Lack of endgame? Hell - this gilded turd lacked any real content after you hit level 30-odd and got te signature skill for your branch of the sparse skill-tree It had some serious potential - but wasted it trying to appease the Garriot fanbois and by getting shoved out the door well before it was ready. had the devs actually listened to the people trying to give them suggestions on how to improve their offering instead of pandering to the sheep it could have become something fantastic As it was? coldsauce -=A=- |

General: Eight Games Fit For Resurrection
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/25/10 6:51:09 AM
If TR was to make a successful return to existance it would need at least another year in the oven before it could possibly be considered 'done' the zones were tiny, the mobs boring and the fights predictable. crafting was a joke the skill tree was barren and there was absolutely no point to levelling after you hit 30 and got your class'es signature move not that there was any content above level 40 anyway
No, that gilded dropping should stay dead |

LFG + WoW == Dungeon Runners with better graphics

At least it certainly feels that way Not that I'm dissing it, mind, I rather like being able to level my alts quickly and get decent gear for them along the way, but it certainly does bring a bit of a DResque feel to the game. Dungeon after dungeon, zerg-rush after zerg-rush, combined with the breath of fresh air you get when you hit a new dungeon in the list I just hope that the levelling rate I'm getting stays constant - 2 levels per 3-4 hours a night is pretty good -=A=-

shameless bump for a thread that deserves to be on top of the stack |

The game is dead. it's never coming back, time to close the door on the oven, turn the temp up to cremate, and scatter the ashes in Garriott's wheaties
Nice going Dick, next time try harder and suck less

it wasn't worth the asking price for the sub - esp as it was basically pay-to-beta After level 30 you had nothing else to do but kill the same mobs over and over again till level cap no end-game content skill tree was so sparse as to be barren crafting was a joke swingeing balancing and rebalancing of the only fun classes in the game released far too early garriott blaming the beta-testers who told him and the devs that this would fail if released when and how it was only a single quest chain for all classes over-hypped and under-delivered too many fanboiz I could go on, but those are the main points |

I'll bet they are shivering in their boots for fear that the lost revenue will bankrupt the company |

Richard Garriott on Closure of Tabula Rasa - GameDaily

Hitting its stride?
wtf is that man smoking? It staggered out of beta, limped along with nothing more than vapourware and false promises for a year, then had life support pulled to let it die the ignoble death everyone bar the most rabid fanboiz predicted.
If Dick had paid attention to what was going on with the game that had his name splashed all over it, instead of having his head firmly jammed up his nethers in his race into space, then perhaps TR wouldn't have failed so epically. But no, mr. space tourist was too busy throwing pyjama parties and riding vomit comets to notice how badly TR was sucking.
Perhaps next time, when the beta testers tell the devs that the game they are working on needs more time, more content, and a lot more polish, they'll listen
yeah, right |

What did I say, a year and a half ago, when this was pushed out the gate broken and unfinished? I said it would never reach its 2nd birthday, and I was right
Have that all you Garriot fanboiz, perhaps next time the devs will actually listen to the people telling them their product needs for more loving, and less time listening to the fanboiz blowing warm fuzzy smoke up their nethers
I love being vindicated

TR failed because it was released too early, too empty, and cost too much on a regular basis it simply wasn't worth the ongoing subscription cost if they cut the monthly fees in half people would go back, though they'd only stay till they'd levelled all alts to 50 and had nothing else to do I like the idea of releaseing the code to the community - and open source version of TR woul end up rocking |
|
|
quelle surprise perhaps if they had actually listened to people other thanthe rabid fanbois during beta and kept it in the oven for another 6 months (at least), it wouldn't have failed gotta say this to all the fanbois crying into their pillows I TOLD YOU SO!!!

if they have announced that this will be available around christmas - expect it to arrive sometime in the third/fourth quarter 2009, and be incredibly watered down to insignifigance
I've seen too much empty vapour to believe this will happen in any timely manner |

too much vapour, not enough content
pretty much sums it up in a nutshell |

vapourware
I'll not believe a damned thing coming out of the dev team until it's actually live on the production servers
their track record on delivering promised additions/improvements/content has been dire
