When I was running around in Vanguard, it was just that feeling of freedom and could never go back to a games that use instancing as the main world content. VG and LotRO are the 2 best mmorpgs right now imo. One has a deep story line along with a casual feel, the other is a bare bones knuckle cruncher with very hard content.... in my opinion

that would be a big downgrade.  Even with it being a low end core 2 duo, with AMD's horrid performance you would need to buy a phenom to beat it out.  I wouldn't bother changing the processor.  Stick with intel, perfomance is better and upgrade path is better.  If you're looking to upgrade the system in the original post, go with a better power supply, better ram, and a bigger hard drive.

I won't be as arrogant then this, but AMD is a great processor, as is Intel. One does things better  in certian environments then the other , AMD is your gaming processor, Intel is an office applications processor, in my opinion. AMD processors are engineered to perform under harsher circumstances then Intel. 

Again it is personal preference, but the above poster is a complete intel fanboy, only looking at processor numbers instead of what the over performance is with other components of the p.c. . Don't let him discourage you from AMD if that is the path you take.

Recommend AMD 2.5 -3.2  dual core black box addition athlons and Phenons.... AMD is also working on a 8 core , pure 8 core processor called BullDozer as well, so ... yah

Hard drive is weak. You want to look for a 16meg cache SATA serial drives

Should beable to get 4 gigs of ram

 AMD 3.2 cpu x 2 is very nice, you add a 8800GT with that you can play any current mmorpg on high.

Here is what I would look for at that price :

300+ gig 16 meg cache SATA Hard Drive

4 gigs of  ram

AMD dual or quad core nothing below 2.0 ghz x 2 (im partial to AMD)

8800GT or Radeon equiv

Some kind of Sound Blaster mb sound or sound card'

550+watts of power

Case can be anything as long as it has place for at least 3 to 5 fans.

Lotro and Vanguard , 2 games , could have 10 subs each, would still be a better game then AoC.

AoC is buying and bribing its way to hell.... in my opinion

The problem is that even with its bugs and missing features (yes we are only at launch) AoC is already better than 90% of the other mmorpgs on the market.

Guess what , LotrO release, even the most harshest of trolls admitted the game was polished and ran beautifully , and they simply stated "This game is not for me.." - thats a fact.

AoC proclaimed so much in the past 3 years, and when they delivered it, it was like  Brad Mcquaids second child, completely unprofessional and uninspired game.. in my opinion.

Yet we have some weird Canadian networked review board that no one has heard of, but able to push up the average of the game, an average that was going down fast and 3 more 70% reviews would of pushed it down to a 79% average game.

Eidos is probably furios right now at this project simply because they have to put more money into hyping up what is now becoming very fast a sinking ship... in my opinion.

Weird opinion you have given the NPD charts and positive reviews; both editor and user.

I assume you base your opinion solely on all the negative banter on forums, which in that case would mean even World of Warcraft is a fast sinking ship. Men lie, women lie, numbers don't!
 

NPD charts, all the scores  , woohoo it is the best "selling" new game of this moment. To bad that moment doesn't translate in an actual subscriptions. Pat yourselves on the back , you have the "moment"

I has nothing to do with Canada. Just look all over the world, it's the same average 8.5.

One of the sites in the list I know very well for being independent and doing thorough detailed reviews is the French clubic.com; the OP says they gave it a 10 but it was 9.5. Go to Germany, Denmark, Hong Kong, its the same average 8.5.

And the players are confirming this average with 8.5 on mmorpg.com, 8.3 on gamespot.com, etc...

Also don't forget that mmorpgs are living entities, they are improving and changing with every patch, and Funcom is currently almost patching twice per week.

Large part of those reiveis are from nobodies in Canada. They never even reviewed any mmos up until AoC , but we all should drop our wallets on there words, buzz wrong.

Now I am a fan of Mythic when they were just sticking to DAoC, but I was never much of a EA supporter. I am still pissed that Mythic went this route, but I hope they prove me wrong and this was for the best.

EA should just stick to sport titles was the mentality I had, once I heard EA was going to be handling Warhammer Online, I nearly shit my pants. However being a Warhammer fan since the 80s with the minatures, I will give EA the benefit of the doubt and they wont fck it up, sorry to sound like a hypocrit, but I just dont trust EA as much as SOE.

EA killed my favorites titles like Ultima Online and Earth and Beyond, yeah they can rip it up with Sims Games especially there 100,000,000 copies sold and their long line of EA Sports, but I really don't have much faith in EA for there MMO division.

I hope I am wrong about EA and wont cast judgement of Warhammer Online the 1st month, but I am going to expect the worst and take it from there even though beta is still kinda rough around the edges, but its playing pretty damn good.

EA knows how import it is now , to get a proper foot hold into the online mmo industry. Think Funcom completely misses the point in how import it is at this juncture to have polish in these games. mmos and online gaming will be the for front of the entire videogame industry, and EA knows this now, and I'm sure they are giving Mythic as much support as possible to make WAR , have a great launch like LotRO.  Think the numbers after 1 month for Mything will be around 500k subscribers and it will grow to a good amount yearly subscribition base. If EA really wanted to flip the bublle they would offer Lifetime and special packages like LotrO giving the player a great savings in this time of economic decay. 

My money for mmo of the year goes to W.A.R. , most improved , Vanguard and LotrO will win some kind of honorary award for being able to maintain a great sub holding for over a year :D

Your post history is pretty note worthy.  The fact that 98% of your 3000+ posts are fluffing AoC to be this great thing , not even once considering the possibitly that there was trouble waters come to launch.

WaR on the other hand is probably going to come out nearly flawlless, and the content that is billed at launch will be in at launch. EA is an entirely different force in Videogames, they have rarely released anything not completed. When EA feels a game isn't going to work, it gets canned. If AoC was an EA game, it would of not made it past beta 3.

THat is your opinion, my opinion differs and when I run through Vanguard I get that excited feeling that only one other game gives LotrO.

I'm the complete opposite, I find the reworked animation ver y smooth and engaging, of course there isn't 50 gallons of blood distracting you from ever position the character moves, but that is just hind site.
