Shadowrun is so sadly underused or misused. The two 16-bit console games are quite good, but after that, nothing. Oh, then they decided to make that idiotic multiplayer 360 game (???????). I just don't get it. I had thought it would be the perfect license for an mmo since UO. The UO version of course would have had a nice dynamic world, with corps rising and falling constantly, where they are mostly run by players, and with various sabotage missions you can take on between them that hurt a corps bottom line. Oh man, freaking sweet.

Nowadays, it would be a collection of instanced group quests, but even then I think the license fits perfectly. There can be a couple quest lines for each corp along with some pvp missions that you can just run over and over and earn some nice nuyen with. Just having a matrix guy disabling cameras and opening doors while your dps/cyber blasts away the oncoming guards, while your mage sits there building up his ultimate spell; OMG.

Why is no dev working on this? Seriously? They are stuck with the hero's journey, which is about the WORST storyline hook to build an mmo on. Lets see, heros journey = begining and end; mmo = never ending. HJ = small group of protagonists, usually one; MMO = 10,000 protagonists per server. HJ = world starts in crisis, ends with evil defeated; MMO = evil is constant. Why is everyone stuck making hero's journey MMO's? It's backward. And fantasy is the traditional hero's journey genre. Not that every fantasy mmo is based on this story, but most are.

Notice how eve is sci-fi (traditionally faction warfar/ongoing war sort of stories) and not based on the hero's journey.

I would totally work on a Shadowrun game if I had a brilliant team (to do the license proud) and the license itself. Maybe some years down the road if I ever finish my sci-fi/fantasy game (not hero's journey at all, of course), I will have some clout and experience to do this. It could happen!

Because Microsuck has the license. There was an indy dev team working on a Shadowrun mmorpg, and they even had Microsucks' permission. However, Microsuck suddenly put a cease and desist order on them. Soon afterwards, the failed Shadowrun FPS was announced by Microsuck and then released to total floppage.

Since I'm on the "Do not call" list here in California, the telemarketers who do call are informed of the $11,000 fine they just incured due to FTC regulations. And yes, I'm asshole enough to take the time to complain.

Funnily enough, the few marketing calls that were still coming through stopped.

sorry zorvan, wrong G.P.U. to make yours work you need to find a head of a game company,( that you don't like or who are mercilessly hunting you down to force you to sub again or didn't deliver on there promises) who is wandering around out in the open, then you need to remove the G.P.U. from your computer and while driving by, throw it at the back of there head, 10pts if you hit dead on and 5pts if you just clip an ear, good luck and don't miss, it can get expensive to keep trying.  :)

You get a +10 for playing along. You are indeed a good man.

The next contest will be T.O.T.S.

It will be aimed at those under the age of 10 who wish to be in gaming. SOE will be giving out allowance scholarships of 1 year supplies of Baskin Robbins ice cream. In turn, as G.I.R.L. allowed SOE a glimpse  of the female gamer perspective, T.O.T.S. will give SOE a glimpse of the core WoW player, allowing SOE to be that much closer to finally making a WoW clone from scratch, instead of trying to manipulate existing games into such.

Stay tuned for more details at your next PTA meeting.

Note: This is a satirical post. No WoW players, young or old, were harmed during the typing and posting process.

Yes, i agree with him, but that doesn't change the fact that this post isn't needed since it neither has to do nothing with the game nor it will make trolls realise something.

<modedit>

Funny, I see the word Darkfall three times in his post. So it relates to Darkfall. And he gave an opinion about the trolling in the Darkfall forum.

Seriously? They don't have the money to buy those guys time, or opinions in some cases. If they had the money I doubt the game is complete enough to show it to them. It's not a realistic expectation.

As for giving out the client who the hell does that pre release? No one. People load demos up on their boxes and take it wherever and play on closed servers or play from the office. That's how it's done.

After 7 years and six months before supposed release, I'd say it's a damn fine realistic expectation. And I highly doubt if they were to call up Jon or any of the others at mmorpg.com and say "Would you play our game and let people know it's real?" that mmorpg.com would turn them down.

I don't hate WoW.

But I hate the effect WoW had on our genre.

It used to be that developers were satisfied as long as they had a good enough population to fill their little online world. 100,000 people total playing was more than enough. The developers spent more time focusing on making the world and keeping the players happy. And we as players had tighter communities where we actually sought each other out just to have fun together, instead of just to get that one difficult quest and then go back to solo. We had fun together, joked and chatted, explored just for the sake of exploring.

Then WoW hit.

Suddenly, you needed several million players to be considered a success. You needed the potential of several million players to even get funding. So obviously, you had to be like WoW. Or so the devs thought ( and think ).

No more tight knit communities, no more exploring just to explore. Just wave after wave of easy mode quests so the FPS, console, and twenty minutes a day average Joe can have what they want immediately. Being reduced to "noob" status if we want to enjoy the scenery instead of joining the millionth scheduled raid for that +1 epic sword of e-peen.

No more devs making worlds strictly the way they wanted, and being happy when a 100k of us decided we liked it there. Now the games have to be made casual friendly or die. No more "worlds", no more "rpg". Just online games.

But she wants her email removed because of spam so I edited out her email in my posts and will edit it out in the picture.

I suggest everyone else who quoted me with her email in it to edit it out.

I'd like to be the first to apologize, Freemason. I recieved a reply from her in regards to my e-mail inquiry substantiating your claims. It would not have been the first time someone tried to make up false info and e-mail correspondence to validate their claims, as I have dealt with just this sort of thing before with Mourning/Thrones of Chaos and Dark and Light. But in this instance it appears that I jumped the gun. I am sorry.

Why does Tasos / Aventurine always invite unknown people to look at Darkfall in Greece?

They never invite any people from places like Gamespot or IGN or PC gamer etc. You know REAL industry people.  All anyone would have to do is connect to their client / world remotely. It's not like it's even a big hassle to do.

Because who are any of you people really? I can't say I know any of you personally. You sure as hell don't know me. Seriously who is going to trek all the way out to Greece at their own expense that anyone actually knows?

How about Gamepro, PCGamer, mmosite, mmorpg.com, hell friggin' Gamespot? Any of them would look at the game if asked, yet ( surprise ) Tasos relies on total "nobodies".

OP have some serious problems. Why go through all this trouble making fake e-mails just to bash some coming MMORPG?

How do I have serious problems? I simply emailed an editor who visited them to get some info. Where exactly did I "bash" anything???

Fake emails? I think you're the one who has serious problems if you think my emails are fake.

My correspondence is 100% legit and i did nothing wrong.

If these are indeed legit, did you ask the young lady if you could paste her e-mails all over cyberspace? I doubt it, and that is wrong. Anyway, guess we'll see if she's perturbed at you or not, as I'm sure she'll know who she was talking to if those are indeed from her.

As for the headers, guys, do you even know how they work? They differ like that quite often if the person is using different computers/clients e.g. home/office. Not to mention you have all the means to check if he lies, but you'd rather just not try it in case he doesn't ;)

Oh, and yes it could be Polarization, there's not many people who would spend so much time "investigating", but in that case I am again amazed by his trouble to "prove" that the game is self-funded. Thanks Sherlock, I knew that since 2004.

Actually, I just fired off an e-mail to { Mod Edit } with a link to this thread as well as copies of the "supposed" e-mails.

So we shall see.

Holy moly bat man. You're a headcase.

Check it out. This is the extent that DF fanboys will go to for Darkfall.  Even disbelieving facts.

You're posting someone's email address on a forum and asking people to email it.

That's not a nice thing to do, especially if you are fibbing.

Also happens to be against this sites' rules.

Amazing that in an e-mail, she would say she saw the game, but in the article, she clearly states the only thing she did was talk to them for four hours in a conference room.

Nice try, but we've already dealt with that article before when fanbois tried to submit it as proof. The woman saw nothing, they took her in a room and talked.

By the way, you forgot to make the headers match on both the e-mails. Noob.

Instead you guys need to worry what your current MMO can do better so AOC dosnt take every last sub they have. Funcom is the most loyal company to their subscribers and does a way better job at communicating than any other MMO company has ever done.

So ask yourself when is Funcom gonna buyout whats left of Blizzard and SOE very soon I am thinking.
