Down for maintenance. 1.0.1. PTR Patch notes
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/27/11 9:09:46 AM
I can not thank Bioware enough for the following
PvP Warzones General Rewards for winning Warzones have been increased. Warzone completion rewards have been decreased.
Warzones particulary alderaan have been plagued with people just capping a turret then camping AFK just popping back when someone comes and I am not talking the 2 you should leave there but 6 if not 7 leaving little old me to just go get spanked at least trying to win.
Warzones where far to friendly to noobs who had no intention of trying to win where just there for easy xp now just get me a 8 man group option for warzones so I dont have to enter them with 4 guildies and 4 retards and I'll be a happy fella. |

Honestly ! Who would actually pay 15 a month for this???

TBH this is the one MMO where I have pondered that question and the only answer I come up with is that its relative.
I dont personally think it warrants a sub its far to instanced etc for that and does not feel like a "true" MMO but FFS its £8.99 thats not even 1 movie here in the UK these days for 30 days of kind of entertainment, |

all subjective and depends on server TBH
Its a OK game at the moment I'm still relativly enjoying it but need a 8 man warzone queue ASAP as far too often getting 4 guildies and 4 complete utter ****wits which are completely ruining the matches. Needs to fix PVP combat delay also far to often spamming abilities multiple times to trigger them and theres a 100+ page thread on this on the official boards so not just me.
At the moment its a C (has potential)
But yeah same here no crashes runs awesomely on my laptop PUGS have been really friendly so far aside the few that just dont speak whatsoever (seriously go play skyrim if you dont want to socialise in a MMO) Queues are still an issue on my server had only went away for a day or 2 of xmas but back at 5 hours last night. |

Enjoying TOR don't get me wrong but its just far to instanced and has other things going against it.
I play on Nightmare Lands a EU server that until 2 days ago had 3-5 hour queues and is heavy/full pop pretty much all day everyday.
*Instances of everything - The world feel souless and when you see that theres only 68 people in that instance of the planet your on you understand why even moving to the most populated instance you rareley see a soul. *4 Man groups - These are my biggest gripe why is there not a 8 man warzone group option tired of making 2 4 man guild groups and trying to get to same queue which usually doesnt happen so you nd up with 4 guildies and 4 retards who cant follow instruction. *Companions - I cant say how much I hate this feature it so goes against what a MMO should be and is a antisocial feature in a product that should drive social elements.
Other than that its good fun but for me these are almost dealbreakers.

Its more to do with the companion you get IMO.
Theres a number of classes where the initial companion makes little to no sense in actually helping you depending on your spec.
I personally am playing Jedi Shadow infiltration spec so Qyzen as a first companion is ideal as he tanks whilst I take people from behind, fnar fnar, now if I had went Kinetic combat spec Qyzen makes zero sense and I'd be stuck until the mid 20s for getting a actual useful companion.

Originally posted by Equintin Its a OK game nothing more nothing less its not the pinnacle of MMO's, far from it in fact, it lacks innovation, it lacks the MM in MMO, its a star wars guild wars mixed with some Mass Effect.
Its enjoyable dont get me wrong but its far from the holy grail of what a MMO could and should be. |

Jedi Shadow Infiltration spec
Loving PVP TBH sneaky sneaky and explode on people with interupts, mez, stuns and good DPS, very squishy but providing you get the first strike you should be fine.
Key to PVP is knowing your class and keeping your gear orange or purple due to how Bolstering works.
Level 22 shadow with level 20 purples your like a 50 with purples which is a massive stat difference over a 50 with greens.
Play to your classes strenghts some you can just facerool the keyboard and do OK others you really are watching cooldowns looking for targets isolating people etc etc
I like shadow as despite its stealth its a real challenge to play well.
Its not a class that will get you top of the leaderboard though we are single target DPS so we simply cannot put out the overall damage ratings that a BH trooper (AOE) can put out. |

anyone else have blocky shadows ?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/17/11 6:33:29 AM
Blocky shadows have existed since alpha and have been raised and raised and raised again.
Another MMO pandering to the casio calculator using WOW generation. SIGH
Character customisation stinks of that also and are the 2 biggest let downs from a graphical standpoint. Even forcing graphics up uber high via .ini theres very few places it makes look better graphics are just so dumbed down with little scaleability you get 2 options shit or shitter. |

Hope theres no queues on this other server because we sure as **** arent heading where we were assigned. |

General: 5 Other Movies That Could Be MMOs
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/12/11 9:30:42 AM
Balderunner yes please.
But really the only one I would love to see (raises middle finger to CME) is Stargate so much potential such fantastic settings and lore.
How anybody could fudge that up or fail to get backing for one of the biggest IP's around at a time when MMO's where on the boom due to WOW is beyond me, the execs at CME must have been absolute morons. |
