All Your History: MMO, a trip down memory lane..enjoy !
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/14/11 10:44:13 PM
Well, you can split hairs all day long. I beta tested and was addicted to (in my opinon) the first game that started it all. Meridian59 Then a couple of years later I sat at my computer and hit the "logon" key for a long time till finally I got through to EQ when that game was released. Those were the days... but those days are gone never to return. I am just glad I was there to experience them. I still remeber standing in the store debating which to buy. The Commodor, or the Coleco computer. Old gamer dude. |

Well, I am a old dude. My son and I beta tested "basically" the first online game. Meridian59. When EQ came out I sat at my computer launch day and hit "log on" for about two hours. When I finally got on I was breathless. <grin> At one time I had three computers going to take the "Fin camp" in Camelot when a full group of six. I think a factor most people neglect to talk about is the "New" factor. Back in the day everyone was full of excitment and a newness that allowed for commrodery and helpful personas. Things (for lack of a better word) were inocent as we all learned together. I am currently playing Eve. (Just started) and personally, I don't think the mentality of the old days will return. Those were happy by-gone days. I have lost intresst in online gaming but might try Guild wars two. Looks like potencial. Game till you bleed |

No matter what you write someone has a attitude even if it's unmerited. Just simply a opinion that I want to throw out there. I beta tested the very first online game to start the explosion. Am a old dude. Have a killer game machine have killer internet conection. Not a brag, just a background statement to allow all to know where I am am. I truly wish the concept of one class or one skill set would come back. Remeber the old days when to put together a custon group and most effective group against some perticular mob that would need a stradigy to bring down? A little forsight or planning. A stradigy if you will. Please forgive my spelling as I realise my weakest point is indeed spelling. To be perticular in one skill or talent which would really differentiate the individuals of the player. Wouldn't it be neat to see two "enchanters" and maybe see one that was a bit more skillfull and more desirable? And another old school action that I miss, it's the kindness and willing to help others. We all learned together. We all helped each other. People probably will read this and wonder what the point is. There is no point. I'm simply sharing my thoughts and reminessing. Bad people do bad things.... GOOD people can do bad things. It'd really not that difficult to be kind. <smile> I hope you all have a good and Godly day, as what value is a good day, it it'd not also a Godly day. And remember, Game till you bleed! :) |

What is this first thing? Being a old, unhip man news to me.... Like as being first to post? What? Are you ten years old? <smile> |

You are right about one thing. I acually was thinking to myself, "Why bring this up"? It is pointless. Guess I was bored. The topic has been way over done and who gives a hill of beans? Really was pointless of me to even mention this. I was suprised becuase for the most part I don't get involved in forum discusions, they seem to just be a rattling of back for forth unresolvable nothingness. :) Have a groovy day . :) |

It never ceases to amaze me how this topic is even brought up, let alone how many times it's addressed. I have played since the very first online game was brought online. I learned from the old days when things were all new to all people. Everyone played their own sex, as that was just the natural thing to do. I learned my lesson very early on when I was flirting with a dude that I thought was a chick in the game EQ. Since most guys learned that they could bamboozle other dudes into giving them free stuff if they played a chick and batted their eyes at them, that's when I believe it all started. Personally I could give a care. Not important. The only slant that I might be considered having is in my mind, it's somewhat deceitful. I know a lot of people wont agree with me, but the point I'm making is basically now I just assume all chicks are dudes. Makes it easier that way. But for goodness sakes, these are simply computer games and made to entertain us. These are not some altered real life experiences. I often wondered how these scantily dressed toons have much protection against mobs. LOL. I personally would want as much protection against having body parts torn off me. Take this post with a grain of salt and nothing in it is anything but expressed options' of myself. (Which don't account for a hill of beans anyway) Lets all have fun out their till, “Game Over” |

I remeber in the old days, smashing the keys in anger and trying to log on. Now I laugh at myself to have been once in that state of mind. It's a "computer" game, not a heart transplant. But then again, those were the days when your life did indeed revolve around EQ. lol Glad I grew up. |

Wish they would delete the f-words from posts. My personal feelings are a immoral one. But even an atheist should be offended as the juvenile, and lack of proper expression shines through with the excessive use of the F-word. Maybe the world has gotten to the cesspool satuation that the f-word is now the new common form of a adjective |

So glad I read your artical. (I barely read any) I feel not so alone now. I couldn't agree with you more. You explained it well, and it hit home to me. I beta tested the very first online game and I happen to be a old dude. But when you type everyone is the same age. The girl thing must get very old too. In the olden days, guys were idiots (most still are) and would make fools out of them selves with female toons. Now I just assume every female toon is a dude. Makes life easier. lol Game till you bleed. |

Seems simple enough to me. You don't manufacture a car without wheels and send it out the door. We all know the story. Way to many games have been released when they shouldn't have. I think the entire gaming world is quite fed up with it. Let the people do thier jobs and send it out the door when the majority of players will send out praise instead of riditcule. Game till you bleed. |

I agree with the original poster. Since I have played online games from when I I beta tested the very first one, I have been losing any intresst in prerelease video or info. How many let downs does it take to create skepticism ? I still pop on here with the faintest hope that maybe a good online game might someday be invented. :) Untill then, game till you bleed. Old dude |

The starting post hit the nail right on the head. It was like I wrote it. I had also pre-ordered, but after reading so many negitive things lucky for me I could cancil and get my money back. Been playing online games since the very first one and over the last few years have basically lost intrest. Hoping Guild Wars is good,. But basically I beleive in life , you get what you pay for, With Guild wars being free I am a little leary as it is free. . |

Well, I have a killer system (somewhat) killer internet connection. Was really hoping to play this game. I have been around the gaming since I beta tested the very first online game and realize you read between the lines and take peoples opinions with a grain of salt. But with this many people saying this many negative things about this game. It is obvious it's "Game Over"
Makes me sad too |

This is s joke right? Who in their right mind would do this? oh wait. This is a joke , never mind. |

From what I've read, I know I wont buy it. But to all that do. Have fun and enjoy! We all have different likes and dislikes so go for it. |

For goodness sakes.... Is (or should it be a problem to at least see the difference between a man and a woman?"\Gosh. One might think the problem wouldn't be wther or not to tell if it's a man or a woman. That's sad to me... |
