Never go for mid at start 3 left 5 right once taken then 2 left 2 right and 4 shuttles. Quicker to get back into the fight due to speeders.  Or just faceroll the pathetic rebs and take all 3 and /dance them at their futile attempts to cap anything.

PVP warzones are fun IMO,   ILUM sucks nuts though weget about 30 mins of pvp per day then it descends into the Daytona 500 and jsut riding in circles fighitng 20 other people for 5 or so spawns I wont even bother heading there now.

PVE I don't really touch anyway.  Still have 15 levels of valor to go for BM so hoping Ilum is somewhat sorted by the time I get there.

I support Middlesboro FC (for sins in a past life),  boro fans get nicknamed smoggies,  as the only boro fan in my town I have been called Smog or Smoggy most of my life.

My mmo names are always,  Smog, Smogg, Smoggy, Smoggles etc etc just my nicknames in RL really.

Agree with all suzie says but I still enjoy it.

1.1.0c Patch Notes - 1/28/2012

General

    • Improved service to reduce the number of player disconnections to the character selection screen.

So a 5 hr + downtime at peak EU times and also affecting many US players play shedules for THAT,  pray tell me why that couldnt wait till tuesday.

So a lot of people getting disconnected to character selection screen is not something that should be fixed on priority?

Yes but that priority should be Tuesday even if it was 10% of the playerbase which I doubt it is nowhere near.

You have 10% affected for a few days longer or you affect 55% during peak times (thats the EU numbers BTW) I'll let you do the rest of the math.

I have no idea from where are you getting those 10% and 55% percent stats.

Im saying worse case scenario this bug may have affected 10% of the playerbase at absolute maximum I certainly have not heard 1 complaint of it outside of 1 thread on the OB's.

The 55% is from an article a few weeks back on sales of SWTOR (minus digital) that indicated of the 2m shipped 55% where in the EU market.

Using those figures which of course are nowhere near factual then lets say absolute worse case scenario 200k players have this bug and are disconnected once or twice a play session,   does that really justify affecting the prime time of not only the 1.1m EU players by over 5 hours but also a number of US players who stay up late playing on weekends.

Not against fixing it and I feel for those with it I imagine it is frustrating as hell but surleey it could be lived with until Tuesday ??

As long as done right who cares,  it shouldnt be an option with every romanceable character but no harm in it being for some and just so long as its not as in your face as Anders :) in DA2.

So if I understand this, there not allowed to fix things off dedicated times, even if its imporatant. So f an exploit is found wednesday they have to wait ill next tuesday to fix it. Got it.

Also if there forums are tied to there Game thats also not allowed because we need to complain about them fixing the game.

So it actually appears when a company releases a game with bugs its what people want becuase no one wants them to fix it.

Or is it the game has so few bugs people cant understand why there fixing it now since there so irrelevant and just let me play.

Bioware cant win.

and yet you failed to actually read any of the factual replies in this thread or go to the actual forum itself and see how and when they informed us of this downtime.

there was no mention of it being an emergency or important patch, it was just listed as maintenance.

and no, we dont expect to wait a week to fix an important exploit or bug, if they have the fix for some of those things we are understanding enough to know it needs fixing IF THEY FUCKING TELL US ABOUT IT

and no their forums arent "tied" to the game. they have the ability to bring the forums up or down or enabled or disabled at will.

and the bugs, and there are lots of them, are not so irrelevant that we the playerbase are like teehee oh well, lets just play they arent that important anyways!

the bugs in this game are numerous, also is the buggiest launch ive seen for an mmo in a long time. nothing beats vanguard and mortal online though.

your reply to this entire thread is impulsive and completely false

but you're right, bioware can't win. because they cant stop fucking up

Played all the way to lvl 50 and now leveling another alt. So far i have come across total of 4 bugs and one crash in 200+ hours of game time. Exploits are something that are very common to MMOS and every newly released MMO goes through that phase. So excuse me if i don't believe that 'bugs in game are numerous' BS.

bugs my friend, guildies, random pugs, pvp pugs, and I have encountered in swtor since launch:

cut scenes:

invisible lightsabers, missing eyes, massive size differences in npcs in different scenes, spelling errors in subtitles, npc's having seizures randomly, or backround npc's siezing, body parts missing, clipping through world/objects

dungeons:

mobs constantly being out of line of sight regardless of distance you are to them, mobs being immune to any damage and resetting every time you touch them, mobs hitting you from across entire instance, bosses getting stuck and being immune to damage making it so you have to reset entire dungeon to kill it, loot not dropping off bosses, bosses being able to be killed by just running away from it long enough

pvp:

Ilum (enough said), not being able to see players, players clipping through objects/world, interactable objectives not responding, crashing to desktop/select screen on accepting warzone pop, voidstar crashing players

quests:

quest interactive objectives not working, quests not being abandonable, quest mobs not being able to be killed due to the immortal bug, quest objectives not updating with doing what it tells you needing to be abandoned then restarted to work

graphics:

armor showing black on characters and companions depending on ones you wear (social slave girl outfit for example), world disappearing if you turn camera in certain locations of zones...

ughh.. thats just off the top of my head from things again my friend/guldies/pugs/and i have encountered so far in the game.

so you my friend are lucky to of only dealt with 4.

and i have CTD and BSOD and black screen restarted many times along with all of the other people ive been around

EDIT:

BUG: my bff played a bh since launch, he was pissed to get to last bh story quest to find out it was broken and he couldnt finish it.

Yeah theres been hundreds, Im a BH and still stuck in that end situation despite hitting 50 2 weeks ago,  lets throw in companions not remembering skill selections so mako spams her fricking CC all the time despite being turned off,  companions dissapearing at every transition, taxi etc

Warzone particualry Alderaan allowing clipping under the left and right turrets by running at a certain point at stairs meaning you cant be hit but can hit.

Now throw on top the sheer amount of exploiting that has gone unpunished.   Valor no1 in the first few days, afk'n warzones, speed hacks, credit dupe, item dupe, Valor no 2 last weeks patch and on top of those the 5 or 6 exploits found in 1 dungeon alone in 1.1 allowing mass harvesting of Columi Rak gear.

Bioware are learning not to tell us of exploits though.

Look at every exploit there has been so far.

They fix them but they take very little action (if any) on the exploiters,   they tell us its an exploit then the first thing that happens is people start repoting people they suspect of this.

If its anything like there normal reporting then they are a joke at it I reported a guy who 3 weeks ago was speed hacking in PVP hes still alive and well on our server now valor 60 with full BM set.   I have outright given up on BW taking retrospective action on players and not just trying to brush these exploits under the rug with stelth fixes disguised as maintenance,

6 am CST and the game is still not up lol

1PM CET here in Europe lol.  And no ETA as to when they are expected back up again.

I really start to wonder what happened and what is going on that flipped Bioware and made them switch on "Total Panic" mode yet again.

It's in the middle of a weekend.... so they better come up with a hell of an explanatio....... sales pitch.

They will do but it will take 10 people to write it 10 to edit it,  cross check it against interpol and FBI databses, seek permissions from the Queen of England and Jimmy Hoffa then they will say its coming tomorrow but arrive three days later.

I have never encountered a company with such red tape for everything they do.

Maintenance has been extended with no ETA

UPDATE 5:45 AM CST: Today's server maintenance has been extended. At this time, we do not have an estimate for the end of the maintenance. Thank you for your patience.

Going down off cycle isn't that unusual for new games because they are in a contiual mode of quick fixes.  However, I would like the forums to remain open.  It's sort of a place for displaced gamers to go and complain about the downtime while they wait.  It's a tradition.  Ah well, people can come to forums and complain I guess, but it's not the same!

This is the bit I don't understand.

I am a CM on a MMO NEVER would I lock our own forums unless there is forum specific work going on.

The 1st rule of managing a community when you know its going to be anger is to keep it insular,  you want the venomous posts to be on your own forums where your CURRENT players are and that can be managed by your staff.

By locking the forums down you force players to head elsewhere be it here, IGN, Gamespot etc and all a potential customer will see ae tirades of abuse directed at a company and this creates a bad 1st impression to a potential customer.

Ironic that he mentions number 3 yet didnt consider it for his own game.

They have really humped the pooch with this one, pissed off the US and EU and still haven't given any explanation for the patch thats screwing with everyones night/morning.

Disabling the forum was such a bad move as well, but thats what happens when you have official forums, they can gag anyone they want whenever they wish.

They have given a reason.

Its to patch numerous exploits introduced to OPS with Tuesdays patch.

I dont like the fact its a Saturday morning which is the one day my folks have my children and my main peaceful playtime BUT if it nips a exploit or 5 in the bud before it is abused rampantly by the community, I fully support it.

I've found datacrons and named/world bosses in some pretty obscure locations. I think they do a fairly good job of coaxing you to travel off the beaten path. It's no Star Wars Galaxies, but explorers do have a little something to pursue. Finding these datacrons and then figuring out the puzzle to get them is pretty neat and it's unfortunate that many people gloss over this.

Until you realise you have to have completed Super Mario 100 x and Prince of Persia 1000 x to actually be able to get to half of them :)

95% + will not bother and youtube them and even then its still an absolute bitch.

Although I do agree on the world bosses part,  especially a certain corpse clicking one :)

I think we shouldn't voice our opinion on this matter, the code was indeed stolen but probably the thief are the same people as those who worked on the code.

It's possible that they just think the code is their own since the worked on it.

Game dev are not that dumb,  I assure you every single contract in this industry explicitty states that anything you work on whilst with the company is the company's property.

I work in the industry on the support CM side of things,  I wrote lots of training manuals in respect of PC hardware and techcnial issues for a large company, I later resigned from this company but for my own records and future employment,  I asked this company in writing for copies of these as I had lost the originals in format.

The company refused me even though it was my work and I could easily reproduce it because by right it was that companies property.

"(...)deal a crippling blow to their former employer !"

What does the legal representative from NcSoft mean with this? I dont understand. Were the former employees planning to launch themselfs Lineage 3, or just an similar mmorpg with artwork, game design blah blah taken from L3?

If so, this art and design and blah blah that were put into Tera came from L3 project? Im lost...

The directors at BHS are former NCSoft employees who stole the L3 source code and assets.

Initially they approached a unamed japanese company in an attempted sale of these,  when this didnt work out they sought the financing of BHS and TERA based on what they had at that time which was all L3 work.

BHS has been funded TERA has had the financing to be created and I have no doubt a lot of the code base from the years of work that had went into Lineage 3 before it was stolen and thus scrapped.

NCSoft had to wait until TERA was given a launch date as that is 100% intent to supply it to another market,  a market outside of which they have already won 2 court cases in relation to this.

I really dont know what to say of this

NCsoft has a fame of sueing everyone and their mother, but it is its hand feeding GW2 so I prefer to stay neutral

This is probably fair on NC's behalf though,   a number of people involved in this project are rotten to the core and where involved in the theft of of the L3 source code/assets.

Years of development stolen attempted to market to a unamed japanese company then when no bite Bluehole set up,  Korean courts already ruled in NCSofts favour twice in fact extending sentances (suspended) and fines for blueholes owners.

That settled the issue in the east and I am not surprised to see NCSoft pursueing the same fines/compensation in the western market,  if somebody had stole my work I would do the same based on territory it was being offered in.
