefor let's not mention it. Seeing as there are 8 year old bugs in the game. Ride that LOTRO wave Turbine! Hope it lasts forever. |

Well, most games these days spoon feed you all the information that you might need. Heck you don't even have to look for NPCs anymore -- there is a giant flashing symbol over their heads if they need to tell you something. I will use AC as an example, because I was there in the beginning. When that game started out you had no idea what you were doing. This of course led to many mistakes on character development and rerolling to fix what you thought might be broken. Heck, they didn't even tell you how to cast War magic. You had to figure out the spell-comps on your own and test fire them until you got it right. Asherons Call has since turned to the spoon fed style of play and it is far-far easier than it once was. It also has 8 Years of development under its belt. I still play it from time to time. It isn't nearly as intelligent in design anymore, but still entertaining. Absolutely graphics are better, technology is better, not the game itself. Look at a computer from 10 years ago, back when a 1mb video card was nice. Or before that when 8 bit video cards were the size of a shoe box top. So the turd games keep getting prettier, woot -- now we have pretty turds. There is a LOT of money in gaming these days, billions of dollars. Slapping together a game and selling it for a profit is more the objective than building something that will stand for 10 or more years. That's my 2 cents (before taxes) |
