I totally agree.  Orcs in space is like... monkeys in space. or some form of.... new smarter monkey.  Just weird......!!!!!!!!

Monkeys in space.... pffftt!!!

Monkeys in space... There's the new ground-breaking MMO for all those who have been requesting it!

we're... evolved monkeys. same concept btw.

Since we are mammals and mammals evolved from reptiles then we have....

Lizard men in Space!

Back to Orcs in space. I can't help but think of the stupid orcy looking dudes from the 5th Element.

Difference is that Blizzard has major ties in the EU through Vivendi. Not to mention that Blizzard had a metric ton of cash to sink into EU servers while Mythic(pre-EA) did not have a ton of cash nor major ties in the EU. They picked GOA which is a company they knew could handle the server loads. If you think GOA is bad then try getting a server service through another company that has no experience with MMO sized loads and watch them crash and burn. We can hope that GOA has learned their lessons and that EA has given them some money to get better hardware/techs/etc to make WAR successful.

Life is a reset.

And Wow is an evolution of resets of individual greed. And a very good one at that.

See you back in WotLK. Because I am sure everyone will line up at midnight to get the next box of greed.

Lol you talk about life? Life is not instanced.

Life is a reset? Are you Buddhist? Ok it reset once you die.

Anyway sorry I won't see you there, not enjoy the end game content at all and not gonna spend the money for an expansion just to get a so called "hero" class which is in fact just a regular "new" class and get to lv 80 then quit again.

Stop talking about greed anyway, everyone is greedy but it has nothing to do with playing WoW.

Think the greed thing is talking about Blizzard. Blizzard has EVERYTHING to do with greed. There is getting paid for your work and service and there is Greed. Blizzard is the later.

Reason why people hate Blizzard/WoW:

1. They alienated people who like the lore by mangling it- Gnome DK ftw!

2. They alienated PvPers- Arena ftw

3. They rarely keep promises but make them all the time to quell outrage- Blink fixed yet? How about them saying Invis will be retooled and put back in game and then waited until expansion time.

4. They withhold content to keep people paying money(greedy)- BWL, C'thun, raids really.

5. They take forever to fix problems- Mana shield absorbing ALL damage took how many patches? The whole Class patches where some classes were left to wallow for a year or more. Hey does the Horde base in AV still suck? You betcha! Even after 3 revamps in the exact wrong direction they still haven't fixed it.

Just the top 5 for me but in no particular order. Honestly who wouldn't hate a company that disabled account management to keep people from cancelling subscriptions. Anyone else remember looking at WoW prior to launch and reading at how much PvP it will have?

WoW itself as a game is decent, the company behind it though leaves a lot to be desired. They could fix just about everything wrong in WoW in a month but don't because it doesn't bring in enough money to do so.

So you wanted to know why people hate WoW? Blizzard and their unscrupulous practices. If you just play the game and don't watch their forums you might never notice it but if you do then you quickly understand the pure BS they spout at every turn.

I did play WoW for 2 years and am playing EVE for a year now. And no, I aint no WoW fanboy but I do find the Blizzard style great (except for the WoW gameplay!).

What I don't understand why don't they remove the ugly screens and replace them with newer versions? Maybe even place a new version of the same screenshot with the old screenshot so people can see the progress.

For me, just like alot of others who aren't playing the beta, it's the information placed on the website that makes me decide to play or not. Placing and keeping, absolute screenshots they are giving me a wrong impression.

Really it is their fault for thinking that people could look at a date and figure out when the screenshots were taken. It was also their assumption that people could figure out that the game is still in beta and still being made! All those people who do projects and show photos of start to finish are misleading people! They might actually think that the half done project is the finished result!

I mean only Einstein himself could have figured all that out! Seriously though the screens are dated for a reason! To go back and retake all screenshots would be an annoying task to say the least. It is like asking all News agencies to go back to previous months news stories and update them with the outcome.

If you don't like the old screenshots then don't look at them. Look at the most current screenshots and thats it. They aren't giving you the wrong impression but rather you are drawing conclusions from things that are work in progress. Bottom line is you either don't like the style, which if you don't like it at this point then find another game or stop complaining, or you don't like the graphics(actual details) which are far and away better than say WoW. Armor looks like armor and not latex paint? The hell you say!

As for WoW style/graphics. I think they are the most MEH things ever. I can't say I was disappointed with them but never once in 3 years did I think they were great. You name it from color palatte to designs I could care less.

i have more respect for conan because they tried something different. Instead of click and watch they wanted you to actually feel like your contributing to the fight by choosing which direction you swing at. Also with spellweaving how doing linking spells up can create more powerful spells. Warhammer to me just said hey see this game warcraft? lets look exactly like it and improve on it without adding anything new to the genre. Oh yea lets be more about pvp to.  Whats new in it besides collision detection? i have nothing wrong with the game its just that in order to do better you have to implement new ideas to the genre. otherwise people will still be crying about grinding and the same ol crap we all love to hear.

yea i heard about the tier stuff and how the better your side does it can take over more and raid the capital of the other side or whatever. that is cool the thing is it will be the same thing over and over again once you think about it.

So you admit that Warhammer is improving on current mmo systems and instead of focusing on PvE they are focusing on PvP. Guess what? THAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT. If something is different it cannot be a clone. Owning your own argument ftw! When September comes around make sure you ask your teacher about logic and how to apply it. Every car has 4 wheels, an engine, steering wheel, gas pedal, and breaks by your logic the fact that they come in different shapes, sizes, styles, and power output doesn't matter because they are all clones.

So you can chain different spells in Conan to create more powerful spells? Well in Warhammer you can use abilities that change based on previous abilities you use. Believe the video they released aobut the swordmaster has this in it. If you put up your debuff then use a certain attack it can change the damage of that attack from say melee to spell damage. Thus making it a tactical ability since if you are fighting another tank melee might not be the best attack but magic will eat through them. DPS casters have the ability to use certain spells that increase their damage/crit  at the risk of blowing themselves up. Combo attacks are not that new.

As far as your last argument. CS has been the same for years yet people still play it.  Why? The maps might be the same but every game plays out differently. PvP is never static. City raids won't happen every day and you certainly won't take the city every time you try. Go take some music lessons and figure out why there are so few notes but millions of different songs.

Yeah lets get super graphics like from those new single player PS3-Xbox360 games! I mean dropping to 1 FPS when 5 people gather around and cast spells will be awesome!

NO amount of current techonology will allow you to run High rez, High Poly count, games with MASSIVE amounts of people around. You are naive and looking at a single person game thinking that it can be an MMO. Sorry but it doesn't work that way. In an MMO your computer needs to handle a ludicris amount of information at any given second and on top of that the more people that are on the screen fighting the worse it gets.

I know the next argument of what about FPS's. Well they have a lot less to worry about as far as computing goes. Weapon load out, character customization(if there is any), and small maps compared to entire worlds. In mmo's they have the whole world to worry about, character customization(like 10 peieces of gear, stats, spells, career mastery, etc). I am sure that an "mmo" could produce a Scenario that would give you 5 basic characters and 4-5 different spells that could run on ultra graphics settings but it wouldn 't be that fun.

If this was a SINGLE player game I would complain about the graphics. Since it is an MMO I am thinking "Holy crap those are some pretty good graphics for an MMO that is meant for large scale PvP".

Beleive me when the time comes it wont be "the graphics are crap" it will be "My game is at 1 FPS I need to turn the graphics down".

Also, as far as the artistic aspects go, seeing as I'm tired of hearing this, Warhammer is completely different from Warcraft. I'm sure you've heard this millions of times, but the character design is coming strictly from the tabletop game, as well as the classes. It should be said that Warcraft looks like Warhammer; the converse to that statement is wrong.

Can you explain to me why you have such a huge problem with the fact that WAR looks like WoW?

Warcraft looks like Warhammer = Warhammer looks like Warcraft

It doesen't matter if you play tabletop from the 80's but this game called Warhammer Online; Age of Reckoning looks alot like that other game World of Warcraft, now why does that bother you so much?

There is stigma that goes along with WoW now.  Meaning that if it looks like Warcraft that is bad.

With that being said WAR looks nothing like WoW. Anyone drawing a conclusion otherwise needs to visit an eye doctor. Characters have better proportions, things are much more detailed, the color palatte is different.

Honestly it is like comparing a truck to a minivan. They got wheels, doors, tires, and similar color paint. They look the same!

It is strange how suddenly people become video game critics off of a few minutes of video in a streaming format that doesn't give the game the credit it deserves.

People clammering over animations you won't even notice after the first 5 times of using the ability. The ground textures that you wont care about when enemies are infront of you. Targeting circles that can be turned off. The list goes on.

Bottom line is if you are looking for a High Rez super fancy head exploding graphics game then look elsewhere. The game is built for PvP and keeping animations, poly count, spell effects, etc at an accepptable level while maintaining the core aspect of the game is the most important factor. Do I care about animations? Sure to the extent that it looks like I cast a spell or swing my edged weapon. Passed that I could be swinging around a stuffed cat because I will be focusing on who to kill.

I guess I am the only one that finds those videos just fine. He swings an axe and it makes a noise...mission accomplished. The noise sounds like an axe hitting metal then A+ for the day.  Spell sounds spell like so a big gold star. Spells look like spells so scratch and sniff sticker.  You burn the building down and it not only catches on fire but people scream? Thats a cupcake!

but Holy crap the amount of pure BS people spew about graphics and animations is just hilarious. Yet you put an NES game infront of them and come back in 30 minutes and they will be playing that and not even notice you enetered the room. People are just looking for crap to nit pick; that in the end isn't the most important. Gameplay is everything and you can't say anything about that until you have played the game.

I fail to find the negative aspect to Warhammer being a game, beyond the obvious stupid fact that IT IS A GAME. Reality check: this isn't your ant colony science project, mate. No current MMO is, and don't pull that EVE or Vanguard crap on me, because it's not the same anyway.

I play single box games, I immerse myself in MMOG worlds.

There is supposed to be a difference between the two genres.

The difference is that one is massive multiplayer meaning you can have 5000 other people in the game with you and the other is a singleplayer.  Reguardless of how much of the "world" is actually playable every game creates a world in which the events happen. I think of HL 2 here.  You cannot go wherever you want but you get a feel what the world the characters live in.

You can immerse into any game you want single player or multiplayer.  Immersion is not something limitied to MMO's.

BTW they are talking about the fact that it isn't a go an\ywhere you want  world. There is a Warhammer world but they streamline the experience so you aren't runnning through a forest that is of no importance with no mobs in it.

Sorry, but this is clearly a scam.  Shame on EAMYTHIC, I expected more from them.  They've been SO tight lipped about this comic deal, because they know they f'ed it up and they're clearly embarrassed about it.

It isn't a scam. It's just that people are to dumb to read the writing on the wall and understand how things work.

There are NO minimum requirements available because Mythic doesn't even know what those are. You start with High End machines and work your way down. So Mythic cannot give out requirements that they don't even know yet.

Second their Beta system Works like this.  Current System Requirements > Associations.  That means that you could have all the associations in the world, associations being attended an event, CE pre-order, veteran newsletter, BOOM beta code, etc, and you still wouldn't get into beta until they lower the reqs. Once you meet the current requirements then they go by how many or which associations you have. So if you have a BOOM code and meet Reqs you will get in over another person who meets the reqs but only has veteran newsletter.

However that system will change when they do Open beta where anyone with the proper associations can play the beta reqaurdless of the Reqs.

So those that do have  a Boom code WILL get into beta. It just happens sooner when you meet the current testing reqs. Far from a scam. A scam implies you were cheated out of something. They said you could get into beta and you will just takes time.

Correct.

Warhammer is Age of loading screens all over again...

No copies of zones (what a relief !)  but even the final city fights are ..... instanced.

It looks that WotLK will be the ONLY new fantasy game with real open world PvP.

Rejoice old gamers of DAoC !!!

You realize that WoW servers can not handle a 100 vs 100 battle . Go watch some of the videos of city raids crashing servers.  If you are an old WoW player maybe you remember the AQ gate opening.  Imagine getting to the gates of the enemy city and the server crashing and reseting to where you have to retake thigns to try again. It wouldn't be fun. Also operating at a slideshow framerate is not particularly fun when your city is on the line.

As for WotLK. Open world PvP? Just like Halaa? Thought I heard something about them putting a time limit on when the battles can happen there just like the spirit towers. Heard Season 4 is coming out soon as well...go enjoy that open world pvp! OH WAIT.

God.. they are terrible. Ok ok it's beta. Let's wait.

You're quite the negative person, I've come to notice. If you don't like the way the game looks now, I don't think you'll like the way it looks at launch, either. Sure, it is beta, and graphics will improve, but only slightly so, through improved lighting, textures, and shadows. You sound like you really just don't like the art style at all, and that is game breaking for you.

That's fine. But look elsewhere. I'd rather one less hater here at launch. I don't think Warhammer is the game for you, and you would be better spending your energy elsewhere instead of being disgruntled here all the time.

Thanks but no, I will rather play WAR if I want, and say my opinion about it if I want to, of course respecting everyone.

To be more positive, I'm sure I have seen better SS than those ones. Hope they weren't fake (oh dear, there I go again... sorry )

Dare I ask what you think is terrible about them before I assume you are just trolling? If your go to excuse is WoW then go see the other comparison thread and eat your words. If you say it isn't top of the line graphics then wrap your head around large scale combat and it slowing top end computers down to 1 fps. The art style fits warhammer perfectly so get passed that.

So really what is terrible about it?

Going by what has gone before it is highly unlikely that WAR will release without certain bugs, lack of polish etc. These games never do.

Further to that all the games are more or less the same, WoW, AoC, WAR, EQ2, etc.

with a few different features between them.

Same game different skins, maps and classes.

Yeap, same shiit different pile.

Wowwwww hey yeah you guys are geniuses. They're basically all the same with just little variations here and there! They all also have many people playing them, some of them have instances more than others, all of them have some type of leveling or achievement system...wow...MAYBE that's why they're in the SAME market?? They're all MMORPGs!?!?!?

Hehehe.

Yeah, and Campbell's  isn't the only one that makes soup too you know.

Still soup isn't it? Unless you want to change it so much you call it "stew" or something.

There is also vishiswa, consume, miso etc.

Guzpacho, tomato, cream

I had a soups and sauces teacher once ask the class what the difference between a soup and sauce was. Bonus points for anyone that can guess the answer.

Why not take it further!  Humans are mammals and so are lions. Therefore under their logic humans are exactly like lions! Don't forget giraffes and Rhinos too!

When you try to not focus on what makes things different then of course they will seem exactly the same and for doing so you are ignorant.

Beta 2 (June, 1000 invites)

Beta 3 (Late June, July, August. up to 10,000 invited)

Open Beta (Early Sept: All CE Preorders)

Release : Everyone can play (Est. End Sept)

We are fast approaching Beta 3. This should be all the Boom folks.

Hopefully beta 3 is when we start to see some high res screenshots.  For now I remain skeptical of whether a high res client even exists.

Why wait for the high Rez client. You won't be PvPing with High Rez on anyway. Maybe to enjoy the PvE? But if that is indeed the case there are better games for that with better graphics. PvE really defeats the whole purpose of what the game is about though.

Bottom line is that ANYONE that says WAR looks like or worse than WoW has no clue. It isn't even close. Take a look at some of the Beta update pics.

Animations? Have you seen all the animations? Didn't think so.  I never understood this one personally. Are you looking for particle effects shooting out of everything? When they cast a fireball it looks like a fireball. When you slash in melee it looks like you slashed. What more do you want?

As for the an advanced looking game, get a console. You WILL NOT find an MMO that is running highest graphics available that will be fun and playable in a massive multiplayer environment. Sorry soon as you get 40 people on the screen all casting spells and using abilities with things like collision detection in place your game is going to go into a standstill slideshow. How good are your graphics when its running at 1 FPS?

I think more people need to take business classes and they sure as heck need to be in the High School lesson plans.

You see the point of a business is to make money. If you don't make money your company fails and goes under.

EA is a company first and foremost. It doesn't matter if they produce games or widgets the objective is money just like EVERY company out there. Companies look for any place they can either cut costs or make extra money to offset the costs of making their product.  Ads/sponsors are one way for companies to offset costs or make a greater profit. I don't see you boycotting movies, TV, websites, etc.

As far as boycotting a company? I think you really need to look at just how big and different the parts of EA/Sony are.  Not to mention that EA just changed CEO and he changed the focus of EA to creating quality games instead of just pushing games out. As for Sony look at SWG and EQ2. They completely ruined SWG but they made EQ2 so much better. If you don't like a game don't buy it but I am not going to deprive myself playing a game I might like because it is made by a certain company.

Personally i can't even remember 5 commercials I watched tonight let alone an ad I have seen in a game.

BTW you are blasting PS3 and EA but what about Microsoft? Have you played Halo 3? That game can stand up to any EA sequel push out on the suck-o-meter. Not to mention the hardware issues, HD-DvD drives, and the PAY to play online. I hate Microsoft but if their console had games that I wanted to play I would buy one.
