Originally posted by hikaru77 yeah I only played 4 characters past lvl 40. I tremble before your vast knowledge. BTW find any post I ever made where I said the game is not worth buying or trying. But when tha game is simply Mass Effect II set in a Star Wars universe with a multiplayer option. It is not bad, but it si certainly not what I would call a great step forward in multiplayer gaming either.

Originally posted by hikaru77 Oh it will be a huge success, just expect a large amount of player churn. As long as you look at it a single player game with some MMO options you won't be dissapointed. |

the game is worth buying if only to run 2 or three characters through it. The Imp and Repub storylines are seperate. PvPers will like the game also, best PvP design since DAoC in my opinion. Now if the would just redo the space game to JTL style I would be a happy camper. |

hmmm an innovative crafting system, best storylines I have ever seen in a MMO, and the fantastic companion system seems to have escaped the OP's notice. BTW I canceled my preorder so lets not bring out the fanboy remarks. But I do give the game credit for the things it has done really well |

GamePro bad opinion on SWTOR
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/06/11 9:50:07 AM
I am sure I am going to get slammed by some of the fanboys on this one but I canceled my pre order this morning for a lot of the reasons the people in that vid seemed to feel. Don't get me wrong it is a really fun game in many many ways but misses the mark on a lot of things also. First thing I told all my gaming freinds is that if you enjoyed Biowares single player games this is a must buy and you will love it. I see the game as a really good single player game set in multi player mode. I don't see it as a long term game for most of us. There is too little character customization, every level 15 smuggler looks like ever other level 15 smuggler. The voice dialogue is fantastic as are the cut scenes the first couple of time, then they get old. The world graphics are gorgeous but feel sterile in an odd way. The space game is billed as amini game to account for its faults, but have you ever seen a MMO mini game that gives char XP and coin rewards? There are other nitpicky things that annoy me about the game also but those are my major complaints, Maybe I just have beta burnout, and I guarantee you if they ever do a space expansion that has JTL gameplay I will be buying and playing the heck out of it. I probably would not have canceled my pre order if my gaming friends had decided to roll on a PvP server, because the open world PvP rocks in my opinion. My opinion is that if you liked BW's singler player games then the game is well worth the box price, but don't expect a long term game if you are a PvE only player. It just is not there. The game is very good, but it is far from great. Although at this point in my gaming life I am not sure if any MMO will ever live up to my expectations. Now excuse me while I put on my flame retardent suit. |

Open Beta in December BRILLIANT MARKETING!
General Discussion « The Secret World 12/05/11 9:59:08 PM
Originally posted by Azrile agree, in the past Funcom has been excellent at marketing but not so good at producing a polished game. I will wait for ayt least a month after release before hey ever see a dime of my money. Anyone want to bet the release date will be pushed back multiple times , just like they did with AoC ? FC is the master of the carrot just out of reach trick
BTW I hope 6 months from now I will be proved wrong on everything above. |

SWTOR: a great game with some severe issues
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/05/11 9:45:19 PM
I really do like the game even after a year of testing yet I have to agree with everything the OP said. A freind and I were discussing the game thios morning and while we bot agree the game is fun, we really don't see ourselves playing it for a extensive length of time. Bioware misssed the mark on a lot of points I think, but that wont stop me from logging on as soon as my copy is in my hands LOL |

Are Voice Overs destined to be the new "must have" feature, or just a gimmick?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/05/11 9:39:00 PM
for me the voice overs were novel at first, but after running a couple of dozen toons through the same quests I got to the point where I just wanted to smack the quest giver and scream get on with it. The voice acting is hit and miss anyway. Some of it is medicre and some is just wretched |

SO glad that the NDA is lifted...
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/21/11 10:07:14 AM
I agree with the OP. Been beta testing fsince September of 2010, over a year now. I played mostly troopers specced to commando and jedi Knights. Also played the smuggler and Consular to at least lvl 20 each. Never played imps yet, saving that for release. I have played on the PvP servers and think they are a blast, the PvE servers are almost as much fun. I love 90% plus of this game, crafting has shaped up nicely, and the storyline and world creation is fantastic. My biggest gripe is the space combat. I find it a snooze fest f but still do it because of the good exp and it is a change of pace, don't expect much of a challange there. There are a few things I would change if I could but I give the game a B+. |

Originally posted by Azureblaze that should have been done long ago. AO had the best skill system I ever saw in a MMO. Dunno why FC never upgraded the graphics engine, that would be a blockbuster game. |

Originally posted by DaSpack when they were touting their move to DX10 I remember going back for a month to check it out and laughing at the tree and grass animations. They did the presttiest litle figure 8 animations every 2 seconds. Nope I have to disagree, AoC has the title for best still pics, nothing more.. LoTRO stil has the best landscape, water and lighting by far, and a couple of new upcoming games will be setting new strandards for grpahics which will put both AOC and LoTRO to shame. But on another note I have been revisiting Diablo II recently, horrid antiquey, blocky ugly graphics but the fun factor is still immense. I always thought of AoC as the pretty but dull as dirt cheerleader game. Once you get past the (pixilated) titis there is not much there to hold ones attention.

too bad it was not worthy of a 9 of 10 at release. I noticed it is flirting with going into the 100's over at XFire, not exactly the kind of population you would think a 9 of 10 game would have. |

Massively editorial on Bioware's missed opportunity
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/16/11 7:33:17 PM
Originally posted by xKingdomx as said in my post, I play for the social aspect. Got friends in my L:oTRO kinship that go bac 10 years. Some I met playing DII, DAOC, and SWG. I have played with some of their sons and daughters and yes even a grandkid in one case. Wow has how many million players? you won't ever interact with 1000 of them. I don't need 500K otehr people to enjoy a game, 25 good guildies will suffice whatever, like I said if I want a challenge I play a FPS or a RTS, I don't expect much from combat in a MMO. Some scenery and some company and with a bit of luck a good story helps. I am planning on playing this game and GWII and DIII over the next year and still squeeze in some LoTRO, screw that one game is supposed to satisfy all my gaming needs BS |

people who really want different game play can look here http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm I don't know how many games are on that list but it is alot more than when Verant released Everquest 12 years ago. Choices are out there people. As they say "don't let the door hit ya" no one is forcing anyone to pull their credit card out |
