Aion's hype has decreased every single time it hits beta, while people were playing the game, and increased steadily the days after it closed, once people had free time. It's been like this since CBT1. Wonder why. |

Aion Similarities to World of Warcraft - No Flaming, Please.
General Discussion « Aion 9/07/09 2:32:28 AM
I think the similarities are minor in the long term (excepting it being faction based). Most of the things WoW did/copied are now standard of the MMORPG genre, you can just check out betaboards to see how people complain every time something is not like in WoW, Aion copied those things indeed, but minor details such as where your HP/MP is displayed don't make a game, core features do, and that's where Aion and wow differ. |

It didn't happen anything, Aion's community is (mostly) mature enough to understand that WoW can't be killed. Most of the "wow killer" posts were made by threatened blizzard fanboys in fact, as it was something that was repeated over and over for previous releases last year, and now they use it as mockery.
Cheers! |

Originally posted by Zorndorf Dude those are the stats of the ASIAN version. Those are the stats of the MILLIONS of play in Asia during ONE FULL year.
Those are the ammount of current Abyss points at the moment. That chart, if anything, shows most Koreans are assassins, which we already knew due to their 1.0 OPness. Nowadays Assassins are pretty balanced, and even a bit gimp in certain situations. My guild, after playing this game for almost a year, has decided to go with only 1 assassin in our 24 men setup for the european release, that should tell you something. Abyss points are spent in stuff you buy, if I had 900k AP, I'd lead the chart, if I bought a level 50 abyss bow, I'd be at the bottom. Gotta love how every post you make trying to diss Aion turns against you because you fail at comprehending what you're reading. |

That's not a "top" chart, its the one of who spent less AP, as almost nobody has complete abyss sets yet. Good try tho. |

They are using test server's build, 1.5.03, I also had this same issues in Korea with windows 7 64 (at least the one that states you're using illegal software) but they were fixed already. Just wait till NCwest gets the latest gg patch. www.areyouhellbound.com/forum/showthread.php You can see me talking about it like 1 month ago. |

You have no clue, seriously. During a chase, you could either follow footsteps or take shortcuts/try to figure out oponents next steps.
Who is going to be more efficient? A guy who, at the same speedrate, follows the footsteps of his enemy? or a guy who guesses where his enemy is going to move to, taking shortcuts to that zone? Your experience in pvp seems quite limited if you can't see how autofollow is not something skilled players will use.
I'll even refer to my guild's Aion video, Im Flv, in the intro of my character, do you think that I could have managed to do the ice chain if I was autofollowing? |

Try to catch kiting people with autofollow before putting it down. To be a PvPer you seem to be a really terrible theorycrafter if you "guessed" autofollow has any impact on this game's pvp. |

Personal stores are stupid and a pain in the ass in the long run, end of story... You just watch when they'll take over the towns and capital cities... Not mentionning the gold farmers that will be in the bunch too...
For the old timers here that played Ragnarok Online: you know what I'm talking about...
That doesnt happen in Aion, the game is well optimized, they made it so if your computer is slow it will only hide characters until they are loaded, instead of trying to load before letting you move. There are videos of PvP with hundreds and hundreds of players on each side, the guy sees a swarm of names, few characters are loaded on his screen, and he can move perfectly around the world targeting and throwing his AoEs without slowing down while the rest of textures keep loading. Shall we say there is no problem with personal shops, then? |

Your group doesnt automaticaly switch channel once you do, you have to tell them where you're heading, choosing the channel is easy, you say "I go to channel 7" and they follow you there without any problem. As they said before, those channels are only there for the initial rush, in Korea, they already took them away in most servers. This is only to guarantee people won't lack quest mobs and what not, instead of having multiple cities, which is, imho, a con. But then again, the first 19 levels are 12 hours of hardcore leveling, so no biggie. In areas with rifts, there are no channels at all, so hiding is impossible. |

I doubt people are hating on tor for not being a 100% sandbox, in my case, I dislike the way tor went because it seems to be taking away a lot from the MMO part of MMORPG, they seem to be focusing on story telling instead of ways to interact with the other players and the world. This leads to believe the endgame isn't going to be the strong part of the game, and also, it seems to leave guilds behind, at least, nothing they've advertised seems to catter guilds and thats huge for me and many others. I dont care about no classes or no levels like most sandboxers do, but a little bit of interactivity, specially guild wise, would turn me interested in this game...as it is now...nope. |

I dont think you'll see many endgame Aion players stating it's linear. Not more than most games at least. Cant believe how many self called experienced gamers judge a game by its tutorial area. One of the things experience should have taught them is not to judge a book by its cover. |

Aion has group quests, which, imho, beat the crap out of PQs in terms of challenge and overall entertainment. Thing with warhammer is that all of the sudden, everyone was your friend, even that douche who would just jump in the middle of the PQ was rewarded for your work. I prefer communities when they stablish themselves, instead of having the game do that for you. |

Heh, you make a good point Ephimero-or should i say LIVVY! :D It's true, Ive only played to 24(spiritmaster) in beta and 26/22(Gladiator/spiritamaster) in Korean retail. So no, I havent fully experienced the game, but my understanding is that quest content is much heavier in general throughout the game when compared to other "Korean Grinders" , if less then that of WoW. It is also my understanding that Aion will release live with additional quests via 1.1/1.2/1.5 patches. As for me "puffing myself up", indeed, I am VERY frustrated with what I am seeing from the online AION community. In game isnt so bad, but what many times people see as the face of a game is its online(forum) community, and having ignorant posters posting dumb things is not acceptable. Now, you have stated that most "fanboys" already know this. Call it masachism, but I like reading troll threads just because it makes me frustrated and want to tear my hair out(sometimes). The trolls are bad enough, but when AION fans, flock to a thread saying stupid things that are blatantly incorrect, that's even worse, and makes everyone look horrible(except for the troll). People saying "CRYengine the engine in CRYSIS! Aion has the best GFX in the world!" "Aion IS better then WoW because blah blah this and blah blah that" "AION has unrestricted PvP, and flight" "AION 's classes are very balanced, skill is everything, if you play your cards right in a 1v1 fight, you can win fairly" "We don't want you playing Aion cause we'd rather have a smaller community" (then why talk about how AION is gonna have so many subs) Simply put, I am venting disgust and frustration, my apologies for using the term "fanboyz", but after reading a few posts in the "Aion-next big MMO" thread, I couldn't help myself, and believe me, I'm not the only one whos noticed, remember that thread about the AION community sucking? Well they weren't referring to the in-game community.... they were referring to the most blatantly obvious one, that of the forums. Go figure. Is it a good game? Hell yes, am I going to play it? I have been and I am going to. and yes, AION is like WoW, just because WoW is a "copy" of EQ, does not change the fact that AION is very similar in many ways to the World of Warcraft.
Im not livvy o.o far from that, livvy is a huge retard.
And I dont think you got what I meant with my post, 1-20 might feel like wow, progression cant be really different if we are into a level system based game, but the game, when it matters (the part you'll be playing the most out of your entire experience, aka endgame) is completely different. |
