Standard playbook when people get busted cheating is all of his buddies rally around and try to make them into some kind of martyr. Before all these kids come out of the woodwork trying to deny that these guys cheated, they should step back and look at 1 thing: Every minute KFR and DGH spent sifting through game logs trying to figure out what these guys did, was one minute they weren't working on one of the many things this game NEEDS: Mounts, fortifications, guildhall destruction, vandalism, legit barbarian armor, and many others. So I won't be shedding a tear for these guys. Truth be told, they were legit fighters and had done perfectly well without using cheats. It's just the mentality this game fosters where people aren't happy with winning 3/5 fights, when they can cheat and win 5/5. Then they want to cry when it comes back to bite them in the ass. Forum hacking, test client abuse, 3rd party programs, you name it.
Definite kudos to the dev team though, it would have been way too easy to look the other way and let these guys' crap continue, even at the expense of other paying customers. Fortunately they showed a little backbone this time, much to their credit.

Comrade was what jolted me back to reality...I was off in la-la land reading about ATITD. Quick fingers and being born on Jan 1 of 1924 made sure I got in :) |

Servers for downloading the actual client aren't showing up yet for me, but they say they should automatically appear when they're available. Register your key at funcom at http://betaregister.ageofconan.com/account/information/data/verifyemail
Congrats! |

It's not vaporware, but it's got some serious problems. Anyone looking for the salvation for MMOs should just keep looking, they won't find it here. My 'friend' wanted to love this game, but it's just not good. |

Rome rolled up the Greek city-states in half the time and with far fewer casualties than it took to crush Carthage. |

Please don't make the mistake of thinking that you need to buy money or you'll be crippled forever. There are some no-monthly-fee games where you theoretically don't have to pay money, but you are limited and completely screwed if you don't invest real amounts regularly. Roma Victor isn't one of those. If you want top of the line gear from day 1, then sure, you'll need to buy some ingame money. There are mulitple ways to make enough money to sustain yourself though, and you can make enough money to outfit yourself however you please just from doing contract work for other players. A small infusion of purchased money from time to time can make your game easier (buy something instantly rather than working for it) but for people with limited or no income, there is just as much chance to prosper as someone who purchases ingame money regularly. |

I played Voyage Century and I couldn't uninstall that heap of garbage fast enough. That said, some of my friends absolutely love it and think it's a fantastic game. Either way, I can't see Voyage Century being a threat to PotBS. I have a feeling that the areas in which the 2 games are similar will be very few, and in those areas I would almost bet that PotBS will be better. |

Ages ago I heard that Teppy of ATITD had plans to make Alvin's World. Not really Wild West, but American pioneer days except where folk magic is real. Would fall probably in the 1810s to 30s I'd guess, so equidistant from the American Revolution and the real Wild West. I read the book series it would be based on, Alvin Maker by Orson Scott Card. It would be a niche game, but probably wildly successful among its niche, like atitd is.
I would definitely watch a Wild West style game also, I could see the Firefly one doing ok if it was made right. It will be a tough line to walk, with the space theme and wild west as well. Firefly pulled it off well with the backstory though, so I would definitely give it a try. |

omg nice save guys, patching the whole .exe file would have taken forever.
I followed your instructions and basically went to integrity check immediately and now have less than 5mb to d/l rather than 1.35gb.
Thank you so much! Everyone, follow these instructions |

A quick look around the rest of the Chinese site gave me a chuckle too...in addition to ripping the game, there were threads bitching about how slow their torrents were running and also about the server not being up. Another interesting one was the thread explaining how to use Google translator to convert the DnL homepage into Chinese, the same translator I was using to read their page. It shows that there are a lot of similarities between noobs in the West and noobs in the East. Check out the posts from players who went from level 1 to 10 or level 1 to 13 in a day. It is sometimes hard to understand what they mean, but there may yet be some good info in there. I think for a 4 month run, a 1 or 2 day headstart won't be too much advantage in SoG. I wonder how many of the 10k keys will still be active in 3 weeks. Cheers! |
