I think these tracks are much much better than the first tracks.  Keep them coming.

To KyleRan:

I guess you have the wrong idea about jobs in ER. Your job isn't a warrior, a warlock, or anything of the sort. It is a job to directly hinder or benefit the community via player interaction and use of skills. There will also be more "jobs" as you say than in WoW. They are already looking into multiple jobs just to heal other people and their equipment.

OK, that sounds a bit different, but still sounds like being given quests daily that involve more player interaction and skill use.  But you are correct, I haven't read up too much on them yet, since they remain in what I call the "vision" phase.  We'll see how they actually turn out when implemented.

Well this game does not require you to do quest at all.  You can solely be a pvp only player.  Fighting in guild battles or fighting against a player one on one.   I think the quote will do a better job at explaining it than I ever would. So here it is.

"Some community members have expressed a desire to not participate in ‘storyline’ missions. How flexible is the content for these players – is it possible to do nothing storyline related and still enjoy Earthrise?
Absolutely. Storyline exists in Earthrise for several reasons. It offers players a sense of immersion in a rich science fiction setting with its own politics, conflicts, intrigue and a good dose of mystery; once players go through it, they will find answers to so many questions regarding the world they live in, the factions, the organizations. Despite its lucrative rewards that players will earn for their time invested in quests completion, the storyline in Earthrise can be seen as optional and players may participate in it as much as they want, or not take part of it at all. It's fully acceptable for a new player to disregard parts or the whole storyline and immediately start working on his skills while exploring the vast expanse of Enterra, become a recruited young member of a guild that takes care of it's development and security in the cutthroat world out there, or an apprentice crafter building the foundation of the next big brand in the world. Anytime a player needs a break from the main game mechanics with refreshing solo-friendly questing, the storyline will be there to provide that."forums.play-earthrise.com/index.php

Towards your ganking statement:

Players will only be able to use  thespecific skill template that is made by the equipment worn so even the players with the highest amount of skills will still only be able to use the same amount at once as a new player could.

Towards your crafting statement:

Crafting is as much an important role as any other in ER, there will be plenty of crafters to explore all skills and serve the community well. And if there isn't enough or there is too many, this will just increase the realistic approach of ER with inflation.

Towards your gear statement:

Your gear, skill template, and overall knowledge of your surroundings and opponent will determine the winner of a pvp match, not just one of the three.

Towards your statement about crafters fighting for resources:

Crafters create the items but most do not collect the resources. Guilds will be one of the most major aspects of ER, a crafter will most likely join a guild so he can be given resources and protection while he supplies his guild with weapons, ammunition, armor, what have you.

Emphasizing a variety of options and combinations over power level. Players who advance their characters will have more options. More options means better combinations. One or a couple newbies who use their limited set of abilities in a smart way have a greater opportunity of taking that veteran down.

So the better players got better skill combinations, too the point where unless you catch a advanced player who is noobish you need 2 players to kill them. So the thats about 2 to 1 power scale in skills.

Players in Earthrise will have wide choice of weapons and armor, but their use will be limited by their character’s physical attributes. We make sure that players are able to use moderately powerful weapons after a small gaming investment, and everything else onward requires players to actually play to unlock the features of the game

Not much indecator here just how much of a advantage a end game player has over the ones who are not here.  But its there hopefully its not over powering but the first statement indecates it will be.

The offline advancement system has a more social approach. Players can educate and have a profession in Earthrise, which will give them social standing and constant income. The income will be significantly less compared to the one they can make during online play, but it will be enough to compensate all those people who don’t have the time to be online for hours and hours every day. The social standing of the players will allow them to gain some rewards from the factions they work for.

KK, so you just gain money while offline so if your have income. This strikes me as a cutch, so the players not good at economics but good at pvp still do well with having to do alot of merchanting. Likely a good idea but we will see.

Full looting in Earthrise will be possible, but for players who are careful or willing to spend money, it won’t be a problem. If player A kills player B, player B is resurrected at a resurrection site. If player B has insured all of his items, his former body is empty and player A has nothing to loot.

Resources in Earthrise come in two types - common and rare. Common makes all the basic gear and effect prices. Mines for common gear are attacked but mobs and effect global prices. Rare makes all the mid and end game gear and is player mined through territory control.

So you got to unlock the ablity to use the mid and end game gear and then join a guild to get it The rare materials are not on the market unless a guild sells it. This i can see will cause a big problem. So even if your at mid game you dont got mid game gear unless you get it from a guild. Then the end game guys are clearly all going to have it plus their 2-1 skill advantage.  Also if you do got the better gear you have to make enough money to protect it, hopefully this will not be an issue.

So it already looks like the system will force you into a guild, if you want any thing other then basic gear. Then still have the ganking on a 2-1 or 3-1 scale because of skill comination and gear. Over all i would say this only makes things sound a lot worse then i would have exspected.

What i think would be reasonable would mid game with about 20% advantage over begining and end game 20% advantage over mid game or some thing close to that. Clearly its far more unbalanced though.

I think you are not reading these correctly or getting the wrong idea.   This game is a skill based game.  Anything can happen.   A less experienced player can take out a experienced player if he uses his skill correctly and the more experienced player does not.  Also the less experienced player could get a lucky shot.

And no you do not have to join a guild.  You can lone wolf this game.  If a guild that is in control of a rare material does not want to share.  That area will be under heavy attack by other guilds that want those material also.  I am certain that rare material will always be on the market for a price of course.

Endgame will never come to in this game. Territorial Warfare is a never ending fight.  Also there will always be random generated quest if you have finished the storyline.

I would suggest everyone to go to the forums sit down and read all the topics in question of the week section.  Also read all the interviews.  Especially the more recent ones.forums.play-earthrise.com/index.php

I did not like the first song but I am sure I will like it once there is a visual to the song.   I really liked the second song.  If more are like that or better this might just be the first game that I actually leave the music on.  Hope we hear more song samples soon.

I'm not saying that Earthrise will not happen at all.  We're pretty much agreeing that it won't launch for Beta this year. Perhaps next or the year after.

Correct, its not all about the "eye-candy."  Great graphics and videos don't mean a game is in the works as we have seen with other titles.  But a good amount of information can be provided from screenshots as well as what has been provided.  Consider it, reading between the lines and pixels.  Stay tunned to see often at the rate of new screenshots occur.

As for the forums, I referred to the one in which my message was copied, no developer responses so far about the game platform.  Now if there has been a response about the platform and possible specs (of course likely to be high-level or generalized), then a link would be helpful.

I'm not familiar with the drama of Darkfall, other than it's fate of going live is debated.  But something to check into is what happened to Star Trek Online. As mentioned by Enigma, what has been provided so far (again, so far) is following along with what PE did with Star Trek Online.

Let's put something else forward here on the table.  The announcement of Scaleform for the UI, just last month.  If I understand this correctly, this allows the Scaleform system to be integrate the system into their own front-end, not for the company of Scaleform to install it and make it work.  Integration of 3rd party products never work the first time though when using proprietary platforms.  It takes time for full integration and proper use.  So that is another point of to use caution.  New UI system within the year of launching Beta? (This by itself, not to worry about; but hen coupled with other items..)

Unless of course, the platform was licensed or of open source to begin with...

I took it yes and I just realized my mistake and add to it. (I was tired and lazy when i made that post.)  Yes I too am intrested in hearing more from masthead about the game engine.  That is why i thought i put that post there also.  I apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes I too am a skeptic of there being a beta this year.   But i still have faith that is why i rell friends that they might have beta between autumn-2009.

Will you be able to attack people in your own faction? (i.e. become a criminal)
Earthrise PvP is all about freedom of choice, personal interest and of course - responsibility. We did not want to limit our players by setting artificial boundaries on what they can do and what they cannot, breaking the immersion that they are part of a dynamic world and forcing them to play by our rules, not theirs. Earthrise setting is edgy and competitive place and if we did have highly regulated PvP it would take away from that spirit, leaving nothing but a shell that's just like every other game on the market. So we are taking risks with making some difficult decisions that we hope will go well in their proper realization. So, to cut the introduction, the answer is YES! Players will be able to attack players affiliated with their own faction. What is very important to understand is that what you can do is not always something you can get away with without consequences. Killing people of the same faction is one of the worst crime, prosecuted by members of both Noir and Continoma. It will be very difficult for someone to clear the damning effects of such a crime, though not impossible, and his space of operation would be greatly limited in the wild, less secure areas - where he himself would taste his own medicine by being open target for other criminals. As we have already revealed, security will be provided by Guard NPCs that will act immediately on signs of violence in range. But that is not the only form of security and monitoring that will be present in the game. Often, even if there is no sudden intervention of the law, the crime will be monitored and reported and players will face repercussions later on.

Will there be PvP in Earthrise?
Yes. PvP will be an important part of the game. Players will have the opportunity to kill other players – but not without consequences.
Another PvP aspect in Earthrise will be guild rivalries. Guilds will be able to declare war on each other and fight for power and resources. Such wars will be prohibited in the security zones, but will not be punished in the other territories.
There must be a good reason for PvP players to risk everything to make a kill. What will making a PvP kill grant you?

Brannoc - *[DSotM]Malicious-Wraith* Can you explain the item loss from PvP insurance system?
[MS]Ostiak - Item loss will happen if the killed player has not insured his items or if he doesn’t want to pay a very high fee to get them back. If this happens, his items will stay on the ground and everyone can loot them

I got these off the forums and also out of the interviews.  you can also find them in the news section of mmorpg. Thought it would help people understand a lil better.  since i know most people are too lazy to actually go and read all that stuff.

this game looks interesting. i am interested.

but all i've seen are some screenshots. there doesn't appear to be any videos. and this game is coming out in a year?

this game looks like another darkfall to me. just promises and the occasional pretty screenie.

Well, the game has only recently gone into the public spotlight.  As in within the last year.  Secondly because *you* want gameplay videos does not mean that that is what they are focusing on.  I know that *I* personally can care less about gameplay video.  It is never a true representation of how a game plays and has absolutely 0 influence on my purchasing habits.

Darkfall is most likely a bunch of mularkey, give earthrise another year or two before you go jumping the gun calling it vapourware.

Guys, i don't know why you keep deluding yourselfs. This game wont see the market anytime soon if ever, and its current state is disaster. The game director make huge mistake by  announcing the project to the public, 90% of the stuff that creates all the hype is on paper, and the current developer staff are bunch of wannabe's, the only exception are the artist, some of them are real talents.

Wow you really need to get into the Earthrise Community.  Really a great crowed and I am really sure that this game will go to market.  No doubt this one will make it.    There is still a lot of things that is unknown about this game.  I think what the director is announcing is good and informative.  People need to know what this game is going to be about.  That is the whole point of announcing a game is talking about it.    Once beta start i am sure that once those videos start rolling out people will go crazy over this game.  The game has soooooo much potential.

Besides, the more I read about this game, the less and less it seems it will be the full, light anyone up and loot their corpse game some people here seem to think it will be. Game designers are smart enough to know that total, full on, non consent, lootable, PvP is going to turn off a LOT of people. So, they'll be limits.

Yeah I have to agree with that.  A full out pvp without safe zones is impossible.   I think this could be something like Eve.

Yeah I would like to see a video also.  But again the game might not come out in 2009.  A lot of mmo's don't come out on the date that was announced.  I am sure tho by the time that beta is about to start they will have some videos out.  If what people say are correct than beta should start by the end of this year.  SO they still got about 7 more months to get a video.  Tho i really like beta videos better.  So I am fine for now.

Beta?
