My God, what have MMOs become?

lol yeah. that is kinda defeating the purpose of an MMO... I dont know, I might try Trail I might not. Is it mostly people solo'ing and PvP from time to time?

I think NeoCron has a pretty good endgame... even when u kap u dont stop advancement. I dont think i've ever "end gamed" another game. most have some what decent story lines but higher levels tend to be borning to say the least and never got to the end.. or as someone said, the prize at the end just wasnt interesting enough and to much focus on building the middle of the game and not the end...

that might be people norm to work from Start to Finish in place of making sure the end is good or great then filling in the rest. I truely believe coders get tired and the laziest shows up torwards the end which is most of the time the most buggest (if u've ever noticed).

aion bad graphucs?

Short answer: No.  The art style is the same but the quality isn't. Most F2P games arrive in the west a few years later then it first launched so they are already outdated by the time english folk get to play.. O.o

I play AoC a bit again, and yes the graphics are great, are they better? Not really, they are more demanding, but Aion's textures look positively delicious. If you look at the fauna in AoC or Dreamfall, it's not all that great. So while Aion's models are less intensive on your system the combination of awesome texturing and lighting effects is really what makes the difference.

Not to mention that F2P doesnt get great updates at all.. unlike P2P

Thats not true. I play many F2P MMOs that get updates on a regular. Witha few decent content packages here and there. I just say finding a good "free" MMO like that is rare at best... Mabinogi does a good job if thats ur taste in game.. very RPGy though.

As for the graphics, I'll assume its based on your personal settings and what runs best on your PC. So odds are it wont look as good on your komputer... less u have the best of the best system but even that might not factor in,some games just run funny on certain komputers. lol

Also: Not that its new or anything, but NeoCron has went F2P and offers more content then any game I've ever played tbh. Its a lil mix-up on whats going on. But the game is free u just pay for the license. I think thats 9.99 or something.. im not sure. Its worth it.

Everyone who bought the game and paid monthly fees IMO go ripped. Thats why I never bought the game.. always had something funny about it..

Sad too kuz the graphics are nice, it moves smooth and its generally fun to play just lacking content.. at least for a game of this level and still have the nerve to be P2P *shrugs*

IF YOU DON'T LIKE TO RAID, THEN WHY ARE YOU PLAYING MMORPG'S???? TAKE YOUR COMPLAINT'S AND GO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE.

RAIDING IS WHAT DEFINE'S MMO'S THE GOOD MMORPG'S WILL ALWAYS HAVE RAIDING AS IT'S A MAJOR PART OF THE GAME. MMO'S WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RAIDING WILL ALWAYS BE CONSIDERED AS A LESSER MMO. YOUR WELCOME TO PLAY THOSE GAMES.

Its already been said that this is false but I will add that it does depend on the TYPE of MMO... I play story MMO or a "real" RPG online game and have a blast.. pretty social, less "jerks" and a multi-growth environment.

Mabinogi is hella fun with a HUGGEEEE crafting system and lets u know why its labeled a fantastyLIFE.

I guess I've done different types of raids, from a CTF type to Dungeon types in MMOs but I never looked at it as a big part of ah MMO... i always thought Content and Story would be more improtant, content being (Crafting, Quest/StoryLine, Good Fighting System PvPvE, etc..)

Anyway, Im sure the future of gaming and Online Gaming will change a great deal and hopefully for the better.

No more grinders/raid games.. they suck in the long run. which is maybe 2~3 months, 6 if ur lucky.

WOOOO I LIKE THIS TOPIC!!

Ok, here's my two cent. I dont pay money to crap games or crap developers. i.e. poor customer service... buggie game that never gets fixed yet always has an update but only to the Item Mall/Cash Shop (whatever you want to kall it) that to me is just scamming or a 'get rich quick scheme'  throw in some art work, models and rebuild "a grind game" like everyone else does then add everything a player would actually need in the item mall knowing at least 3/5 of the people will have to buy it.. that and wait for your Gold Sellers.

Then you sitting on a cash cow, some people cant help but spend money on games like that.. its like Gambling to a person who cant stop gambling, least thats what I've notice.

But some games I'd be more then happy to spend money on to "help the cause" IF i know its going somewhere and the Dev and Customer Service and GMs actually give a sh_t about its' players lol

So far Mabinogi seem ok (ill spend $5 for a rebirth) ...World of Kung-Fu is awsome with the best Dev, GM and Customer Services I've seen to date, besides a P2P game (even though most "FREE" MMO are pay, u just dont know it lol)

Also price factors in... how much in-game money are you getting for your Dollar? Was the import price adjusted to fit the US Dollar? (its went down over time)

Are the items you buy KEEPABLE... I understand wanting to help the game dev improve ur fav game or getting unique items from a cash shop to assist your player, but when you buy something like an outfit and you can only wear it a week and u spend $10~20 on it.. the question pops in my head asking "why? are you ah idiot?" And yes, i've seen games like that and people will do it.

But I guess if you rich its nothing but chump change.. not for me though ^_^.. Gas is almost 4 dollars a gallon for reggie

I think this game is perfect,

All I would hope for in the future is a new planet with actual tall building and cities and with weird shops and allies and places down below and up above in the tall building too, that and flying hovering vehicles.

I THINK i get what you're saying, b/c its far from "perfect" but the concept is more then nice. It is "perfect" in that way.. a nice lil blue print for something in the future.

Sadly i dont think ur changes will ever been implemented. Something that vast takes a great deal of development and funds which sadly they dont have right now, its quite in the negative tbh but the base for the game is xtermly good do to its fun factor. Hope for the end of the year or next year for something to happen. It wont be any time soon, I know that much.

Thats just business, and its still a business company and the love for the game(that they have) will probably die out unless the game is bought out by another kompany. mmm

I hate monthly fee's because when you're no longer able to pay, u kant play anymore . i think it makes u appriciate the game more though. and hope that its worth the monthly fee. unlike *kough*TR*kough* ...sorry, bit kold in here :) lol man that game should be free with an item mall but eh well

Not sure if P2P will work so well in the US with so many better quality games being released that are free or a 1 time box fee then F2P, but we'll see.

Yeah. If this is the case, they are probably testing two things.... kould be a wiser approach to refining things for the retail release. Server testing of kourse, stress testing, weeding out bugs and other issues while still giving the masses something to tinker with and improve(add/remove/upgrade) some features. I kant say its a bad idea... pretty smart realli.

If you've spent over 60million dollars on the development of a game and using some of that revenue to run multi-copies of a game. kinda impressive when you think about it. In the business world anyway, anyone just thinking of them selves probably wont see it like that.

I think development costs and the actual player base are 2 different things. You can't actually put the whole development in the scale because there's no way in that period to have revenues. It's more like a debt which you work on. TR is a tool to work on that debt. I read it has over 100k ppl playing it and i hear that's all a mmog needs to generate profits.

It is common for a business not to pull in full income for the end of the year but games... games realli work on a different network.

Once you're burned, coming back from that is realli hard... not impossible.. but realli hard.

On top of that.... taking either numbers side, they didnt seem to even come close to breaking even and the job lose WILL effect the game and its development and "heart" in the game which is key.

If that fails... most you'll see is a slow slow death. keep the game open as long as ppl are paying and leave it at that. Best bet is to kount their losses and sell it. They can try to save it but that dept isnt going to just go poof... every month that passes were ppl have to work on the game with little profit gain will send them greater in dept and its coming out of somebody's pocket.. trust me.

I've said this at the start of the game and i'll say it now... i dont think its worth its price. its a good game but the price is wrong for the content.. i've played free games with more content.. so

Where are all the PvE games in developement?  Every decent looking game seems to focus around PvP.   I don't see why the gaming industry doesn't see the short life-spans of purely PvP based MMORPGs.  The reason games like Everquest and World of Warcraft last for so long is because they have Raiding to look forward to once you get your max level and awesome gear.  Most people need a reason other then killing the same people over and over again who just scale up the gear to enjoy and keep playing a game.

I know i'm biased and pretty care-bear to most of you crazy hardcore PvPers but I just love raiding and want something to choose from other then the current PvE based games out there.

I'm having a blast in World of Kung Fu  I wouldnt say its PvE or all PvP. More of a happi mix. Its a team based game as well as the jobs and rolls, also includes an almost great crafting system (hard to level it). Great GM and GS support, Dev interaction and much more. Still in CB2 currently but worth the attention of most people.

If you dont know how to team or think u've never played an MMO like this, you might want to brush up on what it is or far warning, you'll level up very slow if at all. Most of the stronger jobs HAVE to party. No questions asked. Spears are the weakest class IMO but they level the quickest but at a cost of some real endgame fun.

TR is another PvE game thats fun, simple IMO(at the moment anyway) but fun.

I mean I play a RPG for just that.. a Roll Playing Game that I can play among friends. I like an in-depth PvP system as well but not just a PK system where a Lv70 (who's bored) can spend all day killing Lv20s or so, with no police system.

But I'm seeing more in-depth police systems to prevent that(in some games) and I'm not to shocked. Keep in mind (even though some people disagree) its still an exploit.

But a good Clan vs Clan, Guild vs Guild War system is always fun or a Tournament style battles (which I'm starting to see a sign of)

But as for quests, I think the cookie-cutter quests are realli over done. Mr.Joe the NPC says, My wife is very ill and I cant leave the city, I'm to busy... can you goto Woody Wood Forest for me and collect me 50 Spider Legs(dont ask me how that can fix anyone but eh well)

I dont know, its like these people have the brains of an idiot. So we deal and every blue moon they make real quests, missions, epics... so on, so thats nice or very decent.

Maybe they need to hook up with movie writers... but some simple fixes using that theory(and tell me if you like it). Add in dramatic music to some quests with a compelling story. Also add in Puzzle like quests that will actually make a person think and yet fun and intriguing.

[?] Why dont they put puzzles in Online RPGs ?

Another tip would be cinima views. Nothing complex like a full on movie but useful at certain points. Black the bottom and top of the screen, remove the hud menu and have the character walk and most of the time it has built in animation already like emotes and so on.

I really think those minor changes would take just as much effort, maybe a lil bit more brain power but just as much time coding and editing as the "Get 50 Blue Blurri" Quests.

[?] Why arent mini-games in Online RPGs ?

I mean with the time they spend trying to come up with ways to keep people busy, why not add in mini-games. I've seen 1 or 2 with them but its rare and usually has nothing to do with the actual game. Ha! they could add an Arm-Wrestling mini-game to Conan LoL. Thats some PvP for yea... or built in Card/Trading-Card game... Dice, all kinds of puzzle games Puzzle games right now are doing so good in the market it would only make sense to combine the two. Its just so much you can do but its been so limited. Grind and Cookie-Cutter Quests. (boooooooo) advance more u lazy Devs :)

Recap: Movie Like Quest with dramatic music(they dont have to be off the chart but catching), Puzzles and Quests with Puzzles, and a set of Mini-Games.

Closing: These are all simple add-ins in my opinion... mixed in with a good PvP system, catching graphics and player involvement and you might have a realli rare MMORPG.

new key things also seem to be: A good crafting system, auction-house, player-housing(seems to be omitted alot)

I wont bother with the other 2 as they've already been listed. But right now I'm playing World of Kung-Fu, its in beta with close to 80% of the content still missing but its by far one of the best MMO's thats FREE. Should be patching sometime this month but give it a try. Dont pick spear.. that makes u basic.

CM has always had issues... I wouldnt say they have the _worse_ customer service but it sure isnt the best and Im not sure about their GM's. Some are helpful but most of them always told me to _just relog_ i mean.. I'd rather something be fixed u know?

A good example of _great_ GM service is probably like... them making or taking a note of the issue and making a habbit to address it. Not just saying "Log back in".

Its not always that bad, but people that have played AL know what I'm talking about.

On the game front, CM surely arent the best and they allow alot of exploiting with questionable ingame morals.

I believe money is the bottom line to them, not 100% customer happiness or even 90%. Long as people are buying items from there Item Mall they kould give a flying fuk less.

There arent any real ads in the US for NeoCron. that to me is the main reasion... word of mouth only works so fast and so far.

NC Evo 2.2 is probably still one of the best made _player usable_ games there is. All its missing is an Auction House type setup but there is a built-in in-game forum which is realli decent.

Probably has the best Housing and Vehicle system ever. With a pretty good and set OP system for guild pvp that actually gives its members and allies buffs to help improve crafting and other player skills. its pretty unique when you think about it.

Damn

There's also a upto 48 hr auction house. where you can place the minimum amount you'll take for the item and what you're really looking for. In general, this will help most items sell quicker as people will have a pay option.

There's the normal lag the whole map shops too but you have to buy a skill trainer for those. keeps lag causing shops at a minimum. Its something you can bypass unless u just really want one.

Its still Beta so it only has about 20-30% of its content added in. 60 is the max cap. You can get to 30 relatively quick. And there's double xp on the weekends.

Item Mall shops are a bit _cheating_ as stated above. You can safely +4 an item but if you want to spend like $30-$50, you could probably get your weapon to +10 without to much trouble. 1 is weapon safty, keep it from breaking (aka disappearing) which is a feature ive never liked. only ArchLord has done better.

And one to improve your chances of adding a + (5, 6, 7.. etc )

Its bad to have 20 levels of forging and only +4 is safe to do w/o breaking your weapon. It should at least go up to 10 before the weapon will break but keep a resk of failing and loosing all or most or ur upgrading material.

You, sir, are a bona fide sucker.

Ha. Yeah... 80% of the game is still missing as this is only a Beta Test.

If you'd truely like to see whats missing still you can try and visit the asian version if you can manage to read their site. im sure there's ah online trans that can do it.

As for whats missing that i know about. More School interaction features. About 11 more titties and I'm not sure how many maps they are going to open up.

The rest is just debugging and flipping stuff to a more US base consumer need. But yeah. Keep in mind you're only playing 20% of the game.

Leave feedback on the forum if you think its something in-game you dont like or need to be changed. They have a suggestion area. Its a pretty Team based game, so if you play MMOs just to play by ur self, u'll have to kill that off quick.

I'm not gone say its the best game.. but atm. its decent

Well, 2gp in LOTRO isn't really all that much.....but I do agree w/ you that isn't really fair. If I were you I'd submit a petition or GM-ticket and find out what happened to all your stuff and if it's recoverable. It's unusual that the devs do stuff like that, usually when you take a break from a game your things will stay put, it's rare for a players belongings to be trashed. I mean, in SWG they just recently did a sweep where they destroyed abandoned player housing, but for the housing to be destroyed, it had to have been abandoned for a long while,  and the players account inactive for just as long (or something like that). For you to take a break for a few months and come back to find your house and all your belongings gone is pretty weird. Housing hasn't even been around for 6 months and they are already demolishing players houses?

Like I said, submit a GM-ticket. I'm willing to bet that they at least give you back your stuff. They may not refund your gold, or restore your house, but it sounds like something went wrong, I really can't see them removing the houses of cancelled players so quickly.

whew.. harsh.

FFXI was worse. They deleted ur whole account if you didnt play after 3 months. Sony = some real time hoes. I'm glad they took that billion dollar lose from the PS3. they deserved that one. They're real bad with customer relations.

But i didnt know LotRs had stuff like that too... NeoCron housing system was and is way better... i dont think i've ever had any issue with them, if i did.. it was fixed and quite quickly. Buying cabs and throwing all ur stuff in it was very helpful and it looks nice, or derk and dismel, depending on where u buy one at.

But yeah.. if you HAVE to pay for a game and then on top of that make a MONTHLY fee.. then shyt like this shouldnt happen.. yea dig. even free mmos dont take ur stuff way. To this day i still dont know what FFXI issues were.. deleted the whole account. they must hate they customers.

I enjoyed it, barely. It isn't balanced well at all. Just my thoughts.

Blessings,

The side effect of adding the RPG "feel" to it I guess.. it looks exciting.. I'll give it a whirl... if it has that RPG touch then im guessing the mage classes are stronger.. that or the tanks. I havent read a single thing about it yet, so I dont know.. just got done watching the intro video though.

I seen someone complain about Lord of the Rings not having a good enough PvP system.. well hardly any MMO-RPG does.. if it does the player classes are balanced and you get ppl complaining about  balance issues. the reason this is the case most of the time is b/c its a team game, one person tanks, damage support and a healer.. most ppl have seen LotRs and should know how RPGs work. but oh well
