Oh wait, Aventurine allowed that to happen, some might even say they lifted the NDA on these guys for a few hours...(impressions and personal opinions is likely ALL they had in the short time they were allowed to play - which is also covered by the NDA anyhow) Honestly, I cant decide if you are dense, inexperienced, or just being argumentative. In any case, further discussion appears pointless. I will accept your answer - they are too busy to talk to media. |

Right there it tells you that they allowed the article to be written (they lifted the NDA for the article) but they are making it clear that everyone else is still not allowed to talk and nothing else is allowed beyond what the article covered. Yellowbeard gave significant info - including the NA launch would likely be delayed - whether he played the demo or not. So, in the end, we both agree that Aventurine chooses to keep silent. Good, that is progress!
EDIT: Unfortunately, this brings us right back to my original statement, which I will post again for your convenience: Ghost - Aventurine can do whatever they want with their NDA, as evidenced by lifting the NDA for fan visits and MMORPGitalia. Really, it does not make any sense to turn down free publicity from the mainstream gaming media when your feature-complete and pro-tested game is set to launch within a month. To totally ignore inquiries from a site like TTH is where the logic breaks down, IMO. Aventurine had no problems talking to MMORPG, TTH, Warcry, and IGN when their game wasnt ready. So now that their game apparently is ready, they stop talking to the big boys? |

You dont get it...the NDA is Aventurine's choice. You make it sound like they have their hands tied! They can do whatever they want. Their choice for silence this close to release does not compute if they dont have anything to hide. While there might be a reason to keep the NDA enforced, I cant think of a good one that would not include significant problems - and Aventurine claims they dont have any significant problems and are still on track. |

The OP made no threats to Santa! However, that Vinny...I heard him talking smack last night, and he might not be able to restrain himself until xmas. Just saying. |

Well, considering their article was not much - and we have yet to see the "real" one, I expect that this IS the video. Meh. |

Aventurine is tough to figure out, they do seem to march to the beat of their own drummer. I guess you could say that no pre-orders is a sign of confidence. Of course, if I had a feature complete, professionally tested game that was about a month from release, I would drop the NDA and let the testers spread the good word - while proudly taking preorders. I have yet to see a really good game when the NDA was enforced right up to the last minute. So there ya go...signs of confidence and signs of uncertainty. That is Aventurine in a nutshell. |

GNi says Darkfall will launch USA servers within 60 days *UPDATE*

Thanks for sharing, looks legit to me. At least confirms what was expected. If Darkfall launches in Europe late December, that would put the NA launch weeks later, as we were told. Of course, this all hinges on no significant problems during play/load testing, and that is a hurdle yet to be cleared. |

Anyway, according to the Greek News team that interviewed Aventurine, the game is SIX YEARS old. There, a compromise! |

If this is the best we are going to get, then I guess I will just have to wait until open beta or even release. Will we ever get any end-game/advanced feature info in the time we have left? And until the server gets loaded during open beta, my performance questions will also go unanswered. Hey, I believe they have a game already. We need red meat! |

If Darkfall is Vaporware it's in good company.

Of course TF2 released. Sorry I waxed a little poetic back there. But my point is that these things do have a shelf life, at least to individuals. Things can change for you in 10 years time. |

Aventurine's biggest f-up can be traced to the point they took control of DF in 2002/2003. They knew the game wasnt worthy, and knew it needed significant upgrades/enhancements. If they had just TOLD us they were going to take some serious time to make the game right, I would have cut them more slack. If they had said in 2006, the game just isnt ready for the clan beta we announced in late 2005, I would have given them points for integrity. (yeah, I still would have been pissed) They have done a very poor job managing thier game. I hope they code much better, because their ideas have always been great. I played TF (and other team shooters) heavily for many years, and waited long for TF2. Eventually, I just got to the point where I didnt play team shooters anymore. TF2 will always be vapor to me, just another "could have been". |

No, they call them liars when the updates are misleading. My biggest problem with Aventurine is that they refuse to give out "bad news". Part of being honest, is telling it like it IS, not like how you hope it will be. That includes informing us of setbacks or changes to plans in a timely manner. If Aventurine had just come out and said "we are enhancing/expanding" the game in 2003, or in early 2006 explained to us why the clan beta was scrapped, it would have gone a long ways toward maintaining their credibility. After all these years of half-truths, it is no wonder that some call them liars. |
