Sounds like they are 'trimming the fat' to get it out the door. |

The SWTOR (BW) alignment system
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/03/11 5:28:03 PM
There is a HUGE flaw in this systems design. That is because you are aware of wether you are choosing something that gives you light or dark side points. Choosing one gets you closer to that goal to get whatever gear you want. What if the question you would have really answered didn't give you the points you wanted? Most are going to go for the gear 'points' and as such negate the choices the game presents you with, which in turn negates SWTOR's whole unique story thing.

How do they plan on making money? Cleary some sort of cash shop I'm sure, however will items you buy be cosmetic or make you more powerful? |

Poll should Ghostcrawler be sacked over MOP ?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 11/01/11 8:40:04 PM
Has anyone actually played the finished product here? This seems like a poll for after it's released, not when it's announced. .. and yes panda's are kinda lame, but so are talking cows and goats from space. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Voidstar Trailer

Looking pretty clunky... maybe turning up the Star Wars tunes up louder will help... cause that's the only think I see here going for it. |

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Reactions
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/31/11 9:23:44 AM
""The focus of the show was entirely on the new race and the new class (both of which are surprisingly fun and gorgeous looking, by the way).""
Did you line up and play them? Myself and a buddy were through the WoW Blizzcon line in 5 mins (where D3 was hours long) and left the game before we needed to. Not sure what you could have thought was fun with only a couple skills at your disposal, which didn't work 100%, while rolling around mob to mob as a big fluffy ball. They need to, without question, make them look much less like the stuffed versions you might see on a little kids bed. Total downer of Blizzcon 2011, thankfully SC2 and D3 picked up the slack. |

I did a quick calculation and posted the math on here a while ago for the monk.. it was somewhere in the 500,000,000,000 range. What they are doing is having people make their own choices now, at least more so then what you currently see in WoW (changed in next expac) and what you saw in D2. Detach yourself from the 'tree' mentality and understand the concept before blowing it off as them trying to make it easier on themselves. |

General: Wizardry Online Seeking NA Publishing Partners
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/17/11 2:59:53 PM
Although not an MMO really, Hardcore mode in D2 was the only way to go once you tried it. You totally played your game differently, spec'd differently etc. How it will actually work here, who knows. What I do know is you will play the game a whole lot different then you would WoW, SWTOR etc, which is a good thing. I think hardcore play makes the game more about the journey, rather then the destination. |

I think this is pretty brilliant actually.. give us geeks something pretty cool with all the money going to charity. Win Win. |

TERA: Producer's Letter Talks NA Testing Schedule
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/11/11 8:00:53 AM
So because it didn't do well in Asia, people won't play it? Really? I have this thing called 'a mind of my own' and I'll decide if the game is fun, not some other part of the world I've never been to. That being said, TERA has actually gotten some praise from people playing it at game shows and such (look it up). As well, wether it's your thing or not, it is bringing some different ideas to the MMO landscape. Will they work? I don't know, but I'm definately going to decide that myself. |

Rift: Serious WoW Competitor & Unafraid of SWTOR
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/07/11 4:31:39 PM
Rift was a filler game from people who were bored for WoW, which I do think SWTOR will be to a large extent as well. People are chomping at the bit for something new, which neither is really providing. |

Tap Repeatedly impressions on SWTOR
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/06/11 12:58:33 PM
It IS very much like WoW. 100% the same? No. However...
Who makes a butt load of money off WoW? Blizzard. Who wants a peice of it? EA.
How do you do that? Make WoW, reskinned and a bit different. Rift is doing ok by that formula. EA wants more, so you slap on Star Wars and milk the BioWare 'RPG' element and voila.
That isn't to say it's not a fun game, but anyone who is expecting a different game (at its core) then WoW is going to be up for disappointment. |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/04/11 3:35:59 PM
Got a tester invite, not a beta though. I was part of the first round of testers so.... they said they were giving us another chance. My buddy whom wasn't part of the first round got in the second round however.
Again, just tester weekend stuff. |

What did you expect BioWare to say? EA bought BioWare largely for their name, and paid something like 700 million for it. You think EA are just going to sit back after making an investment like that and let them run their own show without any sort of input/leesh? Not saying BioWare doesn't have some say, but at the end of the day, EA OWNS BioWare, and can make any call they want.
EDIT: Including telling BioWare people what to say in interviews ;) |

Dialogue choices affect alignment, which affects stats...
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/03/11 1:36:19 PM
From what I've seen the Dark / Light side points idea is a failed system. For a game that prides itself on personal choices, you are actually forced to choose answers to questions because you want more points in one of the sides, not because it's what you would have chosen. |

Not to sound like a dick to the poster two above me, but if you want people to read your stuff after you put all that effort into it, you need more newlines and please put spaces after your punctuation. |
