which was be being super excited about the video and i admit was in bad taste.  but what i got from him is pure comedy.

guys please stop getting into it with arken.  literally put him on block and it will be easier...he feeds off our responses and i have done enough dmg to this thread already by letting him bait me.

why do we need to answer him...its not like any fan or newcommer to the game is going to take him seriously the way he lashes out and trolls here.  Seriously just put him on block and it will be one more step to getting our forum back to decent  discussion.

Ok back onto the thread topics (i apologize for assisting in derailing it)....

One thing about the official forums that has not been pointed out is the moderation.

Mods will give infractions and close threads better than most forums.  A lot of the people they ban and close are the fanboys.  People make the mistake of saying they only lock naysayer posts, but thats couldnt be further from the truth.  So many repeated topics made by fanboys are locked if it is just out of hand.

But when a naysayer comes to the boards saying "lol this game is vaporware why is this forum even here"....yea you cant really complain about moderation when it gets locked.

The community staff does an amazing job.  See the community staff Q&A thread  and other stuff they modify. 

For example if someone were to ask..."When is beta expected to start"...when someone replied "the goal is for an october beta with a 2008 release"...thats usually it.  Simple question, simple answer, thread is closed.  They dont let it derail into "omg but they promised last time" or "i actually think it will be earlier"  or "omg omg omg i cant wait pick me peeeeeeeese"

um yea i was talking about aventurine.  nothing in my post was defending myself or any other fans because i didnt really see you attacking fans....

but since you are now obviously just trolling and flame baiting like bren pointed out, im not going to waste anymore time on someone who simply cant move on and go follow something he enjoys.

The problem with you guys is that when you make excuses for Darkfalls problems, you say "ITS OKAY" to their antics.

If you want a good game like you say you do, you hold these bastards accountable for their actions, not make excuses for them to continue on their current path.

You dont change a brats behavior by making excuses to everyone for his behavior, you punish them in hopes theyll be a little better person for it in the long run.

Yea see this is why no one really takes you seriously on these boards anymore.

Antics?  What antics.  DF owes us nothing.  They have explained their stance on how they handle the information they give out, if you dont like it, move on.  We arent paying customers yet, and we know that the dev team has our best interests in mind.  They have asked the community what we feel about things like SCS and SRS. 

You call them delaying a beta and restarting the game or missing an update "antics".  When they start making lies to us like funcom, when we actually have to pay for it, then you can call them antics.   We choose to follow them.

We dont need to make them accountable for their actions.

Sounds like DF had the opportunity to release some kind of game into beta in 2003.  But chose not to because, like they said, they werent happy with it.  Guess you would rather have had them release whatever crap they had at the time instead of delay.  Unbelievable.

Sounds like we are holding developers accountable when WAR openly admits to not being ready and what they are going to cut out.  And you think DF devs want to give out more info at this point when you trolls rip everything they say apart and anything they do say gets labeled as a lie or faked?  yea thought so.

Why did the video take so long?  because if they just fraps'd for 5min and hosted it then it would have been ripped apart for whatever reason.  It was their first big marketing attempt in awhile and it had to be perfect.  and as good as it was...people like you still complained that they didnt show every spell and every aspect of the game.

Most Darkfall followers hate carebears and the games they arrived from, intense. They and their games stand for everything we hate and what have underminded the MMORPG genre to become what it is today. I been involved in many threads on Darkfall main board where carebears is trying to "sneak"  their carebear features into Darkfall. Too say it mildly, they havent been successful.

Lotro, WoW, Warhammer, Age of Conan and EQ is all carebear games in my eyes and i wouldnt play them even if i got payed doing it. Many Darkfall followers have the same feeling as me on this. This is something many dont understand, OP included. These games mentioned above isnt an option. Its total crap games. The tolerance for other games isnt that hi when you talk too the real hardcore PvP players.

Do carebears feel welcomed to Darkfall main board? I doubt it. The lack of a good sandbox in a fantasy enviroment for so many years, february 2003 when UO went carebear, is partly what create this defence behaviour towards carebears. They just aint welcome with there carebear features and if they cant accept it then go play one of the numerous carebear MMORPG games out there. They have a choice, but Darkfall followers dont. The numerous carebear MMORPG games with no endgame, leveling, no consequences isnt an option. Period. So Darkfall is the only hope and it sure get us on toes defending it.

These carebears just dont have a clue of the game Darkfall and what it stands for. Theyre brainwashed with the latest games and just dont understand a game like Darkfall and its potentials.

Hyping your own game and dehyping other games have been done by all type of followers here on MMORPG.com. Is it just Darkfall followers that isnt allowed to dehype other games? Pathetic.

Being a carebear have nothing to do with being a newb. A carebear is a follower of games with features far away from the ones Darkfall cheerish and protect. WoW is a good example of a carebear game. So is Lotro and Warhammer. Being a newb in Darkfall isnt bad at all. Its a guy that want to learn and is as respected as anyone else ingame. All have been newbs at some stage. So being a carebear or a newb is not the same. Heck the newb like Darkfall for what it is and accept the features. A carebear dont accept the features and tries to change the game from within. A huge difference.

About the ganking of lowbies. A carebear game like WoW is where you find this lame behavior most frequent. In a sandbox game the game mechanics works in favour for the newbs. So the game Darkfall dont promote ganking as WoW does. Isnt the world strange sometimes OP. Level based games is where you find this lame behavior the most. Isnt it kinda strange that you forgot to point this out OP? =)

Add a good alignement system to that as Darkfall have done and the game will take care of newbs alot better then earlier level based games done. Age of Conan was nothing but a gankfeast.

You can rub your arrogant attitude in the carebears' faces when DF comes out, and it's perfect, etc. We'd all be better off if you stick with your other hardcore friends in the DF forums, but no, you have to come to open forums like this where there are "carebears" and you have to insult them, while trying to promote Darkfall. Aragon isnt leaving a bad impression on anything.  Only a fool would think that a few random posters represent the community or the gameplay of a mmo that will be played by many.

Just to point out something about the UI people keep asking about...

Dont expect it to be something that takes up a large % of your screen.  It has been stated that they want to minimize the UI to increase immersion (an amazing idea) and not have a zillion buttons and hot bars on your screen.

Here is a screenshot that shows the UI...notice the health bar, the targeting crosshair, and what appears to be some skills....pretty much all you need.  use keys to pull up menus when you need em.

But of course, this screenshot is obviously faked and photoshoped some health bars onto a screenshot created with an image progam....sigh

One more point I must add though. There was no crafting in the video. That dwarf at the anvil is just an armor merchant and the interaction with him is someone buying a Chain Helm for 200gp. Pause the video and it becomes quite clear. We won't see any crafting until the game launches(or Beta) as Tasos has stated he won't show the crafting system until players experience it first hand. I only thought I would clear this up as a lot of people in this thread and in other threads have been saying there is crafting in the video when there is not.

Yup this has been said time and time again, but they wont listen.  Even beyond that...the forums dont even represent what the community will be like on release.  The people who post in a regular fashion on the offficial boards may represent 1 or 2 percent of the subscription base if it releases well and catches on.  Remember im talking about the forum members who post a lot, not the lurkers, not the people who just registered, and not the people who only post once in a blue moon.

But hey anything to put DF in a bad light right?  They cant call it vaporware anymore (unless they really stretch the definition to the point where all games are vaporware until they release), and they are running out of steam on the graphics front after many people have realized that the graphics are more than fine.  So now i guess it is on to bashing the community.

Eventually it will be "DF only has so many subcribers, not anywhere near what WAR or WoW has, so clearly that means it is bad".

it really is fun watchin them waste time in these forums trying to convince others, thinking that people are actually taking into account what they say.

One could make the same arguement for the people who take the time to come in here and bash the game over and over.  Not just once, but over and over and its always just something short like "vaporware" or "this game is crap you are all fools for following it".

Can't they wait till it releases?  There is no reason for them to come here and interrupt conversation about the game and try to convince us it isnt real.  And that started before the "fanboism".  At one point people just talked about the game and all its features.  And when Aventurine decided the game was not the best they could produce, they delayed it (all games should do this but i digress) and the community has since decided that this meant it was never comming out.  It is a small indy developer and people can not understand that and they feel like the developers owe us something.

So it swings both ways.  The DF community did not start this nonsense.  It was the people who decided they have no lives so they are going to make it their business to convince the world this game should not be followed.  You had people makin alt and alt when they got banned to keep trolling the forums.  Remember Catizone?  he was all over multiple forums bashing every thread about the game.  gmny, tsituc, etc make the same statement over and over.

If we are really just stupid and followin a vaporware game, then leave us to our stupidity.  Im sure you can spend your time better.  (not directed at op)

Also, the screenshots dont look 100x better than the video...the video has some absolutly amazing scenes in it, especially since it was recorded on medium settings.

If you look at the scene where there is that little encampment on the river which is followed by a temple in the desert....you see that they are just as good if not better graphics than the screens i posted.

another off the top of my head is when they walk under the overpass and see that tree in the middle of the lake...yep again, you fail.

Sorry but you arent going to convince anyone.  Stop trying to tell us we are falling for something.  If you dont like the graphics, fine.  But unfortunatly for you the vast majority do not agree since they have eyes themselves and make up their own minds.

heh this was surprisingly more original than i thought for a response.  but still proves the point that these people just cant admit that the graphics are fine.

Sorry we aren't falling for anything.  There will be no pre-orders and we get to try the game before we play.  If it is a scam, it is the worst scam in the history of scams because they wont be getting anything.
