As for AoC being a good game...sure it was bad when it released but at least FunCom had an actual playable game whereas Mortal Online is a total fucking joke and doesn't even have 1/10th the content that AoC had during its beta and if you think I'm exagerating then you obviously have not played MO.

Also it should be noted that AoC has had over a year since release and they've actually done a lot to the game thus far...so for you to say grow up when I say AoC is a good game then I seriously have to wonder if you're a complete retard since you obviously haven't played it since beta and if you somehow think that a piece of shit like MO could improve if given a years time, then why the fuck can't Age of Conan idiot

Mortal Online doesn't have any future potential and anyone with even half a fucking brain in their head can see this...Age of Conan shits all over MO in terms of innovation...the AoC combat system alone shits all over anything that MO has done thus far...and is in fact the best combat system in any MMO to date...hands down.  I also mentioned theres still a lot of things I don't like about AoC but its without a doubt a better game than MO will EVER be.

And have you actually played MO? Have you seen the improvements that have been made to the game since the start of closed beta? Do you know of the improvements to come in the future? You just simply hate the game and just want to rage about it.

You just lose your credibility and no one will care what you say.

sadly I know...in fact I've played virtually every MMO and the only one that is currently even worth playing is age of conan and there's a ton of things I hate about the game but the combat and graphics are amazing and the pvp is really fun although almost completely meaningless

if your computer can handle it...AoC is the game to be playing and if not...then a good EverQuest free emulated server is the best choice(theres 2 really good and popular ones out right now that have big populations)

AoC was crap when it released and even worse in beta, the only good area in beta was Tortage. Now your saying AoC is the game to be playing, seriously man grow the hell up. If you can see the good in a game like AoC why the hell can't you see the future potential of MO, I'm just curious.

This is why todays gamers are idiots. They say what a horrible game it was in beta then do a full 180 and love the game in the end. Like many have done for DF.  I slightly blame the horrible 2008-2009 drought of horrible releases.  Wish people would be less trolls and full of rage. Instead be more honest and see a game for what it can be and is without bashing the game.

But really, I don't mind beta testing game as long as they continue to improve

I praise you for saying such words! If you do live up to this than MO will be good as SV does improve the game constantly and is very honest/blunt to the community. So yeah.. If you think like how you posted than go for it.

No, sorry you are wrong. I have never seen any Aion battles with about 500 people involved.

Most games out there, which claim to have massive battles are fading out character visuals after hitting a certain number.

So you won't see more than 50 people in WAR when attacking a fortress.

In Darkfall you actually see the 400 people attacking/defending the city you are in.

SHUT UP! I have seen plenty of 200+ sieges in Aion. There is sometimes soo many people that the colors above the peoples names will start to become a solid color! So yeah.. Please shush before you talk!

Many gamers don't know this but there is also math done to calculate actions and help reduce server stress.  It is all about the nodes! Than it comes down to the players computers. A really good company would use advance algorithms to help reduce server stress.  Graphics is all client side. Not server sided at all.

haha 200+ LOL, do u stand there for 1hr counting how many peopel are on screen with u while combat is taking place?  hell 2 full 40 man raids in wow can look like 400 people if they are all in the same place.  Get a grip 200 people in sieges, with lag galore lol, u must be on some seriuos Purple haze..

No not at all... I just know how to count. It might seem like there is 50 people but there is not... There is literally 200+ people there and no lag galore. Before closed beta came to the end and they dropped monster mods in the cities. There were more at least 200+ asmos in the city. Yes, there was lag but just asmos alone there were 200+ So yeah.. stop trolling and open your eyes.

 Could this get sticky?

I have to agree with poster above me. This review reeks rage and is totally biased. It also shows how much players today actually do research.

I ALWAYS whenever going to spend $50+ on a game do an extensive look into what I am actually going to currently pay for. I also take into account that games can improve and sometimes can not. So you must make a calculated risk and decide if this company is pushing out more positive patches (which it seems like they do) or push out more negative patches. It is your own fault for paying for a game that you have done very little research into.

I do not believe in refunds what so ever. The only reason why someone should get a refund is because it just simply does not work at all (do not confuse this for bugs and missing content as that to me is not considered as being broken). I am talking about a product that simply does not start up.

It is like eating something you order for and knew what you were ordering. Than find out you did not like the taste of it and decide you wanted something else.  Some people might have "thought" what they were ordering but obviously they did not. I could have told you what you pretty much just nerd raged about and have not played a single hour of it.

I do not see SV misleading ANYONE! They put out the patch notes and if you compare the patch notes to what is actually in-game at the moment they hold true to the letter. So please get real about this being a scam. There is so much info out there about the current state of the game. It is up to you the gamer to go and find it. If you do not it is your own fault for not knowing and not the companies fault.

I do not know how to stress how important it is to do a solid week or 2 weeks of research before making a purchase.

You guys are judging a game that is still in beta and still has some major patches to be release. My suggestion to anyone who is interested in buying this game after launch, don't decide by the leaked videos or people who are saying the game is crap. These next patches will change a lot and a lot of trolls can't handle that it might actually be better than DFO. SV is a solid company and they have been honest and more hard working than any other indie company that i know of.

So just wait and see what happens.

Actually hell, I looked it up myself.. LOL

That's when my friend asked me, I gave it to him not long after so probably beginning of October he got it, and played it some time after. I haven't played since October. Again -- ask the admins about the IPs that played the game. It's kind of irrelevant anyway to me. The game will crash and burn, and I'll be happy at this point to see it happen. And if i can help it along -- I will.

http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/23458-if-i-update-my-password-account-management-site.html

If the game does not crash and burn like you say, please come back and make a thread stating how wrong you were.  If you are going to make such a bold statement at least back it up.

Oh wow Herc.... you sure sound bitter. Going to other forums to talk shit about MO... really thought you wouldn't stoop that low. Oh well, good luck with your life.

Haven't been online in a while dude... work and baby keeping me busy, it's actually my birthday today so I took a day off and I'm relaxing and enjoying myself. First day in more than a month, which is why I gave away my MO account.

It's always entertaining to see the MO fanboys flock though :p

You know, it is not just MO fanboys. I am not an MO fanboy at all. If you look at my history the only game I would defend is that of Earthrise.  I just hate when people say stuff out of pure speculation and when was the last time you played MO?

You guys give no chance to a company that is doing better than AV did. They are pushing patches out and not just small patches but HUGE patches. They are actually listening to the community. o.O You guys are just that trolls. Once the game actually start doing better than DF please come back here and post that you were wrong and allow everyone to point and laugh at you.
SHOOT! From my understand they are already putting promised features in.. If I remember correctly DF did not have taming in when it was launched... Oh it also did not have player houses... Wow... that is weird... MO has that already? Does it not?
Please if you are going to be so biased leave it outside. Yes, there is a lot of bad still in MO but there was also A LOT of bad in DF. You guys are pretty much hypocrites.

Guess they finally started to use speedtree... Also they enhanced the bloom like all mad!

Link to source:Let's talk about Quests

What are the multiple types of quest systems and how do they work?

Central to the PvE experience, quests in Earthrise are designed to help introduce the players to the tense cultural and political scene that shapes the two conflicting factions fighting for control over the island of Enterra. Even though both factions get their own complex and overarching storyline filled with quests, we recognize that lore fans want to experience all sides of the story. This is one reason why we've made sure a character can experience both sides by changing their character's faction at any time (although the process is not necessarily easy, and there are other prohibitive consequences to doing so). Participants in the main storyline will allow faction members to build up a contribution score to a level where it unlocks certain faction based rewards (membership has privileges, so to speak). When you've reached a certain level of contribution, you can claim rewards from faction NPCs - it isn't currency, though.

Interested in travel and exploration? Excellent news for you - storyline quests will also take you on an explorative journey across the entire map, and into some dangerous locations of our mutant-infested island. Looking for something a bit more casual? Feel free to check out the plethora of side quests that help supplement the main storyline, as well as give you something to do for a change of pace. They're also tied into the reputation mechanics, so they're never a waste of time. In addition to the main faction Reputation system, each of the current organizations will provide a rich and varied assortment of quests, both one time only and repeatable quests (although unlike other systems you might be used to, the interval between times you can repeat a certain quest varies between daily, weekly, and the like). Completing requests for Organizations is materially rewarding, but also unlocks faction-specific reputation and favor points. While reputation points for organizations unlock access to rewards (and can only be earned the first time any quest is completed), favor points are the main "currency" used to actually purchase rewards. Rewards are genuinely meant to be earned, and players will have to work hard to gain enough favor with an organization or faction to get the very best rewards available. Favor points are not static, so choose carefully - points specific to one organization may be lost when helping out enemy organizations, so you will have to decide where you want to be, what your goals are, and who your friends will be (NPC and otherwise) on the vast and rich global political map of Enterra.

Enjoy and discuss!

Are there any recent gameplay videos or dev comments citing the differences in their "new" combat mechanics?  I'm just curious because I remember watching gameplay clips from their old combat model and shuddering.
The game overall sounds like it has a lot of potential.  Hopefully they nail it.

Here is one of the QOTW of update to the combat mechanics....

We understand that the combat system has undergone a fair number of changes over time. Can you highlight for us anything major that's been added or taken out from what's been previously announced?

While most we have announced so far has been implemented exactly up to our promise, we have been making many changes based on our own experience playing the game we're designing. One of the major changes we have definitely improved on is the control scheme which has been made more responsive and ergonomic, making it much easier to move while targeting your opponents with special abilities. Entering and leaving combat is now left to the player by choosing manually one of two control modes. Players can target their enemies using a muzzle-point cursor but can now easily switch to unlocked cursor for both shooting at any position on the screen with visibility being the only limiting factor, and also selecting and using interface items even in Battle Mode. In Exploration Mode players will move faster and be able to interact with devices and terminals but have no combat capability and would be more vulnerable. In Battle Mode players will have their armor and battle gear fully charged for combat, but will move slower to make targeting more comfortable to combatants. We have also moved from the previous implementation of locking which caused problems while targeting multiple opponents to an assisted cursor targeting which helps players lock their cursor to a target as long as they are pointing in a close enough range from them.

I would not take this into too much detail but this is the best information we got for most current targeting mechanics.

I always like that added element of danger that open pvp provides, but the ridiculous gankfests that make playing impossible (especially for new players) in eg. Darkfall is a turn off. So I'm very encouraged by this:

Open PvP poses one of the most serious challenges in MMO game design - how do you make a fun and exciting game where players have the freedom to totally wreck the game environment with destructive actions? Instead of prohibiting the PvP gameplay down to what is considered fair to everyone, we decided to allow players to act as criminals but also implemented numerous mechanics that encourage law-abiding players to profit from standing against criminals and preserving the peace and order in the game. In that regard, Earthrise is indeed aiming to position players as Player Killers vs. Player Defenders, with the Player Defenders backed by a law system and functional guards and the Player Killers having the item loot incentive to take the risks of the criminal trade.

If you have ever played EvE think of the Earthrise territories like 1.0-0.0 space. The further out you get from civilization the less guards there are and also the closer you get to player owned territories.

GAH I WANT IN ON CLOSED BETA! RAWR!!

All sadness aside, I am really happy that they are going to have some big announcements coming up soon. I am highly looking forward to those announcements and I am also looking forward to maybe a new gameplay video. Here is to the upcoming month(s).

Right now you have the following in game:

- Player Housing
- Mounts and Mounted Combat
- Crafting
- A little more than half of the first continent
- A placeholder magic system
- Creature Taming
- Various skills

All of these features have been listed under the patch notes which have been on the official site, available to the public, so I can't be breaking the NDA by listing them.

There's a patch coming monday which is supposed to introduce a lot more of the skills, guilds, a war system and a lot more.  Every patch (roughly 2 weeks apart) introduces a new system or two along with massive bug fixes/tweaks and generally new areas/content.

I'm confident that the game can release on time although I think a month or two delay would do it some good (isn't that always the case?).  It needs a little more content to round things out but every patch adds a lot so in the next couple of months before release it could become a very different game.  That's the trend it's followed so far.

Rumor has it that the NDA will be lifted with the patch coming Monday.

Thats great if they have thoes feature. but are they any good is the real question.

No. This game needs 6 months of polish at least just to be playable.

I don't think 6 months of polish will do this game any good.  The dev's are stuffing 10 lbs. of crap in a 5 lb bag.

Why are they working on taming, housing, guild stuff, and god knows what when the big three arent even finished ( combat, crafting, Mob AI ) ?

There is some very good leaks on youtube atm ( granted I don't care much for the commentary ) and this game just isn't ready for primetime.

Those leaks are crap just so you know... They are horrible examples of MO.

I firmly believe Earthrise is that sleeping Sci-fi MMo that no one expects to be successful. It will be something like EvE and have really low subs and steadly increase as the game improve and word gets out. The devs are really great at listening to the community and the community is really dedicated to the game. So.... Yeah... Earthrise...

What is Earthrise? Earthrise is a post-apocalyptic science fiction MMORPG, set in the dark future of the planet Earth. The game is designed to run on the Windows operating system, and will be launching in 2009.

Maybe, though I doubt it.. I am having a feeling q1 of 2010. However, if they do start open beta next month I will be pissed I never did closed beta!
