As this was about the personal story, what are you guys complaining about.

given, its not that clear from the Manifesto video, but ArenaNEt went out puplic to clear it out, just after they released it. So i will call it ignorant to stay stucked in that. And who in their right mind would want permanent changes in the dynamic part of a game ??

 

I blame it on GW2 fans who just couldn't zip it. In order to hype the game they twisted a lot of things said by Anet. This is just one of many example. Other two i remember are 3500 unique events and i never ever found one credible source of this info. I forgot count how many times i read this.

Another example is gear means nothing in PVP and low level player  is on same footing as lvl 80. But now we know it is not true and gear and level does matter. Later on the excuse was..we were just talking about SPVP. Right!!

I don't blame ANET, it is the fans who know no bounds when praising GW2 to ninth heaven...twisting the facts and making their own version of what Anet said.

u can only give part of the blame to the fans.anet made many cocky n even arrogant statements  (i saw a bunch of on massivly) and their manifesto vid is full of lies and 2 millions fell for it.

its same old basicly..telling lies to sell your product.. well same old for companys that have to go to such lengths

cataclysm was great addon ..just short..diablo 3 i agree i quit it after 2 weeks cause i saw now more motivatio after reaching inferno and blizzard did admitt they made a mistake with D3.

but dont bash on a WoW and catacysm. maybe u didnt like it but everyone i know had a great time playing it for ages.

oh and as it looks right now MoP will be the best addon sofar so no blizzard didnt loose its touch..all their games are a huge sucess in sales and the players love em..even i love D3 because i gor over 80 hours of gametime out of a 45€ game!

Fact is: Blizzard is just BOSS at what they do.

in every thread ppl always keep stressing how GW2 has the buy2play thing going for it!

if you take that away it  has nothing special and is just another game that will go f2p within a year.

there are far better p2p games out there everyone knows that.

dont be fooled u know how it really is. the 1 time buy always free to play is what hyped gw2 most..

That should tell you units sold equals jack until the concurent users numbers show up. (and that of is where things turn a bit more bleak for WoW.) d3 vs gw2 sales is good ..and oh yeah i still play it and so is everyone of my friends..maybe u dont know but diablo was never a game u play non stop. it was alwaays a game u coem back to and play for few hours.. a backup game for fun in short bursts so to say.

also we arent here talking if the game is a success for the players..we are talking about success as in sales and i predict GW2 will not reach GW 1 sales ever simply because the market was almost EMPTY when GW1 was released and i myself stuck with it for many many years (also playing wow at same time).

i mean look at all the MMO releases in 2012 !! its CRAZY how many good new games are coming out and NONE of them will hold the playerbase for long.

2012 is simply a awesome year for the gamer but a very bad year for publishers and developers.

for ANETs purposes, a sub makes no sense for GW1 or GW2

 

worth noting, GW1 did not have a cash store until summer 2006 -- over a year after game launched

ANET added a free PVE content update, Sorrows Furnace, 5 months after launch Sept 2005

GW2 can't possibly survive on GW1's model. That's why it had already been altered to a degree.

i rather pay a monthly fee cause i hate cashshop especially if they sell non consmetical items in a b2p or p2p game..which gw2 does. 12€ is nothing for me. i earn good  and when i play a mmorpg i want to have all the items there are availible for me to get through progress (wow has a shop but its pets n mounts n shit) and not to buy with money..that is a huge turnoff and the reason why i decided not to sub TSW  even tho i liked it quite abit after first 2 beta events.

more and more games doing this but that doesnt mean i have to like it :)

They are indirectly calling companies like Trion irresponsible? even though they churn out content faster than any other MMO since AC. I would say Trion is also very responsible company. Anet is lumping everyone together into one group by making statement like that.

i dont think they are aiming at Trion with that statement. Trion is actively adding free content updates to the game. The only difference is that Rift has a sub. I think Colins statement fits all mmos that charge for all content updates or lock players until they pay (hybrid freemium models) and TSW with its ridiculous "insert your moneys here" anywhere you look. IMO
