Last night around 9 or 10 pm EST, I entered my code, subscribed to AoC, clicked the Early Access and have been downloading since.  Download should be done by Friday 5pm EST.

Far as I can figure, the people that subscribed while the Early Access was closed aren't able to add Early Access.  That's my guess.  I'm glad I didn't subscribe until Early Access opened for me last night.  I wasn't going to subscribe early with no Early Access to show for it; honestly not sure I would have bothered playing at release.  Guess its fate.  Or maybe they opened it for like 5 minutes last night and I snuck in, shrugs, we'll never know.

demonologist pet is not much damageoutput so its really mainly your spells that do all. i did not get much time to test both fire and lightning feat lines so cannot say which one will do betetr, at early levels you get more fire spells but the lightning ones seemd to do a bit more damage (but at endgame this could all be completely difefrent).

Games are usually done like that to cause the mage to get into danger(melee) range.  At the end of the game, I'm betting the single target spells will be ok, but not great; they'll want to give barbarians a chance to get to them from a distance.

Best balance can be seen when a demo casts single target damage spells at a tank type.  Tank type runs to mage.  Mage casts one or two quick cast damage spells.  But, whether mage is bashed to death or tank dies by spell damage is "in the air".  That's the type of fight I'm always looking for.

No worries.  They'll drop the NDA and let Closed Beta testers tell the public what they think of the game sometime in June.

What will be the difference?  You expect people not to send you a tell says F#@k you! after you kill them on a ffa pvp rp server?

I can't figure out how to get this AoC game subscribed using my Anarchy Online account.

This is very disheartening.  I am almost fed up with the lack of open beta and now this.  I'm going to look very hard at my options and decide if I really want to play a game that's being so mismanaged.

Its ironic, I was the head reporter of AO Stratics that covered Anarchy Online for a year and a half; this time, I have so many worries.

Will my system handle this game?  What class should I play?  Will I be able to catch up to my guildmates or will I always be behind them?  Am I going to be erroneously billed for something on my credit card?  Will this game be around in a month?  Is the cost of purchasing AoC worth it?

Why don't I have the sense of grandeur and excitement running through me, now?  Why am I not frothing at the bit to be able to immerse myself in a world of fantasy?

I don't know what they've been making money off of.  I thought AO went free.  But, looking at the financial statement, if they continue to make the revenue that they have been making for the last 15 months and don't increase their current spending, then they need roughly 214k subscribers.  NOT 250k subscribers.

I imagine, after release, they can easily layoff half their people and only need roughly 80k-105k subscribers and they'd be fine.

I haven't seen anything about it, but thought the requirements might be lower than AoC.  Anyone know?

War will have double the subscribers.  It'll blow AoC away.  I feel sorry for AoC cause of the financial victory War will have.  I'll be playing AoC but have a strong feeling that I'll load it on my computer, spend days patching, then have it lock up whenever I leave the character creation screen.  Yes, I'm being optimistic in that I'll get through to see the character creation screen.

But, hey!  If by some miracle it is playable, I'll have no clue which class to play for the first month and by the time I figure out what I like, my guild will be talking about building cities while I'm trying to figure out whether to do this lvl 12 quest or not.

Oh, easy one.  I compiled all the good things and all the garbage into one easy short post.  Now, people can stop talking about performance and beautiful graphics and get to .... yes, that's right .... General Discussion.

Overpowered classes?

Underpowered classes?

Game Content?

Casters vs Melee vs Healers?

Combat system likes, dislikes, and fixes?

etc etc etc.

I'm only stating the things that have been posted over and over in this forum.

An 8800 video card and 2GB ram is recommended, not minimum.  Which, again, states the case of the recommended requirements actually being the minimum requirements.  You really could have stated your case if you said,"I'm using a 256 ram card with 1 GB of ram and have smooth play and 40 to 60 FPS...albeit on low graphical settings".

Also, the only trolls in this thread are the ones yelling about trolls and posting replies about the negative things in the OP instead of the positive things.  Everything stated in the OP came directly from multiple posts in this forum.

Lastly, most current threads are about CLASS or GAME CONTENT?  I don't think so.  I have yet to hear a good update about classes.  The only thread in this forum about casters had no replies.  Unbelievable.  They should rename this forum from General Discussion to Technical Issues.

Most people will buy the game based on what they've seen or their friends recommend.  Regardless of whether they release with a great version or not.  ATM, the version that most people are looking at totally sucks.  And, to those like myself that are reading all this garbage because we are trying to figure out if our computers will be able to handle the game, it LOOKS very much like the recommended hardware is really the MINIMUM requirement to play the game.  I have yet to hear a fanboi say 'ONE GIG RAM IS PLENTY' etc etc.

So, information I've seen so far says:

AoC is very graphically beautiful.

AoC graphics make immersion incredible.

AoC is not an open game; AoC is, overall, a path-like world...very linear.

AoC is an end-game copy of Shadowbane/DAoC.

Funcom is lying about computer requirements; your computer MUST meet 'recommended' requirements just to be 'playable'.

Funcom has a history of failing at release.

Funcom did not have an Open Beta(very worrying).

Funcom's current Betas are having performance issues.

Things have been so bad that NO ONE is talking about classes and game content because AoC performance, lack of Open Beta, and alot of misdirection has caused the community to prioritize to 'is the game even playable?' a week before release.  Instead of Class Information and Game Content.

I've been looking at youtube videos of AoC, but seems like most play melee classes.  I saw a pretty good ranger video and a few caster videos but in pvp, it looked like casters weren't doing too much damage.  Anyways, I'm quite confused and was wondering which classes will be good for solo/small group pvp?  Any classes seem overpowered?  My guildmates that have been playing gave up on the assassin and are trying the DT class.

Is Funcom saying anything about why they used an older version for the Stress Beta?

I'd like to know how it runs with 1GB ram in Scenario 2.  Supposed to be playable per their requirements.  Is it?
