World of Warcraft: Blizzard Exec: Some Left to try Conan
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/02/08 10:20:13 AM
WAR hitting 2 million? Don't make me laugh.
It won't even hit 1 million, i mean there aren't enough inbred fans towards DAOC or tabletop nonesense WAR, to do so., well there might be alot of tabletop WAR fans but thinking they all will flow into the mmo game is kinda delusional, why? Because if that was the case LOTR should be bolstered with 20+ million subs right now.
I have this itch that tells me, it won't even get as many initial subs as AoC had, AoC was hyped to the skies and beyond, many who just loved the movie and perhaps played some games rushed to try it out; "violence, tits, and the thought of meeting Arnie ingame, woops i mean Conan!" was kinda huge.
But then again time will tell but i hardly believe in a 1 million + subs on WAR's part, that game is just all about one funny guy praising it and telling everyone how awesome a game is, whileshowing little less or nill ingame stuff.
Many people will rush back to WoW when WotLK hits the stores, it's a no brainer, whether it will slam dunk WAR's release is the question, not whether WAR will put a dent on WoW's subs, because it won't. WAR is like the geekward, while WoW is the "cool guy/lady" in the office/school/club/store/college/uni/whatever.
WoW is multicultural funfest(how you make of it), WAR is nazi camp with parkinson syndrome.
P.S. yeah i played AoC, was fun until around lvl 50 then you got headshot by the countless bugs which were gamebreaking, while the trip up to 50, weren't that much of game breaking bugs or something that would kill your mood for the whole day. At first i just wanted to take a step back, as did my mates whom also bought AoC, but now it seems we won't even be coming back as each patch seems to create more bugs than it can fix. |

Warhammer and WoW, whats the real difference?

Honestly everything i've seen so far on WAR is that it's slow paced and looks like something that was made by a guy with parkinson's syndrome....
WAR better than WoW? If you a burned out on WoW after playing it billion hours too much, perhaps, or if you suffered from a massive braindamage, sure it'll be greater than WoW.
I'll stay on something that has proven itself, i'm not playing WoW atm anymore but will surely be back in the expansion, else there's some nice "underdog" mmorpgs whose actually got the funds to match WoW than the bumlike funds we have seen with WAR and AoC.
Aion is my only safe bet atm, other than WotLK ofcourse. Maybe Blade &Soul but hell only a gameplay trailer can't be enough to go out and buy a PS3 and a new 42"+ screen just to play it. |

If you look away from the boobie subject this game looks awesome.... yeah looks, yet.
Somehow i got the whole Soul Caliber battle feeling when i saw this gameplay trailer and i was stunned, seriously, is that a mmo? I mean have they finally been able to make mmos whose got such great combat and tag/combo attacks? Along with the running along walls and zig zag'in on them like some real kung fu movies? I'm impressed really impressed!
If this game is as great as it looks like there, i would buy a ps3 just to play it gladly. =P |

Aion: Can this game be the last stand for new MMORPG's in the near future?
General Discussion « Aion 7/20/08 12:38:12 PM
I'm looking forward to this game, so far the combats looks very nicely done and highly dynamic. The GFX is drop dead gorgeous yet not very needy, yet again the gameplay also seems to be just perfect, so it's not just an "eye candy with nothing behind".
I won't be following Aion really heavy because i hate waiting so i rather be like "oh crap Aion releases in 2 days??!!! OMG YES! Thank you jesus baby boy!" Or perhaps a friend crashing into my apartment in a truck and yelling "DUDE!!! Aion was just released, why are you here sleeping?! Lets go!".
Same goes for D3, though that's not a mmo but it's one hell of a net-game, well the previous 2 were atleast.
But i've read about as much information i could when i was mega hyped about this game, and i loved what i saw/read so dearly and so much that they really have to screw it up badly to make me not buy this game. |

Since i like swimming against the flow....
Looks actually pretty decent to me, i'll most likely be buying the expansion, people here can try make themselves bigger than they seem and fart some air out but WotLK is going to sell more than AoC or WAR can sell/sold together.
You can't go wrong with Blizzard when it comes to buying an entertaining game worth every penny.
BTW i see a lot of funny old movie monsters in those, i love that part! Can't wait to bash those "gremlins look-alike". "Gizmo grille!!!! wahahahahahaaaaaa", might be their attack voices?
For now it looks like my mmo games for next year will be WotLK and Aion, with a splash of D3, when it finally arrives. |

Not much here to say but you even see something about WoW on MTV now..... Lol tell me another mmorpg whose able to do that without getting smacked to bits and pieces?
Don't believe me?
Short but there. This is some crazy sh*t, i was rather stunned when i were browsing through and found a WoW article! Only Blizzard can do this.
AoC there? Hmmm in the hype it probably was but now it's faded if it at all was there, i doubt it. AoC isn't a bad game, me and my pals will resub once they have added enough content for the 50-80 range. |

second that. I wonder how many more years it'll take other companies to finally discover the need for high quality of polish and art to create the right atmosphere.
It's obviously point and lick, how else would you be able to direct certain abilities to certain locations you want to? (eg. WW and leap attack, as seen in the gameplay trailer).
*reinstalling D2 now* lol, even so many years after it's still an entertaining game. |

Blizzard have to be going Sci-fi, they can boom that mmo genre up like no other, SC2 will be there to initialize the Sci-Fi hype, then they announce their new mmo.
I pray to god it's on the board of a hybrid between many things, such as Freelancer. Would be lovely to have a mmo version of Freelancer, add Blizzard quality and we got the biggest Sci-Fi game in history. |

Very nicely detailed and long FAQ there! :) player shops aren't "that" bad but as long they can restrict the areas where they can be set up i don't see a problem with them. I'm sure they'll think of something, hopefully, heh. |

Diablo 3 - The Sin Wars.
Enough meat for a full mmo in that lore sector, also it makes it a lot easy to make new stuff from there. I seriously wouldn't mind Diablo3, i loved the IP and always wanted them to make a diablo part of the Sin Wars, which of course is about the past INSANELY huge war between heaven and hell. |

Thats all you would have needed right there.
People will complain about anything.... "Oh... gee i don't know wally, I wasn't planning on canceling until at least the 3rd month maybe the 5th I don't know. He only has an option to cancel after 1 month tho... what do I choose.... MOMMY!"
Either you like it and are going to play it, or you dont like it and aren't going to play it. People like to make these issues into a rainbow spectrum of options... but really its just black and white. Yes or No, Good vs Bad, Hot bitches vs Ugly bitches. Things of that nature. Anyway AoC sucks ass, DEATH TO AOC!
The irony hits you for 10 gazillion.....
Really your post was so funny, try reread it. |

A game director comparing WoW to McDonalds/fast food now too....?
Gosh i just think i might reconsider my resub, i knew many players were retards by using WoW as a Mc Donald term, when it's just a lot better on most fronts, not to mention NOT RUSHED but polished!! WoW didn't deliver subpar stuff, it actually was the unexpected 2nd gen mmo, both for the good and bad.
If anything, WoW is a fancy restaurant, which became huge and opened a lot of other ones in other towns because their food was liked by extremely many and had both sections for younger and older ones. Their food was great, it had a long taste and was worth every single penny, yet it wasn't expensive though it tasted better than really expensive restaurants.
I happen to know a nice café which started out very small but always made great food, it was somehow always cheap, even though you got a lot more than the usual, and it never seemed to be rushed. They now have a pretty large café or perhaps it should be called a restaurant, their food is still great, perhaps even better, and yet also still quite cheap.
Anyways, God, a game director like that? Jeeze, for the first time i actually feel like i wasted money on AoC..... |

too few options but i guess it's the perfect choice for those who hate it to guts....
I'll resub once it's been polished, it's really fun untill you hit too many of the "this bug shouldn't be in release....." |
|
|
I hope they keep it at early 2009 but i won't mind it being pushed i seriously don't want pushed garbage bags.
WoW was great because it was so nicely fine tuned, would i have bought it anyway when i played it in beta more than a year before release? Yeah but it wouldn't have been as great, so even if it pains me, i would rather wait than play a pushed game.
Patience young one..... wait till the fruit is ripe, thus you won't be having a bittersweet taste but a juicy sweet. |

Uhh that was nice, i suppose the giant bad@ss Balaur was their boss, oh well i had a feeling when the concept came short time ago that it probably wasn't just any Balaur heh.
The wings actually look better in my opinion, or at least more fitting, hopefully they get the little awkward movement fixed, which you could see a few glimse off.
So far so good.
Just can't wait now..... once again heh. |

Kek..... I believe there's a 10 day "before" billing you have to cancel.
I simply removed my billing method just to be sure. |
|

will resub at end of summer again....
Hopefully they'll have enough stuff to make 50-80 just as good as the 1-40 was, or better. |

My take on Age of Conan and why I cancelled.
General Discussion « Age of Conan 6/25/08 12:00:53 PM
I agree OP on most points pretty much, also the fact that players today aren't tolerant towards unfinished mmorpgs any more. The reason is simple, the standard has been raised several times since; "The time of tolerance and patience". Last week a few of my RL friends and i decided to move on and come back later, we liked AoC quite a lot but we didn't want to play it unfinished as it were right now, funny enough i always knew it was released at least 3 months too early (knew about the financial problem FC was facing), i bought AoC on an spontanous reaction after EA people said it was smooth sailing and the miracle patch to performance had been made (the part which always had me going on the "waiting a few months till it's stable"). We'll be back at the end of summer, or earlier if they are able to stabilize and give out enough of the content that should have been at release. But most likely it's be the first option. Unless some other game comes out of the blue air ect. I was really into the Conan lore and loved the game at start, since it actually brought it really nicely.
Funny enough i should have listened to my own advice before EA, "wait 1-3 months before buying it", hehe ironic i know, oh well, it was fun for the time we played it, had funcom had enough cash to delay it 3 more months, who knows what would have happened.
AoC just needed the 3 extra months, oh well at least a few of my pals and myself will resub again, after it's been polished enough so the ride up to lvl 80 will be as nice as the 1-40 was. Not to mention, having things to do after hitting lvl 80 and making the gathering/crafting system work properly.
P.S. lol as i was writting this post i got a mail from Funcom, to please take part in their survey of why i hadn't renewed the sub. Hopefully they'll at least read a little of it.
Funcom's AoC car is very dirty, beneath the dirt there's an awesome car but they forgot to clean it up properly, stupid funds running out, or better yet, they should just have put the release date far into 2009 from the beginning. =S
Oh well..... |
