:O is that for the EU beta?

The site keeps having an error processing my request apparently, will try later.

Are you guys talking about entering CE codes for Open Beta?

I was already in the NA beta but I checked my account page the other day and found it was flagged for OB :) So just been in the process of downloading it over the past few days.

The EU Downloader Software is horrible, reminds me of AoC. It slows your internet right down and uses 20% cpu just sitting there even when its not downloading. It also caused a BSOD for me, no doubt got a big ass memory leak.

Why cant MMO developers design a decent little downloader for once rather than give it a half arse effort.

Also may I ask how do you sell on the auction house? I can buy from the item trader but not sell....

Is there any way to mute them!?

As soon as I step on the server the "shout" is being spammed with gold selling messages at few second intervals. You just cant talk to anyone.

This is actually a game breaker for me if you cant stop it..

Community seemed great. I loved the world, art style and the graphics. BUT....I just sadly couldnt get into the game. I too like others tried to love it, but I just couldnt.

I know its a "Sandbox MMO" but the lack of aim made me feel rather bored pretty quick. The gameplay felt like taking today's popular MMOs then just ripping out any kind of aim given to you such as quests etc, and giving you a little poke and nudge to run along and "play". I guess it just wasnt for me :( I tried guys I really did. Maybe I'll return in a few months if the new devs show a positive sign of progression.

Apparently - Hating on WoW makes your E-Peen grow larger.

May I ask - what is the GCD?

Happy to read this definitely. Playing as a Squig Herder the squig seemed useless, unresponsive and retarded, so that will mean I'll definitely try out the class again in open beta to see if this helps.

Lets just hope they keep to their promise and actually fix all this stuff before launch. I definitely feel the combat could take some tweaking to make it more responsive, satisfying and enjoyable.

I found this in RvR too. I had to ask for a heal but even then I wasnt getting one. Kinda irritating.

Problem I have with the classes is that I feel there is really not enough Ranged/Melee classes and way too many Spellcasters. This is probably down to them removing 3 classes from the game but they really should have balanced that out.

Im kinda lost as to which class suits me and I enjoy. After trying the Shadow Warrior, Squig Herder, Engineer and Witch Elf the only one ive enjoyed is the Witch Elf, but my problem with her is that shes wayyy too similar to other rogue type classes from other MMOs which therefore means I might feel bored of her quickly. I usually play non spellcaster DPS classes in MMOs so im kinda feeling abit dissapointed on that front. Mainly the melee DPS front, its seriously lacking in that department. Seems to be enough tanks but not dps melee classes.

The RvR will make or break this game ultimately and this in turn will be dependant how well issues such as class/ faction balance, lag and combat are dealt with.

Thats basically what I was saying Zayne - that is my exact worry. In no way was I saying it was a bad game at all, because as i've said I really enjoy my time with it so far.

This game screams low budget F2P.

At first i thought the game was very very ugly. Then i forced Anti Aliasing and Anistrophic Filtering on my Nvidia Panel and that helped a huge amount. Then by exploring abit more of the world I started to see its beauty. Theres certainly room for improvement but its grown on me.

And these textures are "apparently" only medium to low, and despite setting it on High the game will not actually be showing the "High" textures - these will be implemented for the retail release. Hopefully thats true as screenshots I've seen have certainly looked better.

99.9% of WoW's gameplay, UI, mechanics, lore, and other features are not new and brilliant.  It borrows from UO, EQ, DAoC, AO, Warhammer (tabletop), D&D (tabletop), and countless others.  In other words, WoW has taken the best features from other games to make their own.

Just  a head's up to OP.

Oh yeah for sure I know that. But it was one of the first to really truly nail all these great features together into a package

Oh definitely like I said its a very solid game. And quite frankly its borrowing from the best. But thats what my main worry flowing through my impressions was - because its so similar to WoW will it get old quick? Its something we cant tell yet, just a worry. I loved WoW but it just became boring after so much time of playing - and i think this is the case with a lot of other MMO players who moved on from WoW.

By the angry comment i meant that towards just the fanboys who seem stuck in their ways and genuinly think the game is hugely different from other MMOs such as WoW.

Im really enjoying the game and its alot of fun, theres a few issues here and there but nothing gamebreaking. Its just my worry about the longevity with alot of players for the game, including myself.

Well, the OP doesn't sound to me like WAR is "so much like WoW". It sounds to me like WAR is so much like an MMORPG, which it should be since it is an MMORPG.

Thats not so much the case. I think its sad to think the genre has turned into a checklist of features which it meets to be labelled an MMORPG. There are some truly different MMORPGs out there but its mainly the fantasy MMO's which are forming a pattern

Yeah its a pretty cool system. Hopefully they do use taunt or damage taken as that would make sense.

This is in reply to the "dunno what to say, kinda bored" thread, however I felt it required a seperate discussion.

WARNING LARGE AMOUNTS OF TEXT FOLLOW:

Ive got to say its not as good as it was hyped to be and in that sense i feel slightly left down. Problem is, despite WAR fanboys who will probably flame and disagree strongly, the game feels alot like WoW 1.5. But thats not to say its a bad thing as even though its "cool" to hate WoW, it is a brilliant MMO and many MMO's released after it have taken a huge amount from WoW, for good reason.

The Public Quests are meant to be some revolutionary PvE feature but they are seriously not. Theyre like slightly larger group quests open for anyone to run into, which could quite easily be simple group quests if they wanted to make them that way. Its cool that theyre so easy to get into, but I believe they've been again, overhyped.

I played an RvR scenario in my time yesterday and I have to say thats where the game shined the most for me. It was really enjoyable despite teammates not communicating much - I think the problem is many people dont even know how to enter Scenario chat but that will simply come with learning. With an organised team I can see the RvR being the true highlight of the game most certainly.

Many of the classes do feel similar to WoW's but at the same time some are quite interesting. The Witch Elf for example really is exactly like WoW's Rogue. Combo points? No we have "blood lust" instead - basically identical. And abilities which put poison on your blades which then have a chance to apply to your target - almost identical to the WoW Rogue's poison.

Sound wise the game sounded as I expected really. In the elf area I liked the horn which sounded occasionaly, made the area feel more alive which I think is very important and should have little sounds like this all over the world - maybe they do? Im yet to explore huge amounts.

The ranged combat for the Shadow Warrior felt abit...wrong. Usually i play rogue/ranger type classes in MMOs but straight away, being the first class i tried, it gave me a dissapointed opinion on the game (which was then redeemed with the Witch Elf despite its unoriginality). There needs to be a "fire shot" action button otherwise theres no feedback to whether the game has registered a ranged attack - which is made problematic due to the slow firing speed which takes seconds before your character reacts to the attack command.

Music again for me was as expected really. It didnt stand out to me like WoW or Oblivions impressive musical score does but it works and theres no major complaints there.

And finally the animations could use some touch ups but i think "rofl" isnt a constructive or legit complaint towards them. For now I'd be fine with them but it'd be nice if there were some improvements here and there.

Overall my first day in the game was enjoyable but not the big step up I think myself and others were led to believe. The problem with MMOs, and I know alot of people feel the same way, is that were sick of doing the same damn things over and over and are all clambering to find a new enjoyable world to immerse ourselfs in. Problem is that until now nothing has tipped WoW, whether people wish to admit or not - its quite simply the truth. WAR is the first thing that has come close to solid competition in the run up to its launch.

However whilst playing I was dissapointed to find that the game was in many areas very very similar to WoW, again whether the anti-WoW'boys wish to admit it - its the truth. Now thats not a bad thing in some senses as it means the gameplay is solid and fun to play. But where the problem lies is for those that are bored of doing the same thing in fantasy MMOs resulting in the big question being - how long will WAR hold our interest before we leave in search for something different again?

Dont get me wrong the game feels solid and enjoyable, despite certainly feeling in "beta", and it will be one of the top MMOs when it launches no doubt about it. If it was the first MMO i was to experience then my worries wouldnt exist. But due to a large amount of core gameplay being so similar to other MMOs out there, especially WoW. Im hoping that in the later levels as the RvR PvP experience expands that this will make the game really stand out from the crowd. The early RvR showed alot of promise, and the simple fact that you gain XP whilst playing it really added alot of an incentive to play the PvP side of things.

Im sure many WAR fanboys will light up in anger at any negative points I raised about their beloved game and will be quick to throw insults and namecalling, but the fact of the matter is many points and worrys I made are all true and will be held in the heads of a large amount of other players.

Sucks. I wont be putting much effort into playing often then and just get a feel for the game and classes. Want to hopefully have a decision on which class to play by launch.

I see thanks for that. Explains alot! Ive forced 4x AA and 8x AF in my Nvidia control panel which has certainly helped alot.  One thing I have noticed is how the names above peoples head's are very unclear at short distances, anyone know of a fix for that or is it just the game?
