Star Wars Galaxies: Galactic Senate Openings
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/09/08 2:13:31 PM
If you love this game then cool, whatever. The senate didn't work. Every profession would give their senator tons of ideas and they fall on deaf ears by the devs. They just wanted to make it seem like they cared. Nothing changed and SOE still went their own way. That is why everyone is so pissed off. Before the CU the majority of people said "don't do it!" but they did. When the NGE came people said "oh cool an expansion" (TOOW) then got slapped by the NGE. The reason people hate this game is because they were deceived and not listened to. They were jerked around about professions getting fixed, quests would be fixed and their would be more communication between the devs and the players. None of that happened. If people want to say I should get over it, no. Yes I quit the game but I still want change. I love star wars but refuse to let it go because someone can do better. It is no different than having a crappy elected official. I didn't vote for him and I hate him but I won't stand by and just say nothing. Everyone has a right to say what they want about SWG. If you love it or hate it, it's your opinion. I just think if a real business ran this way they would be sued for unlawful business practices. Look it up. |

BioWare MMO Star Wars Era Poll - Hypothetical

I played this game from beta. Jedi knight hologrind without the fight club. That was the best this game ever was. When the CU came, i stuck with it. Half of my friends left immediately and 75% were gone by the NGE. I stuck it out. I mastered every profession except BH pre-cu. I ground 5 characters from 80 to 90 after the NGE hit and still stuck it out. I made it until last October then quit. I finally realized that the only reason I ever stayed past the CU was my friends and they had all left. My server was bare with maybe 100 people on it at the busiest times. It wasn't just my server. This game was good when it started. If you played from the beginning and experienced everything there was and saw the potential for this game you would be upset too. People that started in the NGE era perhaps do find the game fun. Maybe that just shows the sad state of the MMO market right now. It was my fault for paying $OE for so long and if you get joy out of the game now then great. I just worry that MMOs are so mindlessly repetitive that people are just settling with their favorite IP and just living with it. I have tried everything out there and can't find one that brings me back to the pre-cu joy of exploration and camaraderie. I will just keep checking bioware's website to see if my hope of a new Star Wars game will pan out. At least if it doesn't , I am not out all that time and 14.99 a month. |

BioWare MMO Star Wars Era Poll - Hypothetical

I just finished mass effect and I think anything bioware does would be a huge leap forward from what soe has done to the star wars universe. |

Star Wars Galaxies: Galactic Settlement Initiative
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/20/07 5:50:37 PM
They are about one step away from sending out cash to entice people to play this game and only two steps from soliciting "favors".
Liquidate SOE and they would finally have some fans. Star Wars good SOE bad.

Worst Graphics: Pirates of the Burning Sea Least Fun: Star Wars Galaxies (I would give my soul for Pre-CU or new Bioware verson) Most Desolate: Star Wars Galaxies (..pull the plug. I've been there since birth and this game is in a vegetative state) Worst Use of Popular IP or License: Star Wars Galaxies (I still wonder how you can screw up Star Wars) Lamest Launch: Hellgate London (should have invested all of that wasted advertising money in another game) Most Likely to be Cancelled in 2008: The Matrix (there is no game) Biggest Stinker: Star Wars Galaxies (da da da dee dee da da da daaaaah) this award should go to SOE. |

Yeah i agree with you but I think people are willing to wait this time. They are tired of all the games being grind-fests. Even if this game never gets huge with EA or SOE backing (hopefully), the few people that want something different will stick out the longer wait. |

I think the game is coming along nicely. I know that it is not being made by college kids. They have quite a good team developing this one. It is an independant game with no big supporters like EA or SOE. It takes a lot of time when there are only a handful of people working on a game. Even more importantly, it takes more effort to believe in them when no one else does. This game will be made, you should register with the forums and check out the community there. Check out the building models and other npc models done. No levels, no classes, this is a great direction to take mmorpgs imo. |

Star Wars Galaxies: Inactive Structures Set for Demolition
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/18/07 11:03:06 PM
I think you're exactly right. My city is one of the most populated on my server with the biggest guild. I don't play anymore but I wouldn't be surprised if 80% of everything is gone. I have been there since beta and still have an active account. Problem is, i always find something better to do in real life (laundry, homework etc). SWG is like a store with a cool name and outside but when you go in everything they sell is broken. It astonishes me why people still play. Once I saw the holo-band for entertainers, I realized that not only do the developers have no imagination and creativity, but the lack of any business sense to give the majority of players what they want. Whatever, I don't even care what happens to that game anymore. All my useless pre-cu crap can rot in virtual where ever along with my 8 billion stims and buffs that don't do crap. It can crash tomorrow and all of the developers can scratch their heads over what to put on their resume for what they have done for the last few years. No one will want to hire their dumb a$$es.
If you really believe SWG will bounce back under current conditions, WAKE UP! That is just ingnorance. Pull out while you can. |

Ive been active with the website for about a year and I pre-ordered. Great crew and truly an innovative game. If you want a change from all of the cookie cutter games out there, this will be it. Stop by the forums and get to know some of the people.

Yeah i have been playing since launch. This game has one good thing going for it. The Star Wars name. All of the excitement is gone now. The professions, large teams, alpha class were something unique to SWG. I used to spend so much time thinking how do you become a jedi and what is the secret and who will be first. I was a pre cu knight and although no one cares, I remember the good parts of the game. The stuff they had right at launch was the most important. The unbalances and graphics were minor things. They changed what was good and made it just like every other game out there. The things that made it unique don't even matter anymore. This game is a ghost town. I still pvp and play on Eclipse but the economy is dead, my friends list is obsolete (more than 80%) quit of that list. The only ones still playing are people like me who are waiting for something better and stay due to the friends who still play. And our love for Star Wars. Saying it is anywhere close to what it was is absolutely absurd. It is such a shame that this happened. How can you mess up a star wars game? The name alone sells it. I think that the fire that was the original idea of this game went out a long time ago with stream-lining it with EQ2 and rumors of porting it to consoles. The talented people who left and the aging game engine are some other signs that this game gets no love. I think of all of the talented people who designed every aspect of this game when it came out and now it seems like every patch is missing the big picture. Sorry to rant but this game has meant so much to me and it is sad to see it neglected like this. We can always hope for a Bioware SWG2. /rantoff |
