Good idea for a text-based browser game. I'm not sure about a full 3d game.

I can picture if it was free for everyone all the 17 years and younger would join in, who would stop them?

Paying fileplanet decreases the chances of that happening...sure they might get in, but not as much if it was for everyone.

I think you are wrong! This is yet another way to steal gold from our pockets.

The in-game video looks very nice and reminds me a bit of Lord of the Rings Online (which is a good thing!!)

While I will agree most people don't want to sit around in town and chat, I do miss the downtime in EQ groups and just chatting away.  That time is what we need again, IMO.  Sure downtime for solo play is obviously dumb, but in group play it's a lot of fun.

That depends on the community, not the game :-)

The CE is definitely worth getting! Though, why do people order it 6 months before release?

Because there are only 60k available!  Thats not very many considering most new MMOs in recent yrs have had like 250k to 500k subs within the first few months.

They sell out 1st, ppl like having all the shiny~shiny extras!

I agree, but 6 months?! Don't forget what happened with Gods and Heroes, it is not worth the trouble getting it already. I would wait for another few months.

I guess it would depend on howmany time you want to spend to a game. I have played both games and would suggest World of Warcraft for a longer period (5 months +), Lord of the Rings Online for a shorter period (2-4 months). Both games are extreamely well set up, so you just should play the trials and decide for yourself

If you want new content and gameplay, you could wait for WAR. With your experience in World of Warcraft, you also could go back if you don't wish to start all over again and just continue with your old characters :-)

I'm all the way from UO, but I don't consider myself as an old school gamer. I'm a present day gamer :)

And seriously, who cares about the graphics? As long its a modern engine the game is ok to play. There is nothing more irratating then good graphics and lame gameplay. Both would be fun, but i choose gameplay over graphics any day.

And WAR graphics is not that bad.

I'm not paying my ass of for a ''decent-looking'' game. I agree graphics arn't the main factor in a game, though they shouldn't be forgotten. 15€ a month + retail box for a decent game is getting old. I want good return for my money, and wont say yes to yet another common MMO.

EA M, I want better graphics than you are offering now!!

*begs for a major graphic update before open beta/launch*

With todays options, I don't think we should accept these kind of graphical interfaces. For example, look at Lord of the Rings Online. I really hope they will upgrade the graphics, otherwise I will be very dissapointed.

I don't like quests as much as just getting in a group and grinding on mobs in different areas of the game. That was always fun in DAoC.

I lol-ed at this post. Normally you see people spamming: ''This a a grindfest game, boo!!'', and for the very first time I see some one asking IF you can grind in this game because questing is boring.

In Guild Wars 2 you actually can play a ''shape shift'' class. They are called the Norn.

The Norn are a race of nine-foot-tall warriors who live in the northernmost Shiverpeaks. They revel in the harsh climes, leading dangerous lives among savage beasts. These mighty hunters are not organized into a single nation. Instead, those who display exceptional strength and prowess in battle establish homesteads, though they are certainly not considered "rulers". They often spend years at a time tracking a particularly strong or clever quarry; they never give up on a battle, a pursuit, or a friend. The Norn revere the spirits of nature—from the wolf to the snow lynx—but the most powerful of these is the Bear Spirit, who, according to myth, blessed the Norn with the ability to change shape and "become the bear".
