One Thing They Need to Change In This Game...
Fort Cerberus (General) « City of Villains 2/21/09 12:54:32 AM
Intersting idea... I voted no, but I am no fan of FFA, ( Tried Morded in DAoC and found it much too chaotic ). but if there was a seperate sever or zone for that type of play and I didn't have to be involved in it, it certainly wouldn't take away from my CoX experience. What I would like to see though would be more Longbow or other "hero" type paper missions. Seems all paper missions are against other villain groups... Aint that kinda wierd? |

If Blizzard created your dream MMO ... would you play it?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/17/09 11:47:32 PM
First, Id like to just point out (one more time) that this is a silly question. And because I do have a silly side, I will answer... Of course I would... It's my DREAM MMO for cryin out loud! Naturally, after a few months I'd get bored with it and go back to playing CoX till the next "bitchen" MMO comes out...

What Fiction would you like to see made into an MMORPG?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/17/09 11:34:45 PM
Lots of great suggestions here. I especially like the idea of Pern. My suggestion though would be Tad Williams' "Otherland" series. Very near future Science Fiction. Lot and lots of possibilities there... If you've read it you know... |

How do you continue to play these MMO's ?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/03/09 8:55:00 PM
I'm right there with ya Gunga, Been playing MMOs for 6-7 years now. Loved DAoC in the old days and spent three years playing it. Then I lost interest (nurfs, bad expansions, etc.) Played WoW ( 2 yrs), CoX (going on 3 yrs now), and I've tried Vendetta Online (has potential) and was completely overwhelmed by EVE (might try that again sometime). What I am finding is that no matter which MMO I try, I quickly get tired of the grind (they all have it, some more than others). I still enjoy interacting with people I like in CoX, but then again, sometimes it seems a chore... So lately I've been thinking about getting back into single player RPGs. I played Baldur's Gate and the like, and really enjoyed those. Maybe one day somebody will come up with a truely new and original idea for an MMO and I will become interested again. Until then... ... Anyone have a suggestion for a good RPG? Cheers! |

I did the free month myself and I really enjoyed the game. I'm no expert at it. Never had a pvp encounter, but then at my level I wouldn't have been much of a challenge for those who do it every day and have access to the best ships and weapons. My only gripe (and for most it probably wouldnt matter) is the almost nightly chat drama. I could probably leave the channel and not hear (see) it, but then, I dont play MMOs so I can play alone. And the vast majority of the folks there are very nice and extremely helpful even when you have a "dumb noob" question. I truely feel the game has great potential, and i recomend it to anyone who who wants to play a game where skill really matters. I will keep an eye on it myself to see what the DEVs come up with, and hopefully come back to it. Hell, if I wasn't out of work I'd probably spend the $10 per month and hang around. Mebbe even go into the pirate killin business... |

Something that could impact The MMO market.

Yes it could... especially if Mr. Peabody the paranoid barber is checking out the parking lot in between hair cuts. I'm not suggesting you do anything illegal. By all means buy a cup o coffee. Gives you something to drink while you're killing gnomes.... My point is, (and I realize I did not paint a very sharp picture) that there is always a way to get your online gaming fix. This is not the end of the world.... I myself am a TWC customer. Since I dont download movies I'm not too worried about this. Who knows?Maybe my bill will even go down. (doubtful but I can always dream). If I get charged more because I play onine I will shop for a new ISP. There are several of them out there and they all want my business. I hope TWC realizes this... I have found that in business, pissing off your customers is a bad thing... Cheers! |

Would you play a forced grouping game?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/24/08 6:07:57 PM
Well, Here's a scenario... You've been invited to join a raid and have a chance to get some gear you've been dieing to get your toon's hands on. It will take only two hours as long as everyone in the group knows what they're doing. You have a good three hour block of time so you agree to join... 40 minutes later the final member has joined the group. He's the uber meatshield your group must have to be successful. All you need do is to wait for him to arive at the entrance... But first he needs to do some shopping... and get some healing pots... So 20 minutes later he shows up and you head into the dungeon/instance/map... 3/4 of the way through, someone (it doesnt matter who) makes a small mistake and the group wipes... No worries, the cleric has self rez and will get everyone up on their feet. There goes another 15-20 minutes, but if everything goes really well you can still finish before your time is up. If everything goes well, great... If not... "Sorry guys I cant finish this... RL is intruding" or some such lame excuse and you not only dont finish, you allienate all those people you just let down and they wont be asking you to group again any time soon... Plus your wife is pissed that you took so long to quit because the children are starving and........ Now I'm a working stiff. I have a 40+ hour a week job and a family that requires my assistance/attention regularly. This gives me on average 1-2 hours an evening to sit down and run around on my favorite MMO. (CoX atm). I dont think i want to be excluded from playing my favorite game just because I cant set aside a 4+ hour block of time to play. I would be limited to 1 maybe 2 days a week. I like a game that I can run around and do small "solo" style things on when I dont have time to do more. And when I do have that 4+ hour block I would be thrilled to join any group that would like to have my help. I do prefer groups. It's more interesting and the xp does come in a lot faster. If there is a "forced grouping" MMO, and if it looks and sounds interesting, I'll probably try it . But I dont hold any high hopes... I'm not on summer break and dont have hours per day to play any game.... To those of you who do... Cheers! |

I remember when you made the toon you wanted, not the cookie cutter all the "experts" thought you should roll. I remember "A Firbolg Bard?! Are you crazy?" Well Yeah... But I did it becuase it was unusual, heh heh... I remember when the gaming community got together and held a memorial service for an in-game friend who lost his life in RL. What a sight to see dozens of toons from all 3 realms come together to honor his memory... Yeah, the games have advanced. The graphics are far better... I do miss the sense of community though... |

What am I doing wrong with this (expletive) stalker??
Fort Cerberus (General) « City of Villains 1/18/08 9:21:01 PM
(( you should go in for the initial strike, then SS/SJ away to lose agro. Stalkers in general are hit and run.)) I have been trying to scrap... So do you attack, run away, then come back and finish off the mob?? Or are you saying don't roll a stalker if you plan on soloing?? |

What am I doing wrong with this (expletive) stalker??
Fort Cerberus (General) « City of Villains 1/18/08 8:41:30 PM
Hey y'all, I am trying to play a stalker (lvl 9 so far), but am failing miserably. My stalker tends to die quite frequently and If I survive the fight it's not by much... Then there's the down time while I recharge... I miss often with my first strike (from stealth) and it seems that dooms me from the start. I have played every other AT and have no trouble with them. Mebbe I just suck at playing a stalker, but I'm willing to learn... I have really no idea what type of stalker would be good (or at least surviveable) Any stalker tips would be appreciated Thanks in advance |

Excellent article Czzarre! Well written and informative, and besides that it just makes sense! Reminds me of why I still play CoH/V... Because I like to... Lithoman |

Well, I guess the general concensus is that there is nothing worth playing at this time. Unfortunately I agree. I spent my two years on WoW, but got tired of ppl with twinked toons and little skill making me look like a noob. DAoC before that... Best pvp I ever saw, but mystic couldnt leave well enough alone, and turned that into a gear based PvP as well. So I'm really looking forward to warhammer. Until then I'm wasting my life in CoX. It can be fun, but after a while gets dull. But I dont have more that 2 hours to spend at a time anyway. ( Ack! I've become a casual gamer! ) |
