No. It just means they've left, don't care anymore, or both.  Starvault blamed everything on "waiting for Epics patch". Well, now they have Epic's patch. So let's see what they blame it all on next.

Exactly...  besides.. what is linked above is a "wish list" of what the "plan to do"...  very similar the the previous 100 "wish lists" that came before promising to fix everything in the game.  If anyone doubts this they need only go back to last year.  People were saying the exact same stuff in Dec that they are saying now.  "The game just needs 3 months", "The next patch will fix XXX"...  Now we are 10 months later and we still hear "The game just needs 3 months", "The next patch will fix XXX"....

Except this is not just a patch. This is a totally updated and new build to the engine itself. Meaning this is not just little fixes here and there. This is a HUGE make or break patch. Also this build is from Epic and in my book Epic is a trusted company that I like a lot.

Yes, this is very good if they implement it correctly. I am really interested to see the improvements that are made with this new build.

I think they are scared to release any videos because of the first video being poorly received. I mean I would be too if I got that kinda bad of a reaction from the ENTIRE gaming community. It was so bad that they went back and revamped the whole combat/targeting mechanics. You are talking about something that is the core of the game and something that probably took a year or so of development time.  If the game is good enough and turns out to be a very fun game. The community will grow over time just like EvE.

I have always had a really good feeling about this game and I have to say I still have a really good feeling about this game.

P.S. Cavadus.  Your not the only oldest follower. I have been following for like one more month less then you. There are a few other that are still on that have been following for the same amount of time as us two.

Earthrise sounded good in it's basics for some two years. Now it get's worse with every new detail they tell us.

Area of effect CC's?
Area of effect heals?
Area of effect weapons?
No friendly fire?

All of that in a FFA PvP MMO? Happy zerging!

Zerging is possible in every game. So I do not care too much about zerging. and even then the way it is put up it gives really a sense of knowing how to use your abilities to the fullest adding that skill based sense.

AoE weapons..... Ermmm, maybe launchers and other weapons that have splash damage? Not an ability but the gun itself.

Uhhh,.... hasn't it also been stated that you can take friendly damage? I remember them saying something about if you walk in front of someone firing you will take damage.

They did not add the regular shots.. We do not know how far inbetween each skill use there is regular ammunition being used.  There could be very few abilities being used with a lot of regular shots being fired.

It really is not and I can't believe you don't see it. This game is a great investment if you know what you are doing. With proper meetings, schedules, etc. The game can do a 180 and become one of the greater sandboxes out in the market which again the writer also noticed.

Also if you really know how to work code it will not take a lot of work to fix the problems that made it that way. You could practically go back to a standard launcher then work from there or better yet put in your existing launcher. Really, there are simple fixes that could be made to the codes that could take only a day and already have vast improvements. There are also small fixes to the game that world that could be made such as the placements of objects.

Bad press of the game is not the issue here. I am fairly positive that the company is the one getting the bad press and not the game. I am fairly positive if an other company came and took it over people would try out the game again. This is one of those cases bad company, EXCELLENT game!

No, it's an absolute waste of time. My company has done several M&As in the last few years, and across my desk have come software written by other companies that we had to co-opt. When the code was bad, we basically did a cost-benefit analysis and most of the time realized that the amount of time it would take to follow, and fix the code, make it usable across multiple developers and have it tie into a source control properly (separate out modules, functions, subs, dlls, etc) was usually about the same time it would be to do it from scratch.

It is a *lot* of work. This idea that taking somebody else's bad code and being able to use it with new developers easily is ridiculous, because we don't know their variable naming schemes (they probably don't have one, given their lack of experience), their namespaces, etc. ALL of that work has to be FIGURED OUT, and then FIXED. The time it takes to figure it out will be HUGE. What if they are using X for a counter in a for loop, and in another routine they use "cnt"? These are the types of things you would know if you managed software projects.

A company to buy this game, the IP, as it is -- it's more of a detriment than a benefit. The amount of work it would take to re-engineer all this stuff, why would they pay the price for the IP when they could do it from scratch, with NO additional cost? The only thing of redeeming value is the graphics, and even those aren't great which can be re-done pretty fast by a competent and experienced team. Right now MO's functionality stretches to be less than that of MODS of games. Hell, Age of Chivalry has more combat depth and it's only a mod.

Again, why would ANY company buy Mortal Online's IP, when the amount of time to fix it would be huge and costly. When have you EVER heard of a company buying out a piece of garbage company? Sigil games was bought out by Sony because they were PROFITABLE. NCSoft brought in Richard Garriot because he made MONEY. Nobody goes out and buys a loser, and nobody will look at MO and think "I can turn this around", because in the software development world, it has to work properly to begin with, otherwise trying to rearchitect it will be like fixing the whole first floor of the Empire State Building, without knocking down the entire building to get there. It's difficult, costly, and most of the time, pointless. Especially when they'd have to pay a premium just to get the rights to the game.

But you are forgetting it does work properly.. The combat system works? The crafting system works? You are physically able to move around? You are able to kill stuff (PvE)? The major pieces of the puzzles are there with a few loose ends. Codes are easy to fix if you have the co-operation of the company you are taking over. Which is not unheard of and you can fix stuff with minimual cost. In my opinion it is cheaper to take over a company then only spend an extra what 10 million into just improvements. That is all that is need improvements. The basics are there.

Also the additional cost will not cost more then the game cause I HIGHLY doubt SV would sell this game for more then they have invested. I can almost fairly positively say that this IP has a great potential. You are just too hard headed and hate this game with a passion to even consider an other company actually liking the game and taking it up. You want to see this game burn in a blazing fire.

I am wanting to buy a new video card for WoW  I have a Pci 1.0 slot but 2.0 cards are welcomed as they are backwards compatible. My price range is fairly low right now $20-$60, just something that would play wow and not lag a-lot.

Also one more ?, I have played almost every MMORPG except for wow do I have to buy The battlechest plus WOTLK or jut WOTLK?

uhhhh... huh? How are you able to play a lot of the recent game with Pci 1.0? That just is unheard of! You must get A TON of graphic lag.

Okay, just go here and select your price range. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=48&name=Desktop-Graphics-Video-Cards

"Let me open up this review with some bad news."

You do understand the difference between a review and an article right?

It is a form of a review but at the same time an article. It is as the article says an anti-aliased article.

I am surprised also.... Really this game has some really GREAT positives and is only let down by the errors, glitches and the patcher. Either then that the game is excellent combat that is better than almost any game out in the market and the crafting is also awesome! Which the writer clearly stated and which none of you are paying attention to.

Really this game is a great game when it comes to combat and crafting. If there were half the bugs and errors in game I am positive this game would have better reviews. SV really needs to step down and give this great IP to a more competent company.

I don't think any company would take this on now, after getting such bad press out there, and taking it from a company who can't even make their own launcher for the software. God knows how bad the code is written, and if another company had to take it over, they'd have to fix the code -- which if it's written poorly, would take just as much time as re-writing all of it.

Why would they buy anything from SV, when it's a waste of time?

The armor detail and structures seem WAY more detailed and better then the environment. Don't know if that is a good thing of a bad thing.. Either then that it should be really fun exploring the island and the island it's self looks fairly large!

It is just a game made for Console and PC.  Doing this requires a different interface than most are used to.  Is it really that hard spending a bit of time and learning a new interface?  It takes at the most a day or two to get it down.

They said that hardware mouse would not be in at launch, but if needed would be added later.  They also said that UI sluggishness including mouse would be greatly improved in the launch version and is worse in beta due to logging and debugging issues.

None of the MMO's you guys have played could support a controller or be played on a console.  It is actually a lot of fun playing an MMO on console so dont' be so close minded.  Console games where a controller is all you have requires nestled menus.  If it is too much for you to handle though this just won't be the game for you.

As far as confusion, mystery, unmarked npc's, etc. this is key to making FFXI and XIV a much more immersive world.  Talk to NPC's, explore, it isn't that hard.  Not everything needs a ! and ? to show you exactly what to do and where to go.  At least for me it is just an insult to intelligence.

Everything in XIV is not going to be handed to you on a silver platter.  You won't be told exactly what to do or where to do it or be given a clear line from point A to B where B is end game.  It is just the way the game is, and the devs refuse to change it to be more like WoW.  If you can't get past that it just won't be the game for you.

Don't be so quick to judge.  You might be hurting yourself with early judgment and letting a unique game pass by in the sea of clones we are stuck with.  Try to be a little open minded and maybe you will find something great like I did.  Maybe you won't but at least you will have given it a fair shot.

I totally agree with this statement! You are right on the nail!

In all honesty I had no trouble at all getting used to just using the keyboard and using mouse for clicking targets and rotating camera view. I used the keyboard 90% of the time and only 10% on mouse for talking to npc's, rotating camera and selecting targets. Really just get in game and spend a few mins just getting used to the controls.

Yes, very true that this game gives you no help what so ever in direction of where you should go. Which is AWESOME! It allows you to actually have to think and actually have to read what is going on. If you do not read the dialog you really should not be playing at all cause you will get lost. Map and reading was my key to enjoying this game.

I have however not played since CB2 and I want to know how is the combat speed. If anyone remembers how cb1 and cb2 was you would understand how MISERABLY slow the combat was. Have they speed up the combat some what?

Ermmm you guys do realize that WoW was not the game to give way to those names or how those types of classes played out.... Why is it that people relate those classes to wow? I really do not get it?!

There is definatly mouse lag but i only use the keyboard when i play so  it isn't really affecting me at all. menu seems pretty smooth when using just the keyboard.

I also thought the game was beautiful looking. Cant wait for release now my 2 hours i got to play tonight is enough for me to pre order the game.

Careful, this is actually one of those cased where beauty truly is only skin deep. Give it a few days before you decide to pre-order.

i don't need to I loved FFXI was the best mmo i have played. This gameplay so far was very fun and didn't hold your hand. I'm pre ordering.

Yeah, hand holding is pretty much non-existent in FFXIV, which is really nice and makes it hardier to grind. However this leads to the fact that you pretty much have to read EVERYTHING. I mean I tried a few times to skip some story lines and totally had no clue where to go for the next quest and ended up having to read the quests. FFXIV is the definition of RPG and really brings back the RPG in MMO.

The only concern I have since I have not played since cb1 is the game speed. HOLY CRAP! It was slower then FFXI. I have heard they have speed up the animation some what... So any news on combat speed now?

well it is past the 30th so I posted the screenshot here on mmorpg! WOOT!

I died a little inside (from seeing this before I actually get into the game, would have been so much epic seeing this fro the first time when I was actually playing the game myself) when I saw that dragon appear! That is REALLY REALLY AWESOME!

Isn't it a tease! It looks really awesome and very deep crafting! I have a good feeling about crafting in this game.

Well here it is.... The crafting window for Earthrise. Enjoy!

Yes, they are not getting really much any hype anymore but to say that no one will play beta is over exaggerating A LOT! Yes they had a lot of information when it first started and it was steady but as soon as they downfall on combat video. They really stopped. I think they really do not want to have a repeat of the combat video and want to release a gameplay video that is VERY well polished.
