Do you go up to them and tell them how pointless their conversation is? I appreciate what the OP has done; he's sharing his experience. That's all. It's not nearly as bad as some people on social networking sites that really do update their status every 15 minutes. The more I hear about Darkfall, the more I'm willing to give it a go. |

Both games are in Beta. Let me say that again for emphasis: Beta. Impression? What kind of impression can you get from a game that is still in the design and implementation phase? This kind of stuff cracks me up, really it does. I can't imagine someone even thinking they should post something like this because it does NOTHING to further the MMO industry. |

Someone's never played WoW before? It seems like everyone on planet Earth has at some point in time played the game. It seems like babies are being born that have played WoW. My advice: thottbot. It's really helpful if you're stuck on something. Aside from that, just get in the grove and enjoy the game. I had fun with it for 8 months or so when it first released. |

I find it hard that "most" players care about the MMO lore
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/10/09 7:37:57 PM
I really enjoyed Asheron's Call when it first came out. I played it constantly and could never get enough. I feel lore is very important in a game as it's what gives a game its depth. Knowing what happened to who and when is integral to progressing the plotline that can be unique to a character. |

What will you do when War's funeral is taking place?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 11/10/09 2:36:05 AM
Nothing. I don't care because I don't play the game. I checked out the trial but it didn't interest me enough to stay. There are those who enjoy the game, more power to them. I know what it's like to lose a game so I don't wish that sort of fate on anyone, regardless of the game. I find it pitiful to wish ill will towards someone simply because they like a game. |

Champions Online: Bill Roper on Blood Moon
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/26/09 10:00:34 PM
I just picked the game up yesterday and am having a great time with it. I think I'm even sucking my wife into the game which will be great because she's very picky when it comes to any video game. I like + she likes = super win. I don't care who's making the game. People can screw something up, learn from it and come back to really rock you. As for their Customer Support; outstanding. I had a beef with only getting 30 days on my account when it said I get 60. Called them up and the fixed it no problem and guess what?! The guy spoke fluent english! No outsourcing of CS! If I hit 40 in the next 4 weeks and find absolutely nothing to do, oh well. I paid $40 and had excellent entertainment for a whole month. |

I eat my words & sneak out the door with a bottle of J Walker.

It's always good to hear about someone finding something that they enjoy doing. Be damned what other people think. I've just started playing Free Realms. I thought it wouldn't be fun because it's geared towards children but I like how the game helps you out and you can teleport all over the place instead of running everywhere. There's the option to just run there but the game itself will autorun for you. I myself am tired of waiting and waiting on the next great game to come out. I think it's just time to settle for something. |

Alganon: Enter To Win A Closed Beta Key!

Make sure you scrutinize the check boxes at the end. One of them was to allow e-mails from NCSoft and not QOL (makers of the game)! |

Players with impaired cognitive abilities?

So I read everything and I completely understand the whole harsh enviroment and the natural selection, etc, etc. My only problem though is that these occurences don't happen consciencesly. They all happened as a matter of consequence rather than someone forcing them to die out. My point is, we like to say we are a highly developed culture. Elephants grieve their dead but they don't hold ceremonies or bury their dead thus they have no human characteristics. Our closest biological cousins, homo-erectus, were they human? What makes us human then? My point is that a person with disabilities, is yes a leg down on the evolutionary track. But, as humans, why should we fall to a lower level and not show compassion for someone who is cognitively lower than us rather than disregard them as fodder. It seems like you're saying that we can be mean just for the sake of it. You say to stay in safe places, but why are those places even unsafe to begin with? Why do we feel we can do whatever we like without consequence over the web. I've seen it happen to many times were things said online are caught up to people in life and then they have no excuse but to say sorry and realize the effect of their words or actions.
I can see where Plasuma is coming from; regardless of a person's cognitive abilities, if they are unable to game the way that I like gaming (depending on the game and mood), then I'm not going to group with them. Plasuma never once stated that they would harass/spam/flame/tease/torture, etc a person with less cognitive function than them. Neither would I. Just because I wouldn't want to group with someone like that doesn't mean I'm going to become hostile towards them. Plasuma is also not disregarding a person with decreased mental capacity as fodder, they are stating that they wouldn't group with them. Should everyone be forced to group with someone that could possibly decrease their enjoyment with a game? I don't think so. Should those with a disability have an identifying icon in their name so that everyone knows that this person has special needs and requires to be treated different from the rest of the players? The reason why we can do pretty much what we want on the web without consequence is because there really are none (barring specifically illegal activities i.e. piracy, certain forms of pornography, cyberbullying, etc). I'll illustrate what I mean: Person A pisses off Person B - Person B iggy's Person A. Person B never has to listen to Person A again and Person A is not affected by the iggy because there's plenty of people out there. If Person A happens to possess the capacity to get ignored by an entire server, there are other servers for Person A to annoy. If Person A manages to get ignored by every single player on every single server then there are other games for Person A to play (and should be put in the Guiness Book of World Records for this amazing accomplishment). This is also not taking into account the multitutes that join games each day. In other words - "It takes all kinds." There are people out there that are not going to want to group with said person, yet there are people out there who would want to group with said person. No one is really saying that those with decreased cognitive function are unwelcome in any MMO. There are people saying that they're not going to group with certain people based on a certain criteria. The criteria is going to be different for everyone but the basis is still the same - "Will this person hinder my enjoyment?" Different people qualify their enjoyment of a game based off different standards. Some may enjoy running through instances as fast as possible, others may enjoy taking their time. Those that like to take their time will group with like minded individuals, same goes for those that speed through. Everyone has a different view of the world, be it virtual or reality. What one person experiences is often not what another person experiences. A person with reduced cognitive function may not even notice the reluctance of someone not wanting to group with them. Basically put, people should be allowed to play the game how they want to play it without too much restriction/control placed on a player (some restriction should be placed on griefers, spammers, cyberbullies) because those restrictions and controls make it increasingly difficult to suspend disbeleif and enjoy the game. For those that are saying it's "just a game", you're absolutely correct. It is just a game, so why get so upset over how another person plays the game? |

I am slightly amazed at how many people are saying that this game will fail. There's absolutely no way of knowing becuase this game is in BETA. You want global PvP? Why not play Darkfall? I hear there's plenty of that in there. I think this game is going to do successfully enough for an Indi developer. I've taken a look at all the videos and am excited to try this game. If I don't make it into the beta, then I'll definetly be checking it out when it hits the shelves. Mind you, last game I actually purchased off the shelf was WoW when it first came out and only played that for a year. If you haven't checked out the video featuring the developer tools, do! It's absolutely amazing from a programming perspective. |

Got the game last Tuesday, and stopped playing today (4 days)
General Discussion « Darkfall 4/12/09 12:23:53 AM
Thank you for this review. I've been thinking of trying this game out one of these days but now I'm more than likely not. It sounds like a very excellent game for the hard-core pvpers and a not so excellent game for those who like to get immersed, relax and enjoy playing. |

Ok, forget about it being a virus. This game just sucks period. I decided to go ahead and disable my antivirus and check this out. Total waste of time. This game should not even be in a beta stage, it's more like Alpha. I'd go into it more but it's not even worth my time to bash this game. |

I'm not sure if this is happening with anyone else and there's no real way for me to find out besides asking you folks here. Googles doesn't come up with anything useful, this topic hasn't been created yet, and I refuse to join a forum for a game that is detected as a virus. The issue I'm having is with Avira. When I downloaded the game, it was fine but when I go to install it, Avira goes crazy. Is anyone else having this issue or shall I just steer clear from this one? |

Heck yeah, I remember playing AC when it first came out. I'd love to see what it looks like with my new system. What server are you people on? I wouldn't mind a head start to get back to where I was before I stopped playing.

Getting new rig real soon!!!! Please help!
General Discussion « Age of Conan 4/07/08 10:52:17 AM
I still can't believe that you haven't made a decision yet. I gave you that crap about going with the other one besides newegg just to frustrate you and pull your hair out. Why? Because if you're going to be playing AoC, you're going to have to make decisions for yourself and stop asking everyone elses opinion like a little girl. AoC is for men that have hair on their chest, not little girls who like pink.
Just get the damn newegg one and let this thread die.

i know that newegg is absolutely great, i've ordered quite a bit from them in the past. they provide top-notch customer support and everything. still, i'd go with the other one.

go with the cyberpower one.

I just read all 4 pages of people talking about their own hardware. No one has even considered this game failing due to their hardware. I'm sure the majority of computers can handle this game. It might not be on the highest setting available, but it should handle it. One of the points where most MMO's fail is server-side where their own hardware isn't up to the task of handling thousands of different connections. How many of you will stay on a server if there's constant lag? No one? Thought so. One of the other points where most MMO's fail is where the staff is unable to generate new and interesting gameplay in a timely manner. That and when customer support is non-existent. How many of you have had to deal with SoE? How'd it turn out? |
