Star Wars: The Old Republic: Pokket's Tips & Tricks for Winning on Alderaan
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/02/12 12:43:26 PM
Never go for mid at start 3 left 5 right once taken then 2 left 2 right and 4 shuttles. Quicker to get back into the fight due to speeders. Or just faceroll the pathetic rebs and take all 3 and /dance them at their futile attempts to cap anything.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Endgame Grind: PvE vs. PvP
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/31/12 10:39:26 AM
PVP warzones are fun IMO, ILUM sucks nuts though weget about 30 mins of pvp per day then it descends into the Daytona 500 and jsut riding in circles fighitng 20 other people for 5 or so spawns I wont even bother heading there now.
PVE I don't really touch anyway. Still have 15 levels of valor to go for BM so hoping Ilum is somewhat sorted by the time I get there. |

I support Middlesboro FC (for sins in a past life), boro fans get nicknamed smoggies, as the only boro fan in my town I have been called Smog or Smoggy most of my life.
My mmo names are always, Smog, Smogg, Smoggy, Smoggles etc etc just my nicknames in RL really. |

28/01/2012 patch notes - LOL REALLY!!!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/28/12 8:13:55 AM
Originally posted by Shivam Im saying worse case scenario this bug may have affected 10% of the playerbase at absolute maximum I certainly have not heard 1 complaint of it outside of 1 thread on the OB's.
The 55% is from an article a few weeks back on sales of SWTOR (minus digital) that indicated of the 2m shipped 55% where in the EU market.
Using those figures which of course are nowhere near factual then lets say absolute worse case scenario 200k players have this bug and are disconnected once or twice a play session, does that really justify affecting the prime time of not only the 1.1m EU players by over 5 hours but also a number of US players who stay up late playing on weekends.
Not against fixing it and I feel for those with it I imagine it is frustrating as hell but surleey it could be lived with until Tuesday ?? |

Originally posted by Shivam Yes but that priority should be Tuesday even if it was 10% of the playerbase which I doubt it is nowhere near.
You have 10% affected for a few days longer or you affect 55% during peak times (thats the EU numbers BTW) I'll let you do the rest of the math. |

As long as done right who cares, it shouldnt be an option with every romanceable character but no harm in it being for some and just so long as its not as in your face as Anders :) in DA2. |

Originally posted by Complication Yeah theres been hundreds, Im a BH and still stuck in that end situation despite hitting 50 2 weeks ago, lets throw in companions not remembering skill selections so mako spams her fricking CC all the time despite being turned off, companions dissapearing at every transition, taxi etc Warzone particualry Alderaan allowing clipping under the left and right turrets by running at a certain point at stairs meaning you cant be hit but can hit. Now throw on top the sheer amount of exploiting that has gone unpunished. Valor no1 in the first few days, afk'n warzones, speed hacks, credit dupe, item dupe, Valor no 2 last weeks patch and on top of those the 5 or 6 exploits found in 1 dungeon alone in 1.1 allowing mass harvesting of Columi Rak gear. |

Originally posted by Complication Bioware are learning not to tell us of exploits though.
Look at every exploit there has been so far.
They fix them but they take very little action (if any) on the exploiters, they tell us its an exploit then the first thing that happens is people start repoting people they suspect of this.
If its anything like there normal reporting then they are a joke at it I reported a guy who 3 weeks ago was speed hacking in PVP hes still alive and well on our server now valor 60 with full BM set. I have outright given up on BW taking retrospective action on players and not just trying to brush these exploits under the rug with stelth fixes disguised as maintenance, |

The 1st rule of managing a community when you know its going to be anger is to keep it insular, you want the venomous posts to be on your own forums where your CURRENT players are and that can be managed by your staff. By locking the forums down you force players to head elsewhere be it here, IGN, Gamespot etc and all a potential customer will see ae tirades of abuse directed at a company and this creates a bad 1st impression to a potential customer. |

Its to patch numerous exploits introduced to OPS with Tuesdays patch.
I dont like the fact its a Saturday morning which is the one day my folks have my children and my main peaceful playtime BUT if it nips a exploit or 5 in the bud before it is abused rampantly by the community, I fully support it. |

TERA: NCSoft US Lawsuit - Delay of Game?
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/26/12 9:27:01 AM
Game dev are not that dumb, I assure you every single contract in this industry explicitty states that anything you work on whilst with the company is the company's property.
I work in the industry on the support CM side of things, I wrote lots of training manuals in respect of PC hardware and techcnial issues for a large company, I later resigned from this company but for my own records and future employment, I asked this company in writing for copies of these as I had lost the originals in format. The company refused me even though it was my work and I could easily reproduce it because by right it was that companies property. |

Originally posted by Clerigo The directors at BHS are former NCSoft employees who stole the L3 source code and assets.
Initially they approached a unamed japanese company in an attempted sale of these, when this didnt work out they sought the financing of BHS and TERA based on what they had at that time which was all L3 work.
BHS has been funded TERA has had the financing to be created and I have no doubt a lot of the code base from the years of work that had went into Lineage 3 before it was stolen and thus scrapped.
NCSoft had to wait until TERA was given a launch date as that is 100% intent to supply it to another market, a market outside of which they have already won 2 court cases in relation to this. |

TERA: NCSoft US Lawsuit - Delay of Game?
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/26/12 8:42:13 AM
This is probably fair on NC's behalf though, a number of people involved in this project are rotten to the core and where involved in the theft of of the L3 source code/assets. Years of development stolen attempted to market to a unamed japanese company then when no bite Bluehole set up, Korean courts already ruled in NCSofts favour twice in fact extending sentances (suspended) and fines for blueholes owners. That settled the issue in the east and I am not surprised to see NCSoft pursueing the same fines/compensation in the western market, if somebody had stole my work I would do the same based on territory it was being offered in. |
